Ok ..first off we had called ahead & booked a party of 12-16, 2 weeks in advance..reconfirmed 3 days prior..all was set & expected. Our server was ill equipped to deal with this table & her other tables..there shld have been a dedicated person or multiple working in stages (drinks, apps, meals) to help her out. it took almost an hr to get drinks.most non alcohol..& after another 25 min 4 of out patry had to leave bc of th wait..The bar mgr Tara was great & helped out quickly. when food came out it was apparent that the kitchen did not stack the table properly so food came out sparatically & orders were wrong. Side of shrip was burnt yet cold. Now with all this the manager Flo..after us asking our server 3 different times to get her..did very graciously comp all but the drinks & gave us gift certificates to use later. She tooks our issues and said she would use them to better the service/food. After what was a very stressed/emotional ride..we left satisfied in how it was settled. Was not our typical experience & we shall see what our next one is like in the future.

My family and I entered and there was nobody at the front counter. So we sat down to wait. A stream of people entered and were waiting before anyone appeared to help. The staff didn't ask who had arrived first. They also told the people who had skipped ahead of us that there were no free booths even though we could see four available booths. Went there tonight and were told there would be a 35 minute wait. There were quite a few waiting at the time so there was no where to sit and wait so we decided to wait anyway. We noticed nobody was being seated and customers were coming in and leaving and not willing to wait. Also noticed there were several empty tables and they were not seating anyone!!After 45 minutes of waiting I asked how much longer and was told they didn’t know for sure as they were backed up in the kitchen!! At this point we left!!! Thanks Montanas for being so up front!! Don’t you think it would have been better customer service to let the people waiting know that there was a problem in the kitchen and that your wait time would be increasing!!!

Loved our meal; however it took 45 minutes for our food to be made. Restaurant wasn't full. Bartenders need more training on how to make drinks, I had to get my drink re- made. She put more ice than slush in my frozen Margaretta... ice should not go in a slushie drink. Service; not so great. She was friendly but must have been new. She took about 10 minutes to make us our drinks only for them to be re made then waited another 15 minutes. When I looked over she was socializing with the bartender with what I could hear a Netflix conversation? When we finally got our meals we had to flag her down for ketchup and vinegar. After we had finished our meals she asked if we enjoyed them. We said yes but if they were bad it was too late to get corrected. Staff need more training. Waitress should have checked on our table more than once. Bartenders shouldn't have taken so long to make our drinks. Cooks it shouldn't take 45 minutes for chicken. Hope my next experience is better. 3+ because the food was good not service.

Been here twice now, first time was horrible... it took forever to even get a waitress to notice we were there, placed our order and waited 45 minutes. Finally got the attention of a waitress, not ours BTW and was told it would only be a few more minutes. 25 minutes passed when we finally had enough and left without our meal, which I am positive was never placed to begin with. Second time we went, after it had be open for awhile thinking it might be better, I was wrong, service was horrible, waitress was like we were bothering her, and once again after an enormous amount of time went by waiting for our food, we once again left and went to the Bonnie Prince where the food and service were amazing. Can't believe I waited so long for a Montana's to finally arrive in Cape Breton, and now I have to give it the worst rating I have ever given to any place we have ever eaten....unbelievable!! I have changed my rating from a 1 to a 2 after speaking with the local manager. She was very helpful and very concerned with our treatment. I will give Montana's another review after our next visit.

Am not usually a fan of Montana's (their small children's portions are offensive). Anyway, we came to this Montana's on a busy Saturday night. We just left the restaurant for the last time. When we went in we asked if they could turn the heat up and they said they would. The women next to us ate in winter jackets. Wish our waitress checked in a little more and that we had of gotten refills on some drinks but honestly that was the only problem. Portiins were insane, food was exceptional , vegie options were filling, and the price although a little steep seemed fair when matched to the over all experience. Their dessert was great though I wish they would cut up their apples a little smaller in the cobler. Over all decpite the wide array of loud country mysic I actually enjoyed myself.
