Overall very poor experience here . I will say the food was very tasty overall. The guac and chips seemed store bought with very little flavour . The portions are very small and in my opinion priced the same as Toronto spots without the justification to price this way . The drinks were fine but the smallest margaritas I've ever had and I'm unable to believe there was 1.5oz of Mezcal in mine. For us in partciular the worse part was the inattentive service . Our server often forgot what we ordered, when we asked where are ordered items were she seemed to not be aware they had not been brought out etc.... I observed some tables seemingly getting better service or at least more prompt. Family style was the explaination for food coming out at random and various times . That is not Family style its and excuse for poor kitchen timing plain ands simple . I won't be back for several months so they can work out the kinks and I won't be suggesting this to others. Lastly , there did not seem to be any Managers observing the flow , energy etc...nobody asks guests how their experience was etc... I will say I did really appreciate the decor ..But thats about it .
Drink menu is decent. Invest in a keg fridge. Food is high end price and priced accordingly. Will return to see progression.
Can’t make a whiskey sour to save their life. Just gave me straight lime juice and whiskey 4 of us couldn’t even drink them. Wouldn’t visit this bar for nightlife ever again. However I cannot comment on the food.
Excellent authentic Mexican. Good tequila list too.
After sitting through dinner in a sweltering restaurant, the warm beer and dismal portions will keep us away from this establishment. $200 for 6 people, we left going in separate directions to go for pizza and shawarmas to fill our appetites.
If Toronto cuisine and mexico had a love child, it would be La Reina! Authentic mexican cuisine with a modern twist. Bring your date here!! Modern atmosphere, great services and delicious food for reasonably fine dining prices. Leaves you wanting to try the next thing on the menu! Amazing cocktails served by fun, sociable bartenders. Or if its the morning after check out the new brunch menu (Saturday and Sundays between 10am - 4pm) offers $4 mimosas which is an awesome deal! $5 Taco Tuesdays are also a cheaper way to find your favourite one (Try the Albeitar, its amazing)!
Everything smelled like pee. The corn was canned. I ordered a taco and it was served on sandwich bread. If I wanted a sandwich I'd go to Subway.
I really really wanted to like this place. I was so excited to try it out. Unfortunately, my experience was terrible. The decor is super cool however, like many have said, the music was so awful and loud that it made it just uncomfortable to try and stay and eat- we wanted to leave right away but were hungry and wanted to try the food so we stayed. Is it supposed to be a restaurant, or a club?! The food was good but the prices are ridiculous for what you get- for 3 people to have a few tacos and two drinks (I drank water) it was well over $120!! So sad!
We came for a workshop with PLANT and had such a great time. Fantastic tacos. Scrumptious margaritas and such a great atmosphere. We had a great time and kept saying "we must come back!!"
I would agree with most of the people on here. Food was ok at best, with the exception of the fish taco. But prices were ridonkulous for the portion sizes. Left hungry and spent $100 on 2 drinks and a couple of tacos. Also, let's work on presentation guys. Most taco places serve tacos with an upright standing taco dish. LA Reina just gives you a flat mess on a plate and expects you to pick it up without spilling the contents everywhere. The place could have potential but needs some key changes first.
Love it! Amazing menu and complex flavours! Great improvements since opening - they took suggestions and made things even better. Beautiful space and just fantastic, unique Mexican food. Very accommodating for food allergies and restrictions. Thank you!
Amazing food and service! Can't wait to go back.
I love this place! I switched from sip club because of the owner and service. I love when I come in the one bartender always knows what I want when she sees me. Lately the service has not been acceptable. The other bartenders stand there and ignore you, or they ask you what you want and take 10 mins to get it. I have stood up at that bar for over 20 mins. I think you need someone on the floor especially on karaoke nights.
I loved the Pastor tacos, ceviche and churros. The salsa verde is excellent too although you need to ask for extra hot sauce on the side if you want things spicy
I would comment on the food, but we didn't stay. I read the reviews about the portions being small for the price, but that the food is good. No problem. I'll happily pay for great food. We reserved for our anniversary dinner, arrived and were offered a hightop table that rocked when you touched it. I asked for a table that wasn't a hightop and we were told there was not one available. No big deal, I'll sit at a high top. The reason we left was because the music was awful, angry sounding and LOUD - like night club loud. It was incongruent. It annoyed me from the moment we stepped into the place. Had to leave.
Amazing place. Staff is very friendly!
Very delicious. Authentic flavours and fresh ingredients. Service was good. Prices fair but well worth the authenticity. No other menu like it in Guelph. Will definitely return regularly!
Went on a Friday evening, was quite busy. Excellent and fast service the entire time. The burrito was a little soggy but it was delicious, the menu was diverse and to the point. Avacado salsa was great, in pics shown below is the beef taco and burrito and chips. Would eat here again.
Great food excellent service!
Portions are small. You need to order few dishes to have a decent dinner, hence the prices are high for average food. I ordered fish tacos and avocado mango salad. Didn't really enjoy anything that much. Service is great though.
The food was really tasty and "mexican". The tortillas were corn, delicious, warm and pliable like they should be, and not too small like in other places. The queso fundido with mushrooms was decadent. The tacos were really tasty and hard to choose from all the offerings. They had a high chair and kids menu. However their washroom is in the basement so you cannot take the stroller there. I will go again, even if i don't live in Guelph, it was that good.
Beautiful spot, but food is over priced. We enjoyed the tacos, but found the server slow and l don’t like when they offer to do something and they forget to bring it to you. For the price, the food and service should match. Also never order carne Asada, we couldnt even eat it. Waste of money. The streak was served blue, maybe they should of asked. My boyfriend will eat anything and he couldn’t. Such a disappointment, especially when you get a bill for that price for something you didn’t even like. Server didn’t even ask why the food was left on the plate.
So rude young lady at the entrance podium! Sunday @3:00pm, we came here to watch UEFA final (Europian champions league). A young lady standing at the podium. We asked her if we can sit and watch the TV on the Wyndham st side. She said "WE DON'T SERVE ANYTHING THERE!" with rude & angry face. Then 3min later a nice guy came and asked us "Hey guys how may I help you"? My friend was so mad by her service and wanna leave, but I didn't wanna miss the game.
A bit pricey for small servings.
We tried the sample platter and beef brisket tacos. Overall, it was very tasty, but we felt like the food had been sitting for a while because the cheese was not melted, and nothing was particularly hot. I feel like it would be better as a dine-in experience!
If you want to try mexican food, you have to try this place. It is quite almost the original flavour and worth the price.
Terrible service, ordered over the phone during covid-19 on April 25th 2020 around 5:45pm, ordered the ISO-for 2 dinner, was told it would be ready at 7:30. Attended the restaurant at 7:30 to pick up my order to be told they never created a ticket for my order and now half of the things I ordered are sold out. - - Save yourself the trouble, eat local somewhere else, plenty of good restaurants down town.
Just another restaurant trying to be something that they are not! Trying to be a mexican restaurant with cooks, managers and presumably owners who have never even been to Mexico. Food is contrived, service is weak and no idea of menu ingredients, expensive etc. Just because I delivered chinese food while I was in college doesnt make me an expert in chinese cuisine. Guess I can open a chinese restaurant. I guess the public doesn't care about fake food.
Extremely Disappointed. We went from Waterloo yesterday, as usual, to have dinner here, and we put our names on the waitlist at 7:56 pm. We were advised by the waitress about the wait time around 1 hr 45 mins and received a message saying that our seating time was gonna be at 9:56 pm. We hanged around waiting to eat the good food that we like, and at 9:56 pm I asked the waitress, what happened with the waitlist, and she said it was a crazy night, and the list was pretty large, she recommended to keep hanging around and soon I was gonna received the message for your table. Guess what? At 10:56 pm, we decided to leave, never received a simple message, nor anything. When I saw the tables from the people seated, people were just chatting, with empty beer bottles, etc. I wasted 3 hours of my time, and traveled from Waterloo to eat some good food, and was a bad experience. Does the restaurant have time limits on tables? because it seemed there was no rotation on the tables, and I felt like they lied. I will never trust again in their SMS system for the waitlist again, and maybe I will no be there again.
The food and cocktails are great here. Bartenders are hot. Will be back!
Good food, good tequila, and an appreciable selection of beer. Menu is still maturing, as the spice warnings aren't accurate. (I love spice, but partner must avoid it at all costs.) Apart from the growing pains, it being a relatively young restaurant, it seems like the food items cost a wee bit more than they should and the overhead music is WAY too loud. Go early, as the lack of acoustic treatment will deafen you in the more crowded times. They've got a good start on their business formula; definitely worth a try every few months to see how they evolve.
This place is bad on every front. Don't waste your time or money. The ironic part is that the service is so poor that they won't even bother to ask you for it.
Saturday evening Sunday shenanigans started at La Reina where we had tacos and tequila. Their new patio is designed with dining in mind: comfy, private, and fun background music. Food was good and the service was terrific. See you again soon!
Tasty tacos!! Fun atmosphere!
Staff- super friendly! Drink selection- impressive tequila bar, along with mezcal! That alone is 5 star worthy! Menu- decent, but lacking enchiladas and Chile rellenos. Food- this is where I decided to give the 4 stars versus 5 stars. For the region, it's great. For me, who is from Texas it was very mediocre. Overall, make sure you stop in and get a shot of mezcal, neat!
Fantastic and the staff was eager to teach!
Tacos are not bad. Nachos are pretty good.
Went here for brunch recently with my wife and was quite pleased with our experience. The decor is very cool - lots of nice touches merging Mexican culture and contemporary design. We got the capirotada and the huevos con chorizo. The capirotada was a nicely put together bread pudding that well with some tea. The huevos was on a well made corn tortilla and had a nice kick to it. Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend!
Horrible service. After about waiting for an hour for my scheduled seating, I was asked to wait for another hour while somebody was given a table right in front of me. This is horrendous and out-loud racist. I would seriously recommend to try some other place.
I really love the atmosphere and authentic Mexican food here. The service was quick and friendly. Their food is very close to authentic Mexican, and delicious, but... the portion to price is insane. 1 small taco for $6.50? 1 small mixed drink $12? Really? Plus they blare the music, so it’s very hard to talk and hear. Unless the portion sizes increase, or the price comes down, I would look elsewhere. A shame really.
Beautiful spot with a tasty, simple menu.
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Food pretty okay.
We had an excellent waiter. Their bottomless brunch is a great deal and a good way to try different food.
I got the enchilada. It was not what I expected. Dry, weird sauces. I’d never thought I’d say this but there were way too many nachos. The service was very slow which was weird considering the amount of staff they had. They said no one was aloud inside and that we had to sit on the patio. But when I went in to use the washroom they had people in there dining.
Great food, inviting environment.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. I went for lunch with a friend from the area and I got the Pastor Taco and the Suadero with a Margarita Clasica — YUM ????I was really impressed with the tenderness of the meat, the flavours, and the hot sauce options. I'm from Toronto and after letting our waiter know we liked what we had, our waiter let us know that one of the chefs from El Catrin moved to Guelph and to La Reina. So good. Would highly recommend :) P.S., The music is great too.
Meal type
First of all, I want to say that the people who work here are terrific. They were extremely helpful and attentive. I was asked about any food restrictions and they accommodated me happily. Unfortunately, I have nothing more to say that is positive. I ordered a vegetarian burrito and some churros. The burrito was $10 plus $2 for the guacamole. $2 seemed a bit steep for the guacamole, but I thought I would give it a try; it was undetectable throughout the burrito. Please don't waste your money on the guacamole. The burrito had a mix of rice and vegetables. Among the vegetables were some fresh grilled bell peppers. The peppers were not ripe and had the texture of a hard eraser. Eating the burrito consisted of taking a bite and much the contents spilling out as I pulled it away from my mouth. Thankfully, the spillage was caught by my plate, but hardly the desired result. The churros were okay, but the sauces that came with them were not. You get a vanilla and chocolate sauce, both of which were watery and almost flavourless. For the sake of those working at La Reina, I hope the food improves. They are good people and should not have to serve such substandard dishes.
Esos tacos al pastor.....mmmm..! Finger licking good...! Highly recommend with a a very cold beer...
Food was delicious, but not good value, even on Taco Tuesdays. Vegetarian tacos had very little filling, regularly $6.50 each! Serving size of guacamole app is extra small ramekin. Tasty but will not return any time soon. Server was pleasent and knowledgeable about menu.
The food was good...the staff we had was wonderful
We did a little home made tasting menu between two of us, with two apps (the guacamole comes with unlimited chips) and 2 tacos each. The flautas tasted a little fishy (maybe fried in the same oil as the haddock for the tacos?) but the guacamole was great. All the tacos were solid - especially the beef and fish. The portions aren’t huge, but we left full. You need to make sure you have the churros - they were perfect. I think a negroni is stil better with gin, but enjoyed the mezcal as something different to try. All in, with drinks to start was about $97 + tip which didn’t feel like too much for what we got. The kitchen is clearly still working some stuff out - we weren’t super clear that our appetizers were appetizers so everything came at the same time and we ended up with two bonus tacos (for free) because they couldn’t sort out which table they were for. I think once they find their pacing, that will improve. The staff were friendly and attentive and while it was super hot and a little loud, you could still hear the people you were there with. They’ve done a great job with the decor. Reminder - try the churros.
Great atmosphere!
Ordered 3 steak tacos. 2 came out raw.
Loud music, expensive drinks. Not worth the price!
First time in. Great atmosphere, great staff. Food was excellent! I left in a much greater mood than I showed up with. Thanks you. I'll be back!
Service was great. Prices on par with similar downtown faire of the same quality. Portions are not small, not large, but right on. If you want fast food mexican go to mucho. We got an app and soup and 2 tacos /1 sandwich each for lunch. I couldn't finish both my tacos, I was so full. The combinations are delicious, and they're not stuffed with rice as a filler to make those large portions everyone seems to want, all meat and the good stuff!! Recommended to all our friends. We're excited to go back and try the dinner menu!
If I could give 0 stars I would!!!!!!!! This is my experience at "La Reina" which is supposed to mean a queen but it is in fact peasant service. I called the restaurant ahead of time to ask if they take reservations to which they replied no, fine. I called 10 minutes before heading there to confirm the wait time. The lady on the phone replied "It should be around 30 minutes", FINE. I get to the restaurant with my friend and the lady that spoke to us on the phone said that it would take about 15 minutes to be seated on the patio. My friend and I agreed to wait considering it is a reasonable time. We were waiting outside the restaurant for approximately 35 minutes because we were really looking forward to this and it was my friends birthday. We decided to ask her again how long it would take and she has the audacity to say another 30 minutes. WE WERE SO CONFUSED BECAUSE we saw people who got there after us be seated on the patio!!!! Anyways, we waited 5 minutes and then we received THE CALL. She said we cant take you in anymore because the waiting list is too long. Excuse moi????? Mind you she told us there is no waiting list its first come first serve and if there was barely anybody there before us, how did all of a sudden the wait list grow exponentially!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE! They were also playing horrible music ...don't waste your time here. As for the food, no idea but guessing by the service it is probably BAD. Thanks for getting rid of two customers that were planning on buying your most expensive bottle of tequila. We will be telling all our friends to never COME here. Cheers!
We ordered the iso dinner for two last night. It was the first time we tried this place and honestly will eat there again regularly. It was absolutely delicious. There was so much food by the time we were done we couldn’t move. When the order arrived it was like opening a stocking on Christmas. There was so many little boxes and bags inside. They sent a huge variety of dips and sauces. The customer service was also excellent, we spoke to a person named Victoria. Thank you so much. We will be back.
The food was decent. But the service was atrocious! We waited forever for our first margarita and ordered a second round of drinks that never arrived. We had to wait for our food and it took over 20 minutes just to get the bill. Definitely not worth the wait. Terrible service.
Amazing food, drinks and service!
The ambience of this place is incredible, the food exquisite, and the customer service outstanding!
Definitely one of the nicest places I've been in the down town guelph core. Really cool Mexican style bar and food, although I it is a little bit on the expensive side I guess. Big good
Great food great service
We came in for a date night... This place looked nice. We sat down everything was going okay, we order drinks & food. We get the drinks we talk erverything is going fine, after about 45 minutes our waitress comes over (after i had to ask another host what was going on with our food) takes our emtpy drinks and says "your food is going to take a little longer'" no explanation or anything.. I foolishly order another drink (at this point we should have left) about 20 minutes later we get our food and the manger i assume says "sorry about the wait obviously your drink is free..." Mediocre apology(also add the cherry on top she didnt even ask whose dish was who jist plopped them down and walked away. As she walked away i had to switch dishes with my SO..) I saw the manager once and our waitress about 4 times( i actually felt like she was avoiding us..). Safe to say we will not come back and i will not recommend but i doubt you care at all considering how you deal with your customers.
Great food, great outdoor seating , 10/10
Food was good, service was slow, prices were high
I also don't understand the bad reviews. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this isn't it but as a Mexican myself, I think the food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the sample box and everything was yummy. The al pastor nachos were the highlight as were the chicken taquitos! I'd say the prices are similar to that I was used to in Vancouver for tacos. And also we're in Canada. Surely one doesn't expect to pay the prices one would pay in Mexico for food! And also, the fact that a place doesn't serve super authentic food doesn't mean the food is bad! We will definitely be trying more items on the menu!
This review is in 3 parts...first and second visit and COVID. My initial impression was very bad but just visited again and they have improved significantly...then was extremely frustrated again trying order during COVID or trying to go to the patio once it opened! Be warned...they never answer the phone! To begin...I lived in Chicago for 16 years so if you are going to boast ‘authentic mexican’ food you better do it right! La Reina does not do it right. The food is pretty but not tasty. Actually it is quite bland...some of the worst salsa verde I have ever tasted! It’s like they put a thickening agent in it. The guacamole was excellent however. Sure would be nice to get more than a spoonful for 8$ though! The portions are ridiculously small and the tequila selection almost entirely can be acquired at the lcbo. Again, if you’re going to boast authentic mexican at least have some hard to find top shelf stuff! The atmosphere is fun and cool but no a/c so don’t go in the summer! The way they serve is also silly! With a group of people they bring out all the same kind of tacos at the same time so you better remember what you ordered and pay attention. I got my tacos then 20 minutes later got my rice! Not ok! We got dinner and drinks for 3 people....wait for it...$200 plus tip! Yeah. We still had to leave and go up the street for cheap wings to fill up. Was so looking forward to authentic mexican but alas...we will not be back. Update December 31 2019... Just went back to La Reina for New Year’s Eve and I have to amend my initial review. The New Years menu was excellent. The apps were tasty and adventurous, the salad was good and the adobo beef was fall off the bone delicious! Also had the pastor tacos which were good...needed cheese but solid. Our server was helpful and kind as well...AND the prices have dropped. All in all a fine meal and good atmosphere! FYI - half priced tacos and tequila Tuesday to Friday from 3-6pm. That’s worth another trip for sure! Update July 2020 It’s been a hell of a year so far and nobody has taken it in the teeth like restaurants. Now that they are beginning to open again you’d think that la reina would, like everyone else, take reservations for their patio! Nope! Every other restaurant does it. Not la reina! Such a pain. When restaurants first reopened for curb side pickup only I called and called and called...they never answered their phone! So I never ordered! Once again they’ve driven me away as a customer. They are just so poorly run! I want to like them so badly...but they keep on shattering my expectations...negatively! Such a shame...
Great Tequila selection. The tacos are amazing. Perfect blend of flavours. Prices are on point for the quality of the food. Service is impeccable. Finally don’t have to go to Toronto for authentic Mexican food. Another win for Guelph. ????????
Great place Delicious food And we probably got very lucky to have the same Asociate looking after us Jenna Great costumer service People skills That lady goes beyond the whole yards Me and my wife were super happy with the costumer service experience. LA REINA ROCKS
Expensive for what it is. Slow service. Food was ok - had the burrito and it was so greasy I could not eat it all.
For a new startup this restaurant was refreshing "authentic Mexican Cuisine in Guelph" food and atmosphere were excellent .. price was on par and good value for the money ... This is an upscale menu and not your Usual Mexican fast food variety ... staff were very helpful in navigating us through the menu .... very knowledgable..... Nice job on the decor ... Can't wait until my next visit .... Stuart Riddell
Excellent! Give them a try, won’t be disappoint!
Dissapointed in every part of the dish - 2 stars === The main: Pulled pork, pineapple, onion, and cheese quesadilla. --- Pulled pork and pineapple is usually amazing, not in this dish. The pineapple was very flavorful and every bite with them was a delight. That's sadly where my enjoyment ended. The "pulled" pork was more like roast beef slices and was quite chewy which would've been fine if there was any enjoyable flavour in them past the ocean of oil and grease. There really was a good amount of cheese but it's flavour was nowhere to be found past the grease. The side and sauces given with this dish don't pair well at all. The sauces --- Guac & salsa: Both of them just tasted like cilantro. All the other flavours I wanted were muted. Might as well called them red and green cilantro sauces. And I like the taste of cilantro! Sour cream: Yup that's sour cream... It was was it was supposed to be. The side --- The chips we're pretty tasty but again I can't get past that grease, they were more oil than chip. Just look at the bag, it's soaked. The Price $$$ --- This would be a 4 star experience for $10 but this was $19 turned $25 after a 15% tip and taxes.
Great food!
Definitely worth a try if you're looking for authentic tacos and a couple margaritas or Mexican beer. They have a great tequila selection if that's your thing. The pastor tacos are amazing. It can be a little pricey unless you catch them on a special - luckily there are many. If you go during "halfy-hour", taco Tuesday or Sunday evening you'll end up with an amazing meal at a really good value. 4/5 stars because the pricing outside of specials is a little upscale for me.
I went in for lunch for the first time today. I love this place! The server was great, the food and drinks were great. The different margaritas were unique and delicious! I had the watermelon salad and the octopus, both dishes were superb. I'll be back for sure! Oh did I mention the decor? It is very cool, crystal chandeliers against black and grey, and sugar skulls and skull decor, done very tastefully. A truly pleasurable experience. I look forward to exploring more of the menu in thd future!
Great burritos and tacos, good selection of draught beer, awesome atmosphere.
El Catrin is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. So when I heard that the chef of La Reina had worked at El Catrin I was very excited to try it out. La Reina however, is a huge disappointment. First and foremost the food is overpriced. The price you pay and what you get is not worth it. This is evident by how many specials they run to try get people in the door. Their bottomless brunch special for example, is just an amalgamation of bland and under seasoned food with terrible cocktails served to you by some uninterested university students while a DJ looks like he is about to kill himself while blasting top 40 hits. Im not sure if La Reina knows what it is trying to be, but whatever it is, it's not working. It's a real disappointment because, Guelph could really use a good Mexican restaurant but unfortunately La Reina just serves half assed Mexican food to people that don't know better. A rethink of restaurant's concept is desperately needed, and it should start with the food.
Very good quality food, nice and friendly service.
Way too loud to have any kind of conversation
Their burbon lemonade was awesome and the shrimp tacos are delicious. They have a great menu full of great food.
Delicious! Knowledgeable and confident kitchen. Friendly service.
So, have gone there several times now and I wanna love this place because the food really is quite good and the drinks interesting. Good selection of margaritas. The ceviche is quality stuff. Absolutely fantastic. Everything else fresh, seasoned well, portions are good. But, the three times I have been there the service is sh*t. Just terrible. Long waits for drinks. Weird order of dishes from the kitchen, no cutlery or plates for shared dishes. Tonight they put a dish on the table and we were ready to cut into it and lo and behold, not ours. Awkward. But then she asked us if we wanted it, we said sure because surely it’s going to just get pitched and it sounded good, we’ll add it to our order; but nope lifted it up and took it to another table. That is unsanitary and frankly, why? Young staff who clearly lack training. Management needs to address or you will only ever be a taco place with bad service.
Nicely renovated restaurant and better than the previous decor. Doors were all open and felt quite good - not too hot. We had the option of sitting outside too. Good drinks selection and particularly tequila. Food pretty good - fish taco and steak taco were very good. Prawn main dish with rice also nicely flavoured. Quite relaxed serving style where dishes come as they are ready. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely worth trying and another option for Guelph town centre.
Like the decor inside and has a neat atmosphere. Food was quite tasty and unique and did remind me of the times I lived in Mexico. Only problem is....can I have more please?? Was expecting much larger portion sizes for the price...another easy way to fix is why do you serve so few nacho chips with guacomole? Was ridiculous....4 of us got 3 chips each for $8......fill that bowl up...nachos cost nothing and it will make your customers happy (and more thirsty to buy more drinks duh).
Love this place! A great selection of authentic Mexican food - suitable for any occasion. Top notch tacos with even better selection of drinks! Would recommend the Pineapple Express margarita - great blend of sweet & spice!!
Way too expensive for what you get. The decor & open atmosphere are stellar. However, the menu is pretty confusing & the wait staff is inattentive & doesn’t do a great job of reading social cues (ie people hesitantly ordering weird stuff because they don’t know the menu). $50 for 2 drinks & 2 VERY modest appetizers (one was a single ear of corn from the shareables menu) is absolutely laughable.
One of my Guelph Favs , Beth and Julia both my 2 Fav servers , Beth is also an amazing singer and knows how to get involved with the customers to have a great time . you young ladies ROCK!
I had lunch on the patio here, and thought it was fantastic. Prices are slightly on the high side for the quantity, but the quality of the ingredients and preparation was equally high, so I felt like I got my money's worth. I'd definitely come back here the next time I'm in Guelph.
Tried to order the 6 for $30 tacos at the take out window. It took 4 staff members to help us, but they determined we could not mix and match the tacos, we would have to order 6 of the same tacos. Who wants 6 of the same tacos?! Staff were unknowledgeable. Food is expensive.
Awesome atmosphere, super authentic and top notch food and great service. We’re here st least once a month. Some whine about price on here but it is totally worth it. Well worth checking out.
We arrived five minutes to opening, when we were greeted there were 3 other parties. I asked the hostess if we could sit inside (as this opened a couple weeks ago) she looked at me for a full minute without saying anything then said no..I though that was weird, but we moved to the patio. We sat down and within a minute they had put on music which I can only describe as "club level volume" to the point my son asked if we could leave! My husband attempted to get the attention of our server with an "excuse me" as she was approaching and it was returned with a unprofessional "wait" as she walked by. When she came back she says "I'm the only one here" um,ok, so poor planning on the restaurants part means you get to snap at your customers? He asked that the obnoxious music be turned down...not in those words, and she went off, the music was turned down slightly. When she returned I asked about the flights of margaritas...she blew through the list so fast I caught 2 of them and missed the other 2. It was completely apparent by that time that we were a total inconvenience. We ordered the guacamole to start, the guacamole itself was good...the pork rind were so greasy they could have turned the napkins see-through and the amount you got for the price was disappointing. We got tacos and a burrito for lunch. They were underwhelming to say the least and the coleslaw tasted like mothballs. My husband had to ask the lady who ran our food out for the beer he ordered, as our server never brought it out. At the end of the meal, when the bill came, our server was all smiles and chatty...lol, it's a bit too late for that, we will definitely not be back!
This place is so 5 stars, so unfair that is ranked 3.8… Food was just amazing, the service is one of the best ones I ever had in Ontario. Just perfect!!!
Great location, tasty food, always nice to find a Mexican restaurant that makes more than just tacos in Guelph-KW.
They charge Michelin star prices for slightly above average food and subpar service. Bottomless brunch needs to be taken off the menu because it is so misleading that I would almost call it a scam. If you have to wait 40 minutes between orders and leave hungry, it is not bottomless. Hope they are able to turn things around. It has potential.
Went on Thursday and got the "Pint and 3 tacos for $20" deal. Good selection of beers, and two rotating taps. The tacos were good (soft shell) and it was a great deal. A bit costly for me at the regular price, but they have daily deals. Staff was fun and friendly (thanks Aldo) and I really liked the decor, very cool. I'll be back to try more daily deals.
Been 2 times. The tacos are average. However they don't give you an extra tortilla, which all Mexican restaurants do when you order tacos. The drinks are way over priced, and what I didn't like was that they had a feature menu with no pricing. It's a little deceiving... Visit #2 was later on a Friday night - the music on the patio was so loud! A customer dinning (who later told is she is a server at this restaurant) went to the speaker and turned it down, but the DJ just went back and turned it up again. Our party just ended up settling the bill and leaving.
The atmosphere seemed like an average patio/pub vibe, which is nice. I can't speak about the food because upon arrival we were told the head chef had left with a hand infection and the kitchen was slow. This is a prime example of telling the customer more than they need to know. A very basic lesson in customer service should have told the host that all he needed to say was "The kitchen is slow today." Some retraining and new health standards are necessary.
The food here is amazing and authentic. We got take out and enjoyed every bite. However, i would suggest that you get some environmental take out containers. Paper? I would even pay the extra. :)
Went for the Sunday night specials and the place was almost empty. We were served by the bartender who was very friendly and knowledgeable, and we never waited on her. We ordered a selection of the tacos and, possibly because it was later, they took much longer than expected and were definitely not worth more than the 3/$10 price special.
I don't mind spending money on dinner if the food is good, however La Reina food was not good. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and tacos which all were disappointing except for the fish taco. With Downtown having so many great restaurants it is very easy to go to another restaurant with cheaper prices and better food. Also with no AC or fans it gets hot. Why pay more money for crappy food and to sit there and sweat is beyond me. I understand they are new so I will try La Reina again in the late fall to see how they have progressed. There is great potential so I'm hoping that things will turn around and my one star can turn into a 5 star.
Best place for Mexican food in Guelph! ????
Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere.
Very disappointed. Very poor service, we waited for almost 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and then we waited another 20 minutes before we decided to leave as our orders were not taken. While sitting near the front door/hostess station we heard fellow patrons comment on the small servings and very slow service. It should be noted that it wasn't a result of lack of staff, rather a lack of customer care.
Great service, expensive and underwhelming tacos ????
The food is great. It really is super tasty. The value for your money though. Not so much. 16.00 for three tacos and they're small. Not nearly filling. We actually left there and went somewhere else.
Sarah the Manager has no people skills! I asked to have an umbrella moved 2 ft for shade and she refused!! Said due to covid, and if she did it for me she would have to move umbrellas for other customers. I said thats EXACTLY what you should be doing for your customers. Chef Adwardo later came and apologized for how she handled the situation that escalated rapidly! The Mexican Chef is awesome!!! Makes the best Mexican food we have had ever! We definitely will be back again. I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because of Sarah! Promote her to dishwasher manager.... not dealing with Customers! I own a business myself, and if a Customer asked me to move an umbrella so they are not baking in the sun... I would do it in a heartbeat
Food was great and priced very reasonably. Loved the heat in my dishes! Service was a good pace, especially with a large party on a busy Friday nignt. Will be back soon.
Great food, nicely renovated with a good atmosphere. A nice addition to Guelphs downtown core. Tequila..
First time there. Tried 5 different tacos. Quite enjoyed.
Best margaritas I have had years. The food was awesome too!
We ordered the ISO family meal. Wow. Really good! All four of us enjoyed it.
Whoooaaa expensive! Me and a friend were walking by and thought we would check this place out. We had their late night menu and 1 taco was $6.50 plus tax! I was blown away by their pricing. The food and drinks were good, but not a good value for what you are getting.
I felt really good in here :))
Restaurant looked great also staff was great too. Music was too loud. After getting our drinks 30-45mins later from the time we ordered we then proceeded to wait another 45mins on our food. Endless Bunch sounds like a great idea which included 3 drinks for $35 but the time you wait for the food you’re just frustrated. Quality of the food was a 3/5 at most.
I have tried this restaurant 3 times now. I tried when it first opened up and was very disappointed, a year or so later I tried it again and it was okay and just recently I had a friend of an owner tell me they have turned things around and it deserved another chance. 3 times is enough for me to know that this place does not live up the hype. The hostess and server was friendly but the tacos and burrito were so disappointing. The kitchen lost out chit so we waited awhile (which was fine because the patio is nice and the server brought over chips and guac) but when our food came the entire plate was coated in oil, soaking the brisket tacos. It was literally dripping oil. There was quite a lot of meat and look pleasing but it had absolutely no flavor at all and tasted dry. It was a Saturday night at dinner hour so there should be no reason for the meat to be dry. My partner had the burrito, which cost $17 and said it was just average. I also ordered the ceviche, which did taste really nice but they served it with crispy plantain sticks which were placed under the dressing, so by the time I got to them, they were mushy. I had one that was crispy because i ate it first and it was fantastic. The dish just needs to be plated with more consideration. Wish we had a better time because the atmosphere is nice, but I think they've officially lost me as a customer.
Delicious food! Wonderful wait staff as well. Would recommend!
Amazing food everytime , lamb tacos and a nortena burrito makes for an amazing night would highly recommend!! Oh and also don’t forget to try there salsa flight it’s good enough to hit every taste bud. Thanks la Reina
Great food & yummy drinks. Very reasonable prices. Fantastic customer service.
A great little place in Guelph. Yes, the food costs a little more than average pub food, but it's excellent, with service to match. I don't mind paying more for good food. If you're looking for good Mexican food and a delicious margarita, this is the place to go in Guelph.
Always very impressed by the quality of the food. Loved it when someone from the kitchen came to our table to tell us about the different hot sauces. Will be back soon!
Service
Shocked by some of the bad reviews. This place is amazing, great food with no pretense. They know what they do and do it well!
Portions are small, pricey, and (worst of all) rather tasteless! Would have given them one star if the staff weren't so nice. They seem to have a problem in the kitchen, in menu design, and in budgeting.
I have loved their take out during the pandemic!
The food was good, but fairly small for what you pay for. The drinks took quite a while to get to us (15mins), when there weren't many customers at all.
Friendly service. Tasty food. Very long wait for food.
Was there for lunch. $15 for two tacos, side salad, guacamole, grilled tortilla chips and salsa. That's not a bad price for the amount of food you're getting if you ask me. Not to mention, the flavours are on point. Closest thing to authentic Mexican I've had in Canada in a long while. I'll be back!
Food was ok at best, service was poor.
Loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend the red sangria, it didn't disappoint. Get the guacamole + chips to start, it's a tasty app and a few people can share. Had the only selection of vegan tacos (it's labelled as vegetarian on the menu but just ask to make them vegan), and the filling was good. My friend has 2 different tacos: one chicken and one pork and said they were full of great flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of the corn tortilla shell. Great staff, very friendly.
Last night my wife and I had an unplanned adventure to Guelph from KW. We met there many years ago. We decided to stop here for a quick drink before dinner somewhere else. The atmosphere, people, drinks and menu were so cool we decide to cancel our other dinner reservation and stay here for dinner. The food was amazing. We will be back!
I really think that the food vs price is amazing. If you look at the care and attention that goes onto making food taste that good it is a incredibly good value. The music I think was fine at no point did i have to yell or have any issue hearing. The chefs are so great. I cannot rave enough about the food.
Fantastic food, very authentic Mexican. Great mixed drinks with some interesting twists on margaritas. The brisket tacos are some of the best I've ever had. Only down side was service was a little slow. Not at all the fault of the wait staff, they were perfect, just felt like they may have too few people working at a time. Highly recommended for a night out!
This is disappointing - we were hoping for a nice Mexican restaurant in our neighborhood and instead got another overpriced hipster spot! As many have said, the food portions here are unacceptably small, the service is slow (we just wanted a take-out and waited for about 40 minutes on 3 tiny tacos and a tiny toasted taco). Considering how loud the music was, how bland the tacos we tried were and how long it would take them to make a proper meal (judging by how long it took to assemble four tiny snacks) I am happy we didn't go for a full meal.
First experience yesterday at the bottomless brunch (first Sunday each month) was amazing. Chance to try a taste of everything and every item was delicious. Looks great inside. I see a lot of reviews about price...I’d suggest trying Taco Bell if you are that out of touch with sit down service pricing. Will be back at La Reina first chance.
What a nice place to go for our evening meal. The dishes we had tasted great and our server was engaging. She helped make the outing memorable. At the end I enjoyed a lime creme brulee. The tart of the lime with the sweetness of the sugar was a unique treat. I do hope to enjoy if I make it back again.
An upscale, beautifully-decorated Mexican taqueria. From the moment to see the menu, or see the decor you know this place is legit, and respects and celebrates the heart of Mexico. Service is knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. A nice selection of local craft beer on tap, and excellent selection of Tequila as well. Tried a selection of Tacos - Al Pastor, Baja-Style Fish & Suadero - all were absolutely delicious! Wonderful house-made salsas too! To be fair it’s a few dollars more than what you’d pay at a chain restaurant but you’ll know it’s worth it the moment you take your first bite... great attention to detail, thoroughly enjoyed my meal, will be back!
The food and atmosphere are great, however some of the staff gave us the cold shoulder. Not all staff are trans-friendly
A general stain on downtown. Don’t expect any meal of value from here.
Lunch
The reviews I read prior to trying this place out with my boyfriend and another couple made us apprehensive. However, I speak for us all and we were blown away by our experience. This place is not "pricey" - You are paying for quality food in a quality restaurant. This is also not a chain restaurant like Kelsey's that Guelph is used to having. New eclectic restaurants are exactly what Guelph needs as it supports a much larger demographic and with that, a much more diverse demographic. This city is not just students- this city is actually becoming filled with young professionals who want quality food experiences! MOST importantly, the food is absolutely fantastic. It is so nice not order the classic enchilada and being served a dish that's larger than a newborn baby. The flavours are outstanding and taste so fresh. This resto supports a more family style eating, with sharing encouraged. The four of us ordered 3 separate starters we shared between us, chips and guac, and one final "taco" to eat each. My boyfriend and my meal was $114, and 45% of that was drinks! So we went out to eat at a nice restaurant and the food costed us $50. I firmly believe that is NOT overpriced- For everyone here worried about cost! Will definitely go back, and I highly recommend it!
Bomb. Fresh well cooked ingredients and great service. Its a fun spot to meet up with friends for dinner or even a few drinks.
I also am shocked at the bad reviews. We went here yesterday on a Wednesday and loved it!! Food was great. Music was great. Service was great. Dogs on the patio was great. Lighting was great. I never go to Guelph but damn I'd do the drive again just for this place. Highly recommend!!
Pricy, average tasting dishes that you can get at any other place for fraction of what you pay here. It doesn't feel Mexican at all.
First review I gave was 4 stars wishing the tacos were bigger. Went back recently and let's just say Mexican food is supposed to be good and then give you diarrhea. This time I was served diarrhea. Probably not going back.
Great date night out! This past summer it was a great place to go while feeling safe! The margaritas are super yummy and food is always delicious.
Nice location, friendly staff. Food was good especially for someone like me...that is "gluten free". Size of the food vs. price a little bit questionable but it still was a pleasant and tasty experience.
Unprofessional, unresponsive and unnatentive staff who are rude and should be replaced if you want returning customers. Live music was amazing!
Definitely worth the wait! I recommend the red snapper it’s amazing!
My son and I went for dinner on January 22, 2019, he had previously been to this restaurant but this was my first visit. The food was amazing. The twist on authentic dishes added to the delicious flavours of the food. Our server was knowledgeable and the service he provided was exceptional. I am so glad that we discovered this place and look forward to trying more menu offerings in the near future.
Really good food✊????
Probably one of the worst meals I've ever had. A lot of the reviews about this place are very accurate. Menu is pricey, portions are tiny, food is sub-par and service was not great. The service we received was almost comical it was so bad. Our server took our order and came back minutes later and advised us she couldn't read her writing so she had to ask us again what our orders were. Our party of four ordered two tacos each...so we thought. Our food started arriving on the table and we all commented on how small the portions were. Six of the eight tacos showed up around the same time and we were told we should eat them as food is brought out when it's prepared. We started to eat our tacos and then our server takes away one of tacos claiming that it wasn't ours...she took it and gave it to another table. We all looked at each other puzzled as we did order that partuclar type of taco and couldn't understand why it was taken away. Minutes later the 7th taco shows up and we're told that's everything we ordered... We had to flag down our server again to tell her that we were missing food. The last taco finally arrived with no apology from staff but our friend had to wait forever from the point her first taco was served and the other. My tacos were sub-par - I had the chicken which was overcooked and hard. The beef was okay but was served as one price instead of cut into smaller pieces. Not once we were asked for refills for our soft drinks but our friend drinking beer was brought out another. I find this the basic principles of serving and I am not sure if our server was new or she was having a bad day but service was awful. Next time when someone mentions this place as an option.. I'll happily decline!
Amazing, authentic Mexican food. Best in Guelph by far!
Always an amazing mea but tonight I tried the quesadillas and OMG!! Best meal ever!!
I've good experiences at La Reina pre-COVID. Overpriced? Yes. Good tacos and margaritas that kinda justify it? Also yes. This was the first place I went to once restaurants opened up their patios and I was pretty disappointed. The tacos had lot of meat on them, but they lacked toppings and flavour. They were also a little too dry. The ceviche was tasty but contained too many filler ingredients. It was so different from my previous experiences that I actually asked our waitress if the restaurant changed owners. I think this place lacks some consistency. My 3 star rating is generous, and averages the other good visits I've had there.
We ordered dinner for takeout during lockdown, it was fantastic! We had the fried plantains, as well as shrimp, chicken and brisket tacos. Everything tasted so good, and very authentic! The interaction we had with staff picking up our meal was very good, they are extremely friendly! Can't wait to go into the restaurant post-Covid!
Great variety of dishes, always fresh ingredients, and the churros are done of the best I've ever had. Get. The. Churros.
Small portion for the price. For example, about a half cup of guacamole and a dozen tortilla chips is $9. Food is good but not spectacular especially since they are charging gourmet prices for food that is typically much cheaper.
Great atmosphere and cocktails and good tacos.
Let’s just say the experience at the take out area was awesome the food was great got two tacos and churros And the quality of the food was very high 10/10 would eat again
Flavourful take out tacos, hope to try the full menu dine in when things open up.
Over priced for amount of food Food was good however not worth what is charged. Too loud to have any conversation Menu somewhat confusing.
Good meal. Good price. Good service. I recommend.
Finally went to La Reina for date night yesterday. The atmosphere made the evening instantly special and the portions vs price were valued higher than places we've been to in bigger cities. I think the menu is great for trying lots of different tastes rather than filling up on one dish. All things added up to an authentic experience that Guelph will soon become familiar with!
Great tacos, good margaritas
I found a pube in my taco. Next time I’ll go to NV instead.
The service and atmosphere were good, the food tasted great, but the portions were quite small. Good for a small bite to eat with drinks, but not a place to go if you are truly hungry.
I really had an amazing time in La Reina, their tacos are tasty and they were so nice to made palomas at our request. Thank you so much for welcoming after my move♥️
Absolutely terrible. Portion size small. Dry chicken. It cost me an arm and a leg. And when we complained the manager did not even come out to rectify it, they sent the poor server that was just doing her job.
Very disappointed. The food was good but very small portions and very expensive for Mexican food. $9.00 for a little taco! Really? We went for dinner and the music was so loud we had to shout to talk to one another. It didn't seem appropriate for a Mexican restaurant and was like loud club music. We won't go back.
Went for lunch and everything was delicious. Guacamole was fresh, fish tacos were our favourite they were crunchy and flavourful. Try the churros, you won't be disappointed. I'm surprised so many people are complaining about the prices, you get what you pay for. If you want cheap, greasy pub food, don't come here. Atmosphere and decor are perfect for a Mexican restaurant, and the service was great. We will be back.
This restaurant ... is so bad. The service isn’t great, the food isn’t fresh or good enough to justify the prices. I definitely won’t be back and recommend you all do the same.
Enchiladas were inedible. When we told the waitress she asked if we wanted something else but didn't take it off our bill.
Food = 5/5. Taco tuesdays are incredible. Great variety in tacos. Service = 3/5. Long waits between drink refills. Price = 2/5. 70 bucks for 4 drinks and 6 tacos. Not including tip.
I went in for tacos and discovered Mexican brunch! It was really delicious food, service was fast and most importantly the guacamole was fresh and the chips were salty! The decor was really interesting and had it not been for the fact that it was 11am when we went in, it looked like a great bar experience with the cool skull taps. I recommend this place if your craving Mexican but want something more then the average zteca or mucho
4.5 Really good tacos, good drinks. Little pricy but excellent decor
Definitely not authentic Mexican food. $6 for 1 taco is rediculous! The corn tortilla for tacos is overcooked and hard. The food is not fresh from scratch. The restaurant was playing loud club music when we were there for lunch. This place is very over priced for non-authetic Mexican food. I highly do not recommend and will never return.
I've been to La Reina multiple times now, both for dine in and take away. I honestly don't know what to say. Sometimes I've enjoyed my meal quite a lot. Their tacos can be quite well done, with fresh and delicious corn tortillas. I've also enjoyed their Al Pastor burritos to go. But it seems everytime I go there, I'm also very disappointed by something. One time it was the ceviche which had way over cured the fish leaving a stringy texture. Another time the cocktail I had with lavender was so poorly mixed it tasted like I drank a bottle of a grandma's perfume. I also orders the Party box with my roommates for dinner one night. It was awful. To say the least, La Reina is highly inconsistent. On a good day they can provide a very enjoyable, if slightly overpriced meal. But on a bad day it's a disappointing experience all around. Honestly, I just don't think I'm going to try anymore (at least for food, their Margheritas are pretty good).
My daughter had a practice at Guelph so went here to enjoy patio and dinner. Patio was nicely spread out and clean! Service was great and they were training my waitress and of course she deserved a tip. I had street corn app which has cheeze on it and chili and limes. So creative and tastes way better than I thought based on my description. Added lamb barbaco taco and nice flavours and textures. Margarita of the day was nice compliment to meal. Great vibe to place also.
Well, this was disappointing. The food was very good, and the waitress was very helpful and pleasant. However, the drinks were small and full of ice, hardly any margarita to enjoy and were over priced. The food portions were so ridiculously small we actual left the restaurant hungry and went up the street to have a real meal for half the price.
So delicious. Cannot recommend enough - Torda Nortena was fantastic ????????????
I really wanted to love this place because there is a serious lack of authentic Mexican in Canada, but unfortunately I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy much. The proportions were so small - I'm talking a couple tablespoons worth of guac for $8! Even if it was pretty delicious, that was not okay. The salsa verde was goopy and tasteless. The meat was bland for the most part (the chicken taco was flavourful, if you were expecting a regular chicken fajita, I guess). And I didn't understand all the additional ingredients in the ceviche... I was looking for the traditional - authentic - raw shrimp, pico, cilantro and lime. So disappointing. And the side of rice and beans was $8 for a couple tablespoons of each!? Incredibly overpriced. Most of the tequila was available at LCBO for much less expensive, but if I were to come back, it would be for the drinks. That being said, I wouldn't recommend this place and don't expect to be back anytime soon.
Food looks like it came straight from the bins of Somalia, no ingenuity with their layout, but the bathrooms are great
Great restaurant in Guelph. Where can I begin. The atmosphere was great. We had a high top overlooking the street. Tacos were great. The elote was the bomb dot com. A little advice to the chefs. The guacamole needed a little extra acid. I took the lime from my drink and it took it to a whole new level. Trust me. My girlfriend and I know our tacos. We do not mess around. If your ever in the Guelph area. This is a stop you need to take. Loving the modern twist on mexocan tradition. Ill be back for more lamb tacos. Salud.
Food was excellent, unless you don't have functioning tastebuds. Even then, it was still excellent, you just wouldn't have known.
Great food. Pleasant, conscientious service. Get there before the patio closes.
Excellent! We enjoyed our time, food, and service on one if the most sunny patios in Guelph. Good price for the high quality food and drinks. Will definitely be back. Thank you!
Was really excited to try this place for the first time, so we made reservations for for 6:45 on a Saturday night. Walked in and were told 5 minutes later that there was going to be a wait... even though we made reservations specifically so that we didn't have to wait knowing it would be busy on a Saturday night. We decided to order drinks at the bar while we wait, but didn't receive them until we were seated after about 10 minutes. Despite the wait, the drinks were fantastic. We asked for the best vegetarian options and gave the tacos a try. Another server brought the food and offered to bring side plates since we were splitting between two, however she never came back. Unfortunately were not impressed with the taste/flavour of the tacos. Because of our experience with the poor service and food we won't be returning for the food, but just for drinks.
Had dinner there last night. Food was great. Server was fantastic. Will definitely come back here.
Food is ok, service is not.
Love this place, great food and an awesome Tequila selection.
The service and food were amazing!
La Reina is a nice place with delicious food and friendly staff. I see people writing poor reviews and complaining about the prices thus, I had to write one myself . The prices are not unreasonable considering the quality of the food and atmosphere. If you want cheap tacos, there's plenty of holes on the wall throughout the GTA which are cheaper but you get what you pay for (mystery meats and poor food handling practices) I honestly couldn't give them 5 stars because they have been very slow serving me and my guests (even when it wasn't busy), a couple servers didn't know the menú or the availability of some menú items. Every time though, these beautiful ladies handle the situation with humour and class. The Tequila drinks and selection is amazing for a small town like Guelph, we are lucky to have them!
Had the lamb Barbacoa tacos, excellent but on the pricy side (worth it though). Also had the Pineapple Express margarita, very nice, quite spicy with arbol chili rim. Will be back for sure.
The greatest tacos around. Hope they play around with some featured tacos on Tuesdays or somthing like that. But for now I'm not complaining at all. The little shop they set up around the bar area to bring in some extra cash durn these times was amazing, I bought a couple of drink for home! The waitress and bartender who worked tonight (December 22nd 7-10pm) were phenomenal. Attentive, amazing senses of humor, knowledgeable and so nice to us! 10/5 stars. Not only my favorite taco place. But my favorite place in general.
La Reina has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious tacos! The guacamole was awesome and between my husband and I we tried all six tacos. Would highly recommend the fish, ribeye and pork tacos with an honourable mention to the marquesa (vegetarian). We definitely did not leave hungry and thought the price was on par with other Mexican restaurants we have been to in Toronto. We will be back soon!
Real good eccentric Mexican meal
Really good tacos and margaritas, and the music I loved, nice place to go.
It is wonderful to FINALLY have a good Mexican Restaurant in Guelph. Though it is pricey, it is very good. My husband is from Mexico and was so happy to see authentic food and fresh ingredients. We will definitely put this on our list of favourites.
Firstly, the service and ambiance in the restaurant were excellent. That being said, the dining area has no Air Conditioner/Fans, making it slightly uncomfortable In the 30 degree weather (apparently the kitchen does not have cooling as well - just a fan). As for the food, whilst it was delicious, the portions were on the smaller side for the price you're paying (Similar to what other commenters have stated). Between two individuals, we split a main dish ($18), 3 Tacos (~$6.5 each), Guacamole (~$8) and two drinks. Overall the bill came out to ~$80. With drinks, expect to spend around that price (This is definitely not the place to go if you're looking for something similar to Burrito Boyz) Additionally, since this is a new establishment I would advise getting a reservation or you will not be seated for 2+ hours (I went at 6:30pm and was informed that the place was booked until 9:00).
Service was fast & friendly! Food was pretty good, although very expensive for the portion size. Music was a bit loud as well. Overall not bad, but spent $40 for chips & salsa with 3 two-bite tacos.
The ISO meal is exceptional value and travels well. The margarita mix is the best ever and the bottle shop is a convenient spot to pickup good tequila. They have done a great job navigating the new norm. Highly recommend.
Wow wow wow this place is so good! My friends and I had the margarita flights and we were all amazed. They are absolutely gorgeous and some of the best and unique margaritas we've ever had. We also had the tacos and salad and ordered more tacos when we finished because they were so incredible. Also huge shoutout to our waitress Holly, she was so attentive and helpful and so nice to chat with!
Food was good and the atmosphere is very fun. The Churros are amazing!
SO DELICIOUS
Food Exceed our expectations, def going back
Amazing food and service!
Patio is great! Lovely downtown vibe. Food portion is ridiculously small for the price they charge. You end up going home hungry :(
Great place to meet up for a good margarita!
Worst service ever. Just sat down for 15 min and wasn't acknowledged. Doesnt deserve 1 star
The service there is terible. They made us wait over 30 mins just to get a drink. Then they brought only one of us our meal and forgot about the other.
Very disappointed! We went for lunch, visiting from Toronto (and I'm born and raised in Mexico so I know what real Mexican food is like). The decor is beautiful and is basically the best thing about the place. The music was too loud though and clubby like, as many have already noted; no AC in a super hot summer day also made it a bit uncomfortable. All that would have been fine if the food had been great. It wasn't. The taste was fine, pretty authentic tasting for the most part but nothing super special, we have had way better Mexican in many other places in Canada. It would have gotten much better review if the portions weren't so RIDICULOUSLY small, it was appalling to say the least.... 1 small taco in a dried out tortilla for $6.50 - $9??? $17 for 2 tiny tacos and a sprinkle of lettuce? The esquites (corn) was literally a couple of table spoons (authentic Mexican would have been a cup full or more....), the side beans was also a couple of spoons full... The guacamole was ok, not nearly enough for one person (probably not more than 2 little spoons) and the tortilla chips (that they never refilled) were fine but just a few... the were gone in a second... The waitress was very nice but slow. They were also out or rice in the middle of the day on the third day after opening, really? how you run out of rice in a Mexican restaurant? We left hungry and felt robbed, we'll never go back. So sad, we were really excited about going and I really wanted to love it.... alas.... Stay away and go to any of the many other restaurants on the same street, food, service and value for money was better in every single other restaurant we visited that weekend (Buon Gusto, NV, the Cornerstone, My Thai and others)
Perfect downtown patio experience. Awesome lunch atmosphere. Super delicious vegan tacos, fantastic! Thanks to Emma, our friendly server!
Where to start.... First of, this isn’t “traditional” Mexican food as they advertise. I am Mexican, and I understand that here in Canada the ingredients are very different in flavor as in Mexico, but when you charge outrageous prices for small portions of food that belong more to the “fusion” “gourmet” style as opposed to “traditional” which implies not only flavour but portion, then I have I problem with that.... anyway, food isn’t bad, but yet again, the shawarma place across the street can be a real competitor....
Love it here. Downtown was in need of a change and La Reina is perfect. The atmosphere is great, from a casual brunch to date night, it has it all. My boyfriend and I come here at least once a month, and we've even stopped by for drinks and tacos after going elsewhere for dinner before. Came here for New Years too, even though it was a set menu the food was wonderful and the attention to detail was great. We like to bring our friends here too. Its a great place to order everything off the menu to share. One of my favourite spots downtown.
Went last night with my better half and we were both pretty excited to try this new restaurant. Unfortunately, it was a very bad choice. First of all it was empty only 1 couple sitting. We actually thought it was closed. We ordered drinks and appetizers first and the appetizers came much later all together with the meal. Who does that? The tacos which were ok, definitely not amazing but very thin on the filling. I was eating mostly an empty tortilla and also expensive. Tacos are an inexpensive meal to make, everyone knows that so why charge so much? We also ordered the watermelon salad which the watermelon was supposed to be infused with taquila and my question was "Where's the watermelon and where's the tequila?" By the way my 12 year old can make a better salad than this. But, the most disappointing dish was the Pulpo Asado (grilled octopus) $16 for "ONE" little 2 inch piece of octupos, " 2 INCH !!!!! The menu says it comes with tortilla chips, and cilantro onion salad. I got 1 tablespoon of fried noodles, and sliced onions, that was it!!! both inexpensive add-ons. Very disappointed, its not even a meal. It was a left over tentacle thrown in with some onions. It was hard and chewy and tasteless. Absolutely horrible. We go out to dinner quite often and go to pricey restaurants and we get what we pay for. Not here. Total waste of money. I have read many reviews, and so many people really don't know what 'AUTHENTIC" Mexican food truly tastes like. This is NOT authentic Mexican food. High end Mexican food.. NOT. You've been had!! This place is way too pricey for the food they serve and not the taste it proclaims to have. Will never recommend this place to anyone.
Had a good experience, good tasting food, good service, Excelente Azteca soup, churros a little different than what I am used to, the chocolate dip for the churros may be of a very high quality but it's extremely bitter, I much prefer the other dip. I definitely recommend this place I would go back.
Delicious — I highly recommend and will return soon! As someone who craves Mexican food, I now consider my craving fully satisfied. I feel so strongly that previous reviews have misrepresented this great contribution to diversifying Guelph’s cuisine that I am leaving my first online restaurant review. I look forward to local palates expanding and embracing this new asset! Food — delicious, with familiar flavors plus some novel twists. I was moderately hungry to hungry and satisfied with the tacos de cochinita (3 pork tacos for $15). They were so good I got a pastor taco just for fun. Service — Staff was friendly, attentive, and fast. The chef kindly asked how my food and experience was. Music — pleasant and adds to the atmosphere but is not at all overwhelming. Price — Great for a date night, night out on the town with friends, family occasion out, etc. This is not a hole-in-the-wall, dirt cheap joint or fast food “Mexican” restaurant. Like any restaurant, ask how big a dish is, for recommendations on price-to-quality or price-to-quantity ratios, etc. Menu — Some have complained that the menu has words in Spanish. For example, dish names (i.e. ceviche, that’s just its name), ingredients (many of which don’t have an English translation), or menu headers (just recall the general flow of a menu from lightweight to heartier dishes). If you don’t know what something means, ask, google, or be adventurous and learn something about another culture. Only tip for management — maybe some chips and salsa will be on the house in the future?
Great food! I would say to order a bit more food than you would expect. The food comes out as it's ready so stagger your ordering or dinner will be over fast. Great experience in the 4 times we have been
Ordered a $14 ceviche and while it tasted good, it came in a thimble-sized serving... no hot sauce, lemon or lime... missed opportunity to wow a customer
Atmosphere was great food was delicious but I wouldn't call the whole experience authentic specially no one there was or could speak Spanish but over all good time
I would rather eat double dragon left overs from a downtown hobo straight off the bathroom floor of douggies & pablos than dine at La Reina again. Drinks were good tho.
Bottomless brunch on a Sunday was a treat! The decor is very modern, gothic mexican and they had a DJ spinning. The food is delicious and I liked the spin on traditional dishes. Cocktail menu had a wide selection of items to choose from. They had a nibbles set up on the bar for you to graze while you waited for what you ordered plus ready-made mimosas if that's what you fancied. Would definitely return. Lost a star for the service. Server was really friendly but not super attentive. A few times we thought our orders were lost but they were just delayed and he hadn't updated us.
La Reina has definitely stepped up their game since I first ate there a couple years ago! We didn’t have the best experience when they first opened as our bill was around $150 (2 people) and we left hungry. Tonight our bill was around $120 after tax and tip and we were stuffed! The tacos definitely have more meat in them and there are daily specials that make it more affordable. I think they definitely deserve a better rating than what they have right now, and if you haven’t tried them recently I would give them another shot.
The interior and decoration is very nice and eye catching. The food however is good, but way over priced. Desserts and coffee at lunch cost four people over $50, which is just insane. Will it be returning because of the price alone.
Incredible cocktail menu. The Mezcal drinks are extremely tasty. There are so many good options on this menu. I suggest going with a group and sharing several items.
Enjoyed the place. Food and staff were great.
At first, the servers seemed a little flustered. Fortunately they have a server there named Rachel who appeared to be the glue holding things down tonight. Food was great as always.
I had reservations for 6:15 ... and was promptly seated as the place was not very busy. Good attention at that point. But as the night went on the very few servers either couldnt handle the guests or were inattentive to the fact that they had to wait their tables. We were checked on at one point (after our meal - which was disappointing) and we ordered another round of cocktails. About an hour passed - and no cocktails - and at this point someone else checked on us... we said we were waiting for our drinks - and I also asked for the bill as it was 9:30 at this point!!! I had the vegetarian tacos and couldnt really eat them. The parsnip was kinda chewy and was not pleasant to eat with guests as I would have long strips of chewy parsnip sticking out of my mouth. For 6 tacos, a watermelon salad, some quac and 2 cocktails per guest (3 of us), the service never should have taken from 6:15 to 9:45. And food was ho hum. Super bummer.
The food here is first-class, 5 stars: well prepared and flavourful. The Aztec soup is delicious. I've had both the chicken and pork tacos and both are fantastic: loaded with meat, the chunks of which are large, which keeps them juicy. The only reason it's not five stars from me is that I'm a cheapskate and $17 is more than I want to pay for lunch, though I'm full at the end. The service is great; very friendly and sincerely so. I will keep going, just not as often as I would like...because I'm cheap.
Went to La Reina for the lunch special (2 tacos + salad or soup and shared guac and chips) for $17. Food was good but a bit pricey for a lunch special. Atmosphere is very artistic and hip! Drinks are high quality but pricey as well.
Very good food and the margaritas are tasty - the spicy pineapple was yummy - gets very busy and no reservations which can be trying
Great margaritas excellent food
Beautifully designed, good food, nice staff
Varied menu, lots of options, excellent margaritas, cool vibe
Good tequila but weird atmosphere. The music wasnt that great and the service was terrible. They served 2/5 from our group and never came back to check in on us even though we were the only ones at the bar.
The food was amazing and the hostess was a delight. Would return again and recommend trying it if you like soft tacos.
What I encountered here was the absolute worst and rudest behavior from staff I have ever received. Which is sad considering I just moved back to Guelph after 4 years in Toronto. The bar tender watched me sit down and made eye contact, and decided to proceed with his conversation he was having with patrons. Then about 10 minutes later, a couple came in behind me, at which point the bartender decided to stop hitting on the girls, get off his stool, and seat them at a table. Mean while I was still waiting. Don't waste your time on this self pretentious hole that will be closed within a year
We went for the bottomless brunch today. The prices were fair and the food was excellent. Our server was also very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. Highly recommend. Will be back again(y)
Great place to sit and have cocktails curbside downtown Guelph
Love that they supported their hometown basketball team #nighthawksnation by letting them host the fans in their space. I'm not sure why the servers neglected us for the first 20 minutes we were there:(
Sample boxes are the best ????
Ordered take out, half the kitchen had their masks on their chins, didn't eat my burrito said the kitchen could have it, didn't want a refund, but I will never be back.
Just got back from lunch at La Reina and can not say enough about this place. I left there feeling a sense of complete satisfaction and joy...not just for myself.....but for the city of Guelph. We have found ourselves having to travel to Toronto for an authentic Mexican culinary experience......Thankfully...this will no longer be the case. Brief review below. Atmosphere: Beautiful decor...refined and elegant with a bit of an edge. Beautiful chandeliers, excellent seating arrangement with a combination of elegant benches, high tops, and larger tables. The bar is spectacular. Gorgeous raw wood top. Amazing local artwork everywhere with the showstopper being a wooden day of the dead skull on the back wall. The rear seating area is a touch darker and has an intimate feel to it...perfect for a romantic date. Music made you feel as though you were sitting at a beach bar in Playa Del Carmen....perfect. Service: Top notch. Super warm greeting...completely authentic and not disingenuous whatsoever...professional and knowledgeable ...but warm. Prompt and friendly. Drinks: Had two cocktails. The Mezcal Mule was off the hook. I was a bit worried thinking the oakiness of the Mezcal would completely dominate the drink but it's role was just subtle enough to let the ginger and lime into the party. I had to stop myself from drinking it in two seconds. The pineapple express was killer as well. Just hints of delicious tequila balanced off by sweet pineapple...Awesome. Food: I must start by saying I've eaten Mexican all over the world..from dives to high end...La Reina is doing it as well as anybody. The Guacamole is perfect. Not dominated by garlic....lime..or salt..everything is perfectly balanced...and the consistency is spot on..a few chunks but still smooth and creamy. (plenty of chips by the way..and they bring more if you want) My only complaint about the Mexican Street Corn is that it doesn't come in a two gallon bucket. Just spectacular perfect amount of creaminess and heat. Chicken flautas. ..perfect crispiness... The crema was outstanding and fresh...the chicken was super moist. The chicken taco was the best I've ever had. I'm not exactly sure how they prepare the chicken but you can taste some smokiness and then you are hit with a nice heat..balanced with the cilantro and lime. El Pastor Taco. I kind of feel that this is the measure of a good mexican experience...well let me tell you...the best I've ever had. Wasn't missing a thing. The pork was cooked to perfection balanced with the sweetness of the grilled pineapple and the right amount of kick...could have eaten 50. This place is the real deal. If you like food that is prepared with passion...and drinks that are mixed with class in a spectacular venue...you need to go...and if you do....you'll be back for more.....often.
Our server (who said she is a supervisor) was amazing. Other than that it was a complete let down. From waiting almost an hour for food to arrive after being ordered, to burnt enchiladas that weren’t filled, just disappointing. The hostesses that greet were quite rude and made us feel as if we were an inconvenience when asking to be seated. Again, our waitress Anna was great, but she is the only good thing about this place.
Wish there was a better/real tequila menu.
While the food tasted very good...portion size and price were just a bit off...40$ for lunch for 2 people (we had water to drink) and we both left hungry. It is also a difficult place to have conversation as the music was very loud. But the lack of an AC really "helped" you to feel as if you were on Mexico. Service was fair ..food came out pretty quickly. Overall I will not be returning.
Fabulous, high quality, flavourful food and excellent margs. Highly recommend!
I have visited La Reina several times since its opening earlier this year and it never disappoints! I've been for brunch, lunch and dinner with both family, friends and business clients and colleagues. The food is amazing! Authentic Mexican cuisine. Great portions. Great cocktails to compliment the food. The atmosphere and service is always friendly and inviting. I will be back again and again!
Amazing food! Great service! Love their sangria and the veggie quesadilla! And the key lime cheesecake and the churros - must have dessert!
For mexican food outside of Mexico is very good
Great selection of tequila and the fish tacos are probably the best in town
Fast and friendly service. High prices, small portions and average food. $29 for a plate of carnitas. $10 for a glass of sangria. $6.50 for a chicken taco. Over priced and pretentious. First and last visit.
Delicious churros ????
STAFF was great, food and prices a little lacking. I will chose another option for lunch, disappointing.
Been here twice now. Really cute place especially when there is good weather and the large windows are open to the sidewalk. They give you complimentary chips which is nice (the dip which comes with it is a bit lackluster ????) but everything else is SUPER flavorful. I've had a different set of tacos every time and they are all flavorful, juicy and filling. Service is super friendly. Drinks are strong and tasty.
Baja fish tacos were fine but the food took forever to arrive. We were served after a number of customers that arrived after us. Waitress cames out a number of times to tell us they didn't have what we had order. Overall it was just a bit of a meh experience. Servers were very nice.
Great food, service and atmosphere!
A snowbound day in Guelph led to a quiet afternoon at La Reina. Being one of three tables meant attentive service. Hands down best margarita I've had north of the border and really good guac as well. My favourite soft shell taco is a fantastic mix of pecans and grilled brussel sprouts call La Marquesa and our shared, though don't, crab tostada was divine. I finished with the Mexican chocolate pie. Dark and silky, I had to ask for fresh whipped cream to cut the bitterness but delicious! Highly recommend. Expensive so check out the website for daily specials. Trendy but timeless decor. Inaccessible washrooms are a flight down.
Best restaurant meal I've ever had in Guelph. Highly recommended.
food is way over priced and was not good. server was kind and I felt bad for her as she had to deal with the soggy food she was serving us. Drinks were great but wouldn't go back for that food. wow the cost! its like fine dining, two people and the bill is well over $100 with only a few drinks.
Super friendly staff, tasty tacos. Been back a couple times.
My group of 5 arrived early expecting a long wait (cuz covid) and the hostess told us its a 2 hour wait. We said okay, and put our name on the list for a table of 5 people. The girl was so rude, acting extremely annoyed at my presence, barely speaking to me. But I get it, its busy. We waited around for the text and finally received it, so we rushed over to claim our table. When we got there, the hostess said they can only seat maximum 4 people, even though provincial regulations allow 6 and other restaurants had no problem accommodating us. We offered to wait longer if they could add a chair to a table, and they turned us down. I asked to double check how many people they put my name down for on the list, and they said "5". Why would they accept 5 people at first and make us wait 2 hours for nothing? Absolutely unacceptable. Go to Sip Club instead, they'll be happy to seat you.
A friend and I sat on the patio. Wait for a table wasn't bad but after we got to our table we waited 20 min for a waiter to come to us. Food was good but portions were so tiny! I ordered enchiladas for $24 and my friend ordered tacos for $16 and we both left and got ice cream at another place after because we were still hungry and they didn't have dessert. I would not eat there again.
Great addition to Guelph. The food was excellent and the restaurant is beautiful.
Everyone is always welcoming and there is a friendly casual environment. The food is delicious and is mostly naturally gluten free! We have visited at least 10 times for their food, and every time they have run out of cider. For a restaurant that is naturally gluten free, more gluten free drink options are clearly needed.
Great food , great service!! I’m personally shocked at all the bad reviews. I highly recommend the suadaro(brisket).... or whatever they are featuring that weekend. I have never been disappointed yet and I visit often
We held a staff function at La Reina and I must say the food was AMAZING! So nice to have an authentic Mexican restaurant in Guelph. My staff loved the taco selection. They were so happy with their beverages. Excellent atmosphere. Beautifully decorated. Prices were worth it based on the exquisite food and excellent service. Thank you La Reina!
Knowledgeable staff, delicious food and fantastic margaritas. Excellent addition to downtown Guelph!
What else is there to say, a well populated tequila bar with a hundred different ways to feel the burn. The staff is well versed with what they serve and there's a real open area to get the party going. Not overly popular yet but not everybody is suited for this kind of drinking. It's possible to get a buzz going with under 50 bucks but you really get to enjoy the place going in with over 100 to spend. Plus they have some pretty tasty tacos. Great place to not meet the locals.
sure, i think it tastes good- for canadians. but im mexican. so comparing all the mexican food i have eaten in my life, its meh. if you have never eaten mexican food before though, i'd recommend this place over chipotle or mucho burrito or whatever. but i dont like the prices at all. back home, this food is CHEAP. tacos? esquites? sopas? cheap. i come here and they try to sell me street food for sit down fancy restaurant prices. i see that is a common complaint- the price. the atmosphere is alright if you ignore that its a place owned by canadians using mexican indigenous revolutionary symbols to sell overpriced food to other canadians... emiliano zapata didn't die for this. i dont know if the chefs are still mexican- but i read through the new menu...some of the choices (taco apple crumble or whatever??) are hard to read through as a mexican... and because i am a poor mexican, i think i'll stay home rather than spend 20$ on tiny tacos.... but, the al pastor is pretty decent for canada. yellow corn is unforgivable though.
Good service, good food, pleasant environment. Great selection of beers too.
We had a great lunch today on the lovely patio. I had the lunch special with guacamole and chips, soup and two pork/pineapple tacos for $16. My husband had the brisket tacos and they were very good. We also had churros for dessert and they were delicious. Thanks for an amazing time!
The food is delicious ????????????
Nice atmosphere, service was nice, if you order tacos I will say they are spicy and not that big in size. Size of tacos is like doughnut size pretty much so if you’re really hungry this will be a expensive meal! Although they give you these really nice tasting candy at the end!
Went on a Friday evening and it was quiet busy. The wait was a bit long if you didn't have a reservation. Since it was a bit busier, service was a bit slow which was understandable. But the staff were great and very accommodating. As for the food and drinks, they were incredible. Hands down the best spot to grab tacos and appetizers.
Id like to start this review with a good point. Originally I ate here during the grand opening and the service was amazing. The atmosphere was very "high scale" and the interior was decorated amazing...not to mention, the food was even better. Since that visit it seems that the service has 100% gone downhill. I went with a group of 9 for brunch on a Sunday. Flat Rate. Menu is fixed/all you can eat style of brunch... which I thought is a great idea. My expectations were high. Our terrible experience happened after we put our order in. No exaggeration. the drink order we put in...it took over 40 minutes to get to us (despite following up with our server numerous times) Our food order took over an hour (keep in mind these are tapas style plates), Since it was taking so long we wanted to place our second round of orders through and were told that we couldn't place a 2nd order- as the "kitchen is not accepting any more orders at this time" - that reasoning continued for approx another 45 minutes.... Our server, though VERY apologetic, was young, and seemed very overwhelmed (which we felt terrible about) Our party was very patient and understanding that it was not our servers fault. Our food wasn't warm when it came out - which we chalked up to the duration of time it took to come out of the kitchen. I felt that they were not prepared, they were understaffed. and felt horrible that they continued to seat patrons- fully knowing that the service would be terrible. I wont be returning. as I'm sure most people that were there that day, would agree with me. Hopefully they fix the issue.
Very good. Mexican restaurants are pretty common now, so I have a level of expectation when visiting one. The drinks are great. Solid margaritas, tad to sweet. …
Great food and life in the clouds IPA from Collective Arts was amazing!
Food was great, service was average
$20 for a burrito and it's not even good. Just filled with lots of rice. Very disappointed.
Best latin food in town
Came in this past Saturday as a group of 4. The place was packed. Drinks took about 15 minutes and food about 35 minutes. I thought it was a touch long but as I said, it was busy so I wasn't expecting miracles. They did bring us house salsa and guac (that we did order) shortly after we got our drinks which helped bridge he gap between drinks and food. A lot of critics out there on this place. The food was straight up amazing. Can't wait for this place to work out all the bugs from the neh sayers. See you guys again soon.
Take out chicken burrito and taco special were scrumptious. Good portions for a decent price. Almost authentic too!
Think Mexican. Except pretentious, overpriced and confusing .Which as far as I'm concerned, makes it something other than mexican. Looking forward to what replaces it as it is a very nice looking restaurant.
Good food, great drinks.
Multiple visits of lovely food, atmosphere and service .
Guac was exceptional but the service and th tacos were just ok.
The food here is delicious! Chef Eduardo cooks delicious food and the service is 5 stars. The best Mexican food in the area of: Waterloo, London, Kitchener and Guelph. Definitely coming again!
This is a good Mexican restaurant in Guelph. Food was good and quality. Their tacos were so good and flauversome. I ordered through SkiptheDishers. But they do their own deliveries too. Will definitely try again later. Recommend this restaurant with five stars.
Amazing food and friendly service! Try the Pastor Tacos!
The food is good but you will always leave feeling hungry, which is disappointing because dinner for 2 with a few drinks will cost you over $100 easily. This restaurant tries to turn cheap Mexican street food into fine dining, so everything is over priced, and you leave feeling ripped off. The servers have been mostly friendly and it is a beautiful environment, but it isn't worth the money. Tacos are cheap because you traditionally eat a few of them, you don't charge people 6$ plus tax for a Taco. You get better Tacos for $2 at other Mexican restaurants. .
I get the impression that quality comes first here. There is a tangible commitment to the taste and appearance of the the dishes. They do not disappoint. Top notch tequilas and a very tasty house beer as well. Service is very friendly and competent.
This place had such friendly service, aesthetically beautiful and interesting decor and the food was amazing, very underpriced for the quality. Fresh, full of flavour, healthy, and beautifully plated. Can't wait to be back. People complaining that the food is overpriced (most of the dishes were between 8 and 20 dollars) are probably the same people who will spend 30 dollars on a mediocre bowl of pasta without hesitation.
Very good experience over all. Looking forward to a chance to enjoy a full meal.
We had a great dinner! We will definitely be back. Great service and delicious food, it was pricey but was well worth it.
Most affordable on the center square, none of their spicy beers are drinkable, the waitress warned me...
Great location and atmosphere. Slow srvice and the menu doesnt tell you exactly what you are ordering, so if you like to be suprised you will probably like it more than me.
I had three really amazing tacos here: great service, great flavors. We got free chips and salsa it was a very nice lunch. Loved the design of the restaurant as well.
It's definitely a great vibe and a fun place to hang out. The drinks are tasty! We had the tacos and they were okay. The guacamole isn't fresh, and there's a lot of mayo/cream added to the taco. The pulled pork was also dry. It wasn't the worst but also not the best. I did enjoy my time though.
Being Mexican myself this restaurant is not authentic mexican Cuisine..... the rice just because it's orange in color doesn't make it Mexican, the tacos have no taste to them. In Toronto you get Pico de Gallo with fried tortillas when you arrive at no charge, a plate with three tacos is served with rice and salad for $6.00 or $7:00. La Reina is too expensive and you'd think they'd invest some money into getting some air conditioner..it's boiling in there flies are all over the place. A young couple sitting beside us had a hair in their guacamol. Would i recommend this restaurant...no I would not! Los platos son muy costosos y muy pequeños ponganle mas sazon a la comida para que sea autentica. Que gran desepcion!
Fantastic food, fun vibes, a bit slow for lunch though
Place is very well located, Cozy and comfortable. Good for a family meal. Not very impressed with the tacos and Nachos i ordered.. Neither the Sangria was upto the mark. In short, the food failed to impress me.. My opinion only..
Beautiful restaurant! Service was amazing and the food was so delicious! ! Amazing! !
Always enjoy the food, especially the nortena; but recently super in love with the margarita gift bags from their impressive bottle shop. Such a quick and easy gift to grab - would love to see this continue beyond Covid!
Update: Specials and deals La Reina has makes this spot in the price range for a lot more people. Plus the food has gotten even better. The original issues when they first opened have definitely been addressed! Original review: Although La Reina seems to be trying to address complaints about the loud music and small portions, they still haven’t quite hit the mark. The cost per portion would be considered high even if this restaurant were in downtown Toronto (La Carnita in TO is comparable in quality, and charges less). That being said, the food is really delicious and the ambience is great. I will definitely be coming back, but not as often as I’d like as the price point just isn’t accessible to myself and many others.
The servers are friendly. Not really satisfy with food-price ratio, but its acceptable.
Amazing everything! I cant stop eating the tacos
Food was good except for the bulk quality tortilla chips and chicken tacos. Prices were ridiculous!!! If we go again, it would be a hard sell against other restaurants in that price range that actually serve a meal.
I was apprehensive about this place, because of the bad reviews I had heard from friends, and well I'm mexican, so when I hear about mexican food I would like to find familiar flavors, which has been hard to find here in Guelph. I tried the barbacha tacos in this place, the flavor was good, the size was good and I didn't mind to much about the price, since I could find the flavor I was looking for, whoever the salsa they put on the tacos wasn't enough and they don't offer you more of it to add, it would be nice have the choice to have more and more salsa . The place doesn't give the mexican vibe you need either.
You’ll receive larger portions visiting your great granny for a 4pm supper at the nursing home than you would here. Had to stop for a baconator on my way home to fill the tank. Could use some A/C, as it was hotter than Satan’s taint inside (to be fair, it was the hottest week of the year....but still). I’ll give them a second chance in a few months.
Delicious dinner. The tacos are so tasty and not just filled with lettuce.
Great service, fantastic drinks!
The quality and taste of food was average, however the service was extremely slow. In addition, our orders were mixed up 3 times, there servers were confused, and some of our cocktails came without any alcohol. The icing on the cake was that there is no A/C, and in sweltering heat (45 humidex) it was very uncomfortable sitting through drinks and dinner. At least good food would make up for many things, but our experience was average quality food.
Havenot tried the food, the bar attendant was decent and quick , cocktails were very good.
Fantastic foods!
They offered an exchange of food for currency. The exchange rate was poor. I miss my currency. The food was tasty. The temperature was authentically Mexican. I suspect Mexico is not as loud, though.
The atmosphere was poppin’ and they have a great menu and plentiful chips and salsa. The vegetarian menu wasn’t amazing.
We loved it! The food was delicious, dessert was awesome too and the waiters were very nice! The music was very cool too!
Awesome authentic Mexican, the food and service is great! The tequila selection is the best in the region, love this place!
What a wonderful experience! Service, food, and atmosphere were all amazing! The only negative is the food is rather pricey considering the small portions. If the prices were brought down a bit, this place would be a 5/5 for sure! Overall, La Reina is just the type of restaurant that Guelph needed :)
Always good food and drinks when we go there. Staff is always friendly. Definitely need to get the Mango Sticky Ribs!! We love the tacos, get 6 between the 2 of us and get the ribs as a side, don’t the forget the Margaritas!
Awesome place, great tacos.
Chilacos, Suadero taco and vegetarian taco and the Winter Margarita were all AMAZING
Excellent service, speedy and with a smile. Food was excellent, would recommend the nachos 10/10 times.
Waited 10 minutes on the patio and nobody asked if I wanted a drink, so I left.
Great place!!! Loved the brunch. Very mellow vibes. Great sunday brunch.
The food was amazing and would go again. But the server we had was not friendly at all and I'm pretty sure she forgot about us at time's. I'm rating this a 4 cause like I said food was amazing.
Very good food. Very nice ambiance. Good service. Would definely recommend.
We had a really horrendous experience this past Sunday while visiting for a charity car show that was going on the street adjacent. We had a group of 10 hungry people that just wanted tacos. We were seated quickly in an extremely loud atmosphere because of a DJ blasting annoying techno music. Quickly realized the menu is $35 all you can eat tacos with 3 drinks included. Amazing! Let's go! Ordered our first round of drinks and food. Our server was fabulous. 40mins later we get our drinks, and inquire about our food. He tells us they are incredibly busy and working on it. Restaurant looked like it was at 60% capacity. One of our party ordered a simple Coke as part of our initial order, and it took one hour to reach him. Another rod our party, arrived 10mins after us and was told she couldn't order food because the kitchen was overwhelmed LOL. She tried again 15mins later. Then 25mins later.... Nope. 1.5hrs into our experience, the food arrives. Can you imagine, how could you possibly order more food? We all ordered a small amount initially so we can taste and see what we liked... There is no opportunity to order more because you'd be there for 3hrs, and you're only allowed 2hrs as per their guidelines. The owner of this business was not present on this very busy day. He/she should be ashamed of themselves for leaving your amazing group of employees to suffer and fend for themselves amongst a restaurant full of angry and hungry patrons. Your bottomless brunch is an absolutely terrible idea. It's clearly not working out AT ALL. Either hire more staff and take control of your business, or adapt a new model. Needless to say, we all left hungry, and having to pay $35 plus 18% mandatory gratuity for an all you can eat buffet that basically felt like a scam. Food was not that good, and I'm assuming because it was rushed and made with no care whatsoever. Staff - Amazing 5/5 Restaurant - Terrible 0/5
Great service. The margaritas are great.
We have been at La Reina several times and love all that this new Mexican restaurant offers. The decor is outstanding, the music is lively and the atmosphere is electric. The food is amazing ... the guacamole and the churros are a must. The staff are attentive and helpful. Kudos to the owners, management and the very talented chefs for giving Guelph this wonderful restaurant.
A group of us came for dinner and drinks. The service made our gathering even better
The menu is a little bit far from the real Mexica food, tacos and burritos. There is not burritos with meet (pork and beef). In fact, restaurant put a few pieces of meet (see the picture). Sangria is just blacberry juice with some pieces of lime and lemon. When you seat down, please download the app to see the menu before the waitress come. Otherwise, you waste your time. No body tell you to do it.
Average Mexican restaurant in Guelph
The margaritas are ok but food is way overpriced for what it is. There are definitely better tacos pretty much anywhere else in Guelph.
AMAZING TACOS!! Some of the best I've ever had. They are cheep enough to order a few I would get three or four and try lots of different flavors.
Went for their "Bottomless brunch" today and was it ever worth the drive from Milton!!!! My friend and I spent almost two hours there chatting and eating and the food was very very tasty. If I was to pick a favorite taco I'd say the pastor taco was a hit! The servers were very nice and friendly and the wait between plates wasn't too long. Highly recommend going with a big appetite!
Slow service. Unfriendly, no smile no welcoming atmosphere.
We were excited to try this one out because we quite enjoy Mexican and guelph is lacking in Mexican food. The decor and wait staff were friendly but that's where the good review ends. I'll echo what others have already said, the portion sizes are small, the prices are high and while the food is flavourful, it doesn't warrant the price point. As I think most will agree, this is one of those places you'll only ever visit once. In a small place like guelph where repeat business is going to be the key to success, I have my doubts La Reina will withstand the test of time. Sad really because our community was really looking forward to the success of this place.
I don’t usually leave reviews but this was a must. I really wanted to try some Birria tacos and I didn’t have time to stop by downtown Toronto before heading to Guelph. I checked what was near me in Guelph and I had no idea La Reina had a Birria box... and I can’t even explain.... it was AMAZING. It’s a must try. I had to stop myself from eating all the tacos. The box comes with 8 tacos and a beef broth dip and many great sides. Also, I feared that once they got cold they wouldn’t taste the same. But I just popped one into the microwave for 15 second and still amazing. They also have a great bottle shop that includes clase azul. I’ll be back!!!!
This is a terrible place for anyone to dine at. Food is unreal with great talent behind it, however the Service and Ambience does not match. Service is very amateur.
Good food, great atmosphere but a tad on the pricier side for what is offered. All in all a good experience
Recently celebrated my wife's surprise 60th birthday party at La Reina with 30 plus guests. The servers were amazing and the food was excellent as usual. The staff at La Reina went out of their way to make sure that all guests were happy with the food, drinks, etc. Not a single complaint from our guests. This is a great place that can host large gatherings and you won't be disappointed. Thank you La Reina for a very enjoyable evening!
Too bad that the management is ignorant regarding the mask bylaw. I even called the restaurant ahead and told them I have a mask exemption. Manager was completely unaware and willfully discriminated against someone with a mask exemption. Will never be back.
DIY Taco kit is the best
Happy to have found this celiac safe place while visiting Guelph. Two of us went for lunch we both had the lunch special: guac & chips, 2 tacos and soup. Both of us were VERY happy with the food. it was so hard to choose as the menu had a lot of inspired and awesome sounding choices. My favorite was the brussel sprout taco! Service was great, the waiter was very friendly, personable and understood my concerns about gluten free foods and cross contamination. Love that the menu has a symbol for foods that do contain gluten rather than a gf symbol. There were only three things on the lunch menu that I could not eat. Meaning I am going to have to go back several more times to try all of the delicious sounding items.
Great food. A very loud and vibrant spot- so good for groups. Thanks for the experience!
Would give 0 stars if possible. Food was cold when it arrived at our table. Terrible service, our second round of drinks never came. My wife returned from the bathroom disgusted because she saw cockroaches crawling on the wall in her stall. It also smelt terrible down there. We asked for our bill and left immediately.
If you're a tequila lover, this is the place for you! Food was good but a little pricey for quantity. The wait staff could have been more engaging.
I was blown away by the deliciousness of the vegetarian tacos. Full flavour, lots of colour, beautiful presentation. Definitely going to come here again! Emma, our server was wonderful, the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend!! Don't miss this wonderful Guelph patio experience!
The tacos are generally delicious, except for the fish taco, which had more mayonnaise than I would have liked. Splurging on the steak taco is worth it and the vegetarian choices were both very tasty. On the downside, the open concept design made the restaurant a bit louder than I would have liked. Stay away from the sangria: the price being charged for a glass of half ice, half sangria is not worth it.
Huge improvement over previous establishment. Asked for cheapest round of tequila and it was $90 for 4 shots bring a few bucks.
Food is great! Margaritas are pretty good. Staff wasn’t overly friendly the last time I went but it was near the end of their shifts so I get it. Cool spot.
Found this place walking in downtown guelph before a concert. They have excellent tacos and beer. I would highly recommend!
Very good experience. I highly recommend the Aztec Soup and the Jaiba tostada. The service was excellent. We definitely will come back. Thanks Sarah for your attentions.
Good food , loved all the skulls
Went there for margaritas. Really good drinks! However when we went and we sat down, no one helped us at our table. We weren’t sure if we were supposed to go to the bar or wait for a server. When we saw that there were other tables being helped we figured we would continue to wait. When we finally figured we should go to the bar, the bar bartender was kind of rude. It’s a very nice atmosphere but doesn’t seem to have the best customer service.
Love this place! Went there last night with my husband and we were so pleased with EVERYTHING! The food was incredible, drinks were tasty , the atmosphere was amazing and our waitress, Dora was adorable. Was very informative about the menus, was funny, and sweet. She even spoke Spanish to us! We had an amazing time, and will definitely come back!
I was very hesitant to try La Reina based on the multitude of negative reviews concerning the prices. After visiting and ordering off their late night menu I can confidently say that the prices are too high. This isn't to say that the food is bad. In fact, the food was delicious and some of the best guacamole and green salsa I've ever had. The cocktail I had was good, but again, overpriced. The decor and atmosphere was lovely, and the servers accommodated our request for quieter seating by opening a more private closed section. I believe the prices need to drop between 10-20% for La Reina to become a regular destination for me and my wife. This isn't us being cheap or undervaluing the food quality either; we love to dine out and are willing to pay fair value for excellent food.
We only had a drink, app and dessert, but everything was great!
Ngl my burrito had a lot of fat in it and was gross, no interesting flavours or textures. Vegetarian friend found a piece of meat in burrito. Churros as comp were super undercooked. $8 a small taco is way too much, and only 2 - won’t fill up most people. Drinks too expensive. Don’t recommend
Beautiful food, Amazing staff. Their sunday brunch is a must try!
Dine in
Terrible service, completely over priced and under flavoured food - this is the worst spot around for Mexican
Absolute worst customer service. Have tried twice to order online and it was declined. My Husband and I also tried to go inside during the summer when indoor dining was allowed with COVID protocols. The doors were locked. Awful. Avoid at all costs
very tasty food but it takes a long time to attend
Such a great place! Amazing food and our waiter was fantastic!
So disappointed! First time trying here, and after this experience, I'd only come back for drinks...not food! The 2 stars are for the drinks and the apologetic service from the young male server..(there was an event on and service was slow). The main issue I had was the food was just not good...three tasteless, tiny and soggy soft taco's that were just not worth the $18 (with tax) that was being charged! I would go as far to say they were the worst taco's I've had in Guelph. At nearly $100 for our meal (2 sets of 3 soggy taco's, a small bowl of dry nachos with guacamole, 4 domestic drinks), I was left feeling I had wasted my money! A menu re-think, better service and more value for money is needed. I understand now why reviews are so poor. Sad.
Been here multiple times.. service can be hit or miss. Food is generally pretty good.
Service is a little slow, but great setting and fair prices!
Love the food! I wish employees were not outside the takeout door smoking. I saw one of them coming back from smoking and not washing his hands before starting cooking as you can see the whole kitchen from the takeout area.
We were very excited to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint! Atmosphere is awesome - the place was buzzing! For the flavor, quality and how full we felt rolling out of there, the pricing seemed appropriate and on par with other Mexican restaurants in T.O. Even though the restaurant was packed, our food and drinks came quickly (Highly recommend the pomegranate ginger margarita)...and don't leave without rounding out with the Churros for dessert. Cannot wait to go back to try other items on the menu!
Great food, margaritas, service and music. What more could you want?
Not your typical Mexican place. More modern...but authentic Mexican flavors. If you want to save money they have specials. Everyday from 3 to 6 pm is half price tacos and tequila. Taco Tuesdays ... tacos for 5 bucks.
Great environment, service and food.
Food was absolutely delicious, service was good, and their outdoor dining space was glorious.
Food and drinks here are way over-priced; it would be forgivable, except the quality of food and service leaves much to be desired. $6.50 will get you a fish taco with overcooked (dry) fried fish. This price includes only a single taco. Want a steak taco? That will run you $9.00. Chicken flautas were also extremely dry and overcooked. Maybe forgivable if the prices were more reasonable, but they aren't. You are going to be thirsty after all that dry meat. Don't worry though - you can wash it down with a mediocre (too sweet) margherita! You would be wise to ration your sips though - the wait staff won't be checking on you with any regularity. Probably your money is going towards maintaining the ambience. Oh wait....they don't seem to have adequate AC, so it is uncomfortably warm. Maybe that is the part of the experience that is supposed to feel like an authentic outing in Mexico. ;). Look elsewhere for your fix for Mexican cuisine.
Great restaurant. Had two drinks here, Classic Margarita and the El Fashioned with mezcal. Both fantastic. Food we ate were the Lamb tacos also very delicious. Our server, I believe name was Aldo (maybe spelling it wrong, sorry) was very helpful. If you are celiac like myself or ar gluten intolerant they have plenty of options. Will definitely be returning.
Best margaritas in town!
We went for a Romantic dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. We didn't know what to expect because of the reviews we had read. The food was VERY good, we tried porc, chicken, beef, crab, haddock, chorizo and it was all good. The servings were what I would expect for a Tapas type meal. We spent 70$ on food and let's say the last 2 tapas we ordered, were too much but we wanted to try them. So for 50$ we had plenty of food. ** We had a lot more food then at French Artisanale, that is also a tapas type restaurant, for about 100$ less** The Tequila selection is quite impressive and the waitress mention that they were planing on doing Tequila Sampling/tasting in the near future. The only thing I would change would be Free Guacamole/tostitos (most upscale restaurant have free bread ) They need a bigger variety of Spicy sauce & Spicy food We will definitely go back and recommand the place
Very well kept and accessible restaurant. They provide large meals and for fair prices. We enjoyed the meals a lot and the waiters were super welcoming and explanatory. I recommend this place.
This place is the best Mexican food in Guelph that I have had in my life. I asked about what their best meals are, and the staff recommended three different tacos. I can honestly say that I will be back multiple times for these unbelievable tacos. I had a chicken, steak and pork taco. I thought the prices were definitely fair for the fresh ingredients that were on the table. If you want to go on a cheap night Tuesday it's five dollar taco night. Overall the staff, food and atmosphere was definitely top notch. I will be there on the regular when I have a craving for Mexican.
Great place to hang out. Staff is friendly crowd is great
Service was slow and rude. Bartender was nice and other staff but we got the wrong guy apperantly.
Wow. What a experience. The restaurant was newly renovated and my wife and I were very impressed with the new look. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and from then on the staff always made sure we had what we needed. We started off with several appetizers as we couldn't decide what to get....everything on the menu looked good. So good that we ordered more appetizers because it was so much fun to share the one plate. One of the managers came to our table to see how we were doing. I appreciated that as that rarely happens. We topped it off with a couple exotic drinks and that capped it off. We are planning to go back soon so this time we can actually experience the dinners. We have heard from friends that they are out of this world. Check this place out. Right in the heart of downtown Guelph.
Really weird dining experience at La Reina. The food was alright and the drinks were good. Service was...alright at best. Our main issue was with the extremely passive aggressive sign out front "Now hiring. People who actually show up." We asked our server about it as we have a daughter who just started at the university looking for a part time job...we asked our server as she dropped off our bill, "What is going on with that sign? Is this a good place to work?" she literally looked stunned and shook her head "no" vigorously. Not a good look. Literally minutes later we witness what Im assuming is the owner barking orders at another staff. Yikes. Say no more. We wont be back.
Went with some gals a few weeks ago and had a terrific experience. Best margarita I've had in this province bar none. I had the shrimp entre and it was perfect however other than a small bed of grilled pineapple there was no sides - a bit disappointing for 25 bucks. The others were quite delighted with their meals. I agree with those who are saying the prices don't match the portions but I'm so sick of quasi mex in this city I'm happy to go back and pay a bit more. Absolutely authentic and well thought out menu. Our server was exceptional - true pro! Talked me into a $20 shot of tequila! I can't wait to go back! Loved it.
This place is amazing. We went to their take out part and got a beautiful burrito made with their home made hot sauce. Watching the chef making it was worth getting the burrito. He put so much love into it and it was DELICIOUS!!!! Watching him make it was magical, like watching chefs plate. I would 100% recommend. The restaurant itself has great tacos and such a cool environment and decorated space.
Food is excellent. Prices are reasonable. Will come back regularly.
I just got back from an early dinner. The staff was nice. The food was fast. But it was expensive. We kept having to order more guacamole and salsa. I had 1 taco and she had 2. We both ordered a drink, they were ok. But the overall price was crazy. $80+ and we are not full bellies. Tacos were 6.50 and 9. So total we had 3 tacos 3 guacamole 2 salsa and 2 drinks. Almost 90 dollars. It is too expensive for the location. I miss salsateria!!!!!!!! After coming back a 2nd time and also ordering in. I changed my review front 2 to 5 stars. Everything improved. Pricing has made it more accessible for people to eat here. The iso kit for 2 is perfect.
Our server, Teddy, was great. Love the decor.
Good. Very fresh tasting tacos but, small portion size. would go here for drinks as prices are more competitive.
Very meager servings...nice atmosphere
Good taco deal during happy hour... but otherwise found meat/fish overcooked and crunchy. Flavours tasted the same amounts tacos. Not my favourite.
Best Mexican in the city bar none.
The renovation and decor are lovely. The drinks were delicious too! I must compliment the chefs on their nicely balanced spices as the food was not too hot to handle. As with other reviewers, I would say some of the menu items were a bit expensive, but if you are looking for some reasonably priced and yummy tacos this is a great place to go! The only issue I really have here is that I had a reservation and was told that "people aren't leaving as soon as we had thought, so your table isn't ready but we can put you at the bar or bring a smaller table with an extra chair." This happened to me the other time I tried to go here as well, and we ended up with not being seated (though we didn't make a reservation). I have been at other restaurants where I have been told by the waiter that there is a reservation for my table at 6pm or told that people are waiting when our bill shows up. I just think its a bit frustrating to show up for a reservation and be told your table won't be ready.
The absolute most authentic I've had in Ontario. Definitely reminds me of the local stands from Mexico, except with a classy atmosphere.
We stay here15 min at least at the table waiting for attention... worse place we visit
Overall kind of disappointed....Atmosphere is great food tasted pretty good but it’s too expensive for what you get so we likely won’t be returning unfortunately
UPDATE- CHECK YOUR BILL BEFORE PAYING- I ordered one small margarita $9.50, they charged me $24 dollars!! Thank goodness I checked, told the waitress, "sorry I entered the wrong tab".. right... Good margaritas, plenty of food, reasonable price. It used to be very expensive and small portions, but seems like they have corrected both, third time attending and last two have been very satisfactory, hence the review keep it up!
Delicious food and drink. Excellent and convivial service.
It went from being Van Gogh's Ear which was a ton of food and affordable to this place that has tiny, bite-sized portions that are very expensive. Mediocre food. Extremely overpriced. We also couldn't order draft beer as we were told the kegs were all warm. The waitress also told us the tacos are already made in a pre-mix and not made to order.
Delicious food but prices not sustainable for a small college town. Will probably not return regularly. Paid $150 for 2 adults and a baby. Left feeling hungry.
Best Mexican place in Guelph. Also the most expensive. Worth it in my opinion, but the price is to be considered. Cool atmosphere and decor with great service. My Personal favorite was the Taco Albeitar.
Bad prices, bad tasting food, terrible portion sizes, staff not knowledgable about the menu (it’s not in English), food took forever to arrive. We were the only two people in the whole restaurant- made for quite an awkward atmosphere as it was completely silent, no music or anything (arrived around 8:30pm on a Thursday) Would not recommend
They can’t handle high demand at all, I had a horrible time waiting to get seated on Jul 3rd 2021 and after writing our name in the wait list and waiting for 3 hours I had to run to Beertown hoping they would still have the kitchen open to have something to eat. But the way, they never send the text giving me a table and we even asked many times to the staff if we could still get a spot, their answer was : “please hang around, you’ll receive the text soon”. I’ve been at La Reina before and the food is really good, this is why I was willing to go from Waterloo to Guelph and wait 3 hours to get sited, I thought food worth it. But after this experience I left extremely disappointed of the service and upset because many of the customers were not even eating , they were there only for drinks. So if you want to have a good dinner and enjoy good food on summer you better give it a second thought before waisting your time here.
Awesome food tastes just like authentic tacos from Mexico. Only problem is servings are tiny 6.50$ for a single! taco the size of a CD. If the owner reads this make the servings bigger!
Loved everything about our visit! We shared the enchiladas, queso, and quesadilla and neither of us good choose a favourite dish because it was just that good. And those Margaritas? Don't even get us started!
Really yummy tacos and wow the maragritas are awesome!
Love the drinks and food and vibes
Good prices on taco Tuesday. Ok food.
Great food and atmosphere
Best tacos in Guelph. Served family style and most items on the menu are gluten free. I eat here regularly and will continue to enjoy the food. Great vibe and customer service.
Delicious flights of margaritas!
My partner and I stumbled upon La Reina for brunch this morning and thought we'd try it out, not expecting anything more than alright breakfast fare. We were very surprised and pleased with our whole experience! Our server (Emily I think?) was warm and gracious as soon as we stepped in. We had the Huevos Rancheros, Huevos con Chorizo and the Mexican bread pudding. Every dish was delicious, well thought-out and beautifully presented. My Huevos Rancheros had pork belly that was perfectly seasoned and the skin was super crispy! The bread pudding (which my partner and I shared) was a delicate balance of sweetness, refreshing tangy yogurt, and the bread itself was a textural wonderland of toasty-crusted bread and soft spongy inside. I'm definitely gushing a little, but the food here is well worth the try. Jose the chef as well as Kerri the FOH manager were very warm and welcoming, and we had the chance to speak with both in person about our experience. Overall one of the finest dining experiences I've had in Guelph in a long time. 10/10!! Will definitely be back!
EDIT Feb 17 2019: Very different experience on my second visit, so I dropped a star, down to three. The music was way too loud, we asked if they could turn it down, and they did, for a little while, then it was loud again. Ridiculous, could hardly hear each other speak at our table. Also, my partner got a ceviche, which was a tiny, tiny bowl for I think $11. Insane price. I had rice, which was admittedly good, but for $14 with not very much else on it. Seems like good prices until you see what you actually get for it. They also brought things out in bad timing, and some were left eating after almost everyone was finished. The servers apologized though, and gave us some free churros for dessert, which was kind. Service was generally quite good, except for the music issue (which was bad). I think it's because they trying to create a particular club-like mood, which I, and I think others, weren't into. Please turn down your music, and I'll consider going back. The servers were the only thing that saved this from 2 star rating. Feb 13th 2019: Only been there once, will probably improve this review as I try it again. My first impressions were that I really liked it! Some new things on the menu I hadn't heard of, which is refreshing. Probably still a bit too much meat, especially considering the new Canada food guide, but it all looks quite good nonetheless. There was a rice dish my friends ordered that was very great. The quinoa salad with cheese and pecans was very nice too. Prices must have been lowered since some of these comments as they weren't that bad. The mains we're getting up there. For me, will probably be a trust lunch place to go with friends to in Guelph.
Bar tender Teddy, Very friendly, we like popping in from time to time. Always been good
Really cool vibe. Excellent authentic Mexican food. Definitely expensive, but worth it if you like Mexican. It's going to take a while for the locals to get used to the higher price point compared to Salsateria and other student priced restaurants.
Food was ok, service was good, prices were high. One expects complimentary chips and salsa at authentic Mexican, here you pay for a very small portion of salsa to go with a slightly bigger portion of chips. Menu is confusing: there are main sized appetizers and vise versa. Prices were inline with Toronto prices, fine for commuters, and ok to try once, but repeat business will be their downfall. Overall meh, wouldn't return.
Great food and service will be back.
portions are incredibly small. i don't think ive been so disappointed in the food at a restaurant before. we got flautas for apps and they were smaller than typical spring rolls, and were extremely poorly seasoned and a complete let down. tasted like unseasoned chicken strips inside plain tortillas, yuck. tacos were slightly better but again very small, at most 3 bites (and I'm a small girl). still poorly seasoned, does salt exist in this restaurant?? we promptly left after our "dinner" and had to go to a different restaurant to actually feel full.
The food was great. My friend and I got the guac ,jaiba tostada and sweet sandia to start. Three tacos each; was really good. The chicken stoodout. Churros paired with the hoja santa anglaise was delicious. I would definetly recommend this place for a modern take on Mexican food. To those upset with the price it’s a really well done upgrade to what was once Salsateria and the food delivered. There is always a chain nearby for those who’ve been out clubbing and just need something economical. Other wise I will be back!
Food was terrible, not authentic Mexican. Can not recommend for dinner.
Great Food! Great Atmosphere! Great Staff! We Also went on a Day they were Closed and one of the Owners Opened Up for us to do Our Engagement Shoot there.
Really upset after our experience yesterday. I used to live in Guelph and I went here a few times when it first opened and the service and food was great. I wanted to treat my partner to a nice date yesterday so we came from out of town (40 min away) after a long day hike. As we walked in I saw another group looking at the sandwich board and I told them it was great food in here (Which I regret in hindsight). Our server told us to sit anywhere we like, so we walked in a bit more to look around. Our server didn’t even let us choose before she assumed a table and started flapping menus down. She seemed irritated by us already even though we just arrived even though we apologized for the confusion. She came to ask us if we wanted drinks about 10 minutes after sitting, and we kept trying to flag her down for a bottle of water since we’d been in the sun all day. She kept ignoring us, even after two attempts at going up to the bar. The last straw for us was when she finally came over after ignoring my partner at the bar and just quickly uddered that our food shouldn’t take much longer (after waiting 35 minutes) - and she just walked away. Then I yelled and asked her for water and she just walked away from me as if she didn’t hear me. We just left cash for our drinks on the table and left; at which point they chased us out and started yelling at us accusing us of not paying our bill. That’s appalling... you NEVER embarrass your customers in public like that! They yelled at us right in front of the other group who I so proudly recommended this place to. It’s a hard thing to say, but we both left feeling confused for why we were treated so poorly compared to others in the restaurant. My partner is Sri Lankan and that was the first time I’ve heard him say that he felt that he was treated differently because of his skin colour. Whether that’s true or not, no customer should pay for a service where they feel so disrespected and neglected. Never going back.
Food was good. Portions are not good. 2 bites and my taco is done. Its dinner we want to eat. The Staff was great. La Reina you got a good thing just feed you customers. Listen to your reviews
Ordered the guacamole to share, lacked flavour. I ordered 1 vegetable taco, 1 cauliflower taco and chicken taco. The 2 veg tacos the veggies were undercooked and lack flavour. The chicken was okay. I had to put the hot sauce on all of it. The other person I was with ordered the steak special. The steak was very chewy. The stuffed pepper with crab meat tasted like it was canned crab.the empanada with goat cheese was good. He put hit sauce on everything too. Ordered 2 drink which were a 4 out of 5. Great decor. Overall a disappointmenting meal experience. As it stands wouldn't recommend this place to eat. The manager asked how we found our meals we were hesitant but finally honest. We explained it wasn't her fault. Kitchen needs to work on the food 4 sure.
Great food and nice atmosphere
This is the best meal in town. Authentically Mexican but also creative and pushing the bar. And the vibe is hot.
Ive been here 3 times. The food is great. Day time service is amazing, night time service was ok. Fun decor, feels trendy without feeling dressy. Try the azteca soup.
This place doesn’t have the reviews it should; its a fantastic spot and the food is consistently amazing. Pastor tacos are the best I’ve had anywhere and margaritas are on point
Amazing lunch Thank you.
The authenticity of the food amazing. Great service and atmosphere!
Amazing food and atmosphere! We had the Aztec soup, cheese fundito and tacos...some of the best food ever...and what an incredible interior/decor!! We will be back.
Very much improved in it's time since opening, wonderful food and a great addition to Guelph
Very well executed high end Mexican in a beautiful space.
I read the reviews before coming here and went in with expectations of a pricier meal, with small portions. I have been to Mexico and been surrounded by Mexicans for almost 3 decades. I also cook...a lot, and have learned many techniques. I also spent a long time in hospitality. Most North Americans have no idea what real Mexican cuisine is. It has been destroyed here with fast food versions of Tex Mex cuisine. Full of fat, salt and cheap cuts of filler food. We think that Mexican should be cheap food because of Taco Bell. This place is more expensive... Yes. But worth it. This is authentic beautiful Mexican food. Labour intensive - making tortilla the right way takes time... Slow cooking meat on the bone in Chilis and seasonings so that it falls off the bone in beautiful juicy morsels takes time. The salsas have that amazing smoky undercurrent that can only be found in authentic Mexican food. Making mole requires a skill in itself. Most of us also think flour tortilla is part of Mexican cuisine.. it is NOT. A proper corn tortilla hits your stomach hard .. and sits longer. You do not need to eat as much in volume in corn tortilla as you do with wraps. The waitress was lovely and explained how the menu work. This place serves family style. So you order an entrada ... Then a ceviche or tostada, .. or a taco each. Then a main... Perfectly shared between two... Along with a drink. If you think you are still hungry... Wait 20 minutes for those corn tortillas to hit your stomach.. The interior open to the outdoors with no AC and the loud music makes it even more authentic!! This is Mexico... In downtown Guelph. The glasses are the thick rimmed glasses that one gets in Mexico. The dishes are rustic, and the decor is beautiful... Very Mexican... Can hardly wait to tell my Mexican friends about this place.
10 out of 10! We went in on a Saturday night to have a drink and maybe something to munch on, the bartender recommended the tartar tosta (it was bomb) the atmosphere was very pleasant and the interior design is very nice. Next day we came to check out the brunch and the huevos rancheros are by far the best brunch meal I have ever had! The tacos are so flavourful. Highly recommend
Atmosphere was good
Went for lunch with a friend, thoroughly enjoyed our meals, ambience and service. Forget all the idiotic comments about cost, there is a double standard when it comes to high end Mexican dining, people want cheap here, but will pay $20 for a plate of pasta at high end Italian restaurants. The price is in line with other fare of similar quality in Downtown Guelph. La Reina is a welcome addition to the dining scene in Guelph and I'll be back!
The best Mexican food in Guelph by far. Very fairly priced for the quality but if you go in during a time of specials, it's a steal! The all you can eat brunch is the best menu!
Service: friendly and knowledgeable. Our server made our experience a true 5 star visit. Atmosphere/Decor: Loved the artwork on the walls and the overall design. One thing I think I would have appreciated more is some authentic Mexican music to match the authentic Mexican cuisine. Not a dealbreaker, though. Drinks: can you say "tequila"? Quite impressed with the care put into their drink menu, including the full page of tequila shooters. I myself had the Mezcalarita and I was impressed by its flavour. Very smokey! Food: the most important part. Ordered the queso fundido and the steak burrito. Found the portion of the queso fundido to be a tad small to share with 2 people, but extremely delicious. The burrito is what took my heart, however. I have never had a more tasty and satisfying burrito in my life. It was so good that I would go back just for that, even if everything else about the restaurant sucked (which it didnt, go be clear!) I just really want to illustrate how good this burrito was. Can't wait to be back!
Delicious food; great service; cool decor; great music!
Super Tasty and super fresh, atmosphere was amazing however the value for your money is not great. Very pricey and very small portions, I feel like you either leave broke or hungry.
La reina have totally lost the whole Mexican taste, seems to be a different chef, and reduced the quantity of tacos per plate at a higher cost, queso fundido is at best melted local cheese, burritos al pastor don’t even have cilantro that is the basic ingredient of el pastor not authentic like before at all service with less people is at best mediocre, Covid or not what has happened to la reina is to bad, probably will never return here! Better go to burrito boys!
Cool vibe, excellent food.
Went the other night with a group of friends, the restaurant was empty, we waited for 15 minutes for the wait staff to even acknowledge us. They didn't bother providing a menu until we walked up to the bar and ordered drinks... Unbelievably poor service 2020 update: Decided to try this place again, still terrible service. Last time for me. Strongly advise passing on this place.
Something has to change if this place wants to stay in business. The food was decent, but is way over priced for what you get. $8 for a tiny bowl of guac and a bowl of chips and $7 for a single taco is not worth the money. i don't even want to know what kind of margins they are making on food in this place.
The servers were friendly and nice, but the food was pretty bad. Margaritas were probably the worst I’ve ever had. I would give it a 1 star, but the staff was nice.
Out for dinner on a rainy night and had a great experience. New menu with changed pricing and great new options was a hit! Had some fantastic new cocktails and tacos, as well as some of our favorites from the old menu. Atmosphere and service were top notch. Any questions we had were answered with clear knowledge. We recently travelled to Mexico and can say La Reina matches our top dining experience there in terms of flavour. Will definately continue to be back!
BRUNCH! Drink specials and amazing Mexican style brunch, highly recommended!
I have been here many times and always had a great experience. The staff are friendly and professional, the service was great, and the restaurant atmosphere was super cool and funky. The food here is amazing too. They have lots of good vegetarian options. Their brunch is incredible too. And the portion sizes are actually reasonable and not humungous which I am extremely appreciative of. The food tasted super fresh as well. I have no complaints and highly recommend you check out this mexican restaurant!!
Service quick and friendly. Flavours of dishes were tasty, but the portion size to price ratio will keep me from returning. We paid 15 dollars for a handful of ice burg lettuce and three peach slices. The 5 inch tacos ranged from 6.5$-9$ and while we're a nice mix of flavours, were very small and unsatisfying. Cocktails were creative but the bar was out of some flavours, and again small portions for the price 10.5$. Our bill totalled to almost 90$ and we left feeling hungry and disappointed.
Good was great and they have a wonderful lunch special
Totally disappointed we drove 1.5 hr to this place, we have them on instagram they should advice their customers that that have private events.
They refused to move us out of the sun and the tables are white it was unbearable
Very good mexican food
The food and tequila were both amazing. Our serve Beth was very knowledge about all the tequilas on the menu and it definitely made our experience. Highly recommend the shrimp taco and the mezcals tequila :)
Brian (Bryan?) was the only one working on a night where most other places were closed due to the weather. Despite this, he still gave us some of the best table service I've ever received. Just a great guy who makes great drinks, whatever you're paying him, it's not enough.
Great location, o.k food, and good service.
Authentic Mexican, amazing atmosphere, great staff!
Excellent food, great service !
Everything is way overpriced. Food wasn't great. If you've been to Mexico and are looking for authentic this isnt quite there. I wouldn't really recommend as it is.
This place is not worth your calories and money. Plus, customer service is horrible and it is the least authentic Mexican place I have ever been. My recommendation is to try so many other places in downtown with better food and more friendly staff. STAY AWAY!!
We love Mexican and found this place by luck. What a find! The restaurant has been done very classy and will not disappoint when it comes to its authentic feel and ambience. We had the lunch special. It came with guacamole and chips, two tacos of choice and a margarita. Taco shells are clearly homemade and each of the tacos we tried were delicious. The margaritas are delicious and clearly made with great care and precision. Service was also great.
This place should have a way higher rating. I was skeptical after seeing the Google reviews, but my wife loves Mexican food so we had to give this place a go. Everything we had was terrific- great beer selection, very high quality food, friendly and professional service. My wife (who has had her share of sangria) gave the sangria top marks. Anyone who says this place is too expensive has never left Guelph. Good food isn't cheap, and this place is far from the most expensive date night in town. Anyone who says this place is "inauthentic" needs to get over the taco they had in Texas/Arizona/ cruise trip to Mexico and off their high horse. This place rocks.
Excellent food. Great explanations????.
What a welcome change downtown Guelph! This place is a nice breath of air, and is something completely different than anything else Guelph has to offer! Don’t come here expecting crappy bulk tacos, but keep your mind open to trying their amazing and authentic Mexican food! They have a huge tequila selection and they serve their food family style, which is really fun and different! Come here for an awesome experience! I recommend this place to anybody!
Atmosphere is great! Service was quick and friendly. However reservations for 7 pm and the bar was out of 3 Margherita options. Price is outrageous for VERY small portions. Spent $60 on what felt like two appetizers worth of food. $12 for 3 croquettes that were smaller than a Timbit.
Attended La Reina for lunch with coworkers just shortly after its opening. The atmosphere was great - really love the work that was put into the décor and vibe. The service was also good, everyone was friendly, obviously with its opening being so close there were a few small kinks which I'm sure will be worked out once they get a few weeks under their belts. The food was good, I've been to a few taco places in and around Ontario and feel that these were similar to those I have had. The portions are incredibly small. I had the lunch special with 2 tacos and a soup, and after tax/tip it was $22 and I wasn't close to full and that wasn't including any kind of beverage. Overall I enjoyed the experience, but would be hesitant to regularly visit due to pricing as it would be very costly at dinner with a few drinks also included.
This was one of the worst culinary experiences of my life. The service and food quality, coupled with the portion sizes made me want to shoot myself in the foot and strangle myself with a plastic bag. I would literally rather develop gangrene and sepsis than return to this establishment again. Bart
I love the food, and the decor is beautiful
Actually horrible
If I could give 0 stars, I totally would. This place is definitely not worth your money, please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. First, we were sat at a very dirty table which the server didn’t even clean. She then pretty much shoved the menu. I had asked for quesadilla to be made without pork, she said no. Then I asked for their burritos to be made without bacon and again no, because there mix is pre made, then I ordered one of their tacos which was super tiny and not tasty at all. My friends didn’t like their meal at all. I don’t think ill ever come back, and will NOT recommend.
Excellent experience... delicious food and really good service. I love this place!
Food was just spiced no flavor sever didn't know what was on the menu. We asked if she could run thru and tell us about the item. All we got was it Mexican. Think we knew that. Even the margarita was low grade teqilia and fruit juice in fruit juice glass. Won't ever go back worse ever had.
Overpriced for ridiculously small portions.
Great food and delicious cocktails.
Food, atmosphere and staff are all fantastic!!!
Not impressed. Expensive to start, and small portions. Both of these are fine if the food is amazing. But its not.
This is a nice place for tacos and tequilas. Since they opened the product has improved, the service has gotten better. The tacos are delicious and fresh. The options are good - and there are great options for vegetarians as well.
It was my birthday and an amazing lady there Molly just made my dayyy by offering me Churritos on the house
Food was fresh and authentic Mexican. Need to get the recipe for their margaritas. One of the better places to eat in Guelph.
no offense, but honestly, I should go to Barburrito, for both better taste, bigger portion and way cheaper, my wife need to cook for herself at home again after spend 100 dollars at La Reina
Breakfast was very tasty.
It was so nice to finally be on a patio after so long. The patio was on the road, but the road was closed for the restaurant patios to be opened! We ordered the green mole enchiladas. It seemed expensive, but in reality worth the flavor, even after you take it home! The ceviche del Mercado was pretty good, but it didn't have too much fish. I liked the chips that came with it. It wasn't too salty and it worked well with the 4 different salsas and ceviche. The al pastor tacos had pork and pineapples, lime, onion, and avocado salsa. I liked it, but if you don't like pineapples, it may not be for you. I would definitely go back again. The vibe on the patio was awesome!
Amazing authentic tacos and great drinks
The food at the Restaurant is amazing, it was like eating in Mexico. I tried the Margaritas and the brisket, my family tacos al pastor. It was worth the waiting. I look forward to go back.
Tequila. Mexican corn. Tequila. Absolutely worth the trip if you enjoy a quality margarita or straight up agave based tequila.
Quality was good. Prices are steep. Service was not great.
Super cool vibe, great staff, great food. Check this place out!
Super shocked at the bad reviews! I loved this place! The food was amazing, and the drinks were good too. The patio has a great vibe, and the inside is super cool as well. Not giving 5 stars because they advertised brunch on their online menu but when we got there they didn’t have it
Food was great, service was lacking a little.
So sad the tacos were soggy wet mess, so bland in flavour definitely not worth the drive or price
Delicious food. The fish tacos are amazing!!
They made me a vegetarian burrito even though it wasn't in the menu.
Fancy but cool!
I'll give La Reina a caveated four stars. If you are budget conscious, you will probably want to skip this one - definitely not the best bang for your buck. However - and it's a big however -everything was very good. Delicious fresh flavours and dishes you can't get anywhere else in Guelph. Decor is nice too. As others have said it's quite loud. My wife and I each got the two tacos and a soup or salad lunch combo. At $17 it's a bit overpriced ($13-$15 would seem fair) and comes with a small plate of chips and guacamole. We also each got a cocktail ($10.50). The tacos were superb, my soup was really good and unique, and both cocktails hit the spot. That said, the drinks were a bit small and I could have easily eaten a third taco. Service was fast and friendly (less than an hour for lunch). I will definitely return.
Love the burrito and chips and salsa!
Fun ambience, enjoy the patio & street closure in downtown Guelph. Food pricey, menu trying to be fancy instead is confusing. Not typical Mexican food, no rice or beans as sides or substitutes, limited vegetarian options (some income fish?) & small portions/no sides. Friendly staff.
Great food, tasty drinks, good prices, friendly service and awesome vibe. Will definitely be back!
Nice music, good drinks
Disappointing. For a new place, they should be doing everything possible to bring up their subpar rating. The waitress seemed very meh the whole time, she didn't know what was in the ceviche, didn't know the fish of the day advertised on the menu, forgot the guac that came with the combos. My ceviche was TINY(check photo). The contents could fit in the palm of my hand. This should be advertised as a $5 taster, it had only a few bits of fish that wouldnt be enough to fill a taco. Disappointed in the service, food portions and quality. Being back van goghs and salsateria.
The service was fantastic we had Cheyene! She was attentive and made our experience a great one. Food was alright drinks were good. Ask for her section when your there you won’t be disappointed!
This Mexican restaurant is great! The patio is definitely the nicest and biggest in downtown Guelph and the hostesses and servers are very kind. The chef is amazing, great food. 10/10
The food is awesome!!! The best experience on Mexican food!!! I want to congratulate the owners and stuff for the great job that day perfom!!!!!
Great atmosphere, fantastic selection of Tequilas, Cat (server) was very good
I've enjoyed La Reina a few times now and have love it every time! Great food (can't go wrong with the taco's) and an awesome selection of tequila and beer.
Ordered delivery through an app and the food is SOOOO good! I got the fish tacos and they taste kind of like if British fish and chips got a flavour makeover. The tortilla was a little soggy, but really what did I expect ordering a sauce heavy taco from the other side of the city? I can imagine they would be spectacular fresh in restaurant. (Also, for the restaurant: there are these cardboard taco holders available that would greatly improve the quality of the food for delivery/takeout by helping the tortilla stay crispy bc I know they were perfect when they left the restaurant) I was anticipating them being very spicy, but they weren't at all, which pleased my boring white girl taste buds. If you're actually Mexican or just used to a lot of spice to your food then adjust your expectations accordingly. Still very flavourful but not spicy. I was worried that the two tacos would be too much for me and that it might be something to split but it isn't. The portions are small but excellent and two tacos was the perfect size. Guac and chips were delicious but nothing to write home about. Better quality and quantity than the chips and guac at fast food burrito places, but I would expect that for the price. Overall I really enjoyed my food and would definitely order from here again. Would recommend.
Great atmosphere. The food was amazing. The flavours and variety were fantastic and authentic. Incredible value for the quality and portion sizes. I’m glad I was not swayed by some negative reviews as this is a place which will become a regular on my dining out repertoire.
Gave La Reina a chance once and won't go back. The food was mediocre, 3 ingredients and so, so overpriced. The aesthetic/vibe just comes across as bougie and exclusive to me, seems like they just use it as an excuse to jack up prices. It's such a shame that Van Gogh's and salsateria were replaced by this place because there's nowhere to get good authentic Latin street food in Guelph now.
Great fish tacos! Lamb ones good too!
Atmosphere was good, if a bit loud. We got water right away, but we’re not offered drinks then. The server came and we ordered drinks, which took a good 10 minutes. Ordered our food - tacos and soup combo and ceviche for myself. Tacos came right after we got our drinks. My dish, a raw fish dish, did not arrive .. after more than 10 minutes, i asked about it. It took another 8 minutes or so..... The food was tasty. But esp the ceviche’s presentation was poor, as in: nothing. A small glass bowl on a plate. Small portion. Served with a bowl of corn chips. Really sad. Service was ooookay. I felt they were all not very enthusiastic. One looked bored and disinterested how he slapped menus on the table and turned n his heel; very unprofessional. They all seemed very young and not very experienced. Not returning.
Went for lunch had the chicken tacos and soup, and a sangria! Drink was tasty, soup was different and good, chicken taco could have had a bit more flavour but the guacamole was great! Service was great and would for sure return...loved the atmosphere too! Good vibe!
La Reina is a tremendous place to have something delicious and with beers in the bucket and it is situated near Guelph Central station with open space to sit, food and ambience is good. Service is quick and the employees are also quite jovial.
Great menu, amazing tacos and drinks!
