Frustrating experience here unfortunately. My friend had created a ~20-person guest list for her birthday on a Friday night and was guaranteed entry before 11pm. But when we arrived at 10:50 we were refused admission via guest list because apparently they only allow the first 150 people in on guest list. My friend was of course NOT made aware of this beforehand as she was promised guaranteed entry before 11 without any other conditions. The bouncers were unhelpful, indignant, and showed no care or interest in honouring this agreement. Will not return.

Got the tickets online and didn't have to wait in line which is a plus. The problem i have is that it has a pretentious vibe. Everyone stays in their group and if you want to be include to bad. It's the dushie Vancouver way. Not blaming the club thats why i didn't give them 1 star Their bass is so loud that it knocked my drink off the table and wouldn't replace it... So one star

Red Room has really helped me come out of my shell, I have met a lot of really awesome people here on Saturday nights and many of which I am proud to call my friends. Red Room has great sound, great atmosphere and most of all great welcoming people. If you haven't been to Red Room before you are missing out and when you do go, dont be shy, talk to people you don't know and make some new friends!

We used to like it here. Cancun nights were fun. The music now is really bad, the dj wouldn't stop making homophobic jokes and talking on the microphone instead of playing music. If you are wearing a light sweater they insist on paying for coat check. If you ask for water they react really bad at you, and no I don't want a water bottle I just want a cup of water. This is NOT a safe space for women. Please, look out for your friends if you go, and don't go alone. A friend of mine went to Subculture Saturday and within 10 minutes was grabbed so hard by some guy that she still has the bruises a week later. That night there were a LOT of men being very physically aggressive towards women - grinding on them without consent, relentless bothering, just EXTREMELY predatory vibes. Had to help a very inebriated woman get a taxi home - a man (from inside the venue) was trying to get in with her - when asked, she didn't even know him. Not sure if it was just the Subculture crowd or what, but it was completely traumatizing. I think it would be great if there were staff trained in intervening for patron safety - you need to look out for people. I can't imagine seeing violent & predatory things like this happen in your establishment and just thinking, "Oh, well".

Extremely bad service had to wait 1 hr in the line only to get scolded by a bouncer to take my hoodie off i was not wearing anything underneath. I told this to the bouncer and he got mad at me plus never had to wait this much in any line. I woudnt recommend it to anyone very dissapointed just wanted to have a fun night but i guess bouncers needed my hoodie more i could've removed it but i didnt wanted to be naked in there.

The Red Room is a good venue for shows, I have been going for years. They have PK sound, the drinks aren't crazy expensive, and the bar tender always remembers us. The only issue is that it gets super hot in there, but other than that, it's been a good venue!

Really disappointed in the red room right now. Just bailed on the line. Bought tickets to an event in advance, but stood in line for over an hour and by the time they came to scan our ticket they said it would be at least another 30mins. Main event had already started. It was 12am and the line went up a block around the corner and halfway down the next block. Either they oversold the venue at least 3x or they were deliberately keeping a massive lineup. I have never had any other club or event take so long to scan tickets. People have prepaid, let them in. Will be asking for a refund.

Every so often I come here for Subculture Saturday’s and I’ve always had an awesome time. It sounds amazing in there, and the people are always good vibes. One of my fav spots for shows in Vancouver for sure.

Aside from booking some of the better talent as it comes through Vancouver this bar has the worst service and staff I have ever encountered. They refuse to serve free water, even to designated drivers, and always greet their customers with scowels sharp tongues and slow service. The door staff seems to be trained by the gustapo. They will search everything including cigarette packs, confiscate any marijuana, including that carried by medical users. They continually violate human rights at every turn. It is the worst venue in all of Vancouver. Not worth seeing the acts they book.

After putting our name to the guestlist beforehand and waiting more than an hour (we arrive at 8:35), we have been told by a really rude attitude to leave our line as they wont get any more guestlist customers and we need to wait at the end of another really long line. What made this experience horrible was the attitude that she had. It was highly unprofessional and rude. I have been to red room many times before so i am definitely not pissed off by one experience. Its just the overall attitude that these people seem to have towards their customers is unacceptable.

This place is a must go if you like electronic music and are in Vancouver The in-house PK sound system ensures you'll experience earthshaking bass at every show. in addition to that, Digital Motion Events brings through a diverse selection world renowned + up and coming local bass music acts every week for their Subculture Saturdays. The crowd that frequents these shows is also amazing. People are respectful and friendly, pretty much what you'd find at some of BC's larger electronic music festivals. The drinks are reasonable and the staff are great too.

The woman that was telling us this had the most bizarre posh and rude manner possible. What is even more interesting was that we have been told to wait on the back of the regular line which was incredibly long at that moment. If you dont want to be treated horribly, simply dont go here. In my few successed attempts to enter the place, it was totally not worth it. Do yourself a favour and dont bother with Red Room.

This was my first time coming to party at a bar in Vancouver for my birthday, in which I phoned a week in advance to make reservations. I heard sooo many good things about this place and everyone was pumped that we were going to The Red Room. I was like “cool I made a good choice because I had no idea about this place.” The bouncers were extremely rude and have to power trip on everyone, as we were getting inside the guys were cool. I asked where to go for my reservation and they sent me to “the bald Asian”. So I go and ask him and he was sooo rude to me! “Uhhh ya your reservation is in the back alley between the dumpsters!” You know what I get it you guys probably have a lot of girls come and try and get special treatment but I did make that reservation and I brought a group of 17 people to spend money at this place and I was extremely disrespected. We had to go claim a table and nothing was reserved for us. I will never go back here.

It’s disgusting bouncer throw my brother out on the concrete, My brother was kicked out of the club for no reason, the bouncer throw him on the concrete as if he was garbage, I had heard so many bad things about this place but never had I experienced anything my self. Now I regret not listening to them, reviews mentioned women in bruises thrown out for no reason and that’s exactly what happened to my brother except he is at the hospital now. Last night 10 of my friends and I went for the long waited "Cancun Nights". We submitted our names in the guest list and entered before 9.30 PM just to find out we still had to pay a minimum cover charge of $10 (w/stamp $10 -no stamp was $13) while their website still as of today shows: "Doors at 9PM - Free b4 10pm - $12 cover After" Of course this was a big upset but we thought we could easily solve it by showing the website information on our phones to the people on front. Unfortunately we didn't get anything but "we don't set the prices, ask outside". So we did and the security guys outside continued to say "the website is wrong"... Half of my friends and I are Latinos and residents/citizens in Canada. We've all been to Red Room several times in the past, therefore, the reason that we all decided to get together and visit the place on this special night. We like the place, we love Dj Cachete's music but we'll think twice before visiting the place in group again.

To the venue response. Music was fine. I dont have to list my reasons for not enjoying the venue. If people want to express their distaste for the venue via reviews and ratings and you don't like it...tough. It keeps things honest and it's 2019..you should be saavy to the fact that this is how a part of the market operates. By your responses to many other people who gave you a low rating with actual reason, your replies have been either to brush them off or make excuses that deflect any responsibilty on the venue itself. Coming across as arrogant. If other people enjoy the venue, good for them, glad they enjoyed their experience. If some people don't, it isn't great business practice to essentially scoff at people's experiences. But that seems to be the vibe of the red room anyways.

Great venue in the heart of downtown Vancouver! One of the more popular rooms left in the city to see both Live music and DJ based acts. The sound and lighting is fantastic. The Red Room has a nice ambient, the dance floor is decent, the sound is good and the lights aren't overdone. There's always people there, but it's rarely overcrowded. I've been to a lot of events, and I really like their "Descent Sundays" Industrial/Goth night.

the bouncers here are pretty great but in the many times i have been here i have yet to come across a pleasant server/bartender. also, they refuse to give out glasses of water, so if you are drinking and want water, expect to pay $4.75 for a bottle. not cool. this is one of the few places in vancouver that doesn't give out water. that aside, they have great events and djs, awesome places to sit and chill and a lowered dance floor that tends to stay relatively drink spill free.

This place is the definition of unprofessional. Overserved a friend of mine for her birthday which led to her forgetting her purse with ALL of her personal belongings in it (it was in coat check). Her, myself and several others had to constantly call/email to get any sort of response from the GM who told us he was fed up with the constant calls about the bag and that he didn’t know where it was (when it should have been in coat check?!), and later on said someone had picked it up. Then threatened another establishment where other people worked; how childish and immature. Finally she got her bag back a week later. Ridiculous. I have had several HORRIBLE experiences here and will definitely never be back, nor will i ever recommend it.

Latin nights are fun, but it could use more Latin music. The later the night gets the more they slip into pop hits. They sell small 9oz sleeves of their own private table lager on Latin night for under 4 dollars, which is a plus

Went there for the first time last night and the staff were so rude. The door people were just blatantly disrespectful. One of the bartenders completely ignored me as I stood there in front of him and then finally when I said HELLO CAN I GET SOME WATER he reluctantly passed me some without looking at me. The other bartender ignored the long lineup and proceeded to flirt with some guys and give them drinks even though they weren't even in line. If you're going to work at a club, you should be spreading good and friendly vibes. Everyone wants to feel safe and welcome there.

Having gone to countless raves over the course of my life, getting into the whole “rave community” was a little strange and unappealing. You start off going to these all ages raves where nothing is really all that well established and everything revolves around randomness. I would honestly say I didn’t go to my first “real” rave until I was 19 and had heard about Subculture Saturdays, a weekly bass music party thrown by Digital Motions events that were starting to spring up in Vancouver. Having never been to a festival in my life other than contact and no real frame of reference I was drawn mainly to these events by the carefully selected crop of fresh underground talent. Artists like “Figure” and “Downlink” were usually festival headliners whom I had followed closely over Soundcloud but had no real chance of seeing live in the foreseeable future. This was close to 5 years ago I first stepped into this club and was taken in by a community of ravers whom of which I have grown to love and respect a lot over the years. What I really love about this community Blake has built is its ability to develop over the years reminds me a lot of my own experience growing up and developing myself. What was once a handful of PK speakers has grown to a room full, the laser system used to be simple and self automated and has developed into a complex, manually run system run by VDJs. Sounds techs, professional photographers, handfuls of talented DJs you name it all been brought together by a simple thing; music. So yeah I am pretty confident saying Red room did itself a big favor when it brought Blake and his team on board and I’m sure they are honored to uphold his vision. Simply put, keep on killing it guys; I will be a fan for a long time because the key is consistency, that consistent level of energy and respect displayed by every member of both the Red room’s staff and every member of Digital Motions I’ve had the privilege of getting to know over the years. Absolutely horrible serves mainly from the bouncers. We had gotten there at 9:30 and everyone that I was with got in by 11:30. Took us 2 hours to get in with guest list then the female bouncer was an absolute joke. She was rude and told my friends and I that she wasn't going to let us in because of the time and claimed we had all cut to the front. Once myself and five others got in, I went looking for the manager. The manager was very nice and did everything I asked. Once the manager went to the bouncers telling them to let them in, two specific bouncers ( the female and a man with a long beard ) were annoyed and still did not want to let them in, but once instructed by the manager for the second time, everyone had finally gotten in. Not to mention, my friends and I had no problem paying the $10 dollars since we missed the free cover, and yet those two bouncers thought they could run the show and still not let us in. Drinks are decent and not the best quality. Music was probably the best out of the whole night. Also this was my first time here & most of the people I was with first time as well. Not a great impression I'll say, but again the manager I spoke to was absolutely fantastic.

I used to go everytime 4 years ago and been there one more time 3 weeks ago. Music is not the same anymore. It does not feel like a latin friday anymore when they started playing david guetta non stop and ariana grande on a supposily “CANCUN FRIDAY NIGHT” it used to be full latin So sad it all switched and the atmosphere is not the same. I had proff of texts between me and the phone number provided in the website of redroom saying my reservation was done!. I let it go me and me friends decided to go in anyway. The girl in the entrance was super rude. She is the kind of person that Latinos are ashamed off. Also all other ladies in cover area so rude and not well mannered, who treat their clients like that? Such a bad management in this place! This is a place known for latino music in vancouver and its a shame all this rude staff '' represent'' Latinos!! I went on a Latin night and had probably the worst time I've ever had on a night out. The staff was super unhelpful, rude and had no basic customer service. We arrived before 1030 and was on a guestlist but we got stuck in line waiting which took us over the time limit making us pay full price. For ever place that I've had guestlist there's almost always two separate lines and guestlist gets first priority. I was not impressed and in all honesty I came for my birthday and the red room ruined my birthday. So for anyone who looks at reviews I would not recommend going to red room take yourself somewhere else with cheaper cover and better music.

By far my favorite venue in the 604. Pk sound, great staff, proper environment for a good night. Subculture saturdays are the best. They get the absolute best drum and bass and spoil us with such great production, bookings, sound, and quality staff. Bathroom concierge is a bit meh if anything, and 4.75 a water is a bit much for people like myself who party sober and only drink water; but there is the option for small cups of free water and they put water out for free after 1:30 am. Otherwise everything about this place is fantastic and I will continue to patron this establishment as much as I can and promote them to other locals.

As an international student i dont know what to do with respect to the crime that this guy committed. I have been going to The Red Room for just over a year now. Being someone who usually was not into the bar scene, I have been blown away by the community, music and vibe of The Red Room. I feel comfortable coming here with my friends and even on my own. It's like having a weekly music festival that's in Vancouver :) . If you like bass music, I highly recommend checking out a show on Saturdays. The layout of the venue is great, as the main dance floor is lowered, so you can see the stage and DJ from anywhere in the bar (even at the back).

What ever you do don't pick up any plastic water bottles unless you want to get kicked out. Bouncers treated me like a child and wouldn't let me in because I picked up one of their 50 cent plastic Nestle water bottle and respectfully put it back down when they asked me to. Then accused me of stealing stuff that wasn't mine and told me to leave. When I said how ridiculous the whole situation was they told me to stop having a hissy fit.

They'll steal jackets and charge for water. Edit in response to owner: We checked a bag, and at the end of the night received the bag back with items (including my jacket) missing. I left my number and never heard anything back. At the bar, we had a friend who drank too much and was trying to sober up a bit. The bartender refused to give us a cup of water, instead requiring us to buy a bottle of water. Literally the scummiest thing I've ever seen at a bar.

The bouncers will not let my Indian friends in just because they had Indian IDs as their primary IDs even though other clubs and bars have accepted the Indian IDs as a valid card for identification. It is unfair and seemed to be a form of racial discrimination to not allow them in because the club machines are incapabable of scanning Indian chips. As the second most populated country in the world, it is absolute nonsense to expect them to carry their passports while they have valid Indian IDs. False advertising on website for Latin Fridays. Website claims that cover is free for anyone with a guest list before 9:30 pm. My friends and I arrived at 9:00, all of our names were found on the guest list but when we got inside we were informed that we had to pay half of the cover charge. Girl at the counter said to talk to the doorman and said that we should have received a ticket for free cover. After waiting 20 minutes to talk to the doorman and arguing about the website he told us we would have to pay half of the cover after 9:00. They let half of my group in, charged us our cover and we claimed our table. After they let the other group of my friends in, we found out that they got in with free cover. The door crew let in all of my 20 friends except for 1..... The Indo-Canadian friend of the group. Extremely coincidental? I think not! Very poor organization at this club, and I can say with utmost certainty that I will not be back.

Got on the guest list and lined up for about 45min to 1hr on the guest list line (we got there early, like around 8.45pm, a few minutes before they open, expecting to enter around 10.44pm..we are okay with waiting). Right in front of us, the (only) lady that works managing the guest list line up, cut off the line and stopped giving out stamps to get a cheaper cover, and asked us to go to the back of the regular line (which, of course, it was way longer that when we arrived around 8.45pm). Why would you tell your regular customers, that plan a guest list, to go to the regular line and wait even longer?? Music is still good, but not worth all this hassle. Aug 2016, 5 stars: If you are latino/Spanish, then check out Red Room on Friday nights, as it is Latin night! Lots of reggeaton, bachata, brazilian songs, mexican songs... also some top 40. It always gets pretty crowded. Cover is free before 10pm

The red room is a great venue. I love the way it is displayed so that anywhere you stand is as equally enjoyable. The red room hosts Subculture Saturday’s by Digital Motion Events which brings all types of electronic artists. Some of the best shows I’ve seen have been here including laxx, eptic, caspa, etc. The sound is amazing, the lighting is great, staff is fun, and the people that attend the red room have the most amazing vibes and attitudes. 10/10 venue that I would recommend to anyone. I will be coming here until I can’t move anymore!!

We got there by 10:40 and the bouncers told us we missed guestlist because it’s only until the first 150 people (which was never mentioned before). This guys are dishonest. They slow the line on purpose and keep people waiting for hours - a weird advertising tactic or complete ineptitude of the bouncers. They offered free tickets for anybody who comes in before 11. We came at 10 and they made us wait for 3 hours and we still had to pay at the door. Went to this place last night with 7 of my friends and spent well over 50 dollars each. Asked the Asian bartender who is in his mid 30's for a glass of water and he says -Why dont you buy some drinks ? I said I just bought a few drinks at the other side. then he tells me "Go there and get your water then . thats MY rule !!" so just like that he refused to give me a glass of water !! just today i told the story to my friend and the same thing had happened to him with the same bartender. Definitely not going back again and telling my friends to avoid this place too

I was disrespected and treated poorly by every single employee except for one male bartender at the main bar when you walk in. One blonde female bartender refused to give me 4 waters that I asked for and only gave me 1. She said "I don't get paid for waters", as she pushed the tip jar closer to me when I asked where the other 3 waters were. I waited for her to finish serving other customers before asking for another 3 waters, but instead of coming to serve me, she stood there and cleaned cups while she bad mouthed me to the friendly male bartender. I called her out for talking bad about me, and she continued to disrespect me. Thankfully the other bartender was kind enough to give me the 4 waters I requested, after the poor experience with the other lady. They also need a rope system outside for the lines, as I was told I was not allowed in because I "cut in line" all because I was not standing right against the wall when I waited 45 minutes in guest list line. The door people, were not polite, and very disorganized when it came to guest list names. Luckily my friend knows one of the manager of this place and they resolved the "cutting in line" issue getting our entire 50 person guest list problem back on track. WILL NOT BE BACK EVER, ALMOST ALL STAFF WERE DISRESPCTFUL

I’m writing this to save you from a nightmare called Red Room. Two weeks ago, I had my backpack stolen from the coat check service with all my official documents, wallet, cell phone and keys inside it. Red Room has an abusive system to charge you for coat checking service and rude treatment by the staff. However, it can become even worse. At the end of the night, the front staff (Adriana and Mariana) couldn’t find my backpack. Adriana alleged that she did not remember me leaving the bag with them (So then what about the ticket with the tracking number that they gave me?), didn’t assume their fault at any time, refused to check the cameras, refused to give me immediate assistance, and delegated the matter to the “manager” Jerry (Gerardo Avila) who was not there anymore. Beyond negligent, Adriana was rude and mistreated me and my friend for not being fluent in English. Surprisingly, she also speaks Portuguese but refused to help us at that moment by not speaking in our native language. I left the bar without my documents, money, cell phone, keys and any assistance and was left to figure out what to do without any assistance, support, or acknowledgement of my safety.. Fortunately, my brother-in-law helped me to track the cellphone with the police and we recovered the backpack the following day under strange circumstances. The group that took my backpack by “mistake” contacted us when they discovered that they had been tracked. The story was even more strange when we discovered that the staff (Adriana and Mariana) were in contact with the thieves. When I went to retrieve my backpack, Mariana was there with a guy who said that two girls had taken my bag by mistake. They asked me to check my belongings briefly. Although, everything seemed to be there, when I finally could get home and check everything calmly, I discovered the money was not inside my wallet, a lipstick was not there, and everything was overturned. It didn’t seem like a mistake. After that, we tried to contact the manager Jerry (Gerardo Avila) but he refused to talk with my brother-in-law, who is local. During the week, he agreed to talk with me (though I am not fluent in English) and treated me even worse than the staff. He refused to accept responsibility and imposed it on me, alleging that I didn’t check right. I felt miserable and hurt during the conversation, while he shouted to me not to not speak anymore and ordered that I only hear him. That means there is never any reasonable resolution for the customer. Red Room doesn’t care about customers absolutely, doesn’t have a decent safety procedure, and asks you to leave their establishment or shut up when they can’t deal with the arguments. I regret risking myself and my safety for a Latin party at Red Room. In my case it almost ruined my life because of the official documents inside the backpack and the emotional expenses dealing with those types of people.

Firstly, the ladies at the front desk were super unfriendly and after pay the cover they force you to take out your jackets and pay for the closet service, if you wear two you have to pay double. Saturday's are the place to be if you are into bass music. Nice PK sound system in there which can get pretty loud and bass heavy. The people are your typical Shambhala crowd. Very friendly and just down to dance and go crazy. The staff are unbelievable. Some of the most courteous, friendly and humorous bouncers in the Vancouver night life which is quite the opposite compared to other places.
