Great place to have a drink and grab a bite. The decor is a pretty cool, low light relaxed ambience. Calm and easy in the early evenings and it gets busy and a little wild on the weekend evenings which is a good thing. The staff is very charming, extremely pleasant and attentive to make sure you're always good. Good job!

We used to go to Typhoon at least twice a week... not anymore. At least two times in a row, we have been served by drunk waitresses. The ambiance seems nice, but dont let it fool you. There is a spesific Bartender and a waitress who spend their time kissing and drinking on the stairs next to the entrance - very inappropriate behavior during work schedule. They should definitely select staff with more caution. Waiting for your bill is eternity - if you are planning on "in and out" this is not the place for you. The waitresses are not communicating among themselves, hence you can sit for 15mins just waiting for a menu. The food is good. Used to be much better Costumer Service... Now, disappointing.

This is usually my neighbourhood hang out, however it will no longer be. Meghan the server we had tonight placed the wrong order (which she confirmed correctly) and then brought the reverse to the table. She then proceeded to argue with us for a good 5 minutes. When we placed another order to rectify the situation she proceeded to spill the pitcher of sangria on one of the people in our group. That was the last straw. She was so rude and argumentative.

Horrible horrible service. I met with a friend at Typhoons after work. It was ten to 4, and the girl didn't let us in as don't open until 4pm. No big deal, we went to Pharmaprix until 4. We had a few drinks and some appetizers. After our plates were cleared, there was a cockroach crawling across our table. I killed it with our menus - my friend let out a little scream, and the waitress came over. She cleaned up the dead bug, and told us that she's Australian so bugs aren't a big deal. No apology. She didn't comp our meal or drink - we aren't the super fussy type so we paid our bill (she completely ignored us for 30 minutes after the bug incident). I will never go back to this establishment. If the roaches at your table aren't a huge deal to the staff, I cannot imagine what is happening in the back.

"I got chased by a rhinoceros, I got punched so hard at tomorrow land that my nose started bleeding everywhere on stage, I believe in leprechauns" I'm screaming this at the top of my lungs because there's pretty much no one else in the bar except for 30+ students that just preformed a spectacular show. I officially graduated with a bachelors degree in human relations! I got parking right in front of the bar. Finished performing the best play of my life and celebrated with my awesome classmates. I "WOOHOO" all I wanted and screamed playing two truths and a lie. We got a few rounds of drinks. My first drink was the typhoon Lagoon, sweet but completely virgin didn't taste a single drop of liquor. I also tried the raspberry buzz, it was too bubbly and lacked taste. I even took a breathalyzer test and after a drink and two shots I was only at 0.01. I also ordered the volcano burger with half fries and salad. It was decent but nothing I need to come back here for. Very basic burger with hot peppers and cheese on the center, didn't have tomatoes or lettuce in the middle to add a hint of freshness. Then again it's bar food what was I expecting. Cocktails and sangria were about $8-9 per glass. Shots were about $40-$45 for 15 shots. Service was sweet and she was able to tend to such a big and rowdy group so good for the waitress. They played some throwbacks which I always appreciate and the ambiance is very relax but fun. Overall decent place but I will not be returning unless my classmates are there playing two truths and a lie.

I was joining a group of friends in NDG for dinner and drinks, and this place came recommend. It was one of the first places to have the terrasse set up in April. The outdoor experience with friends is beyond compare. There is a good cross section of good to choose from, for me, poutine is always an option. There was a good selection of beer and other cocktails. The staff was very accommodating. We were a combination of French / English guests at the table, and the waitress quite handily switched between both languages to address the needs of the clientel.

I was very disappointed with a lot of the restaurant. The seating inside is nice, but when I sat outside they put me in a very poorly lit area. I could barely see my food. Speaking of the food, it was the best part of the restaurant. It was decent but had a lot of oil. The drinks and food was over priced. I understand that it is on monkland, but I was still surprised. The waitress was nice, but she messed up my order. I would suggest going to ye old orchard at the top of monkland. The prices are cheaper and the whole aesthetic is much nicer in my opinion.

Update: Promised I’d come back and give 5 stars when they earned it! Went back to Typhoon in September and had a great experience. Was sitting inside this time and staff was kind and were okay with us sticking around around closing time. Really happy I went back another time! —— From July 2021: There are many things I enjoy about Typhoon including their delicious burgers and general ambiance. However, what seems to be lacking at times is worthwhile customer service. I recognize that they are understaffed (based on signs for hiring on the door) so I am aware that some of the more glaring issues with my latest visit (including unreasonably long wait times and sometimes inattentive wait staff) may be simply rectified by having more staff. I appreciated how they adhered to COVID rules which made me feel safe, especially as many places are loosening restrictions beyond what the govt is allowing.

Whenever I’m home in Montreal, Typhoon is a must. Relaxed unpretentious place to catch up with my gals and always guarantees a fun night. I think I went there longer than 5 years ago in fact but I probably went to the Italian restaurant right next door and Google Maps might think I was at his place. A long time ago I was there I believe this is the one in monkland village? In which case I was just there to meet her friends and they suggested the place and I had one drink and then we left. I can't say it's great or not great or anything about it at all quite frankly but I'm trying anyhow because it's used to be a neighborhood landmark just below the Vietnamese owned computer store by a couple of good guys

Terrasse on Saturday, the terrasse looks alright, it's pretty basic. It's more of a quieter place to chill or catch up with people (idk about inside). The waitress was nice but she was standing next to us waiting for us to pick a drink, it was annoying. Drink was really good tho

Beware of the waitresses/staff stealing money & extra tips!!! The food & place was very nice, and our waitress was very nice and pleasant throughout the evening, but our experience went sour the next day when i checked my cc statement online... Despite my generous tip she helped herself to an EXTRA tip by doubling the amount on my bill.... I'm having this contested and advised VISA right away of this fraud... BEWARE... i had already heard this before about this place, but didn't believe it until it happened to me! The waitresses (ours was Allison) have a tendency to take more than it is given to them. check your bills & change after you pay and keep your credit card bills until the transactions go through!

Hosted a birthday party of 30 people and Mike really took care of us. Spend lots of time going back and forth on all the details beforehand and his suggestions were perfect. The food was absolutely wonderful. Fish tacos, general tao cauliflower, dumplings, chicken wings and mini poutines were raved about all night. Megan did an excellent job of taking care of us from 8pm until almost closing. The DJ was on point and the ambiance was perfect. The guys even got to watch the hockey game. Hadn’t been there in over 15years and I can’t wait to make this a regular spot. Totally recommend this place.
