So disappointed! My first time in the Maritimes and was looking forward to a delicious east coast lobster dinner. Poorly written wine/drink menu, no choice of sides with the lobster and crab (take what you get, like it or not). The salads would not have been my choice. Over all: expensive and poor service .
Good food service!
It is worthy to get the all you can eat chowder and mussels. Our waitress Angie was very friendly and helpful. This is the big seafood meal that you should get in cape breton.
I highly recommend Baddeck Lobster Suppers! We opted for the lobster dinner (of course, however there are many alternative, fresh options offered as well.) Thoroughly enjoyed! Best dinner ever! The endless mussels were amazing! Best tasting! Everything from the chowder to salad to dessert and coffee were perfect and delicious! Our waitress was SO kind, friendly, accommodating and welcoming. We couldn't ask for anything better (other than being to give them a 10 stars rating!) A definite place to go for dinner whenever you're in the Baddeck area! I highly recommend it!! ???? ????⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Friendly staff, lovely little restaurant. A nice, basic lobster supper.
Awesome food and great staff. Get there earrly to beat the crowd.
A great place to go with the Fam, or alone. I had the snow crab dish which was awesome. Wife had the smoked on sight salmon. A must go to.
Very busy but really good food
Really good and good value for all the food!
A definite MUST. Friendly staff and AWESOME food
Lobster, mussels and salmon were average. The former was overly priced at $36. The seafood chowder was ver tasty with the soup rightly seasoned and textured.
Absolutely fantastic place! Highly recommended! All you can eat fresh seafood is a great deal! Delicious!
Came here 3 years ago on a trip across Atlantic Canada and I still think about it! We had the all you can eat mussels and the lobster dinners. Amazing, you won't be disappointed
Amazing meal. Lobster, crab legs and mussels.
My Favorite backhome meal, I drive across the island when ever I'm back for the lobster and bucket of mussels
Amazing food one of my personal favorites and I have high standards. Service is also amazing and they are super nice.????????????????????????????
A great lobster supper at a great price.
The lobster and snow crab are super worth it the chowder was delicious very busy all the time it seems
Would not repeat, expensive and the food was overcooked/steamed. We had the crab, lobster and chowder. Crab and lobster was overcooked, some lower parts of the crab legs were black and broken off so we left them alone. Lobster was better than the crab. Chowder was ok, but had much better closer to Halifax.
Place was packed when we stopped in so I assume it is the place to go to. Food was good but not plentiful. I took the lobster platter and left there hungry. The salad plate that comes with it was served on a small plate and was barely covering the plate. Lobster was only 1 1/4 lbs. I thought $36 was way too pricey for what I received and I am a small eater. A man would never have been satisfied with that order.
Perfect. Just what we were looking for. Hot fresh seafood. Served fast and very courteously. Super cute casual atmosphere, great view. Lovely service. Worth the drive..
Awesome!!! Service is excellent and the food exceeded my expectations????????????????
Amazing place great value
OMG, this was everything we expected - and MORE! A great deal with free reorders on chowder and bread and mussels!
Great place to eat. Agreed with all the previous comments. Thankfully they cracked open the Lobster for you, so it made the eating experience less embarrassing. The mussels were fine, but I was hoping for some sauce to accompany it, like the Belgiums do. It only came with some melted butter. The chowder was OK, a bit watery if I’m honest. One bit of advice and that is to turn up early if you can. It gets busy. On Canada day they close at 20:00.
A must go for anyone who loves seafood! All you cam eat mussels and fish chowder with your choice of 1 1/4 lb lobster, crab or for planked salmon for $55. The price is higher than it was in the past, but the price of lobster has gone up. Friendly faces, amazing food, and no mess to clean up at home!
I highly recommend ????the staff are friendly and the food was delicious ????
My hands down favourite meal during my trip out east. The chowder is delicious and stuffed with seafood, the mussels are fresh and flavourful and the lobser is sweet, buttery and so delicious. I appreciated how they give it to you cracked so it's easier to eat. If you're going there definitely splurge for one of the all you can eat dinners. And and I almost forgot the pie, it was really fresh and amazing too.
Great atmosphere..great food..all you can eat was wonderful.
I ate too much...for $45, all you can eat mussels and chowder, with a lobster, salad plate, coffee and dessert! Sat on the screened in porch, which was nice and quiet. Arrived at 5:30, and there was plenty of seating, but that wasn't the case as we were leaving! The lobster was excellent, but the chowder was potato heavy and thin, so I added my mussels to it, pepper, and it was worth a second helping! Service was friendly and quick. We will definitely go again.
We shared the Snow Crab and Lobster with chowder and mussels. Perfect ending of our meal with coconut cream pie and coffee. Delicious!
Best place for fresh seafood !! Great service from Pat !! Be sure to get her she is absolutely a peach ! Thanks for everything Pat !
Great dinner, didn't care for the chowder much. Everything else was spot on
Fairly priced and a great deal if you bring your appetite with the all you can eat mussels and chowder. Delicious coconut cream pie! Pleasant and down to earth serving staff.
The hype is real! Make a reservation and enjoy the BEST meal you'll have on the east coast! The seafood is fresh and delicious but the homemade desserts are even better! Service was excellent, very attentive and accommodating.
One of the best if not the best lobster dinner on the trail. Very well done
CLOSED UNTIL 2022 uodating their billboards or website would have been great. Lots of good other options in the area thankfully.
Great food. Great service. Take the opportunity to try this place, it won't disappoint.
Great lobster and crab but the salmon dish stole the show. Fairly priced in a simple environment.
Fresh seafood at an exceptional value! Go early because this is the place to eat
Overpriced overated. Tasteless lobster. The salmon was overcooked, practically hard. Only saving grace was delicious dipping sauce and small potatoes. I came for seafood but it was a miss. They need to up their game, not just anyhow cooking. Canadians need to do better and stand out. I want to be a prouder Canadian but right now, I have had much better BBQ street seafood in Thailand.
the only reason i give this place 3 stars is because i don't think its great value. the lobster, crab and steak we has was good...it did take 2 attempts to get the steak right and even after the 2nd it was way over done to our medium that we ordered. the all you can eat part is somewhat misleading as it only applies to the mussels and chowder. anyway our meal was fine but i don't think we would go again.
Simple but delicious. Had the mussels and the lobster. Both were absolutely fantastic.
Our family had dinner buffet on Jul 31/2018. Lobster, great. Unlimited mussel & chowder. Mussel not cleaned very well. Taste good but eat with caution to avoid eating soil.
An excellent place to eat. We got there right at 4 pm so there wasn't a wait. We did notice a constant line while we were eating though. Our server, Angie, was an absolute sweetheart and treated us very well. Her service was exceptional and the kids were very comfortable with her. The all you can eat is a good deal, but only includes unlimited mussels and chowder, not the entree of lobster, crab, beef, etc. This place is a must in Baddeck, especially if you go and see the Alexander Graham Bell museum. The desserts are excellent and home made. We tried the blueberry crumble and it was to die for! We'll be back the next time we're on Cape Breton Island!
Great mussels (they're not kidding when they call it a "Big Ol'Bucket") and lobster was excellent. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is nautical, fitting for the menu.
The lobster was great.. but the "big ol bucket" of mussels for like $20 stole the show, myyyyyyy God they were good! Mama loved it
Decide to come here because i see the review mostly is 5 star , but when i try so sorry i have to give 2 star. Salmon over cook and bland, $32 is over price for my taste , Lobster also no taste Smell very strong, chef need to improve how to cook.
Awesome food from A to Z. The snow crab is to die for The mussels divine. The salads 5 stars. The choice of bread really good they even serve corn bread Seriously everything was damn good. The planked salmon is just the best I've ever had. The homemade apple pie made go there just for coffee and dessert the next day. Ridiculously delicious The staff was lovely, helpful, fast. Honestly the best experience possible .
Amazing dinner, fresh lobster, fire planked salmon, endless mussels great service!
The worst restaurant which did not update their hours and they don’t care about their listing on google.
Incredible lobster, bottomless mussels and chowder! Great local wine selection too.
Not to be missed. Perfect ending when finishing Cabot Trail. Come hungry-lots of food.
The atmosphere is casual yet the food has a special something. The service was spectacular which is what brought it up to a 5.
Suppose to be really but sorry for price should be better
It's okay. The lobster is a bit tough this time of year. Not exclusive to here
Great food, endless chowder and mussels, fun atmosphere!
Great service and wonderful food. Decent prices. We shared the bucket of mussels and each had a cup of seafood chowder. It was just enough food for us both to be full. The mussels were fantastic! Best I ever had. The chowder was a perfect side dish. The desserts looked delicious, especially the lemon meringue. Sadly, I couldn't eat them due to diet restrictions, and honestly being too full.
WAITRESS VERY GOOD AND ACCOMMODATING! AT 72 DO NOT EAT LIKE WE USE TO SO ASKED IF WE COULD DO ALL YOU CAN EAT FOR ONE PERSON WITH NO REORDER WHICH WAS $50. INCLUDED ONE LOBSTER TAIL, ONE ORDER CLAMS, CUP OF CLAM CHOWDER, POTATOE SALAD, VEG SALAD AND 1 DESSERT. ALSO ORDER CARAFE OF WIN FOR $17. EVERY THING WAS GOOD ACCEPT THE LOBSTER AND CLAMS WERE OVER COOKED AND CHEWY. OVER COOKING IS EASY WITH ANY SEAFOOD BUT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH EXPERIENCED COOKS!
Great service and fantastic seafood, will be back!
Delicious seafood supper in a family-friendly setting on the water, with great local craft beer on tap. Very friendly and efficient service. The all-you-can-eat formula includes unlimited refills of the seafood chowder & steamed mussels, with one choice of either whole lobster, snow crab (8 legs), haddock or the maple plank smoked salmon as the main protein. The chunky chowder has a more liquid milk broth, but it is super flavourful and delicious. The mussels were fresh, plump and some of the best we have had to date. Adding some of the mussels to the chowder was a definite win. The lobster and snow crab were both very good, as was the planked salmon our group had ordered. The All-you-can-eat option is a very good value for the money if you are hungry. Had no room left for the homemade desserts though. Would definitely return.
While I really enjoyed the food, it was the exceptional service we received that makes this restaurant five stars. Our server insisted on baby sitting our fussy little three-month-old for a few minutes, which allowed me and my wife to finish our meals in peace. I'm by no means saying BLS offers a baby sitting service, but this simple act of conscientiousness left a lasting impression: this restaurant goes above and beyond to make sure their patrons love their dining experience.
Had the all you can eat mussels with lobster. Excellent food. Friendly service. Good prices. Very full but very happy
We stopped here for dinner when we were finished the Cabot Trail. My boyfriend and I each ordered the all you can eat dinner which includes bread/rolls/oat cakes, all you can eat chowder and mussels with your choice of main. We had the lobster and it was perfection. The mussels were great, we had quite a few of those and two cups of the chowder which was pretty good as well. You also get salad with your main, one dessert and a non alcoholic beverage. It was a wonderful dinner and we'd definitely come back in the future. I will add, when we went it was $50 for the meal per person.
I absolutely love this place! I am from Ontario but every single time I come down to visit family on isle madame I do a little extra driving just to get this delicious dinner. The restaurant itself is very casual and simple, it has a few different rooms to dine in but I like the sunroom. I've had every single entree here besides the steak. Who wants steak when in the Maritimes? Not me! Seafood all the way. The planked salmon is delicious, the lobster was great and the crab is the best! I always do the all you can eat option . It is by far the best option. It begins with drinks (1 free non alcoholic beverage with meal) and yummy biscuits while you wait for their seafood chowder to come out (which isn't long!). The chowder is very well made, creamy and amazing. After comes the mussels; So fresh and addictive, I eat them by the bucket! Once you have had your fill of the first courses you get your entree of choice. The entree comes with coleslaw, potato salad and garden salad. All homemade and fantastic. For dessert you can choose one slice of the many pies they have or chocolate cake and a tea or coffee. I love the chocolate cake! So rich! And the coffee was a nice finish to a fantastic feast. The price is awesome as well. I have spent more at Red Lobster in Ontario and have not gotten even half of the quality of food I get here. The service here is also fantastic. I have never had a more pleasant service experience. I love this place so much and will return year after year, every single time I visit . BEST. DINNER. EVER.
Great food. Was very busy but they still got us in.
Great place, hometown local feel, great food. A definite visit for when you come to Baddeck.
We had such a great experience here, the food was delicious. we got all you can eat, and the waitress didn't judge us with how many mussels and chowder we got. then the lobster main course was unreal, such a big sweet lobster and even had a few side salads so it felt well balanced dessert and coffee was awesome too, hardly had room for it. I'd highly recommend stopping!!
Bucket of muscles was huge and fresh for the price. Service was excellent. Amazing rolls and biscuits as well.
The location is great and the restaurant has a fun atmosphere. During the busy season you are best off getting there by 6:00. The food was good, the mussels were particularly good.
Great Place to Eat. If you are in Baddeck in the summer - it is a great place to visit. A little pricey - but the food is worth it!!!!
Loved it
All you can eat seafood chowder and mussels along with a lobster makes for an excellent dinner!
Absolutely the best lobster supper I've ever had! So fresh - it crawled out of the ocean onto my plate. Homemade desserts are wonderful. Hope to be back someday!
Great place to get sea food.
We had supper at Lobster Suppers last night. We found our experience was average. I had the crab and my wife had the lobster dinner. I found the crab was very good, sweet and delicious and a good portion for the price. However, my wife was not as impressed with the lobster. She thought it was a bit over cooked and we both thought the portion was small for the price. We were surprised for a lobster house. The menu stated 1 1/4 lb lobster but we wondered if it was. Certainly we do not know for sure but based this on our observation from the lobster we were buying in PEI.
Worth planning a trip to Baddeck Lobster Suppers no matter were you live... what a great seafood restaurant. Ordered the all you can eat muscles and chowder with crab as my main. The best part, it was 40$!! What a deal! Good luck getting this meal anywhere else in Canada!
Overpriced but fresh seafood (>30$ for crab/lobster), which is only ok if it wasnt so dirty. The muscles were full of dirty water, had the appearance and taste of being cooked in bulk in water that wasn't changed enough - the flavour was weak too. The crab was delicious, and definitely more worth it, but only relative to the lobster. Definitely just a tourist trap for the area.
Enjoyed it so much, we came back 2 days later!
An absolutely fantastic meal, served quickly and in a friendly manner. A more expensive resturaunt, well worth the price. Just a note: The cocconut cream pie is to die for <3
Generous servings. Homemade. Local ingredients. Geat food with the feels of Baddeck.
Food was great. Wait time after we were seated was a little long before someone came by to offer drinks. Great location near the water.
This is by far the best bang-for-your-buck seafood dining experience in Cape Breton. Atmosphere: Cute cottage style vibe with all the precautions of a messy seafood meal in place. The view of the Bras D’Or Lakes is stunning if you sit in their closed in patio area. You are provided with a bib, scissors and a seafood pick to get all the yummy meat out. Menu: There are options for snow crab, lobster, AAA steak and cedar planked salmon for your main. Optional sides include mussels and chowder. The best deal is the all you can eat option where you are provided with endless buckets of mussels, endless chowder, a bread basket with buns, biscuits and oat cakes, your choice of crab, lobster, salmon or steak, endless non-alcoholic beverages and your choice of dessert (usually 5-7 options) with coffee or tea. I highly recommend if you choose to go here, be hungry. The food itself is delicious. The mussels and chowder are fresh, the salmon is done daily and the seafood is flash frozen. My top pick is the snow crab followed by coconut cream pie!
Delicious all you can. Everything is so delicious, fast, hot.
Good home town feeling. Good eastern seashore cuisine
Food and service were both excellent. Would definitely go back.
To be honest I expected something a little better. It felt like a factory for tourbuses without the buses. The lobster was served cold and the butter served was miniscule. The accompanying salad was unappealing. However the service was good and friendly and quick. For the same price we had a much better experience when we had lobster 4 days prior in Lunenburg.
This place was definitely worth the 1 hour wait. They didn't have the all you can eat mussels anymore but still provided us with a bowl of mussels, which was just fine. The seafood chowder was full of fish, shrimp, scallops and potatoes. The lobster was tasty and I had the coconut cream pie to finish. The service was fantastic and though we sat out on the deck and the place was packed, many servers took the time to chat with us. Overall, a great experience and awesome dinner. I'd highly recommend to others!
OMG... the food here is delicious and the menu is great. Service is great and fast. I had the all you can eat with lobster Seafood chowder and mussel's it was to die for. The mussels were huge. Come here if you love Seafood you will love it!!! I will definitely come back again.
Great setting and simply prepared fresh seafood that stands on its own. Friendly and efficient service. Within the niche of lobster supper it's a solid choice.
Not much to be said need to check out for yourself defintely a place to see taste and enjoy
Great food great service
Quality has declined since last time I was there. Lobster was not what what i hoped but the all You can eat mussels helped make up for it.
The lobster was huge, and extremely fresh. The sides including the chowder were pretty mediocre. The mussels were fresh but plain. The amazing lobster did make up for the entire meal though, making it worth the visit.
Unlimited mussels and chowder to begin our meal..also the tea biscuits, buns and oat cakes..so delicious .Then a whole.lobster and drawn butter..wow We finished the meal.with coffee and a piece of homemade chocolate cake!! Absolutely go here if you're in the area !
Good place to eat. Food was very fresh. Staff very friendly
I found it to be different than I expected. But in a good way. I really enjoyed the experience and meal. I would like to try them again. The down side for me is that I'm not a big lobster guy. So I probably lost out a little there.
Fantastic place to eat, can get really busy and they don’t take reservations for two. We joined another couple as tables for four or six are easier to get. It was my wife’s birthday and they all sang happy birthday ( with a lot of the people there joining in)
Awesome place! We had the all you can eat option knowing full well we would only have a portion of each serving: cup of chowder to start, then a dozen mussels, followed by a whole lobster with 3 types of salad (coleslaw, potato, and green salad). We were warned to save the rolls for last so as to have room for the sea food but I could not resist the tea biscuit and the sweet flat breads! To top it all off, coffee and homemade dessert (we went for the blueberry crisp and strawberry rhubarb crisp.. however we were so full we took it to go and will have it for breakfast ????). Do I recommend this place? Hell yah!!!
Amazing Crab dinner!!!
Good food, friendly service and beautiful location.
Super fun! Good all you can eat mussels and a small lobster.
Amazing meal, wonderful staff
Great food, good prices, friendly staff
The food was great, the staff were courteous. Although the wait for the table takes time, I guess with its polularity it does get full easily. They usually tell you how long you are to wait, so you can go out and have a stroll around the place while waiting.
Loved my lobster dinner!
Top 5 dinners I’ve ever had in my life.
Great food gr8 service recommend a reservation
Went here for dinner after Cycling the Cabot trail. The food was amazing, probably some of the best salmon that I have ever had. The prices were pretty reasonable as well. The service was very good and friendly. The biscuits were also very good. My friends had the all you can eat seafood with the lobster and they were very impressed with their food. There is plenty of parking, but if you are staying in town its a very short walk from most resorts. Very good views of the bay as well.
The lobster was very small. Chowder was great. Mussels too.
Great view of the water and warm friendly service. A delightful basket of breads to start (melt in your mouth good biscuits and sweet oat "cookies" too). Mussels were fresh and sweet and the lobster dinner was also amazingly good. Lobster dinner comes with cucumber tomato salad, potato salad, and coleslaw. We made room for strawberry rhubarb crumble and lemon meringue pie. Waddled back to the car to drive back to the hotel. A must do when you're out here!
Great food , excellent service Go for the all you can eat menu highly recommended..
Large portions! Friendly staff!! Lots of parking! Delicious salmon!!
Had a great time with the family! Lobsters were amazing and it was great fun with a group. The servers were friendly and walked us through step by step how to get the most out of some of our first lobster experiences.
Well, here is our experience with this place: 1. Welcoming service is outstanding. 2. Indoor service is good. 3. Lobster is awesome. 4. Chowder is not creamy, but tasty. 5. Steak (well done) is burned on the outside. 6. Salmon on the plank was supposed to be good but failed expectations…dry as a paper…we weren’t charged for it. All in all, great place for lobster!!! Meat and salmon eat elsewhere.
Very good food, and you will never leave not having had enough. Prices have become higher than other comparable establishments (up to 20% more)
We ordered the "all you can eat" meal set. The biscuits and oat cakes were great - the biscuits were warm and soft (possibly just out of the oven). Chowder had lots of stuff in it but wasn't particularly flavourful. We weren't expecting much from the steamed mussels but they were surprisingly good and enticed us to ordered another round. For the mains, the lobster was very fresh; snow crab was cooked well, but not as fresh. Of the three desserts we tried (chocolate cake, blueberry crisp and strawberry rhubarb crisp), the blueberry crisp was the group favourite. If you're planning on visiting, come early and be prepared to wait. They were very busy when we arrived and we waited 45 minutes to be seated.
Delicious crab dinner. Incredible value. The rubarb crisp was divine. Great service. A++
Best lobster we ever had. Enjoy all you can menu
Amazing seafood place that is well worth the wait! Hands down the best snow crab and mussels I’ve ever had. The portions are generous and service was quick! Would definitely go back if I was ever in Cape Breton again.
My 13 year old son and I enjoyed our maritime lobster dinner here. The staff was incredibly friendly, the ambiance very unique to Cape Breton, and the food was delicious. Delicious all you can eat mussels, followed by the best lobster bisque I’ve ever had, and concluded with a nice medium sized lobster. We had a great time.
All you can eat mussels with a lobster supper. Super good and great staff, a place to remember.
Great food, friendly Staff, nice location. Affordavle price for all you can eat, definitely worth checking out.
Food was AMAZING!!!
Oh common - unlimited mussels and fresh seafood chowder, along with a nice lobster for $38 Canadian? I wish this place was right around the corner from me so I could eat there every week. I had to knock one star off due to the lack of air circulating which made for a very stuffy seating area.
Amazing food and service, the portions are really big and the seafood is fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!
Delicious options, whether seafood or steak, with gluten free options which include almost every item in the menu (expect for salmon) so had a great evening along with my coeliac wife. Super friendly staff, particularly Courtney who was really nice and charming. Great place and great food!
Excellent service, friendly staff and the food was very good at an acceptable price. Would recommend the place for Lobster and mussels.
Can't say enough about this place!! If I can live and eat here everyday I would!! The Lobster amazing and the unlimited mussels!! What more can anyone ask for. It's worth the wait! East coast trip 2017
Great food. Good service. Great view. Very busy place.
Very busy and very tasty place. For a Tuesday line ups all night long, with about 1 hour waits. Trust me it's worth it. Mussels and chowder till you need to stop, then lobster, or planked salmon cooked outside over an open fire. Come and enjoy. Won't be disappointed.
Really nice dinner. Chowder, mussels, lobster and carrot cake. All well done, mussels great.
Always a pleasure to visit and have a delicious meal! Enjoyed every bite! Our server Jolene was exceptional! Thank you!
$10 all you can eat mussels and chowder add is an amazing deal. Friendly servers. Solid food. Came here two days in a row.
In a small town, this restaurant retains the sense of community. Nothing fancy but is well run. The food (mostly and renowned for seafood) is well prepared and all tasty. We had the lobster with all you can eat chowder and mussels. At $50CAN a really good price. All were really worth the visit. It's very busy from opening (4:00 pm) to closing. I'd suggest reservations. A great little spot, well worth a visit.
Excellent food and service.
Food was okay, and service was bad...our waitress doesn't seems want to serve our table, they have to ask another person to do her job. Btw, we waited for over an hour and by the time we got our table, they ran out on mussels. Very dissatisfied!
Best chowder I had the whole trip, and all I could eat of it.
Everyone goes here for the $42 special. Muscles weren't really marinated, chowder was watery, and salads weren't special. I added salt and pepper to the chowder, and used it to dip my muscles in it...which made a huge difference! Lobster, biscuits, and apple pie were good. Go for the outdoor seating if it's available. It is screened in so you can enjoy your dinner outside without the bugs.
Delicious food, good service, good location on the way to the NFLD ferry, and NOT at all pricy. Bonus points for surprisingly tasty local beer. So glad we decided to make this stop after a really long drive.
Stellar food and atmosphere ... very friendly staff ... have the planked salmon ... the best !!!
Asian beware! The thin, mid-aged, grumpy-faced waitress is RACIST!!! She did NOT want to serve our table - our family includ. my three-year-old were ditched with no water, no food, no service after 1.5 hour wait! We spent over $100 and felt humiliated!!!
The food was great, in person I like the oysters the most
Awesome seafood for a decent price.
A nice place to have a lobster dinner. A little bit pricey, but that's given with a lobster dinner. Good value on the all you can eat options, so good bang for your buck overall. Nothing too extravagant, but it gets the job done, if that job is having a lobster dinner in Nova Scotia
It may seem a bit pricey until you consider the shortness of their busy season. As for the food, it was excellent. I guess you can't do much to spoil steamed lobster, but the quality really showed with the seafood chowder (best I've had) and mussels (ditto). The service was great, and they cheerfully accommodated our dietary requirements. They were also very helpful with the young children. If I lived closer, I'd be a regular.
Was yummy
What a lobster supper should be. Good food. Friendly servicd
Utterly fantastic mussels - best I've ever had. Amazing seafood chowder. Loved the lobster and crab. Very accommodating staff - offered us slight variations to the menu to accommodate our kids.
Great atmosphere and food what else can you ask for
great place to go. awsome food. we when there right about 4pm so we didnt have to wait. the all u can eat mussel is very good a bucket after a bucket. couldn't eat anything else after the mussel and main. and the salmon is really good too.
I'd give this more stars if I could! Super friendly staff, reasonably priced food (for lobster dinners). Mussels were great, lobster dinner was amazing, salmon was delicious There was even a kids crab dinner which was really good!
Smallish lobster and salad
This is more of a lobster hall and less of a lobster restaurant. No pretentiousness here, no need to dress up, leave your air of snobbery in your car because your going to sit down with a whole hall of people excited to get a lobster, crab, steak or fish made simple so that the food speaks for itself. I'd like to take this opportunity to give a shout out to the staff who treat everyone like a member of the community and not like a tourist passing through. I call this a hall because unlike a restaurant when you are seated at a table there is a compulsion to engage your neighbours in conversation and this is what makes this place special, unabashed chatting with everyone around you, making new friends, laughing with strangers telling and hearing stories. Now for the food review. This is not my first lobster, but then I haven't eaten lots of them (and it is later in the season), but I found my lobster a bit small, but well prepared. My eating partner ordered the salmon and we found it dry and overcooked. I have no opinion on the steak or crab so you'll have to fill in the gaps on those. So in short I'll say your best bet is to order the lobster or crab, you take your chances on the other dishes, but the experience of the hall is what makes eating here such a delight.
Ordered takeout after seeing high reviews. It was indeed impressive. The Lobster was fresh and pre cracked. The fire planked salmon was absolutely delicious. Godly texture and seasoning! The side dishes (potatoes, coleslaw and salad) that came with the main were fantastic as well. The seafood chowder was only ok. It was chunky and bland for my taste. Overall amazing!
Wonderful place near good food friendly
Good food , reasonably priced and great customer service .
Good fun good food. Seriously all you can eat mussels and chowder when you order an entree like Lobster. Nothing fancy. Same price as other places charge you just for the lobster.
My husband and I had a wonderful time and enjoyed a scrumptious meal at your establishment. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Baddeck and surrounding area. We learned the difference between live lobster and caught fresh lobster. Best I've ever had....thank you for your excellent hospitality and hats off to the gentlemen who prepares the plank salmon outside everyday....with a smile and a friendly demeanor....we will defineteyl come back.
I enjoyed everything we ate. We ordered seafood chowder which was AMAZING, lobster, crab legs and the smoked salmon.
Awsome food, super nice staff, lovely environment
Expensive. Long wait. Lobster over cooked.
We loved it. Great service
Mussels, lobster and crab were excellent. Side salads were okay...nothing special. Local wine available was very good. Atmosphere was lacking...very cheap looking chairs, tables, and decor...but the seafood was undoubtedly good.
A must do. Eat all the mussels you can then ask for more. I'm going back but this time for the crab legs you get more meat than the lobster also check out the smoked salmon done in the back over the fire and he will explain everything when you ask him
Excellent seafood, friendly welcome, good beerr, fabulous views. What more do you need?
Very enjoyable. Need a proper kids menu.
Pay the bit extra and get the unlimited meal options. You get mussels, sides, soup and dessert. All good was great. Our server knew what she was doing, was efficient and she didn't care about us sharing meals, etc. Thanks for the great experience!
Overpriced, overcooked, mediocre lobster supper, tasted reheated, side potato salad was minuscule, planked salmon lacked in flavor, seafood chowder just passable, we had much better on this trip. Rolls, biscuits and oatcakes basket excellent. . Service, friendly and efficient. Can't recommend.
All you can eat mussels are amazing
Great food and great service
We waited for a seat and when we got seated they informed us that they were out of mussels. How can you offer all you can eat mussels and not have any mussels? They did not offer any substitute or price adjustments for the missing mussels.
Had the snow crab legs with melted butter. They were excellent.
Excellent food & service Portions are really big Make the best of their specials ????????????
Fun night - lobster and mussels with excellent hospitality
You can expect anything you order here to be excellent. - really taste the freshness - homemade deserts are amazing - if you don't really care for seafood this spot will change your mind - simple menu - best cole slaw I've ever had Lobster is meaty and juicy Mussels are clean Blueberry crumbler is rich Coconut pie is warm and thick Bread and biscuits are succulent, crackers are amazing Seafood chowder is full of seafood
Had crab, I've had better frozen bought store crab than what I tasted on my plate... Don't get hopes up too high
Wonderful dinner. Excellent value. Great service.
This is our fifth time over the last 15 years. Coming to this restaurant became part of our visit to NS This time we were not extremely happy as before All you can eat muscles costs $45 per person with a choice of lobster or other options We chose Snow Crab to find out that it is the legs not the whole crab Crab legs were not very fresh Coffee was very bad Waitress was extremely nice and kind Smell of the whole place was horrible We probably won’t come back
Excellent dinner. Great friendly service.. Not only lobster but steak and crab as well.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this establishment! The Lobster dinner was absolutely fantastic, and my chocolate cake was to die for. Our waitress was so helpful and taught us landlubbers how to eat a lobster correctly, which was necessary for us to have such a great meal. Overall, I was very impressed with the food, atmosphere, and service. Well done!
Absolutely great service and food. Just go you won't be disappointed!
Lobsster tasted delicious.
Very good meal and service. Was wary that it may be 'touristy' but it was not. Good service and a tasty meal. Lobster and crab were both cooked perfectly. Sides were good and freshly baked buns, scones and oat cakes were delicious. Desserts knocked it out of the park. Best chocolate cake I've had in a restaurant and husbands lemon meringue pie was outstanding.
If you are in/near Baddeck you definitely must stop here to dine. #YouWillNotLeaveHungry
All you can eat (mussels and chowder) plus your one main meal. For about $45. Includes dessert and beverage. Good food and service.
This was the best meal. Great service, even though it is always busy, and with good reason! Great quality meal in a down to earth, fun environment. We will be coming back every year!
Pretty average lobster supper - very basic and nothing exceptional, but good if you're looking for a lobster supper experience. Sitting on the porch was lovely. The kitchen pre-cracks your lobster for you - which was nice especially when hungry. The all you can eat mussels/chowder/entree is a good deal - $42. The lobster is pretty small, but definitely enough food. We arrived around 18:00 and sat pretty fast, but the place filled up quickly shortly after and people were waiting.
This is easily the best place to go to get dinner on the east coast of Canada. I say this with confidence since I have spent a sufficient amount of time touring the east coast over the past few years. The "all you can eat" baddeck lobster supper is the best deal for a seafood dinner that there is. You get an entire lobster, biscuits and buns, unlimited steamed mussels and/or chowder, a home-made dessert, one non alcoholic beverage and then also a tea or coffee for about $50. The food is fresh, obtained locally and cooked to order. Not only that, but the staff are extremely friendly people and they give excellent service! Pro tip: the all-you-can-eat Baddeck Lobster Supper is best experienced after you starve yourself during a long day of exploration on the cabot trail!
Had the lobster meal with the all you can eat mussels, and seafood chowder. Food was OUTSTANDING! The house made rhubarb custard pie was soooooo good! Staff was very friendly and attentive. Excellent experience!
If you can only do one thing before you die, eat here. Excellent service, and the best smoked mussels in North America.
Amazing staffs and food are delicious
I'm giving this five stars because it deserves it. What a wonderful experience! I really want to give it one star to scare people away so I can be guaranteed a table next time I visit! But no can do. This is a special place and my wife and I will remember this amazing meal for many years. We live two days drive from this place, but I can guarantee that we will plan a future vacation around visiting again. And the quality of the service and hospitality of everyone matched the excellence and quantity of the food.
The snow crab supper and mussels were superb! Seafood was really fresh and hot. Even the sides (salads, bread, oat cakes) were freshly made and delicious. Go early as they don’t take reservations for small parties. We showed up at 4pm and there was already a queue.
The food was excellent and the service was good, especially given how busy they were. The food and wine were both locally sourced. We had planked salmon which was smokey and delicious. The server couldn't give us a wine recommendation to go with our dinner, unfortunately. Restrooms are clean and well maintained.
Fun atmosphere even tho we were the first customers of the day (they forgot to unlock the front door in the POURING rain). Fast service with simple menu: lobster, crab and all the stuff you can make with lobster and crab!
I came to this establishment with very high hopes. Initially ran into issues because they said I had not made a reservation as they don't take them for 2. I am certain I did. This was not an issue as I did not mind waiting for a table. We got our table and got the all you can eat. The chowder was watery however did have a good quantity of chunks of fish and meat. Flavour was unfortunately less than what we were hoping for. The mussels did not appear very well cleaned and we had to throw a few out due to the sandy residue. The lobster meal in itself was just a basic lobster supper. Not bad but nothing special. The tail meat was lovely and the claws were good too. Not much on the body so overall not much meat. I highly recommend you ask for extra butter as it only comes with a thimbles worth. We got a lobster dinner but nothing overly special. Server also did not check in on us once during the visit, we had to flag them down anytime we wanted anything. Not worth the hype but still a decent meal.
I felt like this place is hyped. The food was not gourmet and pretty expensive. The bread served on the side tasted dry and old. The lobster was ok.
Great meal and good value. Come hungry for the all you can eat. The mussels were good but could be more garlicky!
Fantastic, no nonsense, Nova Scotian seafood in a casual, friendly environment. The crab was perfect, and the salmon just as good. The owner was there and was very welcoming - which seems to be reflected in the other staff and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The apple crisp with ice cream dessert was also fantastic. An absolute must go when in Baddeck!
Wonderful atmosphere! Great food. Fresh seafood and vegetables. Highly recommend
Good inexpensive friendly great atmosphere what else could you ask for
Was here 20 years ago n returned to do Cabot trail again and had to stop here again. Brought our friends to taste the fantastic food. Highly recommend the all your can eat menu!
An awesome experience! We did the all-you-can eat option and it was delicious. The mussles were simple but good (and truly all you can eat) and we had the lobster and crab and both were exceptional. Worth the price and I would definitely go back again!
A true Maritimes experience not to be missed. There are a few menu items, but the main attraction is the $50 lobster supper. For this price, you get unlimited seafood chowder, mussels, and a house-made dessert. The seafood chowder was delicious, and although I usually don't care for mussels I liked these so much I ate a second plate. Lobster was almost an anticlimax, but still quite tasty, if a little tough. Dessert of blueberry crisp with ice cream was the perfect finish. If you find yourself in Baddeck go here for a great meal you won't soon forget
A great local place for all you can east lobster and crab. Excellent service and delicious seafood.
Lobster was excellent service friendly. Lots of people were there but the wait wasn't long. Best place to eat in Baddeck.
Great service and amazing lobster
Absolutely Delicious meal! Came here for dinner with my husband as we were passing through Baddeck and I am so happy that we found this restaurant. I had my first ever Chowder and it was incredible. I also got the heavenly never ending mussels. My grilled steak was also perfect and to finish this incredible meal I ordered a slice of coconut cream pie. The pie was AMAZING! Quite honestly one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I definitely want to return and highly recommend.
