Large pub, used to like very much till a new bar tender came along! I ordered a pina collada and she said what size glass do you usually have? I said if we are lucky we get a large one! She poured the cocktail into a small glass and Threw the rest, that was in the blender down the sink have not and will not go back!!!

Went there for quick meetup with friends. They have a good menu with options covering vegans and meat lovers alike. Good Ambiance lots of sitting space. Lunch time was not busy at all so good for meetings. They are a good central location for us because we commute from Mississauga Oakville and Hamilton. They have enough parking space and very close to 407. As for taste I definitely like their taste I had fresh grilled fish fish sandwich which tasted great see the pics.

This place was one of our favorites since it was opened. We used to love to go there for dinner and the music. I don't know if the management of this place changed or what is going on. But the food is terrible now. Our last 3 visit we couldn't even finish the food. we decided not to go back again.

The Black Swan is amazing. Before the Covid-19 virus hit, my friends and I would frequent this pub every Saturday night for Karaoke. Mark O runs great karaoke and all of the regulars are great to see! The food is amazing! Normally you don't expect to have really amazing food at a pub, or at least I don't, but their food is phenomenal! Don't even get me started on the staff! The owner is incredible and will go out of his way to ensure the happiness of his customers. Debbie is one of my usual waitresses and she always goes above and beyond for my friends and I. She is an incredible woman and so kind! Alexis is another one of my regular waitresses. She is younger but she is fantastic! She is always so friendly and brings great energy! Genevieve is our other usual waitress. She is incredibly kind and is always quick to get us what we need! Even when it is crazy busy! If you haven't been here before, please try and support them during this hard time. Why not order some of their AMAZING wings?! You will NOT be disappointed!

Quaint Local bar/restaurant with views of the escarpment. Love the location, in a very quiet part of Burlington, Sun always gleaming through and a decently sized patio. The love of music is key with performers at different points throughout the week, but the best part is the good food, always fresh, and friendly wait staff. Definite recommend!

Placed take-out orders for fish and chips over the phone, was ready in about 15 minutes. Everything was included with the order including vinegar and ketchup, and lots of napkins. I was very impressed with the look of the order when i opened up the take out box. A large piece of Haddock presented with a bit of parsley on top, the box included a really good tartar sauce, coleslaw, a lemon wedge and fries just the way i like them (not to thick, but not shoestring). Usually takeout fish and chips = soggy fish, not in this case...the batter (although a bit thick) stayed crispy. I definitely look forward to sitting down for a pint at what looks to be my new local.

I went to the black swan tonight for the first time and had a blast. I have never been and will totally be going back. Breaded cheese curds were amazing and the nachos were huge! My fish and chips were delicious. I had two friends with me and my friend ordered the chicken pot pie and wasn't that impressed. Drinks were great. Service was quick until around 11pm ( we got there at 7). It was karaoke night and the place was packed once that got started at 930. Overall well done!

I was craving chicken wings as I haven't had any since COVID, and my neighbour recommended Black Swan. This is the first time I ordered food from here. The wings are sooooooo delicious!!! Very large wings. Outside was very crispy while the inside was tender. My neighbour also recommended their fish and chips, I will definitely come back to try it next time!! Terrible service. Never going back. Went on the night of June 29th.We waited at least 30 mins for our order to be taken, for drinks, the bill etc. We had to flag the waitress down when we wanted to order, for refills, etc. I was very close to just walking out without paying, I was sure they would not notice as they seemingly didn't notice us the rest of the night. And then it took another 20 minutes to pay. Ugh.

Been coming here since the week the place opened. Never had a bad meal. Any concerns have always been addressed by Kim the owner. This was the first restaurant we took both of our children when they were babies. We still go in regularly because the pub is VERY family friendly. Our kids (4 and 3 now) always ask to go to 'Kim's Restaurant' whenever we ask them to go out. Some reviews say staff turnover is high...to those folks I ask, at what restaurant isn't staff turnover high? The food is good, the beer is cold and the staff is friendly...what more could you ask for?

I went to the black swan for the .50 cent wing night, and had a rather disappointing meal. The restaurant was not completely full. My boyfriend and I ordered 20 wings, and a plate of sweet potato fries. He ordered a bottle of beer, and was brought a pint. The waitress never once came over to refresh our drinks, and since we waited approximately 40 minutes for our food, my glass was empty by the time it arrived. We watched tables who had sat after us be served before us. One of our baskets of wings was cold. I had asked her to refill my glass when she brought our food, and she didn't. We never got our dipping sauces/vegetables. The restaurant's atmosphere was nice, and the food (although cold..) was good- but the service left a bad taste in my mouth.

I tried really hard to love this place. I ordered once and wasn't pleased with the price, portion size, or accuracy of the order... But thought perhaps it was a one-off. After ordering again this evening, it seems that it's the norm. Overpriced, tiny side salads - requested a Caesar without bacon and was told over the phone they don't put bacon in their Caesar salads. Well, imagine the disappointment upon unpackaging a salad full of bacon bits, for someone who can't eat pork. Neither the salads nor the fried chicken sandwiches were right either time. I would urge you to try one of the (many) other wonderful options in Burlington that will be worth every cent.

Went for lunch this afternoon with my sister. Had the fish n chips, which is my favourite dish here, not to mention it's 1/2 price on Tuesday. The food was delicious as usual. We were impressed with the fact that the tartar sauce is homemade, what a difference that makes. We finished off with the best key lime pie, a personal recipe of their chef. The service was excellent with a few laughs with the bartender. We can't wait to come for ribs and wings!!!

The staff are fantastic at the Swan and anyone who is writing a bad review about the Swan because of vaccination checks well thank you. This only instills a secure feeling to us who frequent the place. The fact that people with your thinking won't be back...great. Personally, anyone who complains about being checked for others safety are a detriment to the rest of society who wants to enjoy life again. Went here last night, Wednesday June 29, 2017. Nice pub, clean environment and friendly staff. Wednesdays are Trivia night. We were told it is at 7:30, but the Trivia started around 8:10. Also on Wednesdays they have $.65 wings. We all tried wings and they were good. Recommend this place for pub lovers.

A wonderful evening with an "acceptable" number of patrons which gave the place a little pub like atmosphere. TVs, people talking etc. I had the club with fries and it was fine, beer was cold and a fair Cov2 price. Yes we would go back just for the service she was great.

We were with our one son, who had the hot Hoserburger, which was fantastic! My husband had the club sandwich with a side salad and I had the chicken parm with fries. Dessert was an apple blossom with soft ice cream. We all had different requests which were all handled with ease, pleasantness and professionalism. We will be back.

Came here on AYCE wings night thursday and the leafs game...open mic night the vibe was nice...service was good until after eating just 20 wings between 2 people we went to order our next batch and were told the kitchen is closed...at 10:15pm on thursday...the leafs were still playing (LA road trip) and the bar was full and they decided to close the kitchen without telling the staff or servers??? while running a AYCE promotion. The bartender was nice but was not nice enough to drop some wings in the fryer but instead offered up beverage which he didn't need to do. We were there for wings and drinks but I appreciate his assistance. 2Star is for the bartender and open mic.

Good pub fare, friendly service, a relaxing patio. Great selection of beers. Good steak. Roomy enough for large groups. March 2018 update: the Thursday half price ribs and wings is gone, and the weekend brunch has been replaced with a Sunday "marche breakfast", served until 1pm. The restaurant is losing its unique character, and is now striving for mediocrity. Time to look for a new place...

Had to post this, just found a great Pub in north Burlington. I've been sitting here all afternoon listening to fantastic music. Had the Fish & Chips, my Husband had the Philly steak sandwich both were incredible, very clean establishment to boot. Live in Headon Forest no clue we had a place so great so close, neighbours recommended The Black Swan glad we finally came.

Stop trying to put this place out of business because some woman didn't have the sense to not take her children somewhere else. The rest of us do not want to hear your screaming child. This is a pub people not a McDonalds. And you should not be allowed to post a review of a place you've never even been to based on the news article.. I for one would commend the owner for kicking out this woman with her screaming child. Who takes a child to a pub?. And when I go to a pub to eat and or drink I don't want to hear your kids screaming. What a lovely find. All the food was made on site fresh. We enjoyed half priced fish and chips. I was impressed that they make their own tartar sauce as well. We also tried their in-house made key lime pie. So flavourful!!! The staff was wonderful! We were served by a lovely fellow named Greg, who was very down to earth and attentive. I will definitely be going back soon.

Last Sunday, my wife and I had lunch at the Black Swan. It was the first time that we went there and we were quite satisfied. The food is typical pub style food. I had Guiness Steak pie which was very rich and tasty. The pastry was light and flaky. The mashed potatoes were rich and creamy. All in all, a very good dish. My wife had an English breakfast. When our orders came to the table her plate was almost overflowing, there was so much food on her plate. She ate what she could and wond up taking the rest home. The service was good. Ther server was pleasant and efficient. We asked her about the live music and she told us about the band that plays, karaokoea dn open mike nights. The Black Swan is a good place to go for a meal or just to listen to music.

Went in for wings on Wednesday, September 13 with my team after our softball game, seeing as Wednesday's are wing night. There was no wings. NO WINGS on wing night. Ok, we try to get past that by drowning our sorrows in cold beer. Sorry. That beer you want, we have none left. Fine, we all order something else. Beer was piss warm. Also The temperature in the dining room was hotter than outdoors. The bartender and server were very apologetic and tried to do everything they could to make up for it. We left and went somewhere else. Again, the staff was great, the place seems nice but bottom line is we won't be back. This is the second time they were out of beer when I have been there.

We went to The Black Swan on Father's Day, clearly one of the best days there is....first time coming here and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was plentiful and tasty. The beer was also plentiful...but my son was the DD. As a treat, Dave gave everyone on the patio a shooter. The server, I can't recall her name, was exceptional. People seemed to know each other which also tells you that the owner gets to know his clientele. We will be back.

The pub has had an ownership change so please do not judge on past negative reviews. My family and I attended their Family event today. The new owner, Helen, was at the door to greet us. Kids enjoyed karaoke, face painting, cotton candy and they had a full buffet- pizza, fries, hot dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets (kid-approved menu for sure). I cannot forget the clown and balloon animals! We had a blast and will definitely return!

I've been to this pub once. It was 2 years ago. I also heard the owner's side on City tv and I felt for him. I have a toddler myself and would be mortified if he was screaming for 5-10 min. I would want to leave asap. So I am making a judgement and I support the business owner's decision to tell her that if it continued, for the sake of the other patrons, he would need to ask her to leave.

I just got kicked out from the Black Swan restaurant here in Alton Village because my baby was crying!! We've been going here for 2 years now, and they just changed ownership. As soon as my baby started crying, I took her out to calm her down (and I do get it, crying babies get annoying) and right after she was okay, I went back in and found the bill and a few take out boxes and the owner asking me to leave. So just as the owner suggested, people with kids, please go to Mc Donalds!!! I felt so disrespected and discriminated... Its really sad that a place that we enjoyed here in our neighbourhood as a family has an owner like this now....

Unfortunately there is not "no star" option because this place does not deserve even one star. My first experience at this pub was not the greatest. We went there because a friend of mine recommended it since she lives in the neighborhood. While the food was Ok I thought the service was poor. We were a group of moms with kids on a summer weekday afternoon. The place was nearly empty, maybe one more table beside us. The waitresses seemed annoyed to having to serve us and one of them made a rude comment about one of the kids standing near the door, not blocking the door or anything, just standing there. Well, now I read a story about a mom who was kicked out of the restaurant because her child was crying, not only that but the owner was a total jerk handling the situation, and even suggesting that families with kids should go to McDonalds. It is appalling to hear something like this. Burlington is a family-oriented city and this behavior should not be tolerated in any place really. We are a family of 4 and will definitely not be going there ever again. McDonalds is on our list for sure, as are other pubs in the city that offer not only great food and great service for everybody including families.

Run away from this hole. As you approach this place in the parking lot you will ask yourself, There's a bar here? As you are entering the bar, you will ask yourself, What is this place? Those are your instincts telling you that a good pub cannot possibly be in this location. And you are right! My wife ordered the vegetable curry. It arrived very cold. They reheated it for 5 mins in the microwave. They forgot my order. Then they gave me the wrong order. When I told them this was the wrong order, they asked me if I was sure. Anyhow, by the time they offered to make my order again, everyone at my table was done eating and I was pretty turned off at that point. I canceled the order and just asked for the bill. He offered to take my meal off the bill and a $25 Gift Certificate. I told him only if I can apply the gift card now because I'm never coming back. Then I went to Fortino's and bought dinner.

Attended their Robbie Burns Night and for the price it was well worth it! To commemorate the 18th Century Scotsman's birthday the Black Swan welcomed a full house piping in and addressing the Haggis (meat, potato & turnip) to the poet's famous verses. The set dinner menu began with a haddock chowder, followed by a selection of haggis, stew or fish entrées. Regular menu items could be selected if desired. A tasting of three different types of scotch whisky followed dinner. Live entertainment was provided by, "The Colonial Boys," who kept the spirit of the crowd high all evening. All this included for the very reasonable price of $25.00 per person. We had been invited to another such gathering at three times the price but opted for the Black Swan's event instead. Friendly staff, band and crowd made for a memorable dinner event and a lot of fun! Family friendly. Convenient parking on site. Drink responsibly.

Though they need to do something about the greasy fries. It is under new ownership. The new owner was very attentive. Went tonight with my wife, and kids. It was easy enough to provide proof of intelligence, I mean, vaccination at the door. Thank you very much for keeping us safe. I bought my family there to celebrate a birthday and the atmosphere was so dead and gloomy. It was very depressing. We decided to go to support the new owners and we promise we would come back after they hosted the Family Fun Day for children. We used the gift certificate that was handed out at the family fun day event. We started of with crab cakes as our appetizer. Ridiculously expensive $16 for 2 crab cakes. My sister order a wrap and specifically told the waiter ( young man) no onions. Wrap order came out with onions and she had to pick it out before every bite in her wrap. I order 1bs of breaded wings and another pound of non- breaded wings. My 1bs of wings weren’t event breaded was still charged for the price of breaded wings. Waiter walked around several times and didn’t refill our beverage and we had to asked him twice. My nephew wanted a refill on his pop and they charged us $3.98 on a children pop refill! Seriously!?! It wasn’t even a full cup. We had left overs that we wanted to take home and asked the waiter for 2 takeout containers please. He comes back with 1 container when I asked loud and clear for 2. (SMH) We got our bill and didn’t say anything because it was probably a slow night but honestly some of the charges were unbelievable. Very disappointed and I find that it was very dishonest on how they charge for things on their menu. We payed our bill and still gave a tip despite the horrible experience because as I said early probably a slow night. Still doesn’t give them any right to charge people like that! Black Swan is always a good time. :) One of the best patio sunsets around. Captain Dave, Debbie and Alexis always take fantastic care of the patrons. The new chef is doing some awesome work in the kitchen there - eat-in or take-out are equally great. They show all sports as well, including EPL matches on DAZN. Keep up the awesome work!

My wife and I ordered from here last evening, excited to try a new pub in the Burlington area. Safe to say we won't be ordering from here again. While I'm sure the service is fine, the food was terrible. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and was met with a very unpleasant sweet sauce on the side. The chicken was dry and quite frankly tasted as if it was just McDonalds nuggets stuffed in a wrap. My wife ordered standard fish and chips and found the fish to be way over cooked and tough. Spin dip was fine but we had gone with the intentions of eating dinner, not just cheese.

The staff was nice. The wings were great but my one recommendation is to offer a dry rub with some seriously hot spice. Our party tried them all (liked the Montreal Steak Spice the best) but nothing much past medium on the hot scale. On the sauce side Suicide means business!

We had an event here on Saturday June 8th, 2019, kind of a get together with the boys for a friend getting married, the event went great, cold beer, unbelievable service, the food that was prepared was fantastic, Dave looked after everything, treated me, the organizer with all the respect in the world. The food left overs were taken home by many, I had it for lunch, just as good as the night it was cooked. I want to encourage people to stop by and try his chief's food. Debbie also had everyone laughing and she did a great job looking after us all! Can't forget Alexis, always positive, polite and kept the beer flowing. Thanks to everyone for a great night, Dave deserves the business, I'll be back! RGH

First experience at The Black Swan yesterday. The ambience is very welcoming, love the layout! Great entertainment venue and Hailee Rose had the place rocking! Our server was pleasant and extremely attentive. The staff are a definite asset to this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre, had far better pub grub everywhere else we have been. That being said, we would definitely give this gem another visit. Perhaps, it was an "off" day for the kitchen? We ordered nachos as an app. The serving was generous but lacked flavour. I ordered the Butter Chicken Yorkie, which was a disappointing serving size,very flat with little chicken. An added side to the dish, such as sauteed veggies would have completed the plate. The fish and chips were just okay. Chicken fingers were just average. For the price, we would have expected at least enjoyable dinners. I would be remiss if I did not thank the establishment for an otherwise fantastic time!
