We waited a really long time for the food and it wasn't so great. My friend got the seafood pasta and it came with muscles that appeared desiccated. I ordered some fish tacos and they were underwhelming.

Good pub food, big platters of fried foods, good prices on beer and cocktails. Nice pub vibe, and it may be a neighbourhood place because the servers and clients are all very friendly. I was there during a pub quiz night and it was interactive and fun even though we were not participants. I have popped in to listen to live bands too. If you need a good pub outing this is the place to be. Very close to the hotels as well, walking distances to at least 5 hotels..

ordered food from them and all I can say is I'm disappointed. The poutine was 18$ I figured for this outragous price it would be the biggest best poutine I ever had but costcos 4$ poutine is still above and beyond. The chicken tasted like it was way over seared and burned. If your going to make your food a ridiculous price at least make it good. The beef dip was only filled 1/4 way and the cheese tasted old. This was the first and last time I'll ever order from the flying canoe. Also 17$ for a salad? Terrible food.

Went there with the family for supper and it was awesome!!!! I have to say I thought it would be expensive but the prices were really reasonable. The food I have to say was absolutely delicious!!!!!!! What I also liked about the food was that for the price the serving size was plentiful, you are for sure receiving quality food at affordable pricing and you are leaving there very full and satisfied. We will for sure be repeat customers, keep up the great job and delicious food!!!!!!!!

After waiting 45min for a pizza with only 4 customers in there, the staff decided to give me a very bad attitude for making me wait. They literally dropped my food on the table and walked away. This was after asking multiple times for my dinner order was placed, which they lied to me about, and that my order had been started and it wasn’t. I saw her give him my ticket after I asked. The attitude was uncalled for and I highly recommend avoiding this place unless you want bad attitude and horrible service. There are much better options out there.

The service was really good but the food sucked. I had to send my meal back. The ribs are advertised as fall off the bone and I couldn't cut through them with a steak knife. I didn't want to try them again they were that bad so I just had the chicken wings and they were just ok.

I have always had a good time here. Their patio is great and heated year round. It does seem to get a younger crowd later on weekend nights but I would recommend for all ages.

The first time we went, they had an excellent steak, and we were particularly impressed. We've been 4 times since and each time the quality has deteriorated and the prices have increased. This time will be the last time; their menu has removed some of the best items, for example the steak, the steak sandwich, and the Yorkshire pudding. Confronted by the change in menu, we ordered some pizzas, fish and chips, and the seafood soup. The pizzas were distinctly average, the fish and chips were overpriced (if you want fish and chips; Joe Klassen's has some for a cheaper price and with unlimited fish), and to top it off, the seafood soup was burnt. Suffice to say, this time will be our last.

We stopped in for lunch and had the nachos and chicken sandwich. The nachos were huge and had a couple of solid layers of cheese and ingredients which is the right way to make nachos. The chicken sandwich was a little plain but the chicken was cooked to perfection. Overall quiet good and would recommend to anyone looking for quality pub food.

Cozy booths for date night, or big booths for large groups. Convenient location, especially if you are staying at the Westerly or the Old House.

Bar food and not for us, wings are coated in cornmeal before being deep fried, so didn’t eat them due to our dietary restrictions, came with nacho chips, not listed on menu as part if the dish, had to remove from plate and couldn’t eat these plate fillers either. Advised of egg allergy and brought dressing which contains eggs to dip wings we could t eat in. Some may enjoy, but not us.

Long wait, and eventually my fish and chips arrived undercooked, with soggy batter dripping in oil. Very disappointed. But! To their credit, they apologised and reimbursed me and brought up a replacement meal very quickly.

Went here for a work get together. It is a nice atmosphere with a good décor and different seating options. Children are allowed in the top section of the restaurant. There was live music when I went on Friday which was lovely surprise. The wings are delicious and meaty, there is a special on them daily from 3 pm to 5 pm if you order a drink. The nachos are also good but I would ask for more salsa because it doesn't come with enough. Calamari was lemony ???? which was a pleasant surprise; I would also suggest ordering more tzatziki with this because it only comes with one itty bitty cup. Lastly the four cheese spinach dip was warm and comforting. The staff here are quite friendly and eager to help. If you're in the neighborhood you should check them out.

Stayed in Courtenay for the night and wanted to find a pub close to the hotel to watch the game. Lots of TVs and great service. The wings were also really good. I had the sweet chili wings. Nicely breaded and not overly small. Good beer selection as well. Not a fancy place, but very much a sports pub. Would go back for sure.

The service wasn’t very great the last time I was here. Very slow, took forever for initial drink order to be taken. It was a busy evening, but there were plenty of servers on the floor. Ordered a pizza, took over half an hour to receive a warm Margherita pizza with a soggy centre (sitting on the pass too long?). Server only came back to check on us shortly after receiving food, not once asking if we’d like a refill of our empty beer glasses. We were seated right by the server station as well, so plenty of opportunity to notice empty beers.

Looking for a loud and lively dive bar? This ain't it... The Flying Canoe offers beers from several different craft breweries, and has absolutely the best happy hour prices in town. This is our go to spot for deals on good drinks! They're also a proud supporter of local sport and social clubs such as slow pitch and volleyball. The staff is friendly and kind, and don't mind chatting with you at the bar. The service is quick and accurate. The burgers and fries are great! But the pizza is absolutely fantastic. The Canoe has several special nights, including karaoke, jam night, and trivia. But don't expect a huge crowd here... Which is exactly what some people are looking for!

I ordered chicken strips, I took one bite and the middle of the chicken strip was completely raw. I asked the waitress if I could get a new plate of chicken strips, and she asked if they could just re fry the ones I had… I said no. I asked for new ones. Anyway they didn’t give me any money off… I was still charged the full price. I didn’t fight it or ask for a free meal, just thought that was common knowledge. Oh well. Pretty disappointed.

My husband and I went here for dinner and I would give the pub a 5 star review for our food and for our waiter, but the low rating is for the ONE table of 9-10 older gentleman when there is a Maximum limit of 6! We are in a pandemic! I appreciate the manager coming over to talk to my husband and I to let us know that this is a special circumstance because they only come once a year...but this is NOT an excuse. Especially when things are so bad right now. The group of men were apparently supposed to have the patio booked for only them...but my question is why can you bend the rules for these guys... The one man stated that they are in the same bubble yet when the waitress left he was introducing one of them to the group. In my opinion this is a complete joke... My husband and I quickly finished our meal and left your establishment. This is not ok.

When ever I happen to Comox, I always overnight at the BW and have dinner here. The BW usually gives me a 7 dollar voucher for dinner and I use it for a beer. The happy hour wing special is nice and the food is decent. The only area they sometimes fall down is in the service as its a bit spotty and slow But they try hard. It's a friendly place and quiet which I like. Can't beat it for business travel meals at the hotel.

My friends and I went for their cheap Saturday evening $6.95 menu. Was pleasantly surprised! I had the beef tacos and lemon pepper chicken wings. Tacos were 2 large over filled tacos and was delicious. The wings I expected to be a small portion but was a full size portion, but the flavor of the lemon pepper wasn't much. My friend had dill pickle wings and was even less flavor. Other than kinda bland wings, the portions and other food we had was fantastic!

Foodwise, it was decent. However, I would not recommend the ribs, they were VERY cold. The rib under the one top was still frozen. They were also very dry. It wasn't enjoyable in the slightest. The fries that came with it on the other hand, was quite good. The seafood pasta consisted of mussels, salmon and prawns in a white sauce. It was quite good, very hot and filling. However, the salmon was so dry, I was doing my best to avoid it in my dish. It was very overcooked and not as enjoyable as the rest of the dish. I would recommend something else, or order it without the salmon. I would not recommend the Manhattan whiskey sour - it definitely could've been better in my personal opinion. It was extremely extremely sour, perhaps due to too much citrus concentrate? I do believe it could have been toned down in that department, but if you like biting down lemons and limes, this might be a drink for you. Or perhaps ordering a double instead? Didn't experiment with this too much as I was diluting it with water. For appetizers, we had wings and the calamari and I do not have any complaints. If anything, the calamari was chewy but not in a bothersome way. The waiter was nice and did his job well. No complaints; I enjoyed his service.

Steak sandwich deal for 7.99 was a good choice but I can't speak for the rest of the menu. You can find nicer places with innovative menu's in the area but this place seems to do the pub thing pretty well. Great music, huge screen to watch football and the service was excellent... Mind you I was 1 of 3 customers in the joint.

The wings are tiny, of low quality and expensive. The service I had was poor. There was no non-alcoholic beer option and our server did not routinely check on the table, so we did not receive refills for water or the opportunity to order more drinks. great location though.

Order were suppose to be ready for 1200pm and did not start to come out until 1220. When I received my order - Club with no guacamole or tomorrow with regular fries, I go a club with all and yam fries. When i told the server my was wrong, she looked at me and said you must have gotten someone else's rudely and walked away without taking my plate. I then had to tell the manager who took my plate and returned 3 minutes later with the same chicken from the previous sandwich thrown on new dry bread without any bacon and still a piece of tomato and the leftovers of the guacamole they tried to scrap off. When told them for there was no bacon, they rudely began to take my plate. I then intervened and asked for them to just bring the bacon and I would put it on myself. WHen i finally tried to eat it the chicken was very dry and tasted old. One bite was more than enough. Horrible service and horrible food. Was disgusted when i got the bill for $20 and no offer to amend my bill as i didn't eat anything. Never will go back and neither with my work.

I visited this establishment twice while visiting Courtenay. Why? Because my first experience was wonderful and thought my second would be the same. How wrong I was. My first experience occurred on Easter Friday, when there weren't many people in the building. The lone server I talked to was friendly and pleasant, explaining all the daily specials including her favourites. Because it was a sunny day I asked if I could sit on the patio and she said it was OK (even though she might have to walk further to provide service). My second visit on Easter Monday (I have put in dates hoping the pub managers take note) was a disaster. Once again there was a single server, but not the one I encountered the first time. She was rude from the start. She couldn't explain the daily specials and seemed indifferent when asked about food offerings. She then tried to overcharge me for a Happy Hour beverage. Also, double check the chalkboard for specials before ordering (based on my exchange with server #2) it may be out of date. In summary, the server you have may determine your experience here.

Cool looking pub that we were excited to try. We sat on the patio and after ten miniutes with no service, we moved inside and experienced the same lack of attention. We finally just got up and left. The pub wasn't busy, so I'm unclear why the service was so terrible.

The bartender/server (Dec 6 late afternoon) was so friendly and awesome. There seemed to be several regular old timers in this pub and it was nice to see how well everyone was treated by this server. Also, the beef dip and fresh hot fries were excellent!!!

Only stopped there for a nightcap and a snack. Atmosphere was o.k. but barely anyone in there that night. Great homemade dill chips with jalapeno peppers.

Had an excellent burger - cooked the way I requested. Condiments brought to the table so that I could use what I wanted. Portion if fries was a little disappointing. Service was quick and efficient.
