It's a good club. But the DJ doesn't know what he's doing. Needs to learn to EQ their music and know how to make their playlist flow. It's like they grabbed some random dude off the street with no experience. Zero stars on the DJ.

The venue is so different from how the club used to be before. On Halloween night, they were short staffed which reflected on the employees that were there. We had bottle service, and our server did not bother pouring the drinks. She only stopped by once. The VIP table is poorly placed, right on the dance floor… where people are dancing on railings above your chairs. I will not be returning, nor recommend going here. You will have a better time downtown, at literally any other club.

The bouncers weren't letting people back inside at -30. I stepped outside for a second to help someone and they wouldn't let me back in despite me being in a t-shirt. Really disappointed in their customer service.

It wasn't what we had hoped sadly. We went there to enjoy their black and white dress ball but you can't really call it that. Yes people were dressed to the nines and the drinks were flowing but that's all it was. We didn't have much for food choices but what we did have was okay. The lady bartender who served us was a true gem. She did everything she could to go above and beyond to help us have a good experience. We tipped her well due to the fact that the situation was not her fault. It's not the back alley's fault that we have all these restrictions but good music and bright lights can't make up for the fact that there was not dancing or mingling allowed. Those are my two favorite things about going to a club. We couldn't do that.

I had my birthday party at The Back Alley in February. We got the VIP bottle service area. The team and staff really made it a special birthday with sparklers, a big Happy Birthday sign and champagne!

Phenomenal staff, specifically Tammy, Laura and Cody... Amazing sound and light tech Cam and great hospitality from Management Matty and Jamhal! Love the idea a wicked venue going into club night and quiet impressed with how that change over is managed and the up keep carrier through all night! Cleanest night club I've seen :)

My friend won a so called VIP night there and let me tell you it was the worst experience ever.. First off there was nothing VIP about the place.. we got seated on a table with some rickety benches right next to the speaker in a dead corner of the club.. apparently the actual VIP tables was for paying customers only.. This should have been clarified in the contest rules.. She also won a free bottle in the contest and we bought one $180 bottle... you can imagine out surprise as we get slapped with a $300 bill at the end of the night.. the so called free bottle wasn’t so free after all as our waitress had conveniently neglected to tell us we couldn’t choose whatever bottle we wanted for free.. you can safely say me and my friends will not recommend this place to anyone...

Back Alley has been my most favourite club since I was 18. I am so happy it has reopened! Even though it's not exactly the same (updated interior, smoke pit in the back) it has retained the same amazing atmosphere as the original. Friendly staff, diverse club goers and a great mix of music. They also have great specials. I will continue to defend that it is the BEST club in Calgary and recommend that everyone try it out.

Got a free bottle and the server was very clear on what we could choose from and was very nice. I wish there was more rock music like the old back alley. I like listening to pop/top 40 music, but I can listen to that at every other club and was hoping for something a little more unique here. I still enjoyed the night and will probably return.

The backally has to be one of the best clubs Calgary has to offer !! Jessica the manager is a rockstar girl works super Hard and gets things done ! And shoutout to Selena one of the servers I can tell it’s not her first rodeo by how hard she works and has fun while doing it Backally is the place to be

During my University days, the top 4 quartet of clubs were: Tantra, Whiskey, the Road House and the Back Alley. For some reason, my mates frequented the Back Alley often. I heard a Iot of legendary stories about the place. I missed my chance to check out the Back alley as I moved away from Calgary for a few years. Until now. The universe didn't want me to miss out on the Back Alley. I entered the doors of this fabled establishment tonight and I was pleasantly surprised. I found the staff very nice and professional and the woman working the door tonight was a sweetheart (very friendly!). A waitress attended to us quickly. Despite a few sticky spots on the floor and some sour smells here and there, it's pretty clean. There's a decent-sized dancefloor and the lights are kickin'. I was really surprised by the diversity of the folk who were out here tonight. A variety of ages and people from all walks of life. It's refreshing to have a place like this in Calgary which is so accepting of our diversity. I didn't feel intimidated being here at all, whereas I have always felt too old at most of the other places or not hip enough (I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now I'm not with it and what it is, is scary -_-). I really can appreciate the music here. It definitely lives up to the stories I've heard: you can hear Post Malone in one minute and then AC/DC in the next. A good mix of hits of today and yesteryears. Apart from the quality of the sound system (which sounded kind of bleary at times) and the sticky floors, I was quite impressed. If it's anything, the present day Back Alley seems a lot more better and safer than the one I've heard through stories from its past incarnation. I don't know if I will be a frequent guest, but it's definitely replaced Cowboys for me at least. If I ever feel like going to Cowboys (which is probably not likely these days lol), I'll just direct myself to the Back Alley instead. Thumbs up!

What a great event space! Our company held an event here recently for team building and we had a great time! Loved the interior, great lighting and the music after our event was worth sticking around for. Highly recommend revisiting this Calgary iconic nightclub!

Our group had bottle service. It seemed that anytime our group wanted a drink the server wasnt here as she had 4 groups. (I used to work bottle service at another club and it was 1 table maybe 2 two per server never more! I would suggest hiring more servers for bottle service.

Actually the worst bar/club I've ever been to. It reminded me of teen night but with alcohol. If you are trying to listen to hiphop/electronic DO NOT go here. It was top 40 pop (stuff you would hear at a grocery store) Way to many white boys dancing to Justin Bieber. If you want to have a cool night with awesome tunes I do not suggest going here.

After a long hiatus the back alley has returned! With the napckin toss still in full force and the familiar sound of acdc and all the old rock it reminds me.of the good old days. For anyone looking for a quick hit of nostalgia or those who were to young to experience this local legend I highly recommend a night out. It doesn't hurt that they have some of the cheapest drink prices I've seen in the city either.

This place is super awesome!!! The staff are all amazing and are super fun to talk to and hangout with, but their also really good at their jobs. I would 100% recommend this place if your looking to have a super fun night! Cody the security guard is also amazing! He does a great job of making sure things are moving as smoothly as possible. Hands down he made the experience even better then it already was!

i had an Asian girl as my bottle server . She didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. wasn’t doing her job well. giving 4 stars because another bottle server Jc ? really made the experience better she is one of the best servers I’ve had. The music is very good!!!
