Remember the old bars with red terry coth table covering. This is 1 step above Music on weekends, lots of parking. Beer and wine store attached. Bar a bit dark and very quiet during day time hours. Sit up bar is small.

I was always look at Mex Pub from the Superstore parking lot. It seems a bit mysterious and dangerous, like a woman in a smokey room with dim lights wearing fishnets. I have to admit, I've never been inside, but it is on the top of my list of things to do in Courtenay. Last time I was in the Superstore parking lot I was walking a dog, Tucky, around to sniff at different bushes and look at parked cars. Strangely the thing he was MOST interested in, was this stack of fencing laid on its side; the stuff that you usually surround an area under construction. The metal was super bright in the sun, with no shade around, no dividers with plants, but it must have smelled good, because it was all Tucky wanted to look at.

Walked there apparently it's closed Sunday Monday Tuesday. On the website says open seven days a week so walk there for nothing. Not impressed

Very nice lady working, funny and charming, with some details on the pub which was interesting, only popped in for drinks but service was good! Neat cowboy atmosphere, very retro!

Super dingy. Ordered a beer. Never got it. Ordered halepeno poppers filled with sour cream, instead got some other pepper thats red and filled with cheese that had the consistency of spray cheese. I was like oh well, it still tastes good and decided not to return it. But then about a minute later i went back for another bite only to pull up a piece of hair from with in. That was the last straw. So i took it to the bar because hailing down the waitress was out of the question as she was too busy sitting down on her phone. Wont be coming back. At least the music is good.

Mex is one of those places that is a lot better with the lights off i would imagine. Went for a beer the other night and didn't have a bad experience but not a memorable one either. They could use about ten more bar seats on top of the 6 already to make it comfortabke to hang out.

Called asking about how I would be able to check if they had a liquor on the attached liquor store. They told me to call them, and after explaining that I got their number from googling "Mex liquor store", they hung up instead of help, not even saying goodbye.

This bar is pretty lame.???? There is always nasty bar fights here and the bouncers just sit there and watch it happen. The staff all seem stuck up and annoyed.

As far as pubs go, the Mex is one of my favorites. The food is good and the atmosphere mellow. There's an older crowd and doesn't feel at all like a "meat market" They showcase local music talent on a regular basis as well.

Great pub where the locals hang out. We used to have rap shows here about 15 years ago. Getting more popular for DJ shows too. Cover price is usually low.
