Waited for our drinks for 20 minutes and our order for an hour. Ended up getting our order to go since we waited so long. Get to our room only to see the ribs that we waited an hour for are coated in a cheap ketchup bbq sauce. What a waste of time and money. Never again ????‍♀️ If I could I would rate this 0 stars. Lol.

My burger was tasty and well presented. My wife's was a complete disappointment. The fries that accompanied both were inedible. Our son had a kids meal, then came home and ate again. All around disappointing meal. The decor was pleasant, parking readily available. Staff was super friendly and not overly attentive like some places. I doubt we will clamor to return here to eat, but choices are limited, so we will likely try it here again.

The Back Eddy is a local favourite eating and entertainment spot. Menu has everything from appetizers to fine dining options. Great salads, wraps and burgers but the house specialty is the fish & chips! Fresh Great Slave Lake whitefish lightly battered and fried to perfection with fries, you can substitute a salad if you wish. The nautical themed dining room is the perfect location for lunch, a romantic evening out or for large groups. The Back Eddy has a family dinning area separate from the licensed section of the restaurant. Make sure to check out the live entertainment when available!

Garbage. Just waited an hour and a half for burger and fries. No gravy. Don't check up on you at all. Terrible service.

Service is really slow, food is a b.s. wait, I waiting 1hr for a poutine and a chicken burger the waitress said it's really busy on the other side her thinking I wasn't gonna get up and check, I went on to do so to find the waitress sitting down cooks were not really doing anything there was three customers in there all had food and the family room was empty then to get yelled at for speaking the truth about the place and the service like come on and they don't even have Pepsi ffs but I will say the food is good if it's cooked right the first time

Good restaurants are scarce in the far north, but the Back Eddy is one of them. The food is pretty much good across the menu with few exceptions. There are also some stand out items. For example, they have the best steaks in town, especially the fillet. Their potatoes au gratin are good too and so are the chicken strips. This is also about the only place in town you can get Coke to drink so if you're a Pepsi hater, this is your little oasis in town. Service is good and staff are friendly. However, if you are from the south keep in mind that the north has an entirely different idea of customer service. This is true everywhere, not just the Back Eddy. So keep in mind that while they have as high a level of service as will be found in the north, it could be below what you may be used to elsewhere. Just relax, and enjoy the northern way of life. Pricing. Again, the north is more expensive all around. Food and restaurants are no exception. The Eddy sits in the higher end of the restaurant price range, but is appropriate pricing given the quality of food and service for the area. Overall, the Back Eddy just squeaks past the Ptarmigan Inn for first place on my Hay River Restaurants list. Enjoy.

Crab cakes extremely soggy ,fish taco still frozen inside, I gave this place 3 chances so far ,they failed all 3 times,as a person who travels alot for work a decent meal would be nice

What a serious disappointment. Used to be the restaurant to go to in Hay River NWT. Couldn't even get through the appetizers. Go to the Ptarmigan Inn and get food that won't upset your stomach. Just seems like kids run the place. Has lost all it's class despite being renovated.????????????????

I had the AAA prime rib steak. Awsome. The veggies were awsome and the fries and gravy (I had other choices ) were pretty good. I'll be going back for sure

Like the renovated but still feels like the back eddy vibe. Staff were very attentive, polite and had excellent attention to detail (example: the only discarded items we had on our table was the paper ring from our napkin and cutlery). Complimentary refills are a nice touch. Nice you can still order things from the old Back Eddy menu. Like the mix of old and new.

Gross. My meal was so bad (chicken kiev). It tasted like they put a cold flour white sauce with no seasoning straight onto my mediocre chicken. The place was beyond grungy. The chair seats on the family side were filthy, as were the kids menus. It took a ridiculously long time for our food. Everything was deep fried so it could not have been that hard. I sent my food back and they did remake me a second mediocre choice. It was barely busy by this point yet it took our friends an hour or more to get their food. Go somewhere else.
