Had not dined at the Griffin for 10 years. Was visiting in the area and stopped for lunch. So glad some things never change! Fantastic Ciabbatta chicken burger and a very fresh, crisp and tasty salad! Super!

My boyfriend and I have been here twice and our service was not good at all. The blond waitress (who I'm guessing is the regular since she was the only one there on both occasions) ignored us seemingly intentionally to serve other patrons. It took us about 45 minutes to get refills on waters, and about 30 to get our checks when our plates were finished. I'm sure the other waitresses are fine and the poutine is really great.

This is the second time wehave landed at the Griffin because we could not find a open restaurant and I again was glad of it. The food, service and ambiance is outstanding. My only challenge is the washrooms i am mobility challenged and the bathroom doors are spring loaded not a great combination. However i would highly recommend this pub for lunch or dinner

Recommended by a friend we entered the pub after a regular Doug, who shuffled in slowly. The pub staff all greated him by name as he picked a seat. We had a fantastic waitress who told us the history of the pub including the story of how the owners home was thought to be haunted before it burnt down. Amanda told us about the hours for the pub it’s age and spoke about it's decor and how they usually have live bands till 1:00am on Saturday. My husband ate a clubhouse and I had the ceaser wrap so fresh and tasty. I would definitely come back!

Amazing food! Huge portions, we had seafood chowder it was delicious, huge bowls. We ordered fish and chips as well which was so good but again huge portions. All that was enough for 3 meals for 2! Tried the Beet Cesar it was very yummy!

Had takeout fish and chips and chicken fingers and fries as well as a large salad. I didn't think it was possible to mess up the most basic of pub foods but this place managed to. The food looked and tasted like it was from the previous day - completely cold, stale, and topped off with rotten smelling coleslaw. Possibly the worst meal I have ever bought - maybe they do better with their in house meals but I would be pretty reluctant to give them a second chance based on this experience.

One of my Dad's favourite spots. We came here in his honour on January 10th, the food was good as usual and the service was excellent. Returned on February 1st, the eve before his Celebration of Life, once again, great pub food, however I would guess there wasn't any kind of owner or Supervisor around. It wasn't very busy at all and there were numerous uncleared tables and the service was slow and neglectful at best. We had to go up to the bar to request that they clear our dinner dishes and ask for a dessert menu and more drinks. Disappointing.

I've been here twice and both times have been great. The servers we had each time were friendly and the food we have ordered has been tasty. One time we went there was a group of men playing darts that were being quite rude to the server but she seemed to respond professionally which is always good to see.

It's a pub! Come here with groups to play WINGO, music trivia, darts or enjoy some of their other events. They do have a billiards table if you're so inclined. Keep your order simple - poutine is always a hit!

It was well after 9 O'clock on a Sunday evening when we decided spontaneously to go out for a bite to eat and only really ended up at the Griffin Pub because the rest of Comox was closed! Being more accustomed to the big city, that was a bit of a shock to me. Anyway, the fare was good and service was excellent -quick and friendly. We'd both go back again!

Friend of mine smoked so we sat outside in the glorious sunshine under a big umbrella. Cuppl'a pints and the Tuesday special each. Kibitzing with the server about driving home got me "cut off". First time ever I've been refused service. This about 5:30 PM in the afternoon.

Stopped in for lunch and the only good thing in the review is that the food was decent. The blonde server on the other hand was one of the worse servers I have ever had. My boyfriend asked what beers were on tap once he said what he wanted she walked away not even asking me until she was at the end of the bar then yelled at me and asked what I wanted. When she came back with the drinks I had some questions in regards to ingredients as I am allergic to peppers she got annoyed and didn’t not in anyway answer my questions and walked away while I was still inquiring. Her lack of knowledge was amazing. She was rude and offensive. Needless to say will never go back or recommend to any of my friends.

Just had hot wings - really high quality wings, they're buying the best. I just ate high quality wings ! Lovely patio seating, smoking section, non-smoking section, these folks are catering to their clients with the best of everything. If you're lucky you'll even get to see planes overhead as they land. I have been here many times and loved the food. Went there last night. I had halibut and chips. The halibut was awesome. The fries were cold and tasted like they already had vinegar on them. Makes me think they gave me leftover fries off someone else's plate. Not one to complain in person as I've worked in restaurants and seen what happens to peoples food that complain. Lol. Dont think I'll be going back after that. Very disappointed

It's an odd place. Spec-TACULAR ambience. Legitimately stunning inside. Filled with memorabilia, collections of odds and ends, and dripping with character. Also has some damn good schnitzel. Don't just go here to get drunk and eat, though. They've also got pool, various bar games, and some days they even do live entertainment! Ranging from bar trivia to actual bands, it's a great time all around. First true bar I've been to. It was fantastic.

I love the food and atmosphere at the Griffen. If you like song and dance and friends then this is the place to go. I have recently proposed to my fiance there, they took pictures and made it really special for us. They have a beautiful patio, open mic nights, outdoor heaters and beautiful wooden round-tables out back.

For the first time ever, I was extremely disappointed at one of my favourite pubs. Not sure if waitress was new, I had never seen her before, but our order was wrong (there were only 4 of us, simple orders, the pub was not busy), drinks were forgotten, I had to ask to take my leftovers home, normally they ask you as they are clearing the table, my doggie bag was never brought to me and i got so busy chatting i forgot, the pub no longer has Strongbow (?!?!?), and at 8:30 pm there was no more deep fried ice-cream. Really hoping things will be different next time.

Had the special tonight, Prime Rib. Was the worst Prime Rib I have ever been served. A quarter inch piece of meat disguised as Prime Rib was camouflaged with gravy and an under done Yorkshire Pudding. Asked for medium Prime Rib and was served very overdone. Couldn't eat it after tasting it. Had food there before and was quite good; this was unacceptable. After complaining was still charged after being told by the server they could feed it to their dog. My wife's Clam Chowder was the consistency of dishwater with a few 'floaties' ; tasted like it too. Would have been nice to have at least one decent meal out of the two. Bad chef day???

Been there twice only because we were checking out the live bands. The first time, ordered nachos which were disgusting.....plastic cheese. Our waitress (who claimed she was going in for a nurse) went from low key and polite to completely hammered...or high in a couple of hours. The liquor inspector would have had a ball with that place. The next time we went there the place was virtually empty and after getting our first drink from Nurse Wasted, she totally ignored us for the next hour. Won't be back.

I would give a full 5 stars if the Griffin would stop allowing smoking on their beautiful patio. Truly one of the nicest in the valley, but the cigarette smoke is just an absolute stain on an outdoor dining experience. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. The food was perfectly pub quality, the beers were refreshing but we couldn’t linger or relax due to the constant streams of smoke. Now that I know, I won’t be back.

As a local resident who has frequented the Griffin on numerous occasions, I was embarrassed and upset by an incident that happened today at the pub. I had 7 international visitors with me and it was a spontaneous decision to drop in for drinks and appies after a visit to the beach. Despite the fact that all my guests were of legal age, one did not have I.D. Instead of politely explaining the licence laws, empathizing with a smile and suggesting we return another day, the waitress immediately gathered up the menus and told us we must leave because she could be fined. Her attitude was so rude that several of my guests said that they had never experienced anything like it during their time in Canada. Had we argued or been difficult, I would understand her unpleasantness towards us. Besides asking if we could order our friend a soft drink instead of alcohol, we did not give her any possible reason for the treatment we received. Griffin Management, please educate your staff on how to pleasantly and diplomatically handle this type of situation. These people bring a lot of money to our province and deserve respect - not humiliation. As a Canadian, I was truly mortified.

This is a wonderful out of the way pub. It has many wonderful things on the menu of which many of the items are made fresh in house. It has an absolutely beautiful patio out back which is wonderful with its flowers, plants, hanging baskets and hummingbirds. We had a great lunch with excellent food and friendly efficient service. Unfortunately it took a downturn at the end when a number of tables were filled with smokers. We would love to return for more but will avoid the patio due to the allowance of smoking, which is a real shame. Hopefully they will change their smoking policy for the patio in the future so we're can return for more great experiences.

Great food near the ferry terminal. Had the prime rib and was not disappointed. Huge slice of tender melt in your mouth meat, mashed potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding plus veggies. Friends had burgers and thoroughly enjoyed them.

A bad experiance all around. A server that clearly did not want to be there. As far as the food...I didn't eat it. It was not prepared properly and was told " thats how it was suppose to be " when I asked for it to be corrected. A shame really, as it was my favorite place to get this specific item. Sorry, but the mile high pile of uncooked cold cheese on the top is NOT how it is served. And it should have been as simple as " yes I can have them put it in the oven a little longer." Like I had respectfully asked immediately when you plunked it on our table.

Got the seafood fettuccine ($25) and seafood chowder ($15) for takeout. I've had better for the price. Tasted mostly off the shelf/frozen aisle. Food came out quickly ~10 minutes.
