Best fries in the tri city area! My husband and I got take out from here for the first time tonight and we were blown away by how delicious everything was. Gator’s Tail offers a wide variety of craft beers that pair well with their wings or my favourite chicken fingers. Jacq is our favourite server who’s always quick to notify us of new craft beers or daily special such as wings on Tuesday or ribs on Thursday. Always exceptional service.

We were driving through Cambridge last Friday... and saw this place so we pulled in. And we're glad we did. This place is obviously popular, as almost all tables were occupied, but we got a small table in the bar area. The servers were great, both our beverages and food came quickly, and with a smile. Staff here is courteous and friendly, and the place is actually very clean and tidy. We got the gator as our shared app ... and since we had gator before, we knew what to expect. The meat was tender and juicy, and the dipping sauce was perfectly paired. The wings and "dbl" bacon burger were also amazing ... so good in fact, that we promised ourselves that we'd return next time we're in Cambridge. Do yourself a favour, and go check this pub out. You'll like it too.

I go here for lunch basically every two weeks with coworkers. Great food, I love the way they spice their breaded chicken. The cobb salad is amazing. Service is always friendly, but they can be a little slow.

Average pub food... I got Philly Po'Boy sandwich, which was okay. The best part was the generous portion of melted provolone cheese! I asked for New England Clam Chowder to have it as an appetizer, but the waitress came back and told me that they didn't have it that night. They seem to host karaoke nights and yuk yuk shows... I might return for one of those events, not for the food.

Great little diamond in the rough! Myself and some coworkers were looking for a place to spend a Friday after work and since our first choice didn't have any tables available, we went here. I was happily surprised by this place. We went on a karaoke night, which was a great surprise! We were singing along with the songs and had a great time. I ordered the fish and chips and was again, pleasantly surprised by the size of the order. The piece of fish was big and tasted fantastic! The coleslaw was homemade in appearance and tasted just as good! And the price was really good too! I will definitely be going here again.

Really good food, wonderful staff, and speed of service is not bad. I have two suggestions for improvement. Firstly, the staff could check in with customers a bit more. The last time I was there I had to (several times) wait for quite awhile to get the attention of staff members. The long wait could be minimized/avoided in the future if the serving staff could check in with the tables they serve a bit more frequently. Secondly, there is a lot of room for improvement for Karaoke Night. Mainly, that singing for people who are having a celebration at Gator's Tail and the general public should be at separate times. I only suggest this because the wait times for singing are ridiculous! Priority is always given to the people a part of a celebration (which is fine) but it's not fair to other guests/general public. The one nignt I was there I was one of the first people to put my name in for karaoke but was put at the bottom of the set list becuase the celebration people got first priority. Unfortunately, despite the fact that I was one of the first people to submit my song, I came early, and waited over an hour, I did not get to sing. Therefore, I think both groups (general public and people apart of an event or celebration) would have a better time if karaoke was at separate times for each group (ie. Friday's 6:00pm-9:00pm for people apart of a celebration only, and 9:00pm - Close karaoke for the general public).

We use to order frequently- however that will stop after today. I called 3 times trying to place an order, each time being asked to hold - which wouldn't be an issue... if I was actually put on hold. Instead I could hear the phone put down/covered slightly as the woman who answered the phone continued to to rant to her females coworkers. They were talking amongst themselves freely, complaining about "regulars" and how f#$%ing annoying they were along the group of 4 who was in today that was such a pain in her @$$ - thank you for the 6 minute hold so we could all hear on our side how much you value your guests. Words of advice, your customers you are complaining about are what help your ungrateful staff live on tips.

What a great local joint that is 'under the thumb' of the big breweries in the area. This bar has the largest collection of craft beer on tap at decent prices anywhere around. The owners work so hard and appreciate their loyal, local customers. Be sure to follow their social media sites for examples of their awesome specials and photos of their food. Their yearly beer even (postponed this year) is an event not to be missed, let alone their karaoke and special Yuk Yuk nights. Great bartenders during the day. They get to know their locals but also treat brand new customers right. Love having you guys in the neighborhood!

I worry that they will WILLINGLY OVERSERVE a custumer and who will then, not thinking, drive drunk after visiting here. I have visited 99% of the restaurants in Cambridge and Gator's is hands down one of the best we have. The Fish n' Chips rivals, if not exceeds, any popular Newfie joint in town. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (with blue cheese) is a staple in my diet! If you like craft beer, they often have a good 5-10 on tap or in cans, while still offering no crafts like Stella and Rolling Rock. You won't find cordon bleu here, but you also won't find fries from a food service box. If you're reading this review because you're trying to find a place in Cambridge to grab a meal, just go.

Been here there or four times, before and during Covid. A great family owned restaurant, The pride of ownership is obvious and stands out in the yummy menu. Check out the local craft beers hand picked by the owners (love the sours) and the wife always gets the beet chicken salad. With the Fast Friendly Service this is definitely a Cambridge gem. P.s. Went to this location on a Tuesday evening there were 3 other tables that were occupied so not busy at all. After our drinks came out we waited for over 10 min before our server decided to come back. Management informed me that she got caught up doing operational tasks. I guess the operational tasks tip better but that's besides the point. Ok. Went on a quiet weekday afternoon, and the service was still kinda slow. Bartender waiting tables at both ends of the restaurant, so had to wait for a while to get his attention. Had the burger special - ok - but honestly thought they'd forgotten the grilled mushrooms. Found them hiding in a tiny little pile under the bun. Meh. Settled in to do some work - so clearly not in any rush. Ordered a bowl of chowder and the burger - and both arrived together so the burger chilled while I finished the decent bowl of chowder.

We had takeout battered haddock, sweet potato fries, and fries. They were amazing! The batter was crisp this time and not wet. I was stunned at the portion sizes when I opened the box they put our meals in; my hubby let out a gasp as well! The fork in my picture is a full-sized fork, not a dessert sized one. So huge! I ate my piece of fish over 3 meals! I love their sweet potato fries too - delicious! Gator's sauce -yum! Their pecan pie was good compared to a grocery store one, but not compared to homemade. Old Review: Excellent Haddock and a huge piece! On Fridays, the full size meal is on sale for $12.99; $10.99 for the lunch portion size. The batter is slightly wet, which is the only downside. The batter is not thick and there isn't cornmeal in it, which is very good in my opinion. It is the best battered fish in Cambridge that I have had for the price. Sweet potato fries are not greasy; excellent! Gator dressing for those fries are one of the best that I have had, and I dislike eating most dips for sweet potato fries. Broccoli slaw was tasteless and ridiculously tiny. Server Erin M was very friendly. Gator's Tail has karaoke on Friday nights 9-1. They have a mic, and anyone can come up and put themselves on a list to sing from a huge binder filled with songs - even Disney ones. It has many screens for people to watch the game. It is a bit of a noisy place even for lunch because of the music volume. In the evenings, you are raising your voice to speak to someone across the table. *See my pics for more info.

Drink specials aren't very appealing and the service is average. Some spots are much better than others to sit due to poor lighting. Take this place for what it is and go enjoy watching a hockey game there.

Cool place inside, lots of selection for beer and cider. The service was mediocre and wings were bad. She forgot to bring us various items including plates, napkins, and wet wipes, and didn't check on us after the food was dropped off to rectify that, so we had to flag down another server. Good thing we were in a booth, barside with lots of other servers around. The wings: I mean, they were not hot (at all) when they got to our table and were small but when you're hungry and wait a LONG time for food to come out then you'll eat them. We did mention the temperature and quantity to the server but she shrugged it off and continued to ignore us. Can't remember her name but I remember it being unique, she looked like the actress that played Nikita. Anyway we still tipped her because we aren't about stiffing servers. Pretty disappointed as we drove in from Waterloo and the other 2 at our table came from Guelph due to rave reviews! Anywhere can have an off night, but I'm not sure I'd give them another chance.

My fiance and I go to Gator's every Wednesday evening during baseball season. His baseball team, the Knights, play in a league across the street at Cambridge Sports Park and Gator's is their sponsor; not that this influences my opinion on their business, this just allowed us in the door. Their service is amazing, our favourite waitress being Marcie who is there every Wednesday to make us laugh. They have awesome daily specials as well as after 8 specials which we often order. My favourite dish is the fish and chips. The only drawback is ITS HUGE and I can never finish it all! All of their food is made from scratch which makes it even more delicious! Their variety of food is unbelievable! It ranges from fish and GATOR to steaks and pulled pork. They even have vegetarian options and a ton of fry varieties. My favourite drink is the Gator's Tail! It's a mixed drink that is actually GREEN and it tastes delicious! Can't have too many of these or I'm in trouble! We love Gator's so much, that my Fiance and I have decided to book the dining room for our wedding reception as we are having a casual dinner with friends and family and know all our guests will love it! If you haven't tried them out yet, you must do it ASAP to see what you're missing out on!

First time trying Gators tail tonight and it was good. We had a blooming onion and garlic bread for appetizers. The bloomin onion was not as good as I've had though. I would Give more stars if they would get rid of that scummy sleezebag they’ve got running karaoke. CREEP, touch me ONE more time and see what’s good. ???? ???????? and in front of your poor wife!!? You don’t even make tips! *shudder* I literally plan karaoke night anywhere but here now. It’s too bad too because they do have a really good selection and his wife is so sweet and funny.
