This is my first time back in years and it was so-so. Service was decent enough, but the food wasn't good at all. I ordered the potato skins and they looked like they were just thrown on a cutting board and sent out. Very little presentation or cleanliness to it. Looked messy. Waitresses were decent at keeping in contact, but at times were too busy staring at their cellphones to notice customers. The place is small and can become overcrowded pretty easily. But, the frozen white Russians here are delicious

August 9. Long wait for what was supposed to be cod and chips. The fish part was barely thicker than the batter, and the chips were certainly no better than what you would get at Wendy's. At least 2 parties gave up waiting for service, and others were told it would be at least 45 minutes for a table, though they were only 80% full. Stay away with both hands. I would rather go hungry again and wait for breakfast the next morning at the hotel.

Decided to grab a bite to eat rather than cooking at the campsite. Cool spot in the bar below the Harbour Restaurant. Nice view of the harbor and the ferry, and the poutine was pretty decent (though with shredded cheese??). Met some friendly locals that were very happy to tell us some stories and make our last night in Newfoundland very memorable.

Incredibly rude and sarcastic staff. We are not from around here and we were treated as if we were supposed to know everything. Very reluctant to help us through the process. We had to seat ourselves and we found out minutes later that we had been refused service because we were too loud walking in. It was explained to us that "This is a family restaurant." We are three guys and one girl, ages 18, 22, 21, and 21. We are very respectful and kind hearted people. The moment we walked through that door we were judged by our looks because we were wearing leather jackets from riding our bikes. We left abruptly and will not be returning. One of the worst restaurant service I have ever gone through and I am an avid traveler. We traveled further down the road and found a Tim Horton's which had friendly staff and great food for what it is.

Never again!!!! Firstly, when you walk in no one was there to show us to the a table. Secondly, there was dirt under the table and on the chair. Thirdly, no one came to take the order, we had to go up to the counter get a waitress to take are order. Fourthly, it was an hour wait just to get our food. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!!!!!!

Beware! Eat elsewhere! Worst service ever! When we arrived, we aked the waitress where we should sit and were told to sit weherever we liked. We sat at the only clean table in the restaurant. After sitting down and beginning to look at the menu, we were told the table we were sitting at was reserved. So we moved to a different table and waited for the dirty dishes to be cleared. After ordering we waited a full hour without any update on our food. We asked how much longer it would be. The extremely "confused" waitresses said she would check, then never came back. After waiting some more, we attempted to get her attention again - she promptly looked away and left the room. And so did we, without ever getting food. The food, from what we saw, looked like typically greasy spoon fare. We overheard a lady at a nearby table send her burger back because it was raw in the middle. Another lady told the waitress her chicken was extremly dry. Yum.

Overall, poor service. Be prepared to wait! Wait to be acknowledged, have your order taken, get your drinks, and receive your food. Of four meals, we had one order that came out incorrectly. We got to keep the mistake, however, the new order was also wrong! The server never came back to see if everything was ok (i.e., never did a quality check). The other three meals were very tasty! While we waited for our bill, we watched another table wait for someone to talk to them for about 20 minutes! We had to go to the counter to get our bill and let the staff know another table had been waiting for someone to take their order. There was no manager available to hear my concerns, and the poor service reflected a general lack of organization and leadership. The staff are in dire need of training! If you are the owner of this establishment, do your business a favor and spend some time training and supporting your staff!

We were part of a private party in the downstairs bar (1 Ton Bar and Grill). The food was really good. The fries were hot and crisp. The club (pictured) was yummy with a full chicken breast and fresh veggies. My husband had the 1 ton burger (pictured) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was prompt, polite and friendly. Definitely worth a drop in!

One Ton has some questionable rules regarding eating in. Apparently you aren't allowed to eat in if you are underage even if you aren't ordering any alcoholic beverages. Me and a few of my buddies went to have a nice night there one night got sat down to a table and was all kicked out because our DD was 18. I think this rule is nothing but Bullsh*t and should be changed so they can start getting some money!

I am typically understanding and patient. This is by far the worst restaurant experience i have had. Almost 2 hours to get a Cesar salad and a piece of cod. Waitress is rude and inattentive. Worst service I have ever experienced. Food is mediocre at best. The place is half empty and the waitress words are “it’s hectic”. It is a total joke. I wished zero star was available as a rating. It is what this place deserves.

We enjoy having a meal or two every time we are in Port Aux Basques. Delicious food, lots of options even for non-seafood people a d beautiful view of the water. We were a bit disappointed last visit as once we had our meal, no one came back to ask if we were good or wanted anything else like dessert.

The absolute slowest food service, no fault of the bartender who was handling a full house solo. As for the food - the worst seafood chowder I have ever eaten. I dare say not one piece of fish was local. So very disappointing! The reason for 2 stars is for the bartenders efforts to keep up

Very slow service (waited 1 hr 15 mins) and not nearly enough fries. No waitress interaction throughout the entire wait. On the other hand, Burger was great when we finally got it.

We had a nice meal--one of us taking advantage of the breakfast served anytime. The view is very nice. Service left something to be desired. We were seated at a table that needed to be cleaned (at our request for the outdoor view) but it took a while for it to be cleaned. It took a while for our order to come also with someone who came in later being served earlier. With a location like this, a lot more could be done to make this a great place.

Friendly staff but never came back to ask if everything was ok until we were finished, I guess she knew the quality of food and we might want a refund. The meats (turkey) and soup was ALL frozen thawed and heated in Microwave. Dressing was dried up and Hard. Mashed potateos were like boiled cold potatoes put through a ricer and micrwaved. Not good. Will not go again.

Sometimes it is better to check the reviews first before you go. Sorry we didn't. Service was very slow. Several customers left while waiting for food or to even place their order. Donair was what I expected, that's why I gave them two stars, but the fried chicken was one of the worst we ever had. Too bad.....we stopped because it looked busy for this small town......won't stop there again

I went to the 1 Ton Bar and Grill downstairs but Google doesn't give that option. The food was good, the service was friendly and very quick, and the one problem we did have with cleanliness was resolved for us in a very acceptable manner.

We had breakfast here one morning during our vacation. I was blown away by the fresh homemade bread that came with it! Everything was delicious. Great greasy spoon, your place to eat the morning after a Newfie night. Nice views of the harbour too.

The restaurant has a nice view of the harbour, but past that there is nothing great about this place. We waited 50 minutes for our drinks to come to the table, and an hour and a half for our food. When the food did come many things were missing and the shrimp and scallops were horribly over cooked. Our server was particularly rude and did not seem concerned with the issues we had with our meals. Other patrons seems to be having the same problems. Would not recommend a visit here, there are many other wonderful places to eat here

Slowest service I've ever experienced. Servers chatting instead of bussing tables, while customers are walking in and sitting down. Ended up walking out because our food had already taken almost an hour and we were told it still wasn't fully prepared. If you've got all day to wait for a burger and be ignored, stop in, it may taste good, otherwise you're better to hit the Subway at the Irving before you get on the boat.

Nice restaurant, atmosphere is great and it has an awesome view. The food was what you would expect of a typical Newfoundland seaside restaurant, however the wait was far too long. I had ordered the fish and chips (which were good) but it took almost 50 minutes to get it, and the place wasn't even half full.

Couldn't tell you what the food was like. We tried to order, many food items were unavailable. Same problem for the table next to us. I ordered chowder and salad. In my restaurant experience items which should come out instantaneously. It took over an hour for my the salad..... ? It was dry. They forgot the dressing which I had to add myself and stir. It was uneaten when my chowder arrived fifteen minutes later. Need less to say after over an hour I was so pissed I had no appetite. The staff where apologetic it was a shame they have to bear the storm. If management changes, this place may have a chance. Nice view friendly wait staff.

A restaurant on the waters edge in NL, serving box bought seafood chowder and boxed desserts. I expected fresh and local. Servers didn't even know what was in the chowder or which desserts they had. Server wasn't very friendly either.

Food was pretty good once we eventually got it, but the service and speed to order and get food made a negative experience. It might be that the staff has to take and fill orders for the Harbour Restaurant, and the Greco, but an hour to get food wasn't resonable - we asked when we arrived, and the server said 30-35 mins. Also never got a water refill after asking for one.

The food was bad, mostly straight from the freezer to the deep fryer, which was not hot enough to keep the grease from soaking in. But waiting an hour and having to ask twice about our food, which couldn’t have taken more than seven minutes to fry up - that’s a real problem, especially for a place right next to a ferry dock where people are presumably hoping to board on time!

Do not spoil your impression of Newfoundland by visiting this restaurant ???? From start to finish our experience was beyond poor. Service was non-existent. We had a group which all had their issues with service/meals but for myself, I had a bread tab IN my nachos. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she just took my plate and said nothing ???? Then, instead of giving everyone a bill, she gave us a group bill and we had to sort it out ourselves.... When we couldn't make sense of the bill (extra charges, missing charges etc) someone in the group ended up having to pay the entire thing because it had been screwed up so much, and we didn't have time to waste there any longer because we were late for the ferry. Everyone agreed it was the worst service they'd ever had. Do not recommend.

Wonderful meal! I shared an order of mussels and had Cod au Gratin. Everything was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. My mother had the pork chop dinner and was very impressed as well. Great view of the Port aux Basques harbour! Friendly service! No complaints here. :)
