Social 242 is a little gem that is nestled in the core of downtown Kelowna. When you walk into this place you'll be absolutely floored with the wonderful layout of a 360 degree bar, a private room for parties, and lights in a DJ stand for when the nights turn up. With a beautifully balanced menu they have something for everyone without too many choices becoming overbearing. They have wonderful specials throughout the week so that you're able to try different parts of their menu and save a couple dollars. When entertaining I always think of social 242 as one of the first places I bring my guests. They make the conversation about dinner carry well on well into the night. If you are a foodie this is one place you do not want to miss.

I believe that a restaurant should have both good service and good food. The food was good, but not the service. Our party was a big one and the birthday girl was in the restroom and the waiter didn't care to wait for her much longer so he dropped her dessert at her seat with a candle going, and left... never been treated so rude especially for someone's special day. We were also forced to pay 18% gratuity for such bad service.

The menu here is curated to perfection. IE: The beet salad is refreshing and filling at the same time, with a well-balanced vinaigrette. The wild salmon is complemented nicely with fried risotto balls that would make your Italian grandmother jealous. Cauliflower wings are on point. I don't understand why social isn't past the 4.5 star mark. *****

Considering it's sandwiched between 2 strip clubs, this place has amazing food. Our tattooed bartender was the friendliest server we have had in forever. The scallops were perfectly cooked, the flavours amazing, and the cocktails top knotch. Definitely will be revisiting this little gem!

Loved the range of vegan options they had, from appetizers to mains to even desserts (which is unfortunately not very common). I had the vegan chicken parmesan and it was a pretty generous portion and very delicious. It was a bit pricey but pretty worth it considering how big the portion was. Everything else on the menu looked delicious and really creative, so I'm definitely looking forward to coming here again and trying more things!

First impressions were sour, but server was nice and attentive. They brought us water, though it was clear they had not been hand washed as the glasses felt dirty in the hand. Our server made some off comment about us being a group is students and asked us to pass our menus around like 7th graders, not a mood killer but telling of what to come. Prices are equal to cactus club, with notable upcharges for basics like char on a steak. Our food took a while to arrive but it was clear it should have been in the back longer. My dish was “Okanagan chicken” with goats cheese, roasted potatoes and house veg. The chicken was fine, not bad not great, but the sauce and potatoes stood out. The potatoes were hardly roasted as much as boiled over time, mealy and undercooked inside though a fair number of them. The sauce was the real killer, the cheese tasted like mayonnaise by my pallete but I was informed by the table that it was just “off”. My partner ordered the Mac and cheese, though it turned out to be mostly breadcrumbs, fine to eat but not worth $20. The bathrooms could use some more attention, though that may just be unfortunate timing on my part. If you get the right food and you don’t care about the price then it’s fine, but it shouldn’t be your first choice.

Waited over an hour for the saddest excuse for a steak when I originally ordered ribs. When I ordered the ribs everything seemed fine. Then 5 minutes later he comes back and asked how I'd like my ribeye cooked. I looked confused and said I ordered the ribs? He said he doesn't know how that got on the menu. We ended paying 30$ for a salad some bread and 2 pepsis. My wife ordered the butter chicken and it tasted like trash On top of that the music was so loud I couldn't hear my wife speak and they weren't following covid precautions.

What was once a skeptical look of a restaurant is now one of Kelowna's newest vibrant lounges. great wine list, local products and service that is specific and timely. One of the only places I have found that sell oysters per piece which are always fresh and great paired with one of their white wines. Do not hesitate to stop in this summer :)

Business is falsely advertising 40% Off their Spring/Summer Tasting Menu on Groupon. In reality you pay $60 on Groupon for $60 off your bill. I don't appreciate being lied to. Food was just OK anyways. A lot of better choices in that area. I'd recommend passing on this place.

Delicious cocktails made by great bartenders! This cocktail was suggested by the bartender and it’s called “Thug Juice” which has Hennessy Vs in it, I debated if it would be tasty and whether I would enjoy it. He assured me that I wouldn’t be disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised by the perfect balance of sweet and bitter. I am very looking forward to having another one when things go back to normal. Sunday evening a group of us went to Social for Dinner and Drinks after a show. The service was Great! We never had to ask for drink top ups and the waitress was well informed on the drink specials for the night. Appies and dinner came quickly. The vegetarian menu was a hit for a few of our friends! My food was hot when it arrived to the table. Good size portions and super yummy! We did the $35.00 feature menu and everyone was super stuffed! We will be back for sure!

Experience was meh. We went there for our Xmas party in December and it was great. DJ was playing and we all had fun dancing by the DJ booth. There was about 10 of us, no problems at all. Revisited last night and had about the same amount of people dancing and your lovely staff came up to me and said there was no dancing cause it was a lounge not a club. The way we got approached was super rude. Not to mention 2 girls who weren't staff were harrasing my girlfriends because they were hanging out with the manager. Not cool. Definitely will be going somewhere else to spend our money ✌????

Had the Saturday seafood platter, $100 for two people. It comes with Rockefeller style muscles to start. These were overcooked and chewy. The sauce on them was very good but we only ate 3 off the plate. The plater came with 8 shrimps, a piece over salmon (over cooked) a lobster tail (cooked perfectly) 3 crab large legs and 4 crab claws. The crab legs and claws were NOT scrubbed cleaned before being cooked and served. This was my biggest issue as it had a lot of muddy dirt on it and got on the meet and plate.. was not appetizing and i didn't finish it, which was a waste. The dill sauce was VERY good. The garlic but tasted like it had no garlic or salt. The veg was nice but i wish there was a bit more. 4 pieces of asparaguses, some beets and a few pieces of broccoli. Rice was bland and we did not eat it. All and all not worth $100 sadly. That being said I have enjoyed other meals from here before but that was over a year ago. Hope it was just an off day. OH Our server was great!

This place is confused about what vibe they are trying to achieve. They have a DJ playing dance music with a dance floor but dancing is not allowed. The bartender told us something about BC law. He also would not serve a drink to the bachelorette in my group because his girlfriend was sitting at the bar. He said she would not like it. Poor service, poor interactions with customers. Not a place I would step foot in again.

Phoned a week ago to make reservations for last night. We were told that would be fine. Either we were outright lied to, or staff communication needs significant improvement. We get there at opening time, only to find the door locked, and no staff to be seen. Tried to call, and I could hear the phone ringing inside, but no one answered. Absolutely not impressed, and definitely will not be getting my business ever again.

Always a great spot for an Appy and a beer (or a signature Shaft if you're looking for a pick me up drink) The vegan Bruschetta is incredible, even if you're not vegan! Serving staff here are legit out of this world! Management is on top of everything and it shows in the all round great dining experience they create. Would recommend for casual dining or nice date night idea rather than taking your date to a chain restaurant. We had a bad service experience a few months ago, normally the food and service is great and we have been to this restaurant many times and always enjoyed it. We decided to let them know about it. Daniel, one of the manager's asked us to let him know next time we could come back as they wanted to make it up to us. They did an awesome job great service, the food and drinks were fantastic. Wow! This was great! We ended up here after the place we had originally set out for was full - what a happy accident! It doesn't look like much from the outside - but go in - sit down - order a fabulous cocktail from Ty ('spicy thai' to his friends!) the mixologist. Cruise chef Jordan's delicious menu - order a bunch of food and sit back and enjoy the eclectic mix of tunes (retro and modern) that the DJ is spinning...you won't be disappointed! We ordered 8 appies and one main course to share (4 of us - but we were STARVING - lol) Ty did some custom drinks with a mezcal base for us, delish???? The food was so good - and HUGE portions! Chef Jordan came out to see how we were enjoying everything, our server was lovely, attentive, accommodating (and some seriously banging fashion sense!) We were there for several hours and ate and drank ourselves silly! (Except for the DD - he just ate) 9 cocktails - a bottle of wine - a beer - 8 appies - a filet mignon main - 3 desserts - one coffee - a pitcher of beer for the kitchen... 300$ after tax and before tip...the whole experience - priceless!

My experience was fabulous to start out with but when the bill came it went down hill from there. Me and my 3 friends had an $80 groupon deal for Social 242, we were super excited to try this place out, as we sat down we told the server we have a groupon and asked if this included alcohol or just food? The server replyed to yes it includes everything, she then went on to explain all the sunday specials! We were super excited because the appies were 2 for 1...We were there for about 3 hours, good service and great food. The bill came and everything was at the original price including the appies that were suppose to be 2 for 1. We asked the server if it was a mistake and she responded with your groupon does not include any specials! Which was a shock to us since she told us it did, instead of her handling the situation with politeness she went straight into defense and was very rude to our table. The manager then came over which was also very rude and continued to not only say we lied that we had not told the server we had a groupon and they could not do any for us. As a person that has worked in the food industry I have never been in a kind of situation like that, what happened to the customer is always right? We were not asking for a lot, just what was told to us at the start of our meal. Overall we our greatly disappointed in the management because we never received an apology and he continued to fight with us in a none professional manner. I will never go back or recommend it to anyone else. It really is a shame since the food was very good.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. I only go on weekends, around 9pm sometimes the place is super busy other times its a ghost town in there. The food is hit and miss, and they lack wines that are in the menu yet out of stock. I had tried ordering several items that are basic in the menu before like calamari, or dry ribs to find they don't have stock. Its not a good thing when items in your menu from food to wine are not available by 8pm on a Saturday evening.

We went to visit this Restaurant as we came from Vancouver for the long weekend. We waited in line and watched the staff letting their friends in instead of having them wait like we did. Then the give us a joke of a seat way in the back 40. So who wants to sit there maybe a couple or something. So we moved to a table on the balcony and then they decided they would ignore us. A man at the next table got up to ask the waitress to come as he wanted to buy us drinks...and they told him we aren't serving them because they moved! Dam right we moved don't we have a choice you only want your friends sitting at the better tables... Good thing we left and went to GOTHAM and dropped a lot of cash. Way to go Social you suck!!!

Went in last night for dinner. Our server Amy had amazing recommendations and even went as far as to start our palettes off with a bruschetta amuse bouche.. which did not disappoint! We did not know what we were missing out on by not ordering it as a starter for the summer feature menu. This place was a gold mine for great food, great portions and hospitality. I'm glad we tried this place out and we will definitely be back.

We were looking for a place to eat at 9pm in Kelowna and to our surprise allot of places stop serving food around 830-9. We then came across social 242 lounge and grill and went in. The staff from waitress, bartender ,cook, and DJ were very accommodating, we then proceeded to order allot of food and wow everything was awesome from food to drinks and service. I will be going back as it was a great experience in how a restaurant should be. My thanks go out to everyone there.

This is one of the WORST restaurants I have ever been to. My family and I went there for dinner and the dishes were dirty - the drinks had dirty straws - the glasses had goop on the inside of them - that was the good part as when the appies arrived the food was NASTY and yes - there was sticky goop on the plates they gave us to eat off of., I will NEVER be back - we left after our appies (very surprised that they charged us for the drinks as they were still full) HATE this restaurant. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!! Unless you want to get sick :(

when i was waiting in line with my friends i dropped my phone in a puddle and the girl handling the line was so sweet and ran inside and got me napkins to dry it off and the host guy was also so sweet and let us wait inside because it was cold out and while we were waiting for a table he got us drinks and we were overall blown away with how nice they were :)

Freaking amazing! Service has been wonderful, food has been absolutely wonderful, cooked to perfection. Chef Jordan has done beautifully. Had carpaccio, salmon and mousse in the pre-fixe menu. Salmon was beautifully cooked, not dry and the dill caper beurre blanc was perfection. Portion was large enough to be completely satisfying without sacrificing a beautiful job in plating. Wish I took a pic but I wanted to eat it! Wonderful overall experience.

Great service from beginning to end! Thoroughly enjoyed the three course meal, composed of bacon wrapped prawns, a good sized ahi tuna topped with pineapple salsa, and an apple & pear crumble to finish it off. Paired with some solid house cocktails while taking in the well done interior decor, I highly recommend this spot.

One of the new, best spots in all of Kelowna! Right up there with Raudz or Waterfront Wines. The bartenders and servers are very friendly and provided great service to me when I ate there last. I have eaten here a half dozen or so times since I arrived in kelowna and it is my favorite place to get some brilliant food at a relative cost. Best ribs in town! Definitely worth a try.

Found social online to be the best wing Wednesday in town therefore expectations were high. Service was exceptional, ambience had my taste buds ready for a delicious meal. Ordered my favourite flavors, but as they arrived I was presented with cold wings with a pathetic amount of meat on the bone. Definitely would not reccomend social for wing night.

Was excited to try this place, got there and was told it would be 5 minutes for a table, waited about 30 mins asked what was going on only to be told that it's last call for drinks and no point to wait as they couldn't get us a table. Wish we knew that before waiting that long as it was a waste of our time. Also noticed not all staff was wearing masks and seems to be run by a bunch of younger people not business professionals. Disappointed with this place.

Went to Social 242 for the first time tonight. Ordered a lime margarita and 2 tacos. Received a coconut margarita (which was yummy but not what I ordered) and a veggie taco and pulled pork taco. The taco shells were so stale that they fell apart as soon as I took my first bite and the pork was quite dry. Considering tacos are their Thursday night special, I was pretty disappointed. Service was also pretty underwhelming considering how quiet it was when we were there.

Bought the Groupon deal and would definitely recommend! The place looks unassuming and a bit underwhelming from the outside but when you get inside it's cozy and upscale. Mixed crowd, men wearing tank tops and flip flops to ladies and guys dressed in upscale casual wear. You won't be under dressed or over dressed here. Food was great, big portions and service was good too.

Good place for a date. Good lighting. Music was kinda odd, played electronic remixes of “losing my religion” and “zombie” - found that very odd for the atmosphere they seem to be going for. Food was good overall. Bruschetta was really really good. Caesar salad, was meh. Really salty and not much zing to the dressing. Both the mains we got were good. Server was very friendly and did a good job.

Ordered the summer 3 course meal ($35) with lots of options for vegan and meat eaters. The starters are on the small side, tasty. We ordered the summer salad and bruschetta (not traditional but with cream cheese and basil pesto). The mains are the star here with a seafood fettuccini and peach bbq pork ribs served with roasted potatoes and seasonal veggies. The portions were a good size that made up for the starter. There are 6 choices from cheesecake, boozy coffee, gf fruit crumble and lemon bar served with vegan lavender ice cream (from parlour creamery!)

Took us in on short notice to get a table and were very accommodating. The appies and main course were delicious and plentiful. Our server was great, friendly, and not trying to push us out after we finished. They cranked the hip hop, which we loved and had an overall great time.

We were excited to see what would be on offer as we were asked about many additional services that could be offered. Upon initial entry, me and my gal friend wanted to sit at the bar. We were told that it is full so we were placed in a far corner. We were alright with that, as long as we would still get service. We waited 23 minutes and no one came. Several servers came and went to the other two tables near us, but no one came to serve us specifically. After 30 minutes, I got up and went to get a server myself. Upon addressing my concerns to the doorman, which I think is the highest ranking staff at the time, I was completely disrespected. He had the audacity to blame me for getting no service, saying that the waitress had "better things to do" than to come serve us. He said that it was my fault because I was walking around so much so she didn't know what we wanted and had other more important things to do. The only reason I was walking around in the first place was because we got no service. We asked about different seating and he said it was not possible. He told us that next time we should call to make a reservation, especially for the bar. We came again the next week to try to give the place another chance. We had called in advance to try to make a reservation. We came early, and the same doorman was there as the last time. We told him that we called in advance, and that we would like to sit at the bar. He told us that they do not take reservations at this time during Covid (contradicting what he told us the last time), and that the bar is full. He said first come first serve. There were 4 places at the bar that were empty, as well as a table right in front of the bar. He offered us the same place at the back as the last time. When we told him that we do not want to sit there because we got no service, he walked away mid conversation to talk to another group. Completely disrespectful. I tried to get his attention to tell him that that was rude, and he ignored me. He continued talking to the new group, and then he brought them to the table near the bar that we were eyeing, even though we came first. When he came back I was angry and said that we were first so we should have been brought to sit there. He told me that they had a reservation, when he just told me a moment ago that they DO NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS. When we told him that, he brushed it off and said that they personally texted him, and that he only reserves tables for personal texts in advance. Completely rude, arrogant and ignorant. He should be fired. He shows no respect towards women, or anyone else for that matter it seems. That is not the way to do business.

We had reservations for 6:00PM tonight (July 28th 2021) for four. I was host to my neice and her boyfriend who were visiting all the way from Amsterdam in the Netherlands. What a joke and a huge embarrassment for me as we arrived promptly at 6 only to find the doors locked with no explanation! My daughter tried to phone them, and we could hear the phone ringing while we stood outside but of course ... no answer. Please don't give these people your business, there is no excuse for the way we were treated and you will be next.

Went in last night for a special occasion. The man working the door was incredibly rude and did not know what he was doing at all. Luckily a woman came out shortly after and was much more efficient. If you want a drink on a busy night it will take 20+ minutes for it to come out. Drinks are pretty good and food is delicious but all in all the experience was not worth the 10$ cover charge.

Ended up at Social on St. Patrick's Day around 12 and sat down at a table with 7 friends. Waited at least 20 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge us. She checked our IDs and was really rude towards us. Anyway, we gave her our order, waited another 30 minutes and no drinks came so my friend and I walked towards the bar. The waitress came up and told us that we would be charged double because she already put our drink order in. So we walked back to the table, ended up waiting another 15-20 minutes and still nothing so we walked out. I would not recommend this place.
