Myself and 3 other people came to eat at Fluid on BC day- It was quite busy because it was quite literally the only restaurant open at the time! So, service was a little slow. I have to say though, the servers where very calm and collected, and where very attentive to my dietary restrictions which was incredibly appreciated considering how busy it was! The food was amazing, everyone at my table was very happy with their meals. A lot of times when restaurants get that busy the quality of the food and quality of service suffers- but that wasn't the case here at all. Awesome job, we will definitely return next time we're in town!

When we came into the restaurant no one was wearing masks and staff were congregating all together. When my wife asked why none of the staff were wearing masks, the hostess looked at my wife bewildered as if she was crazystating that they don't need to with a very facetious tone...saying they have a system in place to minimize the amount of touch points...due to our comfort level we never ate here but if staff attitude was part of the experience, we are glad we didn't stay.

I came in Saturday night towards the end of the night to buy some food and drinks with my friends I normally love the food and am super happy with the service. Tonight however has changed all of my friends and my opinions because one of your waitresses attitude. I was with four of my friends all about the same age, she ID me and none of my other friends at the table when ordering drinks, I’m a bartender at a local bar and I know that this is not only discrimination but against B.C’s liquor laws. When I had asked her why she only asked for my ID she rolled her eyes and didn’t give me an answer. She then went behind the bar proceeded to stare and point at me while she was talking to her co workers. When she comes back to the tabel she brings me not only the Bellini that I had ordered but a glass of water I had not asked for. She did this in a way to make me feel as though I had been drinking when this Bellini was my first drink of the night! My four friends and I were going to order dinner and drinks but, not only was I absolutely stunned by her attitude but my friends aswell saw this and we decided to cancel our order and leave. Very disappointed in the customer services provided. The waitress had long dark hair and super long eyelash extensions, severely disappointed in the service.

The food here is really good. I've been here twice and the quality is constant as is the service. The servers were friendly and helpful suggesting food and drinks. The ribs are excellent, tuna is great, great desserts as well.

When a group of completely belligerent drunk idiots came in and sat down the bar continued to serve them. When they started harassing the table next to them we asked the group to be respectful and take it down a notch at which point they began harassing us. We basically had to leave to avoid a fight. Totally negligent and and unprofessional on the staffs part, they were well aware and should have asked their patrons to leave.

Scrumptious! With a full dining room, the kitchen staff are very good at honoring special requests from allergies to preferences, all without sacrifice to quality. Food and drinks are consistent with every visit. Atmosphere is just right and not overbearingly sleazy like cactus club. Service is sincere and the front staff have a solid knowledge of the menu and the kitchens capabilities or limitations. In fact I'm booking another reservation for this weekend, right now. See you there!

The service was friendly and efficient, the only reason I gave this review any stars at all. The food quality was not very good. My chicken wings were breaded and very soggy. Instead of blue cheese dip they gave me ceasar salad dressing. I was only able to choke down a few wings. My friends fish and chips were hard from overcooking.

Absolutely terrible food. We had the pulled pork tacos and the BBQ chicken wrap. It was so greasy and flavorless I couldn't even eat it. The service was good and the beer was cold which was amazing. Good place to come if you're just having drinks with friends, but not for a meal... If you have any taste buds, don't come here.

The ceasar salad was very good but in all honesty I think there trying to pass off tilapia as Cod. I know fish and that definitely wasn't Cod. You can tell by the texture and flavors definitely not Cod. Wasn't impressed with that part of my dinner.

Hi! I took my friend on Feb 15 2020 for dinner for her birthday. Ordered falafel lettuce wraps. Had to send it back, falafel's were burned on the outside and uncooked inside. Service was okay. Bar section was very loud with lots of F words flying around. Future visit?? No.

Fluids is a staple. My bestie and I always go their for special occasions. Our favourite things are the drinks! Really good Martinis and Bellini‘s! Also love the baked Brie, spinach and asiago dip, lettuce wrap, and fluid Reuben sandwich! Best causal restaurant in Courtenay.

I hate that I have to give this a 1 because I love their food but TERRIBLE SERVICE. Honestly my experience this weekend almost ruined my staff Christmas party. I had arranged a very large food order for a Sunday late evening. I phoned Saturday and everything was still a go, and Skip would deliver. I phoned again at 4pm on Sunday and said “hey I have a large order, I’d like to place it now so you have time to arrange it. I’m not too concerned about timing, I just need it at 7pm or later”. I was told “We don’t take early orders. Call back 35-45 minutes in advance.” So I called back at 6:45 and was told NO TAKE OUT. I was livid. This was over $650 plus tip for my food order. To be told all weekend “yep, yep, yep” and then cancel on me when I have hungry staff members late on a Sunday evening is ridiculous. I was stuck scrambling trying to get food when I could have been told “No” days or even hours in advance.

Ate here around 10+ years ago. Was really good, but didn't go back until last night. Not sure why we waited so long to return! Burger was fantastic, and the fries were among the best fries I have ever had in my life. After we placed our drink order, it seemed like quite the wait to place our food order - but the food came very quickly once ordered so that largely made up for the order wait. Highly recommended. I certainly won't be waiting another 10 years to return!

We tried Fluid again after a six year gap, pleasantly surprised at how awesome all our meals were. Large portions, great taste! Only reason for not giving them a five star is the noise level! Way too loud, hard to hear across the table to have a conversation.

The food was REALLY bland and mediocre. I had the bruschetta with focaccia bread and the soup that they said was vegetable ministrone, but it was some sort of curry with dead chicken in it. I wasn't offended by the dead animal, but the food was just SO blah. I might as well as buy a loaf of Wonderbread and cut up some tomatoes, it would have tasted the same. You would be better off just going across the street to the chinese food place, called Bamboo something. Avoid Fluid at all costs.

What a difference 6 months can make...we have been here before at Christmas and had an amazing experience with the staff, the service and the food. I don't know if it's because of covid or maybe some staff changes but we did not have the same welcoming. The hostess must have been having a bad day, she didn't even smile once! Our server was efficient and was a little more pleasant than the hostess. The food was good for some in our group and just ok for others.

It's a solid 3 star experience. It's typical bar food, with decent and quick service. The atmosphere is trying too hard however. it's dark and dingy inside, with loud music. The waiters dress in fancy dresses, but it feels out of place to the quality of the food and atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating, a mistake was made with the 'doneness' of a steak, but they resolved it quickly and satisfactorily.

It's a bar, though, so if you're going late at night, or during a hockey game, you get a fair number of beer-swilling, truck-driving good old boys. So if you're into that, great, go then. Quick service, it was kind of empty at the time we went as it was late, yet super loud just with the employees. They were very loud among themselves, "chatting" loudly with each other while there was customer by the bar where they were , going in and out some sort of patio maybe and still talking loud with each other even from a distance. Food was good, nothing very impressive though but to me it was a lot of food (mostly with pieces of ginger and lots of veggies with just a bit of rice and chicken), so unfortunately I had to leave part of it there. Glad it was one of the fewer restaurants open at that time, just could be a lot better if it was a bit more "peaceful", less loud ;)

Fluid is an awesome place to eat, drink, and hang out. The drinks are a little pricey but delicious and the choices plentiful. The appies are as big as dinners and so good. My friends and I often order all appies and drinks and stay for hours. The only minus, is that because everyone is having a great time, it's often very loud!! ????

Went here for dinner twice over the weekend. Really impressed by the food quality and taste. The Dynamite Sticks from the appetizers menu were amazing. So much so that I had them on both visits. Great Santa Fe Chicken salad as well. Decent tap selection with daily specials on drinks. Will definitely return!

Well over all I have to say not very good at all in the service department. Atmosphere was relaxing, the food was more tasty on the second visit. If fact I'd say it was down right good. On he first visit, had salad that was bland. Waiter threw out my meal instead of packing it to eat later as he was asked. He also forgot our drink order, and seamed to prefer to hang out at the end of the bar than serve his guests. Second visit was bare bones basic by somebody who obviously had no sense of professional service. No follow up service or topping off of my drink, slow on taking the order. Now I'm gonna try to flag her down to get the bill. Wish me luck

I wasn't impressed with the fact that they refused to split my pizza half and half between two flavours but the rest of my experience made up for it. The carnivore pizza with its smoky bacon, delicious marinara, and heavenly bourbon BBQ sauce was perfect. My date's chicken Alfredo pasta was also bomb AF as were our habanero wings. Cole was an absolute darling; attentive, quick, and in tune with our energy. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes good eats.

Checked out Fluid while staying at the Kingfisher Resort. Most restaurants were closed on Monday's so we we were pleased to find Fluid open. Food and service were very good. I had the Kung Pow stir fry with flat iron steak. Steak was very tender, cooked as requested medium rare and had great flavor. My wife had the oven baked bolognese. Great flavor with a nice amount of spice from the chorizo sausage. We had the local hazy IPA and a glass of house red. Both were very good, but the wine I thought was a touch expensive. I'd have no problem returning if we are in Courtenay again. The menu was varied and the service excellent.

Pros: quick service, friendly staff; cons: limited tap selection, overly expensive for what amounts to an average and uninspiring pub menu with parsley garnishing everything. I don’t like leaving bad reviews and I think the staff treated us well but I was truly confused as to how this place had so many positive reviews based on our overall experience. If the menu was around half the price or the food was twice as good it would make more sense. The next day during our trip we ate significantly better food for half the cost at a local hole in the wall in Port Hardy. Covid-19 limited our options in the Courtenay/Comox area but I still wish we would have found another place open that better represents what Courtenay/Comox has to offer. Locals was full; maybe next time.

Fluid is a good place to go if you can’t pick what you want to eat. The selection/variety of food is pretty good and they have good drink specials that change everyday. It is slightly over priced on certain items, but fair for others. If someone suggests to go to Fluid, I am usually down to go. Service is pretty good.

What a lovely establishment to have had the pleasure of eating at! This was our very first visit to Fluid Bar & Grill and we really can't say enough good things about it. Our server Izik was very friendly and social. His wine recommendation was spot on. The food was absolutely to die for! We had a plate of dry ribs as an appetizer (the best ribs we've had in the Valley yet!), the tower of nachos and a lettuce wrapped burger..seriously, the stack of nachos were soooo tower-ful that four people could easily share the one plate. Not kidding ???? Plenty of gluten free options on the menu, and easily adaptable menu items for ketogenic lifestyles as well. I was just sorry we couldn't stay longer to enjoy a few more drinks, the good company, and great restaurant!! We will be back Fluid, you can count on it! ????????

Stopped in for supper. Ordered the 8 oz steak dinner and it was perfectly cooked medium rare (which seems to be difficult for a lot of restaurants to do). Also the demi glaze was delicious. They also had a nice but small draught beer selection, including a couple of a local craft brewery's product. It was a bit noisy but that just tells me that people are enjoying the establishment. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. Will definitely have to go there again.

Started off with the calamari & crab dip. Crab dip was nice.. full of chunks of seafood. Chips were fresh. Didn't try the bread as it was just dry. The calamari was a HUGE let down. For $14.. even if it were $5, I expect calamari when I order calamari. I think we got 8-10 pcs. The rest of the plate was red onions (I'm not hating on them), couple red peppers, handful of jalapeños (yum), and a ton of little batter balls. Like half the plate! I didn't pay $14 for dough. And the little bit on calamari we did get was a joke. Smaller around than my pinky nail and thin thin. So of course it was way over cooked. And it seemed like they battered it, deep fried, then battered & deep fried again. Ok, I'll move on from the appies. Had the Caesar wrap & over done fries and a Spanish burger w/ soup for $19. Didn't eat half the burger as it was over done with charcoal edges. Chowder was flavourful but not sure why they called it creamy as it was not. Don't think we'll be back anytime soon.

Upsides: The servers are fantastic. The food was plated nicely as well. They have some tastey cocktails and the fries are good too. Downsides: Calamari was soggy with grease and squishy. My main was cheap diner quality in taste - absolutely edible but a let down. I ordered a steak and sent it back because it was so over cooked which I was pretty embarrassed to do but after my disappointing apply I decided to be that person. It was also pretty flavorless other than what assume was powder mix gravy poured over it. The fish with the fish and chips was very dry. Overall I think it's a nice place but I did feel that the price is high for the food quality.

I have been here about 3 times ..... And their food is horrible! I have had the calamari and it was chewy and gymmy..... Like they really did not deep-fried it remotely long enough. I have had the Ruben and wow was it greasy and the horseradish sauce on it was so over powering I could not even enjoy it . There Caesar salad had so much raw garlic in it that is was bruning our mouths (roommate and I ) .... And there falafel is sub par you get better at the mall....... I have given them 3 trys and it's been 3 misses .... Sorry I won't be setting here aging !

The outdoor patio was nicely heated but the food could use some tweaking. Dry garlic ribs were delish but who serves a torpedo size piece of fish on a round bun?? Not to mention the fish had no seasoning what so ever. While I'm on the topic of bland, let me add their chicken quesadilla's to that category as well. The pizza came drenched in balsamic vinegar so that was a big disappointment as well. Service was prompt and very friendly. Fluid, I've heard good things about you but the food tonight leaves me thinking I won't be back.

I ordered a dinner tonight and they said it would take 30 minutes to be ready. However, after 30 minutes, we went to the restaurant and they said it still hasn’t been ready yet. After we waited in the car for another 10 minutes, they still haven’t called us yet, so we needed to call them back and check it up. They are just starting to pack it up. However, the chicken wings that I ordered are really dried and hard to bite, but the sandwich is pretty good. Would not go back again though.

If you like Ricky's, Swiss Chalet and Denny's, then you have no palate and this place is for you. Unbelievably common, lacks flavour and any creativity, dishes often come out undercooked or overcooked. The servers don't seem to try very hard or show any genuine amount of caring about your experience. I'm very confused as to why it's one of the top rated restaurants in the valley when I don't know anyone who enjoys their food.

We visited this establishment in November 2021. Very friendly, & efficient staff. Ambience was casual. We sat on the lounge side so we're able to watch all the activity at the bar over the lunch hour. Skip the dishes were there non stop while the patrons in the establishment were also very well tended to. Seemed to be a very well organized system. Moving on to the food. We ordered the fish and chips with a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was fresh and very delicious dressing. The fish was lightly battered and cooked perfectly, served with a very bland tartar sauce and surprisingly delicious kimchi slaw (had tang, spice & crunch). Highly recommend this place, it seems a lot of locals spend their lunch money there.

Nice place - decent service - but food was average at best. My 12 year old son says that the pizza tasted strange and he does not recommend this place to other kids.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The burger, seafood chowder and seasoned fries I had were to die for. This is a destination restaurant for just a burger. I can't imagine how great the rest of the menu must be. Highly recommended.
