Reviews of Courtenay Airpark (CAH3) (Night Club)

Courtenay Airpark is one of my two favourite fly-in destinations in BC, next to Nelson: both are exceptionally pretty locations, with the adjacent town only a few minutes' easy walking away. I overnight in Courtenay occasionally just for the fun of it, and enjoy the delicious food to be had at restaurants such as "Locals" (the former "Old House Inn"). In Courtenay there are several nice hotels and restaurants within walking distance, and one pub, the "Whistlestop", so close to the button of runway 31 that you can watch airplanes take off and land from its window. In addition, there is a lovely walking path right along the runway which many locals frequent and from where they can watch (and hopefully enjoy) airplanes. There are few aviation gems like this in the world, and I hope that the Airpark Association together with well-meaning citizens can keep defending this gem against the attacks mounted against it from time to time by people who have no appreciation for the unique joys of flying.

Perfect place to fly in to. The park itself is a short walk and is incredibly scenic. The surrounding area has a number of shops and restaurants. Unfortunately the airpark does not have winter maintenance so flying in during the snow is not always possible.

Beautiful little area with a nice walking path. You can watch the little bug smashers take off and land which is always fun, all while you enjoy the walk.

Nice spot for a quick (30-45 min) walk, views of the ocean, river, shops and small craft airport, fun to watch the planes take off. Bonus if you have children there is a playground at the south end of the path, can be busy at times.

Beautiful park with ocean views and a children’s playground provided by the Rotary Club. Really nice, easy paved loop trail around the “airport” aka the field where the planes are stored. There’s a cute coffee shop on the trail too called the Courtenay Grind where you can get hot/cold drinks and snacks.

Perfect fly-in destination! An excellent variety of restaurants, shopping and hotels within easy walking distance. The paved walking trail around the Airpark Estuary has many viewing spots for wildlife watching and kids love the Rotary Skypark. There’s something for everyone.

Great little park for kids, parking, porta-potty, walking path. Water fountain wasnt working. :( Super cute bunny families out playing at the wnd of the runway at sunset. Pretty magical space. Make sure you grab a tea at the Grind along the way!

Beautiful for short walks, especially with older folk. There's a coffee / soup spot right next to the parking lot. The scenery is spectacular from here and one can also choose to walk further towards direction Royston all along the water and through some nice forest areas.

Just remember to "Duck" Nice loop walk way around the strip and beyond. Wheelchair accessible. Take the camera. Get a cool shot of small planes landing or take off. Lots of waterfowl and seals swimming up the river. Bald Eagles.

Wow what a perfect airpark. land on the water in the river get the float dolly park the plane and get in your buddys wheel plane and take off all in about 10 minutes
