This place is a special gem in downtown Barrie. The food is fantastic (assuming you like cheese) and Jesse, the owners is an absolute delight. Try a private tasting for a really fun experience, I've done a few and I'll keep coming back as long as they're here.

My wife and I had our 1st anniversary here and it was lovely. The ambience is great the staff are incredible, friendly and accommodating. They played music I requested for the night and one of the ladies had even went out and purchased roses for our table. Their wine is good the cheese is delicious. It's a little pricey but it is so worth it. 10 out of 10.

Love the food but small plates and they were out of everything they already have a small menu and 5 meals were not available, we needed to change 2 meals as they discover they don't have ingredients to do them (on top of the 5 not available) and 2 persons ordered the same desert but they only have one in stock.... Very disappointed... We had a reservation for 8 persons and they didn't full their stock... They are open Thursday to Sunday and we were Thursday so no excuse they are supposed to be prepared for the weekend...

I haven't actually been to eat. I booked them for my husband's birthday party. They're doing a scotch and cheese night. The staff were beyond friendly and accommodating with regards to planning, booking, and prepaying for a surprise. I even mentioned an allergy and there was no issues. Can't wait for the party.

What a great little hideaway. Frothy drinks, atmospheric decor, funky furniture. I really enjoyed the "pink lady" gin beverage and the fondue that I shared with my table. Substitutions were permitted when requested. Great service. A little pricey, but it is also fairly swanky, so price tags to tend to rise.

Came for a late lunch on a Sunday. Shared with my mother the Baked St. Agur, The Boss, and London Fog Creme Brulee... compliments to the chef! Definitely worth the drive from Woodbridge, 100% would recommend!!! The food is incredible! We will be back!

Only picked 1 star because i had to. Food was O.K wish there were a few more options as the menu is VERY small. Ambiance was good I've been to similar styles of speakeasy's and this one being located in the basement was a nice touch. My rating however is based on service. I was hoping for our server, Andrea, to tell us about what we were eating but she struggled to tell us any information. My dinner date for the evening is a mixologist and when asking about the Libations she was extremely uneducated. For an older-aged server I was stunned. In a specialty restaurant you need to make sure your staff are knowledgeable because it is part of the experience, or at least if they don't know something to ask for help.

Take a step back in time to the roaring 20's in downtown Barrie. Sneak below the J'adore cheese storefront and ask them for a tour of the Speakcheasy. Best drinks in town and the food will leave your mouth watering for more. Local ingredients, friendly staff and an atmosphere beyond compare.

Great selection of chocolate and cheese. An assortment of cheese boards and other goodies for gifts or your own pleasure. 3/5 stars because I got a variety of chocolate caramels and every single one had bitter, crystallized caramel which was such poor quality. Very disappointed that a chocolate and cheese store would serve such poor quality but this was most likely a overlooked mistake. I hope next time I go here the caramels better.

Awful. A major disappoint. I was looking forward to going for weeks and i was so mad I even had to pay for the terrible experience. The decor is great and gives a real speak easy vibe. But the staff are rude and not helpful. And the food was atrocious. We ordered a platter with cured meats and cheeses and whatnot and the store bought ones are better and 1/3 of the price. The oysters, were the size of a dime. The drinks tasted like they were watered down and the staff didn't care that we were unhappy with everything. Honestly upset, it was the worst dinner I've ever had never mind a birthday dinner. Literally left and went to get burgers. Thank you for replying, it was in August under a different name, I have sent a message I am not sure if you got it.

I LOVE this place! The atmosphere was great! Quiet old time feel to it. The music they play is right out of a black and white film which made me so happy to hear. The food was good, although as the name suggests, it's a scotch and cheese bar so don't expect meals. Charcuterie boards are the thing here which goes well with the theme. The decor was also fantastic. A little over prices but I still very much enjoyed my time there.

What a lovely evening at The SpeakCheasy! Intimate atmosphere themed wonderful by decor, lighting, music and of course, the Cheesy menu. With live acoustic guitars playing in the background we could enjoy the music and our conversation. Overall the night exceeded our expectations and we will return!

Upon our arrival we were told there was no reservation for us (even though we had a confirmation in Open Table), but were accommodated and given a table. We had the fondue, which was very nice, and served with roast potatoes, apple, baguette, and a large pretzel. The roast potatoes were *extremely* salty. Service was good, and the décor is a nice throwback to the 30s. There are only about 4-6 tables, with a large table dominating the centre for larger groups, and a small bar (they do not have beer on tap). We found it very loud, and being seated at a small table in the corner (literally a foot outside the bathroom door), space was very limited on and around our table. While the food and service were decent, it's not somewhere we'd go for a quiet dinner, but might consider it for a larger group.* *contrary to the owner's reply, this was not on a "live music night". Being a very small, compact venue, it was just loud. The server also acknowledged they had been having issues with their reservation system. **the owner has since edited their original reply in which they stated they were "sorry if we found the restaurant too loud during a live music night".
