We were seated quickly and ordered a quick early bird special before 6 pm. We got our drinks and appie fairly fast. The mains came. I has steak and linguini carbonara and my wife has the Thai chicken soul and a Ceasar salad. The steak was burnt and was tasteless, so I got some mustard, hoping that it would taste better. It did not. Some might ask, why I didn't send it back, but I'm one of those who does not complain, but votes via reviews and my wallet. To add to the insult, the hostess asked if we were in a hurry and she would get our bill ready. I told her we were not. Gave me the impression that she wanted us out. The server was good.

While my husband and I found the noise level a little higher than we expected, at the same time, i think we both found we were reliving a little of the younger days in a lively bar setting. There was much laughter and uplifted spirits shown by both staff and patrons alike. The food was amazing!. We appreciate the measures in place for our safety. 100% reccommended.

Service is superb, as my server Paige was attentive, yet not intrusive; Further, she was extremely engaged and helpful with menu selections and options. And she effortlessly provided the same level of service to all her other tables. Seated area and patio is clean and very well maintained. Public health protocols are well in place and obeyed without being burdensome. Definitely a great place for a leisurely lunch.

I've had the opportunity to visit this place a few times now. Twice for a quick lunch and once for a quick beer at the bar. I've only had one of the chicken sandwiches and both times I split it with my wife. Food came served on two plates, which was very convenient. No lie, it's probably one of the best chicken club-style sandwiches I've had in a long time. Unfortunately, we haven't had a chance to visit for a proper evening 'date night', although the menu is standard and doesn't offer typical entrees. The staff and service have been friendly and quick for all occasions thus far. The only downside to Brown's is that they charge 20 oz prices for 14 oz beers. So...yeah. Not a huge fan of that. Great place overall and will be back soon!

Overall i have been dispointed by browns in the past but tonight with a great suprise it was very good me and my friend ate here tonight and the bun for the burger was a bit big and the gravy was to salty, as for me i had the butter chicken curry and it was all around very good no complaints. The service seemed a bit disorginized and they didnt seem to know what tables were open, the drinks very very well made nothing to fancy but still good

Horrible service from the waitresses. Took forever to take my wife’s and my order. Once they did it was wrong when served. Witnessed the waitresses bullying patrons and over exaggerating what patrons were doing and watched one man get kicked out for simply getting up and moving spots. I get the whole pandemic crisis but let’s be chill and give people the benefit of the doubt. The crowd there were horrible it seems to be filled with some 30 somethings acting like they are 20 and being insanely loud and obnoxious. It’s turning into a party scene and it’s too bad as I enjoy browns in Nanaimo. Comox valley seems to be filled with a bad 30 somethings male macho crowd that have made this restaurant their go to. This has ruined it for us decent people. Otherwise the food was good.

A crammed party environment. Waited forever for someone to take our order. No one came back to check on how we were doing, we didn't receive any napkins with our food. My friend had to get up and go find some. It's very over priced for what it is. And unless you go middle of the day don't bother trying to get in.. But hey it's Courtenays newest thing give it a few more months or go to the nananimo one but pricing was out to lunch for a standard burger and fries.. Go to one of the many other restaurants/ pubs near by instead

Service was great. Food was 70-30. Calamari was extremely bland and the onion rings were also very bland, but maybe they just changed the deep fryer oil? The blackened chicken ceasar salad was tiny for an $18 plate of lettuce. But the beef dip and the burgers were delicious. The cocktails were excellent, the Ceasars were top 5 ever (I am a ceasar expert). Nice atmosphere, nice venue.

Excellent and hot food served by very friendly and efficient staff. Calamari starter was wonderful. Meals were fish and chips and seared Ahi tuna bowls. Both were well received by the family. Covid 19 protocols are clearly laid out and adhered to. We ate out on their patio and it was great. Definitely recommended.

Food and service was great - I've never not had a great experience at a Browns. My only complaint is that the music is sooooo loud. It might not had been an issue pre COVID when masks weren't a thing, but it was extremely hard to hear any of the staff. All in all, highly recommend this place.

Waited outside for a table was told 20 minutes, was an hour, and 33 degrees outside, no water offered. Did not offer to seat us on their empty patio either. Missed one of our entrees on top of everything. The manager did eventually make things right. Staff was otherwise very good.

Yeah! One of my fav stops when travelling is finally opened in Courtenay and we were eager to check it out. Long waiting line at 5pm already and it seems packed [appropriately] every time we drive past. Food was great and newbie waitress sweet and helpful. Seems to be a new hotspot with great food, fast and upbeat service. We will be regulars.

Changing my review There's a male server (#203) who works there and he made my friends and I sat at patio with open cover (not sure how to properly describe it). We asked him multiple times if he could relocate us to the other seat where the panel is closed but he refused and said, "sorry they're taken already". We were there for an hour and half and none of those seats were taken. His attitude was really rude, both of my friends were freezing (it was a cold night). I'd like to warn people if you happen to run into him just refuse his service. And it was the first time my friends and I didn't leave any tip either because of his horrible service. I love the restaurant but one bad apple can make this restaurant look bad. Shout out to Lisa for her great service!

Although my steak was quite over done and they sent the wrong salad, they did send correct salad. When the bill came, to my surprise (as I had eaten all the steak anyhow)they had comped my meal. This is the way a good restaurant deals with these issues. When we return I hope to make this a 5 star rating!

Visited Brown's in Courtney in November 2021 on a couple's getaway. Staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and were very attentive to the patron's. So nice to see people enjoying their jobs. Server made suggestions for food based on our preferences and was very supportive of any change we wanted to make to our food items. We ordered off the happy hour menu (2-6) initially, parmesan fries & spicy chicken & pickles. Both were fresh and delicious. Next, we ordered our entree, the Butcher Block burger (juicy handmade patty on a soft bun loaded with toppings, very messy but delicious), and Szechuan beef noodle bowl (with rice instead of noodles). It was nice to see the noodle (rice) bowl wasn't filled with onions, as restaurants often do as a filler, it was just beef, carrots, bell peppers and broccoli. The flavour was bang on Szechuan. Very good. Highly recommend Brown's for any occasion.

Service was good, we used the waitlist option that was perfect so we didnt have to stand around and wait outside. If it's a weekend I would recomend that to any guest. Food was good and fast. My friend and I had somewhere to be in 45 minutes from our arrival and we managed to chat, eat, pay in an orderly fashion... my only suggestion would be more lighting ... great atmosphere if you can see it????

We went in and was asked for our ID cards for vaccine.my wife n I are both fully vaccinated and she showed her phone card n her driver's license, I showed my phone n thing is my license had just been renewed n they took my old one and gave me a temporary one but it has no picture. This she would not accept, even though I had the card with both vaccine dates on it. My phone with q picture , n all my credit cards that all match me. . . The manager also refused us entry. Unbelievable. We went down the road to white spot and they had no problem with my ID. We also had been to many restaurants in the few days bf this n never had any problems. You can not give people power like this, some people just do not know how to behave . We will never recommend this place again.

Terrible communication. Was told 20 minutes for a table 55 minutes ago, and still waiting outside with three kids who are very uncomfortable. The host is refusing us to wait on the patio, but other hostesses have let other parties sit on the patio to wait so they can at least get an appetizer and some water before being seated inside. Ridiculously awful service Edit: after waiting an hour and 5 minutes outside we were invited to sit at the bar. We got some water and a drink then our table became ready. The food was ok, but our 9 year old's order was completely missed, and brought out after everybody else was done eating. It's almost comical how terrible my experience was. While waiting, the party ahead of us (3 people) was seated ahead of us at a table that seats 10. We had to wait 20 minutes after they were seated before we were even offered a spot inside out of the 33 degree heat. Once inside we waited an additional fifteen minutes for a table. All we needed was somebody to tell us it was a ninety minute wait, and we would have waited at the pool at the hotel. Instead one of our kids and one adult got heat related nausea and headaches, being told "just bother five minutes" every 20 minutes. The manager on tonight did a great job, but it was unfortunately a little too late. We were comped our alcohol, and she was very apologetic. All in all, it was an unfortunate situation for all involved. Mistakes happen, it's just unfortunate to be the one who suffers the consequences
