This spot is located inside Chateau Victoria. The lounge was much more spacious than I thought it would be, with lots of seating. It seems like a popular spot for travelers and locals alike. We started off with cocktails. I ordered Little Tramp off the Tiki Cocktail menu. It came a fun Tiki container with mini umbrella. It was a strong, solid drink. Fun drink for a fun night out! My hubby also ordered from Tiki Cocktail, Jungle Bird. This one didn’t come in a fun container, which was disappointing… I guess not all Tiki drinks are served in the fun cup. This one was strong too, flavorful and more fruity which I liked. For snacks, we wanted some kind of good “bar food” with the drinks, so we went with Clive’s Poutine and House Made Angus Beef Slider to share. I somehow was expecting two or three sliders per order, but then they brought out just one… Well, I should have guessed with the low price tag, and it does say “slider” and not “sliders.” They were both good, tasty and exactly the kind of bar food we wanted. We added cocktail orders, Solitude and Courtyard Fizz. Solitude was a real adult drink, strong and relaxing. Courtyard Fizz was not so great. First of all, the egg white was not whipped well, so it was disappearing by the seconds. The flavor of the drink was not that great either. It didn’t really have any kind of noticeable taste, and it was not strong… Our server was really nice and friendly, she was very informative and took a good care of us. We had a nice evening drinks with good food. One of the drinks was not that great, but we liked the other orders. The poutine was really tasty, a great accompaniment to alcoholic beverages. I am glad we found a nice spot here in Victoria!

The selection of drinks and cocktails is superb, however the last couple times I’ve gone, the waitresses are not attentive. Last time it took 15 minutes to even get a menu. When she brought the menus over we asked to get waters to start and we would be ready to order as soon as she got back. It took her 15 minutes to get water to us, she sat them down and started leaving before we could even try to put in an order of drinks. She passed several times, walking around and I even made eye contact with her several times and tried to flag her down. By the time we finally got an actual drink we had been sitting there for about 40 minutes. It was a bit embarrassing because I was bringing someone from out of town here and I raved about it being so great. The lounge staff used to be better before.

Very cool atmosphere. Our waitress was our guide and helped us to navigate the extensive menu. She asked a few questions, suggested a few cocktails that may suit our tastes, and left the rest to us. Needless to say - fantastic! I love a good drink and Clives was nothing short of amazing! Good place for pre evening cocktails, appy's and cocktails, or an after dinner drink. We had one and vow to come back.

Local Favorite Tiki Cocktail destination. Location: In the lobby of Chateau Victoria, we found a fun cocktail and bar food with faux fireplaces. The lounge creates a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. We were on a cruise, we stopped over in Victoria, Canada for a few hours during our summer vacation. After so much food on the cruise, we searched for a good option for food and cocktails in Victoria. Cocktails: We looked immediately at the Tiki Cocktail menu. We ordered the Little Tramp for $16. All the Tiki drinks can be ordered individually, or for two. It is made with rum, apricot liqueur, scotch, sloe gin, lime juice, and white chocolate syrup. This drink was solid and it came with a fun pink umbrella. We also ordered Jungle Bird for $15. This one is made with rum, campari, pineapple juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. This one was fruity and strong as well. For the Bold & Pure cocktail section, we ordered the Solitude for $14, made with Suntory toki whisky, kirsch cherry liqueur, cinnamon-pear dark balsamic, honey, aloe juice, and cardamom bitters. This was a solid strong drink. We like egg white drinks so we ordered Courtyard Fizz for $14. It is made with taboo absinthe, crème de cacao, lime juice, soda, egg white, and mint. This one was the only miss of all three. Food: For the “bar food”, we ordered Clive’s Poutine, The Classic for $10.25 and a House Made Angus Beef Slider for $3.50. The classic Poutine comes with house-made chicken gravy. They use local cheese curds, and it was tasty. The slider was an okay size but we only shared one. Overall: The location was filled with locals and tourists so it definitely keeps people coming back for more. Thanks for the warm atmosphere on our short stay.

Clives is one of Victoria's best kept secrets for cocktail aficionados! Tucked into a hotel lobby, the bar is my favourite place in town to grab a cocktail and relax, but if you are not looking for it, you would probably walk right by! The cocktail menu is extensive, and classic-cocktail inspired, with a mix of true classics, and original creations by Shawn Soole and Nate Caudle. Clives also boasts the largest whisky listing in town for those interested in trying a flight of something hard to come by. Staff are well versed in the entire cocktail menu and are able to make newcomers feel welcome and guide them through the cocktail list. The cocktail list itself changes seasonally, featuring things like classic tiki drinks during summer, and a full lineup of flips and toddies during the winter. Clives also runs a barrel aging program, and has a regular rotation of barrel-aged classics such as Toronto cocktails or Negronis. My own tastes lean towards the more spirit-forward cocktails, but they also do an excellent job of classic fizzes and sours -- always with an eye to a balanced cocktail. If you are visiting Victoria for the first time, make sure you go to Clives early in your trip -- you will want to go back!

I have only been to Clive’s once, but I will for sure be back. I went specifically for their Tiki cocktails and was not disappointed. Myself and two friends ordered the Good Luck Potion #2 and Voodoo Queen, both of which are Tiki Bowls for 2, as well as the Nail in the Coffin. The atmosphere is welcoming and laid back. The staff is charming and charismatic. The drinks are creative and delicious. We even received complimentary Fresh-Cooked Potato Chips!

An absolute must if you are a cocktail enthusiast. This place is the best cocktail bar in Victoria. It's also home of the campari competition each year. The cocktail list is always changing. The food is sooo good. If they still have them when you are reading this get the grilled cheese sticks with housemade ketchup. Their veggie burger is unreal! The atmosphere is very swanky and reminds me of a set of a mobster film. I love this place. Finish the night with a Fernet. Cheers!

Cocktails are mostly good and the waiters/waitresses very competent and friendly. They also have one or two good bartenders, so I’ll give them that. I will say something that I think deserves some attention regardless: especially if you’re a woman, don’t be fooled by the friendly charming head bartender of this fancy place. Being a bartender can come with some “fame” and “game”, but I’ve heard about and experienced a couple of incidences, and he’s very covert about it, but caution: predator detected.

I went on a Friday evening and there were a couple seats left for us. It gets noisy for a few hours but dies down afterwards. Nice classy place but not pretentious!

This place isn't what I expected at all. The vibes are off. If you're looking for a nice, modern, cozy cocktail lounge go else where. If you're going to charge $18 a drink the decor shouldn't look like it's from 2002. The server brought some popcorn for the table, which tasted like they'd dusted every flavour imaginable over it. Imagine all the flavours of chips all at once. The popcorn was so terrible that we just left.

The worst food I have had in a long long time. Started the meal with a complimentary bowl of stale popcorn from the server. Had the wild boar Pogo, had one bite and spat it out the meat was so gross. Had the burgers of the day, there was nothing on them but mayo lettuce and tomato they were so bland. Also had the arancini and they were terrible, it tasted like they were cooked the day before. The only saving grace was the tuna tataki, that was delicious. I am not a picky person, but I would never come here again. Or send anyone i wanted to keep in my life here. You know it's bad when the server apologizes for all the food rather than ask you how it was.

Hands down the best bar experience I have ever had. Last night we sat at the bar where the two bartenders were super friendly, professional and fun to talk to. You could tell they genuinely enjoyed their jobs and took pride in their drink making. The drinks are amazing even though they are a little on the pricier side, but well worth it. They give you complimentary popcorn which is very tasty as well.

The most tragic dining experience. Food was cooked perfectly - but the chef had no idea about creating flavor. The "BBQ" point bahn mi was just sugar slathered... Pure maple syrup would have been less sweet - no acid balance. The albacore tuna putine was a waste of good fish. What were they thinking ... "let's hide the beautifully prepared tuna in cheese and fries" - congratulations it was a can of cream soup away from tuna casserole. Chicken wings - well cooked and glazed in sugary blah. Service was great. Drinks were lovely. Ambience was created by old tourist treating themselves to one fancy holiday drink - boring.

The service was great! If you like unique cocktails it is the place to go. When it's not super busy you can ask the server if the bartender will make you a unique drink. You just tell them what you are feeling. For example spicy, ginger and citrus. Then they make you a drink off them menu and give you the recipie. It was fantastic!

Clive's Classic Lounge for the win! After a disappointing start to our night with a botched reservation and rude staff at Little Jumbo we arrived at Clive's. W were accomodated last minute, and had a lovely time with our server Larry, she seriously is the best! Cocktails were all delicious, and the theater of the smoky whiskey one was outstanding. If you like Shafts then give their Sam U L Jackson a shot, it will be the best one you ever try!

To be honest I was so excited to come by because I love speakeasy vibes and good cocktails. The cocktails were good. I ordered the veggie burger and asked if it is vegan, the server said it most likely is but if it’s not she will let me know. After 35-40 minutes, I was told the burger bun has egg in it. My boyfriend got his meal first and after 10 minutes I received my “burger” on some dry lettuce. My boyfriends burger and fries were cold, so I’m sure they left it out, my burger was also cold when I received it. I’m not sure why his meal came 10 minutes before mine, we came to eat together… Our server never came by to ask us how our meals were. She apologized at the end and blamed the kitchen being short staffed but I don’t see how not knowing the menu is a kitchen issue. I did get my meal compensated which was nice, but a little expected considering.. The music was good, cocktails and lounge vibes are great, but that’s about it.
