Total disappointment!!! FOOD & Washrooms & beverage ???????????? Fake cheese on nachos? Gross Caesar, urine covering washroom floor ... Absolutely disgusting bathrooms unless you walk through the casino to those washrooms. They have a urinal as well as toilet in each and it's a gross mess! We ordered nachos and Caesar (alcoholic beverage), BOTH WERE TERRIBLE. The presentation of the nachos was good but we couldn't figure out what they used for cheese !!! It was very runny, and simply went right through to the bottom. Most of the chips were completely bare. It was the weirdest thing!!

Amazing, Excellent and Phenomenal experience at Match New Westminster. Top notch food, atmosphere and staff. Have been here multiple times and everytime is an amazing experience all around. I always take my friends and out of town guests here as the food is always superb and food presentation is unmatched. Service is excellent, the staff are well trained, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu offering great recommendations. The place is clean and very well maintained. Our waitress Jessica and one of the managers Beth was awesome in making sure our food was served fresh and on time. The bartenders knew their mixology and it showed in the drinks. Best place to watch sports ppv events such as UFC, NBA, NFL to name a few as they have a big high quality screen to accomodate crowd of guests as shown in the photo. Match New Westminster truly cares about your experience and will definitely recommend.

My friend and l went camping near Cambell River and the weather got pretty bad so we couldn't set up camp but on the way there we found this casino and decided to stop and have some dinner. The service was great, the food was awesome, they have happy hr on their appetizers we were just offer bunch of plates and shared. We played some games watch some hockey and we got on their WiFi to plan our hikes along the golden river... We love it...

We were in at the beginning of September and had an extremely unorganized and unpleasant experience. We had a group of eleven ladies out for a get together, for our first time at match. Our food all arrived at diffeent times, some of our drinks never came and the majority of our food was cold once it did arrive. And the person that was buying dinner didn't recive her dinner until anout 30 minutes after the first plates were served. There was no communication from the server, she did not clear away plates or cups. We then had to ask the kitchen 3 times for the payees dinner. We also had to go to the bar to ask for our own waters. There was one server named Beverley who did come to help she was extremely nice and tried to help the best she could. Unfortunately by that time things were to far gone. Every one had a different excuse, server blamed kitchen, manager blamed server. There was no responsibility taken on anyones part. Had the food atleast been warm it probably would have been decent. There needs to be proper management and communication which was very poor in our experience.

Took over twn minutes to get asked about drinks but we weren't given a menu to order any. Then we were told they didn't print a drink menu, just the beer/wine one "because covid". Ordered a long Island which took 10 additional minutes and came made with pure lemon juice which is gross and not all how it's made. Burgers were meh, pickles were old and soggy, fries had zero flavor and worst of all, everything is served on a wooden plate which is unsanitary af. Dog was happy to get our overcooked flavorless patties. Server was pleasant. But This place has gone downhill. Will not come back. used to be so good.

They take forever to seat you and when you finally do get seated the server is no where to be found, the server never ended up even coming to my table, waited for ONE HOUR. I just ended up leaving will never return here again, terrible.

Very slow service. When asked about it, they seemed annoyed, "it will be out soon".....abrupt turn and walk away..... Food took an hour and there were 5 tables and 3 of them were already eating when we got there. Music was Extremely loud. Then the lights went off, and ate by a tea light candle....couldn't even see our food. Then the loud DJ came onto the stage....left. When the manager asked how everything was I told her. She said sorry to hear that, turned around and walked away. Dont ask if you aren't prepared to hear the truth. Definately Won't be back.

I went to the Match Eatery & Public House to grab drinks and food with my co-workes and received very awful service. I was appalled at the attitude that my waitress had towards me. The waitress came around to take our order and I had ordered a drink and fries. As she continued to take my co-workers order I had changed my mind on my food choice. I asked if instead of the fries I could get a burger. She then continued to take the remaining orders and before she left I tried to confirm that I did not want the fries and only wanted the burger. She nodded and said yes then walked away. Despite my efforts to make her understand what I wanted, she had punched in the order for the fries. When the food came to the table it was not delivered to us by the waitress that took our order. So she was confused as to who's fries they were and I explained that it was a probably a misunderstanding on the waitress's part. The waitress said okay and walked off. The waitress who had originally taken the order came back and very rudely asked "so you don't want the fries?" I replied saying "no, because that's not what I ordered." The waitress replied "well they will be going to waste if you don't take them, so I'm just going to leave them on the table." The waitress spoke to me with lots of attitude and was bluntly rude. So much so that it ruined not only my experience but my co-workers. This was my first time coming here and, needless to say, I will not be returning.

9 years and this place still can't seem to put decent food on the menu. If you end up here, stick with the fries or nachos...everything else is cheap ingredients trying to be something fancier...and pricier. Not worth it. Service staff is much better. Place is much busier. Have a decent variety on the beverage menu.

Great venue for a UFC night. There are screens everywhere so it's easy to watch regardless of where you're sitting. As always, come early or you may not get a seat. Great food, a little on the pricer side but it's worth it if you're going to be sitting there watching a game/fight.

Never been impressed with the food here. I go a coupe or three times a year hoping it will get better but it doesn't. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is ok if you going for a few drinks and appetizers to share but their mains are mediocre at best.

A little out of the way, this sport bar is quite spacious. Lots of TV's to choose from and no real bad seat. Three large screen are quite bright make watching easy. Around the central area are quite a few areas that can be rented out. Service is good but the food is your average pub fare. Not a great selection of beers on tap, nothing local.

This place is nice and their food is pretty decent. I find their menu item's names amusing. Stay away from the Caesar salad.(it is de-constructed) Everything else is great! Had their Steak, blackened chicken, chicken wings and they are all delicious. Prices are ok too.

Very disappointed. I have tried reaching out to two separate email addresses and have not heard back from either. I came to this restaurant a couple weeks ago and had terrible service. it is somewhere I come to eat often, as we live in the area. It was a busy night, so I understand the servers were kept busy, but I was ignored for two hours which is completely unacceptable. No one came to tend to us to see if we needed a drink, or to order our meals, or to offer more water. It was after two hours that I had to get out of my seat to find someone that would be able to help us. I am very unhappy with the service that night and unfortunately makes us not want to go back.

Great place to eat. Bottomless drinks. Went during happy hour and didn't disappoint. We ordered fries, nachos, tacos and burger sliders. We had a great person catering our needs. Friendly staff and I love the individual bathroom. We would definitely eat here again.

As it was my first time to be there to meet my friends, I was Happy. The Ambiance is good, there is Enough room for friends, live Music and I like the way they implemented safety rules to distance us from the rest of the crowd. But, my experience with food was not good. Maybe it was just once but, no, I will not go there if I am just going to eat. Better go somewhere else or cook at home. If it is to have fun with friends and Music, I would go back there.

Outside covered patio is beautiful. Service was very good and we had a party of 7 people. The menu has a lot of fantastic choices. My sandwich (Turkey/apple/brie) was only so/so, it lacked apple taste and not as food as similar sandwich at Earl's. The salad I had with it on the other hand was DELICIOUS. Next time I will just get the salad with chicken and save myself the calories!

I've never had a bad meal at these restaurants. Fantastic flavour and great cut of steak. Very friendly staff and the prices aren't too high. The churros dessert with icecream will blow your mind! Wasn't planning on getting dessert but it was recommended by the staff and holy doodle thank the lord she did.

September 8th a quiet sunny evening we showed up probably right at the beginning of Happy Hour. There were only 2 other tables seated on the patio and it took us 15 minutes to even have someone come and acknowledge us. It went from bad to worse. The are handing out a "Summer Rose" flyer for wine. We tried ordering each Glass off that menu. Sorry we don't have that... went through all 3 then switched to red. The first two reds I requested, sorry we are out of that. Was probably half an hour by the time we were able to even order a drink. My husband tried to order a meal, again sorry we don't have that today. This place used to be our go to. Not sure if Covid can be blamed as liquor doesn't seem to be something in short supply right now and there were 3 girls working so the service just seemed to be alot of confusion. We had been there a few weeks previous in the evening at the casino and the food quality was nothing like it used to be. Our meal was mediocre at best, complete lack of any apology for the lack of advertised wines. Unfortunately we won't be back and have heard from others they feel the same. Lastly just a note if you reprint your menu. Your street tacos are cheaper from the regular menu than you have them advertised for at happy hour.

The service was horrible. First I waited outside for at least 5 minutes for someone to come out. I was seated and then waited for 10 minutes for a server to come to the table. I gave my drink and food order. I ordered an iced tea with no ice or lemon wedge. It came with a lemon wedge. I finished my drink before my food arrived. My drink was finally refilled when I was more than halfway through my food. Server never checked how the food was. The chicken wings were very good. However the ceasar salad was gross. I didn't even eat half of it. It was my first time going to this restaurant and will more than likely be my last. Super disappointing.

Came here to meet up with my sister and her boyfriend, and I was not at all disappointed with this place! Really good food, and they had a decent selection of beers on tap. I like that the casino is right there too, in case I get the urge to toss a $20 into a machine, haha. I had the turkey Brie club, and it was great- piled high with tons of turkey and the fries were perfectly crispy. I’ll be back, for sure!

I come to eat at Match atleast 4 times per month, I have had there fabulous brunch as well as tasty lunches and dinners. I have never had a bad meal, food has been amazing from appetizers to main course and the service always friendly and fast. This has been my 3rd year celebrating New Years Eve at Match. I was surprized to learn that you could only get into the eatery this year by ticket only, however I could understand why as the previous years have been quite succesful parties. A $40.00 ticket got us a not so generous portion of cold, terrible food that left us hungry, a laptop for a DJ not to mention wanting to. seat outside the bar and dance floor area, which we didnt agree to. The poor server had only been servng for a week and could not remember the order of drinks the second he left the table. It was a great disappointment. We spent over $200.00 in drink oders and REAL appetizers throughout the evening. I will not attend another New Years Eve at Match if its by ticket only. KK

This place is great for the brunch special! 10$ for any plate on the brunch menu and 5$ mimosas (only available on weekends). The meal was delicious, tater tots were my favorite however the potato wedges on the skillet were a bit undercooked. I got the salmon Benny which I have 0 complaints about and would come back just for the brunch! The restaurant is also very nice inside with lots of big screens, pool tables, large comfortable booths and lovely service.

Service here was amazing, and the eatery was huge. It was spacious and clean. We ordered the seafood spaghettini for special price of $12 but it lacked flavour. The ahi tuna was plain and over cooked. But the Parmesan wings and tuna stack was great. The pulled pork poutine had a sour taste to the gravy perhaps due to the Guinness in it. But the fries was crispy and pulled pork was ok. I would come back to explore more on the menu and try the happy hour and try to catch a game

I love this place except... The MMA fight was on Friday night and the volume was so loud it hurt my ears. When the fight was over they continued the music at "Club Volume". Food was good and server friendly. We could hardly talk amongst the 4 of us. My buddy put his work ear plugs in. I'll take my $100 someplace else when the place is that loud. I wonder if Worksafe needs to know about these conditions?

Went on a Monday evening to get fish and chips. We waited 25 minutes then asked our server for a status report. The server told us there was only one staff member in the kitchen. We waited another 10 minutes then told our server to cancel our order. We understand the predicament of being short staffed but waiting that long for 2 orders of fish and chips is a little much. For the future if you know you're understaffed and that food will take a while let your patrons know before they order.

After months and months of operation there’s still massive gaps in the service here. Too many hostesses and managers and not enough servers. Routinely seated and then left alone for 10, 15, 20 minutes as was the case again tonight. Food is really good, that’s the reason we keep giving them another chance, but it is beyond me as to why the servers don’t seem to know who is responsible for what table or even if you’ve been acknowledged yet. Empty drinks in front of customers = poor service. People moving to the bar just to get served = poor service. I don’t blame the staff, management has had more than enough tine to create and develop a culture of service. They have failed. Too bad. PS. Bartenders are great. Kitchen is great.

Ford was so so, they put the 5 of us in a cramped booth with little table space. It would have been fine if we were just having drinks but with all 5 of us having meals it was way too small of a space. The service was good when they were there. Not enough table servers. I might give it one more try to see if it's the same as my first experience.

I cannot say enough about this venue we planned my sisters 50th birthday here and they offered us an amazing spot outside in the heated patio area which we were really looking forward to using but due to inclement weather and a severe snowstorm which happened on 15 January they had to move us into a warmer spot inside the restaurant they were so accommodating and so amazing. I highly recommend this venue for work functions and special parties ...the general manager was incredible and created a specialized menu for our friends to order from. And the bartender and server were fantastic... Getting our drinks and our meals out in record time. All the meal options were fantastic and tasty ... we had six different meals offered to us under a selected menu which incorporated all the different needs for all the various dietary types of people that we had at the party. Big shout to their chef!

We are on hols, having a relaxing day. Did some shopping at CK and Hilfiger. Went for lunch at Match a place my wife found. Was very tasty. I tried the Canadian Caesar drink, had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. There was kids menu, wife had steak sandwich and mojito. Nice cocktails there. Def go try it.

It was my first time at this location as I typically go to the New West location. Service was pretty solid. For an appy we ordered the nachos. The portion size was very good. I like that they use a tortilla underneath the nachos rather than the typical parchment paper like other places. I found the guacamole, sour cream and salsa to be quite a generous amount. The nacho cheese sauce was quite good as well with the right amount of heat. For the main, I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich which was recommended by a friend. I liked the fried chicken in it which was double breaded and premarinated with hot sauce and buttermilk. It was crunchy and very unique. Hot, but not overwhelming. I typically don't like sweet pickles, but this was a very clever addition to the sandwich as it offsets and heat. If you haven't tried this sandwich yet, I do recommend that you give it a try!

The stars are only n only for the fish tacos. Extremely yummy, perfectly fried fish. Service is not so good. They overcharged me and didn’t even return the money instead gave a coupon for the deal that’s already there in restaurant. Ambiance is fine. Recently had the thai salad with cod fish. Not even close to thai flavours. Fish was dry and irregular chunks of vegetables. Sauce was watery. I think better to stick by fish tacos than try anything new.

I stopped in to grab a bite to eat and I watch a bit of the hockey game. The entire experience was delightful - the staff (and patrons actually) were friendly and competent. As mentioned in other reviews, the staff had a diligent approach to managing covid protocols and making me feel comfortable - cleaning, masks and separations were some of the best I’ve seen without sacrificing a good pub experience. The Canucks game was interesting enough but my attention soon focused to the brier game between Quebec and NONT, where I couldn’t get my eyes off the Quebec second, who looks like a cross between Frankie MacDonald and Justin Bieber. Big triple in the third end to snuff any potential threats, I had the Car Hop sliders appetizer and hot wings. The sliders were the bomb, and hit the spot, I’d go without wings next time they were so good. I realize Match is a chain but they do have some local beers on tap, leading me to state that in the Courtenay area it’s a recommended stop to put into your rotation for a bite to eat and to watch a little curling

UPDATE: August 5, 2019. A few weeks back we went with friends to have a nice dinner, because our previous experience was good. When we got there the lower part of the restaurant was not open and the upstairs was booked with two parties. We left and went and had a wonderful dinner elsewhere. Last night my wife and I returned and the experience wasn't any better, the downstairs portion was closed so everyone was funneled upstairs. The food was good, the service from the server was good, albeit she was run off her feet. Getting drinks from the bar and food from the kitchen took forever. It appears that they do not have enough staff to handle what I consider to have been a mediocre sized crowd. We won't be going back until I read or hear that the service has improved drastically.

Went with a group of 15 people for lunch. There were a couple other big groups but other than that the place was empty. We waited 1.5 hours for our food and when it did come only half of our table had food. The rest of the food came half an hour later and people had already finished their meal. Very unorganized. Drinks over 15 min to arrive; no water brought or offered; wine was off, but they replaced that glass, and had no idea it was discount wine night till different server told us; salad arrived w/o the chicken, so that was annoying waiting to eat till the protein showed up...no offer of dessert, coffee or another drink, rather just showed up with bill. Asked about bday offers, they comp'd a dessert, so that was nice. So overall....decent food, menu, staff, but the service needs to step up a BIG notch. Meh.

Attended the facility for a retirement function. We were located on the second floor. It was closed to the general public. Bathrooms were individual and clean. The service was excellent and I had the opportunity to express this to the food and beverage manager and bar manager. Servers were constantly on the move distributing appetizers and taking beverage orders. The food was good and plentiful. Lots of seating. For guests who wanted to get in a friendly game of table soccer (fooseball), or bocce ball while chatting, both were available. Alternatively, there was some great quiet spots with fireplaces and comfortable seating on the patio deck. They also had numerous tv's which is great for other times when having a drink and catching a sport. Bathrooms were private and clean. Prices were reasonable. Optimistically, one could take their winnings from the adjacent casino and really splurge.

Always told theres a 20 minute wait for a seat when half the place is empty. When I challenged the hostess I was called aggressive. No, I was frustrated & the staff need lessons in Quality Customer service. Also My elderly parents have been going there for brunch pretty much every Sunday for over the past 6 years & when brunch menu removed Dads favourite waffles we asked if we cud get just waffles? NOPE, they wouldn't offer any sort of accommodations we must order the chicken and waffles that's on the menu, cant get just the waffle. Sad in today's world if technology no one has a button on the register for that. Not even a managers special option! Seriously, customers deserve & shud expect better !!!!

I have been here three or four times now and it is always excellent food. Service is always really good the atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is clean. Their patio section is awesome and if I had to recommend anything on the menu it would be the chicken and waffle sandwich. It is incredibly good. The prices are very reasonable as well, the same food from Cactus Club would cost twice as much money. Definitely check this place out you will not regret it.

To start the service my girl friend and I received was horrible to say the least, she obviously had other tables that were of more importance as it took over 20 mins just to get our order placed. When our order arrived my poutine was warm not hot and the tacos were cold soooo not worth the price!! My girl friends meal was good but she wanted to get a refill of her drink but our server didn't wait long enough when she brought our food for her to ask and we had to try and flag down another server. The only great part was after I got up to find our server and order the dessert (wow they can make dessert as it was sooo tasty) was the best part of the whole experience. Sad note their seemed to be no manager around as we wanted to speak with someone but instead paid our not so worth it bill and left unhappy saying how neither of us would be back. As we left we saw the table of guys that clearly had our servers attention grrr. Got our servers name in the end by talking with someone else who works there who wasn't surprised of our experience.

Finally getting around to this review... We had a large group of 22 during U.S. Thanksgiving for a going-away lunch for a co-worker. Even with only one server (Abby), the service was outstanding. Abby never missed a beat and remained very friendly and cheerful throughout all the chaos. The food was very good as well, and enjoyed the football games playing in the background on the multiple screens. Will definitely make this our go-to place for events such as these.

This is a "sports bar" with good food, daily specials and even a FREE half-sized pool table. The Match Eatery resides within the Starlight Casino which offers discount coupons on food to regular casino guests. The Match Eatery & Public House has many TV monitors with various games continually playing and on some nights even has special events such as Mixed Martial Arts or CCTV games. It also has a number of separate party rooms for private rental.

Food arrives consistently hot and fresh. Flavours are well-balanced. Great atmosphere, has the pub vibe but not usually overly loud. Many large televisions that broadcast sports games. Has a pool table free to play. Has a lot of high top seating, cushioned seating, as well as stool seats/ bar seats. Although it's attached to the casino, kids underaged can still go inside to eat until 10pm. Has large parking lots outside and underneath that is shared with the other restaurants and casino. Happy hour food menu do not have that many choices. Washrooms are spacious and kept clean. Has wheel chair ramps for the entrances and washrooms.

We went here for dinner tonight for our anniversary. Our server was Wynona and she was amazing. Great service and the food was really good. We had the mushroom pesto pasta, nachos and ribs. The sticky toffee pudding is tondue for but make sure you share as it's huge! They even wrote happy anniversary on it. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend this place.

This place is ok. The chicken wings were nice but the choice of sauce isn't very original. The portion are rather small though and so it felt overpriced. The service was the weirdest. We had to deal with at least half a dozen different staff members. As soon as we got our wings a lady came and ask how was everything? Which is standard right? but how about you let me try the food first then ask me how it is?!?!. Then, we got asked to pay our bill even if we were finished but the waitress was going home or something and then we had to order the dessert with another person and pay another bill. This is really inconvenient for the guests, it feels disorganised and results in a bad service in my opinion.

I guess this was the holiday special, steak with spicy shrimp for $29. I will leave it up to you to decide whether this 6-oz steak plate looked anything $29... I asked for medium rare and it came medium well and no one cared to come ask within 5 minutes of being served how the food was so I could send it back. If the place was busy, sure I would be more understandable but it wasn't. Anyways, stick to their appetizers or sandwiches, something that is easier for the kitchen to handle.

Last time I was in Campbell River for the night (Summer 2017) I stopped in to the Casino/Coasters Bar&Grille. Was very inviting great staff and prices were on point and food was satisfying. I came again to the island for business and stopped by, now it is a Match (similar to whats on the mainland) $6.80 for a bottle of beer? Pretty crazy considering the rest of town was significantly less. I ordered one of their pizzas, honestly it was very disappointing. Should be advertised as child size actually. All and all, seems to have lost the smaller town feel think they missed the mark here. Outdoor patio was nice though.

We came here on a "Super Smash Bro's Ultimate" game night. They had a 100 square foot screen projector in one of the private rooms! The picture quality was amazing. During this time, we were also able to order from the Happy Hour menu. The $5 Carhop burger is a steal of a deal! Also, great value for the $4.50 highballs or shots. Will definitely come again, our server Nicole was very attentive and great job to Match for doing something so extraordinary! Looking forward for another video game event.

Not the best customer service not too sure which way they check their e-mails. I had emailed them to inquire about one of their private rooms for an event and had said for what day and for how many people. When they messaged me back telling me it was available and I had messaged back right away saying I wanted to book it, they never confirmed back with me and magically it became booked all of a sudden not too sure how that worked out. Maybe you guys need to stay on top of your emails and see who actually messaged you first rather than keeping the person waiting and giving it to someone else. The service staff are very knowledgeable with the menu and the layout of the restaurants. The place looks small from the outside but has over 4 large private rooms to host events. Large in the sense that it can hold over 50 people, from what I recall the server telling me, there was one room that held over 100 people. The food was great and atmosphere was relaxed for a Sunday night. A great place to wind down for the week. They also have a giant projection screen for events and or sports.. They also play UFC fights on the nights that it's aired. Don't be shy and check the place out.

Eventually they found us a table and all was good from there. The meals were excellent and the service was good. No complaints. I’ll start off with saying this place used to be really great. Something has changed and now I would rate it mediocre at best. The service needs an improvement. Items were forgotten, cutlery forgotten, water never came, orders mixed up. The servers seemed to be miserable. Everyone was scattered and frowning. The bartenders are incredibley slow. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks alone and it wasn’t that busy. Food is alright, nothing special but not horrible either. Patio is really beautiful and it is nice to have a spot to grab dinner in the casino.

Unfortunately I brought my entire family for my birthday dinner here. I honestly felt obligated to ask the server if we offended them somehow. I had greeted them with a smile and was enjoying my day. This server was unfriendly, cold, and created a very high-tension and extremely unpleasant dining experience. Due to such poor customer service, we will not be recommending this place for a while. However, the food was quick and prices were fair. I recommend the nachos, generous portions. I came the weekend before with a 10+ group for another birthday dinner and it was much more pleasant. Luck of the draw I guess. Looking forward to changing my review in the future!

first time visiting this restaurant we were seated right away in a nice comfy booth our waiter Daniel c was awesome always made sure we had what we wanted and very friendly we both had the blackjack chicken burger one with fries and one with onion rings food came fast and at a perfect temperature the onion rings were cooked perfectly as were the fries the burgers were excellent one of the best chicken burgers I have ever had 5 stars is hard to get but I cant think of one thing that wasnt great we will definitely be back

Matches is a chain of casinos and restaurants with locations in Campbell River and Courtenay. It was a fun night, after 9pm drinks are half price. We ordered 2 bottles of wine and some beers and the bill was only $65. We didn't eat there but its typical Canadian fare. There was a live band and dancing. A very fun night and cheap too! One last thing, it's not a traditional casino, mostly slots which doesn't float our boat.

We went there yesterday, Friday March 26, 2021. We haven't gone out much lately with the pandemic, but thought we'd try it. Food was good, though service was spotty. Our table was on the patio and we were right by the kitchen with wait staff zooming by constantly. The table beside us was 6 feet away with a potted plant between us. Four people were seated there after we arrived. The two people with their back against the table against the window was maybe 5 or six inches from 9ne of the people seated against the window. I could tell they were uncomfortable - the man with his back to the table beside us got up and moved to beside his date. They seemed uncomfortable and seemed to be trying to finish quickly and leave. Won't be going back.

Match Eatery & Publish House is a modern gastropub located outside of Starlight Casino in New Westminster. The interior is fairly dark and industrial-looking but they do have some skylights which lets in some natural light. I was actually surprised at how large this place is and it’s filled with large, flat screen tvs. I’m sure that it must get busy here during weekends or sporting events but it was fairly quite when I came here for lunch during the weekday. When I came by on a Tuesday, they were running a special on their tacos ($6 instead of the usual $10) so I couldn’t pass that up. The Crispy Fish Tacos were pretty good. Although the wrapper was a bit dry, the battered fish was crispy and topped with a mango salsa, crunchy slaw, and a slightly spicy chili cream sauce. I came back for a revisit to try their Pulled Bacon Mac and Cheese ($14.75). Given how dim it is in some parts of the establishment, I decided to sit at the bar so I could get some sunlight coming in from the skylight. This dish is pretty much as it’s described… which is partly unfortunate. I would have preferred crispy bacon to go along with the cheesy macaroni noodles. Instead, there was a fairly generous amount of pulled pork which is chewier and leaner (and somewhat dry). The macaroni was okay and had a bit of bread crumb topping to it. But although it was cheesy, it lacked any significant cheese pull. Overall, fairly average eats but not bad considering the lack of dining establishments in the area.

Every time I have come here with friends, we always had a great time. Servers were attentive, drinks came out quick, foods is delicious. The chef is very accommodating which makes it super helpful since I'm a vegan. My favorite part of Match is their private rooms. This Halloween I hosted a party there in the Budweiser Room. We had our own private bartender and he was so much fun! There was even a pool table! Foods came out on time. Everything went so smoothly I didn't have to worry about anything else. Also on Tuesday they have Trivia Night! We had went there three times in row because the hosts kept it entertaining. Best Trivia Night theme was Games of Throne and Harry Potter!

I went to this place to watch the UFC, first I booked a table via Open Table and someone from this restaurant calls the following day and tells me we can't honor your reservation because of the UFC, kinda stupid considering it was confirmed through Open Table, but whatever, so because of this had to come to this place for 4:30 pm to hold a seat for 7:00 pm, and the seating was not good, basically gave a table like you would find in a food court with high chairs, then the host says there is a $18 minimum per person, seriously you should consider who you say this to, as that is peanuts and if your watching an event for 3 plus hours I'm sure your gonna spend that no problem, not sure what kind of clientele you are used to frequenting your business, food was very mediocre, waitress had a bad attitude, and didn't bring requested drinks half the time, had to ask again for them, pretty sad considering your job is to wait on people as a server, then when it came time for the bill asked for my bill first, which was fine, but then my other party asked for their bill shortly after and the waitress was rolling her eyes like she had been inconvenienced, good luck holding down that job, they have alot of tv's for watching sports but other than that I wouldn't recommend especially if you are wanting to go out for dinner, service is not good.

When you have double pepperoni pizza on your menu, the least you can do is put more than 10 thin slices of pepperoni on it!! When we questioned it, we were told that you will have to charge us for an extra topping if we want more pepperoni ....WTF??? Went there for my birthday for the first time ever, the food was great, the hostess was super friendly, and we were seated immediately, however the waitress was reallllly bad, she didn't properly take anyone's order, didn't bring a note pad to write anything down, ignored most of the people at our table, forgot to bring a lot of things that were ordered to the table, eventually it got to the point where my friends and I had to go to the bar to order drinks because our waitress avoided coming to the table, also refused to go ask the bartender if they made certain drinks and instead made us tell her exactly what was in the drink, also told me the bartender couldn't make a certain drink but then when my friend ordered the same drink they made it. Just super unprofessional, rude and disorganized. The food is great though and the atmosphere is great, just some of the staff could be better.

Went there to watch the UFC. We got a table right away and steps were taken to ensure everyone who came early to get a table got a clear view of the monitors and there wasn't a standing crowd for the main event. Food was delicious, service top notch and kudos to the man in the kitchen who served the entire restaurant got a complimentary deep bowl of piping hot fresh pasta. We drove up from Qualicum and Comox for the second time to watch the UFC because the service was much the same the first time we went.

Management sure needs to take a look at their service scheduling, and coordinate with what is happening at the hotel/conference centre. Just attended a conference yesterday and of course people want their lunch within an hour so they can get back to their next conference session. Nope, didn't happen. We had reserved a table ahead of time to make sure we were served promptly - nope. Finally got our drink order taken and ordered our meal at the same time so it would come quickly. Over an hour later the food finally came. The waitress didn't even pop by our table to top up our waters in all that time. Yes, we were late going back to the conference, missed most of the next session. Several other tables of people were also very late finishing. Yes it was busy - but manager should note what is happening in the hotel and prepare with enough staff! Bad management!

So this place has got a great lively vibe. There is a pool table there as well(free to play but currently closed due to covid) The food is good and the service as well. The beer is definitely cheaper than the casino next door, and they have the standard happy hour as well with good food specials. You used to be able to order a beer and then take it to the casino with you(thus avoiding the casinos higher price) but now that walk thru is gated off (I'm assuming covid related as well) Nonetheless a good experience for a night out with friends or family.

Seems to be well known food quality isn't this locations strong suit. I still come from time to time as they have a nice setup and plenty of seating. I ordered the poutine and asked what type of gravy they use. The server thought it was pork and would check. I went ahead and ordered on that assumption. I can't eat beef and sometimes thats what some places use. Andddd of course ends up being beef. She said she asked the kitchen but neglected to tell me prior. So basically I'm eating an expensive plate of fries at this point. It honestly at that point ruined my night. She gave me 25% off but I don't feel it was satisfactory.

Becouseni live in East Richmond this is my go to place for dinner. And the menu is large enough and I don't get bored of the food. High quality pub food that will please you each and every time you go. Over 20 TV"s and a few screens larger then 10 feet by 10 feet. If you have a sporting event to watch it will be on at Match. This is my favorite place around. I know it will also be yours!

Food was good when we finally got it. It only took 45 minutes of waiting, a friend also waited over 30 minutes for a single beer. Food seemed over priced for what it was and they couldn't even bother to list all ingredients included on the meal, resulting in me sending my food back. I ordered the same thing I got the other night then I get a call from the manager saying they can’t make it for me and then the call drops or she hangs up on me. I think nothing of it and get the opposite of what I ordered I would of rather had it been canceled. It’s not a big deal but now I have to pay for a meal I didn’t want. Not to mention I didn’t get my fries with the pizza. Which didn’t have the topping on it. I call back and the manger I spoke to was completely condescending. Assuming I “forgot” our conversation earlier and accusing me of hanging up on her. I just didn’t have a good experience and won’t be ordering from here again.

Went here late night Saturday for a birthday treat. Waited about 1 hour for a table which was a little disheartening so went into the Casino to pass time. The dining area was super busy and loud. The food was absolutely delicious only issue was that I wanted my steak a bit more well done. Our server was nice and food was served roughly 25minutes after we ordered.
