Small place. Arrive early. Love it!
Cosy and welcoming jazz bar. Nice way to spend the evening :)
Great atmosphere! Wonderful experience. Food is adequate. Bit of a bait and switch on performers. I wouldn't hesitate returning.
Every time I go to this place, I thoroughly enjoy myself. There's always great music and a great crowd. The seating arrangement as you enter on the left is a little awkward because you can't see the band, but it also makes for nice little corner to sit back and just listen and feel the music.
Hands down, my favourite jazz club. Gary and his team do an awesome job keeping this place an awesome place. Solid food. Solid music. Solid hangout. Bam.
Nice cozy atmosphere, nice people, good music.
Last night was one of those special-everything-came-together-out-of-this-world shows! Pure fluke. Live those. Al McLean with his quartet of Andrian Vedady, Jim Doxas and Paul Shrofel were on fire. 8$ ? What a steal ! This place is a perfect example of why I drive to Montreal on the odd weekend from Ottawa. Small, cozy venue. Food good. Prices affordable. Staff friendly. Even the patrons (who know their jazz) were kind. If you want a spot on good nights, you're best to reserve as they turn people away. You'll have to eat, but don't hesitate. Just go!
Good food, good beer and the live music is incredible. A great atmosphere on open mic nights. Very intimate.
Great music, very passion!
Intimate jazz club with great acoustics that reminds me of Blues Alley in Washington, DC. Showed up an hour early and we we're the only ones there for a while so be sure to keep that in mind.
Great place! Good company, good drinks, good food and amazing music! I recommend this place. Love it!????
Every time I visit Diese Onze I am wonderfully surprised: the music will be exhilarating, the food will be sublime or my conversations with the staff will be interesting. For the 100 birthday of Ella Fitzgerald on Friday it was all three! Sonia Johnson's voice and interpretation was subtle, passionate and flawless. The band was equally talented- especially with Maryanne Trudel's extended improvisations. The crowd was well-versed in jazz, respectful and engaged while the staff - serving a full house - were helpful as well as playful. I love this club and visit as often as possible while in Montreal.
The Jam session was fun! Nice ambiance. Very good salad
Classic jazz bar vibe, decent service, good music.
Love the environment. Live music. I will go back without doubt
Small but great for late night music
Overall good. I did not eat but the food looked good. Drum was a little loud for the space though. Had to leave early because of it.
Top spot for a good priced beer and some smooth live tunes.
Great little club with big music. Especially like the presentation made by Montalvo Flamenko Jazz quartet. I will be going again tonight to see and listen.
Live music during the week. Check the website. Highly recommended price range $$. I ate fried Calamari ???? they were really good.
Great venue. Very cozy and cool vibe in this place. Great music and live jazz performances. The food and wine selection are exceptional. Not to be missed in Montreal!
Good and chic place to hear jazz.
My experience at this location was not pleasant. Waiter didn't deliver menus, he literally threw them on the table. When we were ready to order, my girlfriend and I decided to share one of the dishes. The waiter should have warned us that the dishes would come in minimal portions for just one person, this would have made the biggest difference during dinner and, of course, in the service provided. The only positive point was the band that was playing. Poor service, expensive food, tiny portions. I do not recommend.
Friendly staff. Good atmosphere for live jazz music.
Great place to hang out and listen to good music.
My favorite place for jazz, steak and Chablis!
Really chic place, it has some great bands and drink.
A nice bar with good live acts
A bit pricey but worth every penny. The main fare is jazz and Dièse Onze excels at it.
Great place for live jazz. Had a great server. Very friendly and helpful.
Awasome place for Jazz & eat!
Great bar where you can enjoy a live jazz performance in a speakeasy atmosphere.
Nice atmosphere, good concerts and selection of beers. Waiters a bit rude.
I would give the music 10 stars (Kim Richardson no less), but the restaurant was strictly amateur hour, hence only two. They took our reservation on OpenTable without telling us that half of their already limited menu was unavailable. I am not sure if they poured the drink, or used an eye dropper. I do know that they short-poured the drinks after I voiced my unhappiness about the menu thing. Not smart, although they tried to make it up with a consolation drink. Maybe it was the waiter. Being an out of towner, there is not much chance I would be back anyway. I hope this otherwise decent place gets its act together.
I was expecting a larger lounge type jazz bar. It's another underground bar with live music. It's ok but nothing to write home about!
I've been there twice - nice, cosy place where they play live jazz. Food is good, wide choice of drinks and beverages, fast and courteous service. And there is a huge cherry on top of all that - live people playing good music. First time I've been there it was instrumental trio - no vocals. Second time we got really lucky there was a trio with a singer - the lady really knew how to sing jazz, and it turned out into a jam session. Clearly it was all pre-arranged, since it's hard to find a random spot where half of patrons actually sings jazz. This is not your average karaoke music. So we listened to 5 performers - all very good to excellent. We are musicians ourselves, not jazz though, but still - we can tell an amateur from a pro. Separate kudos to pianist and the guy with contrabass - they had to go with every performer and they did an excellent job. Clearly this kind of place attracts specific public, which in itself, was a big plus. Very lovely evening, many thanks, will come again.
One of my favorite places in Montreal although it feels a bit expensive, also the one thing I don't like is when they pass the bucket to tip the musicians I feel like guilted into paying a tip although sometimes I want to because the music is amazing, I would prefer they leave a bucket next to the piste like many other jazz places I've been to. other than that, the staff is very friendly the almond cake is amazing (small portions in my opinion) and very nice atmosphere to bring a date or just friends hanging out.
Great sound equipment, great jazz musicians in town, quality food (have you tasted their risotto? wow!), affordable beer… One of my favorite spots to hang these days.
Very nice place. Very cozy. Nice music.
The best jazz place in town. Wednesday nights are the best
Staff is friendly. Live shows are awesome.
Small yes but that makes it super comfortable & intimate. No cover charge, simply buy a drink or drinks???? Open- mic sundays...... great atmosphere yes they have a good menu but keep in mind its not a restaurant but a jazz lounge. Therefore some foods are not available as the menu indicates. The substitutes are great too. big yes. It mot a concert hall but its it's not the type of place you chit-chat.....you go there to relax, unwind and enjoy.
I love the place. Great music every night, true place for real jazz amateurs, great food, great staff and great vibe. Loving the bar! Also new original sunday brunch.
Awesome. Paid 8 dollars on a Friday night and experienced some awesome jazz. drinks are good but you go for the music and it delivered.
Very classy, great music and good drinks.
Really nice place great music mondays are great day to go cuban night !!
I went here on a Wednesday night and an amazing funk/ soul band was playing. If you have never seen a show like the i highly recommend it. There was a cover charge, drinks were a bit pricey but reasonable for the vibe. Some people were dancing on the dance floor, others dancing in their seats. Great soul warming experience!
Super service, food, atmosphere and music.
Expensive, garbage drinks and super entitled waiter wanting lots and lots of money in tips. Very few places I've been where you pay premium for garbage. Save yourself 100$.
We went there for the Django/Swing night on Wednesday. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and our hospitable server. Great live music venue in the Plateau!
Great little jazz bar with live bands and amazing food.
Great ambiance lovely people great music delicious food
The Jazz Club was small and cozy. The bands playing were absolutely fantastic! Drinks were okay though.
If you go there because you love good music and good food, you won't be disappointed. We were there on a very cold Wednesday evening and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves despite having to keep our coats on when the door opened. Very charming.
Excellent ambience and jazz performances! Friendly staff, and a homely atmosphere
Wed night jazz is amazing! Definitely coming back.
Nice cozy ambiance, limited formidable menue, we tried burger and Salmon tartar and both were great. Good choice of beers, reasonable price. The only drawback is entry fee of 14$ per person when there was is a performance that tax would also be added to that. If you don’t want to have dinner and just want to enjoy the music and have beers, you should go for the 9-10 performance. (7-9 pm you should order dinner)
Great live music, often at a pay-what-you-can price. Excellent selection of wines and whiskeys with the price tag going with them. The layout is a bit awkward: one can't sit in front of the stage, only beside it or in a separate alcove with a TV with a live feed of the stage. Despite that, we had a blast!
Good food, great selection of drinks. Authentic jazz music in an intimate setting.
May have to move to Montreal now.
Friendly service, reasonable prices, and a great venue for jazz musicians to play in Montreal
Great place to spend your friday night !
If you like live jazz it's good. If you want to talk, don't go there! We were warned that we were talking too loud and the service was terrible!
Real Jazz and very good food in a welcoming atmosphere.
Moody jazz spot with a small but tasty menu. They have a good beer and wine selection. The food was good. It's small and intimate. Good prices for live music.
Good music. Good food. Be ready for music starting late, and of course noisy room
A bar that pretend to be a concert hall. I visited Diese Onze with my wife and friend. The food and music was good and we really enjoyed the place... for the first 15 minutes. There was a person that probably thought that he came to a concert hall where everybody should sit still, silent and listen. He came to our table and two other tables and said that we should be silent because he came here to enjoy the music. After that two other tables left the bar. We left the bar a bit later, after the guy asked staff of the bar to shut up other clients and the staff actually asked them! Come on, guys, you are the bar, not a concert hall! People come to you to enjoy music, food and conversation. This guy has completely destroyed my evening and you, guys, just lost me as a customer. Neither me, nor my friends will ever come to you. You are not the only Jazz bar in Montreal. If your target audience is the guy who came to listen Jazz and left you barely 30$ (two glass of wine) instead of me (210$) then good luck with your business.
good vibe, good price drinks
Best place with live music in Montreal! Salsa night on Mondays it's a must!
Superb atmosphere with great music. The dishes are also fantastic, and the service exceeded my expectations by far. I had a beautiful evening.
Really good spot to listen to good jazz and have a drink. A little on the expensive side, but worth it! Don't forget to tip the musicians.
Nice little spot with good food and great bands. Wish there were more options for wines by the glass, as there was only 1 red available.
Good music. And food. It's in a basement. On a cold day every times the door opens there is a cold Draft . Dress warm
What a great place for jazz. Small, intimate, friendly and a great line up. Casual and reasonable prices as well.
Some young musicians recommend this club. Glad I asked. Nice venue with great musicians on a quiet weekday evening. Fabulous find for me but well known in Montreal.
At least 10 people sang at the night and half of them were mesmerizing while other half was fascinating. And the food is much more delicious than I expected since the reason was music but not dining. Only think the toilets were in need of cleaning also the smell from toilets were able too reach the tables in front of the cash register desk.
I had the best Jazz experience in there, sat right next to the stage and saw those amazing musicians enjoy, experience and LIVE their music. It was amazing! The service was good, the food was a bit pricey, but I can't say it's not worth the price.
Perfect boutique jazz setting... came in from Toronto and LOVED this place. A lovely time in a lovely atmosphere!!
Nice place for live jazz, busy during weekends do a reservation in advance, atmosphere is lovely they usually have good itinerary that you can check it out on the website.
Had a great time at Matt Herskowitz's show until the bill paying time. The bartender forced my far-sighted, Russian girlfirend who could not figure out the Interac paying machine and therefore left no tip on it to pay 20% tip. He literally just stood by her until she paid the tip in cash, demanding for her to leave the "service charges".. What a bad taste! I am not getting anything else in this place ever again but a glass of water.
Perfect if you are 45 years old and more.
Nice cozy place, friendly and not expensive.
Great little venue for music and food.
The Jazz Quartet on Monday at 6 is really good! ????
Just went there for the live music, great place to hear jazz combo. The stage is a little bit small but you can seat 3 feet away from the musicians and feel the experience!
Great Jazz club. Excellent msic, food, and drinks
Great music and amazing beer selection. The sour beers were the best.
Great food, great place. Small place so I suggest to reserve before.
Good show à d very good meal (tapas)
Make sure you go here on a Sunday night for the best jazz performance. Get there a little early so you can get a good seat. Meals are a little expensive but totally worth it. The patrons are really nice and helpful. Fluent in English and French
In my experience, this is tops. ..excellent. Good very good humans run that joint.
Food and service was nice but this is not the jazz place... When I went there, it was mexican music.. I think it's better to check before visiting.. I was disappointed about it..
My favorite jazz spot in Montreal, has the best musicians with great food to boot. Love it.
Great ambiance, great music, great service...just perfect
Really nice and relaxed atmosphere, the food is nice, the drinks are varied, and the bands playing there are talented. You might want to arrive early to get a good place to sit. Also a good idea is to check the calendar since everyday there is a different subgenre in play.
Very nice intimate atmosphere. Incredible band playing that night, didn't get their name. I'm from Toronto so my partner and I drove to Montreal for a vacation. Will definitely visit again!
Such a great spot. Dark lighting with a warm atmosphere. It makes you feel like you're in a french club. Plus the servers are excellent!
Cozy and pretty good place to chill. Overpriced, but what do you expect from a jazz bar eh?
Awesome jazz bar! Perfect place to chill on a Friday night!
Music was great. Service was okay.
I went there for a concert. The ambience was really great. Staff was friendly, the drinks reasonably priced. If youre a jazz fan, I'd recommend this place!
Great vibe. Fantastic live music.
Jazzy jazz jazz jazzbar. Yeah, Daddio!
Undergroung, best food and drink, superb Jazz. Love the feeling of the place with the low ceiling
It is nice but expensive.$15 dollars fee is per person, not table. Overall, we enjoyed our jazz evening.
We came on the night of Christine Jensen Quartet. Great music. The place is small under street level which it makes it cozy and gives it an intimate feel. We furthest from the stage but we still enjoyed the show. The food was excellent. Everyone in our party enjoyed it.
Perfect cozy jazz bar. Wonderful.
Omg, I can’t express how awesome the food tastes at this place. I ordered the Salmon tartar with arugula salad. It is truly to die for!!!!! The jazz musicians are, the ambience is cozy and the food is top quality.
Good food, nice wine and great jazz bands, one of my favourite places!
Fancy place. Good music
Excelente bar de jazz no Plateau
Best Monday night in Montreal! Love this place seven nights per week, especially Latino Mondays!
Amazing food, amazing drinks, amazing waiters, amazing music.
Incredible show, friendly staff and patrons. Loved every second!
Good intimate venue. Perch yourself at the bar and listen to some nice jazz and have a meal as well. Great seafood risotto
I recommend the cubanese jazz evening
Music was outstanding. Great food as well.
Excellent food, exceptional live performance. Attended the Sunday set -- will return.
Classic hole in the wall jazz bar. The band was very good and the tapas were nice as well. Get reservations for the weekend for sure. we were lucky to get a table because we just walked in. I would go back for sure. If they up their food game, 5 stars next time.
Great place. The food, the drinks, the services and the music superbe !
Always good music and food and drinks!
Overall quite unpleasant experience. Cozy and beautifully decorated spot. Went to see some local musicians play on a weeknight, and were led to the back room, from which we could barely see the stage. We ordered drinks, and were promptly told that we needed to order food as we were taking up space from other patrons who would be willing to pay more to sit there. There were multiple empty tables and there was certainly nobody being turned away. There was a cover charge which we were happy to pay and we were planning to order more drinks and tapas as well. We were spoken to very rudely and gruffly. Another man came to our table to tell us that there were empty tables nearer to the stage but that he would not allow us to move to the front room unless we ordered food. We felt extremely uncomfortable. We proceeded to order more drinks and food and we continued to be treated rudely by the staff (and were not moved to the front room). Immediately after the show was over, as we were about to ask for the cheque to leave, the waiter informed us that if we wished to stay longer we would have to pay the cover fee again (we were very clearly leaving and had already spent a quite significant amount of money to sit there and enjoy the music for 1.5 hours). The music was fantastic, as was the food. I understand of course that the restaurant has to make its margins but we felt as though we had been wrung dry. A last addition is that I feel it is bad form to charge the cover fee for the musicians on the table bill, as the tip from the cover should go to the musicians and not the wait staff, especially when their attitude is so demeaning.
The music is the most important part and it's usually pretty good. Way to go to help keeping the local jazz scene alive. The food is pretty good too so it works very well as a normal outing place too. Has a good vibe all the time.
cool jazz bar with live jazz music on sunday evening. Food a little bit pricey but service is good and the staff is very friendly.
Incredible jazz! Also would recommend the linguine pasta with duck confit
great music... too expensive
A nice place to listen to jazz if you feel like doing something different
This bar has an incredible atmosphere. I went when they were doing a jam session so all kinds of people (including customers) would go up and sing and it set a really nice mood. The drinks were excellent and the appetizers as well. I gave 4 stars only because some of the flavors in my entree were not to my taste, but other than that, everything was wonderful!
Great music venue is also nice, although kitchen closes very early
I LOVE this place: - fabulous music - cosy and warm - great food and awsome drinks You can feel the love of music every single time, what an experience! Thank you!
We recently spent the afternoon at Diese Onze Jazz Club with the AMAZING Le DixieBand! Eight hours of driving paid off in huge dividends. This group is one of the most talented bands on the planet. Fun music with brilliantly talented musicians who make the impossible look easy. The club food and service was top notch. The owner has immense respect for musicians and it shows up in the end product. Thanks for the memories!
Great smalll cozy bar restaurant
Great environment. Great music. Very affordable cover charges. Decent food options. Bad service.
I’m not a devout fan of Jazz but when I get a chance to leave Oklahoma I try going to a gig. This club is cozy, comfy & has an unbelievable vibe to it. Staff is nice, prices are acceptable. I love supporting artist & clubs that live for this
Love the live music, especially Wednesday nights! Great staff and service
i love this place. the service could use some sharpening up, but the music is excellent, the ambiance is respectful of the musicians (it's a place folks come to LISTEN to music), and the food is solid and reasonably priced. in Covid time, the tables are still quite (too?) close together with no barriers, so if you're a worrier, this may not be the place for you.
Very intimate space with beautiful jazz and fusion live music.
Small venue with up close view of band. Recommended
Good food, amazing staff. Always a good show any day of the week
The only spot for jazz & jive.
Live music and good drinks
Wonderful spot with quality live jazz, food and drinks. Ensure that you reserve for dine-in and the band! All is worth it. Food is exquisite, not pub level (hence, a bit more pricey). Staff is very respectful towards patrons and the band as well. There is a good vibe in this place. One leaves with a smile on their face.
Amazing place, delicious food, great music, exceptional service
**CRIME ALERT** We were robbed here openly in public and had a man steal all of our money, credit cards, and wallets. This was without question the most horrifying experience of my life. Afterward, while I was calling the police, the manager came out and told me that muggings happen on a monthly basis at this business. He refused to assist in summoning the police due to this being such a common occurrence. I cannot stress enough the degree of lawlessness and open crime that occurs in this club. Enter at your own peril.
Authentic atmosphere, great live music, food and drinks to match
Found this place on Yelp and went on a night with Cuban music. It was fabulous. It was very busy, so don't expect perfect service, but the music and atmosphere were well worth it.
Lovely place, good food, good service, nice life music. will go there again.
What an awesome atmosphere this place has. The quintessential basement jazz lounge. The drinks were solid and the service was good considering they had to squeeze through the tiny walkways and sift through many people. Go on a Wednesday to catch The Brooks. They were phenomenal. Get here early, it will fill up.
The greatest jazz club in Montreal! Very friendly atmosphere, the owner and the staff are so welcoming. There is live jazz every evening, sometimes 2 shows per night. It’s open till late. The food is amazing! Great selection of wines, cocktails and pretty much every type of alcohol. The place is underground and it’s located on one of the most beautiful streets in the French part of Montreal - St-Denis street. Also close to a metro station. Overall - a typical North American jazz club with French bistro flavour. It’s A Must place to visit for any jazz lover!
Great place, amazing food, drink and service. Would definitely go back our next time in Montreal.
