Good food, and our server was very friendly !
Good good great service. Great margaritas. Will be back
The food & service& margarita were amazing. 10/10 would recommend
I’ve had good food experiences here in the past but it’s not quite the same quality anymore. The burgers are always delivered or served with an overcooked hamburger patty. Unfortunately this has become a common occurrence in the past year. The staff here are awesome, but I can’t recommend people to order a burger.
Great food, great atmosphere
Enjoyed fish tacos, although the meal was eaten on the patio on a cool day. I don't enjoy wearing my coat to eat. Should have done takeout. I had a Caesar, knowing its good rep here- it was good but a bit too spicy for me. I forgot to ask for low spice. Good service.
Excellent food and great patio.
We had a bite here while on holiday. Gluten free is important for us as my husband has a gluten allergy. Choices were quite limited here and we would not recommend it for celiacs. Being happy hour, there were a limited number of discounted food items available but they were out of the oysters we had requested. We did enjoy the flavour of the grilled shrimp and the ceviche was tasty. A little on the spendy side and service was slow despite the small number of customers. The patio is also somewhat noisy due to traffic. It feels like a place that is trying but still doesn’t have the staff it needs to be great.
Good food, good service
Love this place. Look at them tater tots baby woooooo
First time in nice place socal Restaurant ..it was gd foods ...
Good food, good service
Fun spot to come hangout at the bar or on the patio. Good food too!
First time visit..covid friendly restaurant...good quality food and nice ambiance.
I have had food from Socals many times but this was my first time having actually sat in house since covid had hit. Service was horrible... I have never had such slow service for such a well rated restaurant. Me and my girlfriend tried on multiple occasions to flag our waiter, she would see us and walk away. It took our waiter forever to even get our order, and we had to wait a total of 15 minutes just to get a refill on water, and an extra 8 minutes for a refill on iced tea. When we received our order, things were forgotten and we had to wait AGAIN for even longer to just get a small side of Jalapeños. My girlfriend received more tomato (about an inch thick) than burger. Not exactly happy with the service for the price we paid.
Best happy hour I've attended in ages. Daily specials look great, too (marg pitchers?!)
Great night shared with good friends. Food was fabulous and our server was wonderful. We will be back.
Service
Always a great experience everyone we go... great food and excellent service
Delicious food, a welcoming environment, cozy booths and super friendly wait staff. SoCal has quickly become one of my favorites in CR!
Food was Good but not great the service was excellent
The service was good and they were friendly. We just had drinks..I really liked the sweet white wine they found for me..
One of the trendier places in Campbell River. Have been here a number of times. The portions can be a bit too small for the price. The food is always fresh.
Good food and great time with friends
Good food & friendly service. I especially appreciated their screening, spacing & partitions!
We got a cocktail and it was pretty cool. We went for the burrito, very delicious food! Check this out
Awesome patio and food.
Great service by Steve. Really enjoyed our meal and the casual ambiance. Ordered the single serving of nachos and it was more than plenty for the both of us. Backyard burger was a good choice. Wings were just ok.
Super staff, super food, love the shrip tacos ????????
Entering the restaurant, it looks like they're Celebrating Day of The Dead! Skulls painted, painted like your in Mexico; they do have a patio which is always busy! During The Pandemic, & now especially after the restrictions being lifted!
Wonderful spot with great margueritas! Casual but quiet dining. Very good service.
Very friendly staff and great tasting food. Had live music Friday.
Just okay. Very fast service with good servers. Food was okay, but did not stand out. Had Fajitas and California salad. Salad was quite good. Fajitas were just very boring. Reasonable value for money. I will try it again.
Small menu nice place for drinks thats about it
Great service. Big portions of VERY delicious food. First time there; I'll be back.
Good food nice waitress
Loved it! We were driving by and saw the patio so stopped in. Our waiter was super friendly and fast. I had the taquitos apps 2 nice size ones with a good sauce. We would come back, the drink special prices were great.
The food and service have always been outstanding. I really enjoy the food and they always have something tantalizing on their fresh sheet of the day. I particularly love the lively atmosphere and decor. It's a great place with friendly service.
Good food, fun place, great location
Place looks busy. But not dog friendly anymore.
Our table started with the Tatchos which are tater tot natchos which everyone really enjoyed. I had the enchiladas. They needed some more spice and flavor. They were really lacking in heat and acid. Need to add some Cayenne, lime and cilantro. My Mom had the burrito which I also tried and it had the same issues. Overall not bad but need some work on that genuine Mexi-Cali flavor.
Delicious food and friendly service. Our meals arrived super quickly. Sat out on the balcony and enjoyed live music. Wonderful atmosphere.
We enjoyed our meal. The portion size was good. The food was flavourful and presented nicely. The service was great. All and all was a good time had by all. Will be back
Had the ceasar special. Very tasty. Great service
Good gluten free fish tacos.
Wow! That was the best burrito I have ever eaten. The chips and salsa were really good too. Not tex/mex, way better!
Very busy but very pleasant atmosphere. This definitely has a wide array of food selection on its menu and they constantly seem to have different weekly and daily deals. They also have live performances on the regular apparently. The beer selection is great and the food tastes delicous. Above all, the service was fantastic. Definitely a must eat in Campbell River!
Meal type
Good food and g Company
We always make sure to do our research before going to "pet friendly" establishments and this place had reviews out of the park. After over an hr drive with my husband and our little very well behaved guy, we were told they aren't allowing it due to "limited space" . Funny thing is that we saw toddlers in high chairs "taking up" a lot more room than a well behaved dog under an owners chair. Too bad as our guy has his own Instagram page that is based on reviews from other pet owners so unfortunate we couldn't add this to his roster. Not to mention that being a mother of two, I know that an older couple with a pet would not only drive more revenue but also a less negative experience for other guests than a young child.
Great food & super service
Very nice, casual restaurant. Generous mains at reasonable prices. Good selection of craft beers. Friendly and prompt service. Busy, make a reservation! Ample parking in this strip mall location.
No change table for babies in the men's room only the womens. What's with that? Food was good ????
Friendly staff, fast timely service & concious of covid protocols.
I have been to socal many times. Most of what i have had for food and drink has been pretty decent... good but not mind blowing. The hot wings however were among the worst ive ever had. And for $16 bucks you better be brining some A+ wing game. Probably be going back because there isnt many local options for patio/ pub in the area.... but never getting the wings again
Was excited to try but not impressed with value for money. Added $5 to add a couple veggies to tater tots, sad, and $3.30 for a watery pop that is mostly ice.
Covid rules in place, good distancing, good food, friendly staff. Offered specials and yummy drinks
I really enjoyed the mussels and clams. The margaritas are amazing. I recommend the none blended version. Reasonable with the prices. The portions are a little small. I'm coming back.
The food is so good
lovely service, yummy tacos and a great paloma!
Great service. Fabulous fresh food.
The server was slow, didn’t write anything down. My son requested no ice, he got ice, when he asked for water, no water. cocktails were not made properly, my mojito was just limeade with more lime inside and some mint tossed in, not rubbed, smashed or so much as torn, even after my comment of the first one being extremely sour (my spouse can’t taste, he drank the first one, second one was sent back as it was twice as sour) food took forever, was burnt, over seasoned and just lacked any care whatsoever…. which she would have known had she bothers to come back for a quality check. We get the bill, mojito still charged. While obviously looking for my server, another server approached me, and only then she comes running up now suddenly realizing her alleged error. We paid $120 half eaten meals for 3, and 4 drinks. If I were any less of a person, I would have left no tip at all. Almost wish I were. Great menue though, someone’s hard work and creativity is being sadly Butchered. We were looking forward to eating there the whole 1.5 hour drive. What a disappointment. Would have been better off going through a drive thru. -5 stars.
Food was decent. Staff accommodating. Portions might have been a tad light or I was hungry. Atmosphere was decent. Not too loud given the number of patrons. It was bustling on a Friday night.
Just came here with my husband and I and our fur child based on all the positive reviews online about being "pet friendly" only to find out that they do not allow them on the patio. We drove over an hr so was very disappointed! considering no where on their website has this been updated. The reason was due to "limited space" but yet toddlers in high chairs are allowed which take up more room???? Won't be coming back even without our dog. Lack of communication is one of the main reasons of dis-satisfied customers. Funniest part is if you compare the bills and spent at your establishment let alone the nuisance to other customers or cost in cleaning etc. Responsible pet owners with well behaved pets exceed revenue. Good luck.
Out of Supreme Ceaser that we were looking forward too. How does that happen on a Saturdaya night. Enchiladas were meh, California salad meh..Their regular ceasers are good just disappointed all together.
We ordered food last night and it was absolutely terrible. I ordered the fish and chips to share with my son and as we cut into the fish the batter was completely raw on both pieces. The wings were cold, bland and slimy and the burger was mediocre. I spent $80 on food from this restaurant that was literally thrown into the garbage. Very disappointing.
Great food, friendly staff.
Great tapas style menu and good drinks selection

Service
We’ve been several times and the food is always delicious! Last night we were served by Julie and she was stellar!! The food and drinks were so good but she made our night!
Oh my goodness. Hats off to chef Dan on the latest freshsheet menu item. The Vacant Growler pizza.. ..nothing vacant about it..except your growling stomach for three days...my taste buds have been infused with what I assume is angelic bliss...let's start with bison meatballs which alone would have been enough...but not for Dan..let's add pineapple..not regular pinnapple..lets carmalize it first. And add cheese...managuetois....ya I said it..3 cheeses. Beer infused crust is the foundation on this masterpiece. Roasted Pablano peppers..thanks Pablo...asiago cheese graces the final touch with shaved pancetta....I'm in heaven...oh wait no it SoCal!!!
Awesome staff as ever
Had the Supreme Caesar! Novelty at best, mine was paired with an egg salad sandwich? Lol if they stick to maybe traditional pairings like fried food, cheeses, meats and pickled preserves they would do a bit better ! Service was awesome ???? the buff male server upsold me on a beer while I waited for my caesar! Smart little devil ????
Awesome lunch, cold beer. Nice
Ordered a xango and was amazed with every flavorful bite
Won't be going back there. Bad food, and even worse service.
Excellent food and service. Very clean. I have been there a few times now for the Mango Chicken wrap. I highly recommend SoCal.
Great food, great atmosphere. Great service

Friendly and fun atmosphere. They have some fun menu items. Just a bit expensive though.
This is the go to place for Mexican food when you travel ever to Campbell river. We were there on the 24th of this month. Great ambience, great people and great food. Make sure you order the nachos and the jalapeno poppers, you won't regret it.

Surprised at all the great reviews here. We started with drinks: a margarita, mojito and a Moscow Mule - all were very watery and tasteless, I switched to a double vodka and soda after that and it was also watery, no hint of vodka in it at all. For appetizers we had the totchos which were soggy, lukewarmt and kind of tasteless; the chili grilled shrimp - no hint of chili - again tasteless; the stuffed jalapenos - not bad but just meh. Our mains were: chicken fajitas - the chicken/peppers mix tasted like it had Greek seasoning on it, there was absolutely nothing Mexican about them, the rice and the beans were very weirdly sweet - we were told there was lime cordial in the rice - what??? -the most prominent ingredient in Lime Cordial is sugar???? it was bizarre; battered fish tacos - the tortillas were not warmed even a little, the batter on the fish tasted like pancakes (sweet) and the slaw was also sweet (must have put lime cordial in those too). I had the seafood linguine - the sauce was not bad, the pasta cooked fine, the prawns overcooked, the salmon fishy and if you don't know what a swimming scallop is, don't expect to taste a succulent scallop. Instead expect something that looks like a sheep's eyeball and tastes like a squishy, very fishy oyster blech, I choked down one and left the rest - not their fault really, I should have clarified what a swimming scallop actually was, the dish was served with a limp, barely toasted piece of tasteless toast(ish). Anyway it was all around disappointing. On our $180 tab, the Manager took half the fish tacos ($8.50) off the bill. Certainly wont be returning, especially while they are putting lime flavored sugar water in everything. Music was good.
Wicked spot great service and food. Thanks
This was a great place. Food, service, atmosphere all super
Small birthday party of 4 enjoyed the room, server, service and the food. The only oddity was that the 3 orders of mussels had a wide variance of the taste, texture and heat in the sauce. Enjoyable over all!
I really love the atmosphere of the restaurant, the food was spectacular
Service was outstanding. (Thank you Saskatchewan contingent ) The food was great. The roasted beet salad and fish tacos were delish.
Good food! Portions to price ratio could have been better. Had the seared tuna salad which was tasty but lacking in "body". The dressing was also more of a thick dip than a salad dressing. Service was good and my friends food looked really tasty. Will go back.
