We offer you all the reviews of real people like you who buy the products of TIFF Bell Lightbox (Museum) in the territory of York (Canada).
At the moment the firm gets a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an feddbacks average is basically the top, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can say that the rating is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to give their opinion when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to give evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum is included in the category of Movie theater.
I love this movie theater more than any other in Toronto because it brings the art of cinema beyond the common big box office movies. It values the Canadian artists, independent filmmakers, and other fine pieces from all over the world. Oh, and for CAD 14 (adult fare), you get all mentioned above plus comfy chair, quality sound and screen.
Clean, comfortable, sophisticated. Always loved the washrooms and the multi-floors. Fun selection of movies of course and be lucky to catch one of the specials with a talk with the cast.
The TIFF Bell Lightbox has unique projectors that can show various formats such as 35mm. Most movie theaters can only show digital.
Saw the Irishman there. Excellent theater, great sound, good location, right off the streetcar. Very modern
Exhibitions at the TIFF are first rate. Loved the current Warhol exhibition and last year's Kubrick exhibition. Give at least an hour to get through, though easy to spend a couple of hours in the exhibition space. You can also see movies here, including older films and films matched to the exhibition being shown.
Amazing venue, and you can bring your alcohol ( that they sell) into the movie with you ;) A real movie theatre for grown-ups. I love going to movies here.
Went to a movie at TIFF - the whole time one of the staff walks up and down the side pausing at each row and using a scanning device, I got upset and went out to ask the other staff and they told me it was to catch people making an illegal video of the movie. Yes I guess you have to stop illegal video BUT have a man walk and scan me every 10 minutes ALL THRU THE MOVIE IS OFFENSIVE AND RUDE. This is 2015 is there not a more polite way to catch video makers. Maybe this not bother other people but I found this very offensive and note we had paid $52.00 to see this movie
Some of the best cinematic experiences I’ve ever had. You can watch films in 70mm or 35mm depending on the series. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The concessions are lower than going to a normal movie theatre (cineplex).
Great place to watch independent films, festival films, lectures and other events. Very friendly staff and comfortable theatres.
Beautiful, modern building! It has a really nice vibe to it. Visites during TIFF 2021 and was very happy with COVID screening, mask policía, hand sanitizing stations, and social distancing in the theatres. I would definitely love to come back soon for some of their year-round screenings. Comfortable seats, amazing surround sound and huge screens. I'm in love with this place!
went for a screening. Seats are nice and comfy.
Apparently the membership fees aren't enough to keep it going because this is literally the only theatre in the world I've been to where they want to charge you for an empty cup for water. They'll give you a free one but it's cone shaped and won't sit in the drink holder. So, yeah, great place if you want to feel like you're 14 again and at the mall Orange Julius. Not recommended for catching a flick, tho.
Very comfortable movie theatre with comfortable seating, good quality audio-visuals and descent concession stands.
Great place to visit. Especially for film festival.
I’ve watched so many amazing films here!!
Went inside to look at a small X-Men exhibit and didn't realize they played so many different kinds of movies, including anime. Great atmospehere!
This is the cinema for those whose really LOVE movies. The last time I visited is to see the 70 mm phantom thread. A hall filled with audiences, but no noises at all for the whole time. Wonderful experience not only for the place but also you can expect enthusiastic audience.
Good place to stop by when you visit downtown Toronto. There are movie events year round and if you subscribe the membership you have access to the lounge on the 3rd floor.
This venue with its 5 theaters will show you exciting world cinema ! Experience other cultures and narratives from them in a place that programmes intelligent inspirational films. The concessions, bar and restaurant can make the experience at TIFF complete.
A beautiful cinema with a lot of great staff
Had no idea you could watch movies here year-round until about a year ago. Since then, have watched 6 movies. Different and more insightful movies then you'd find at Cineplex.
The Bell Lightbox is the home of the Toronto International Film Festival. TIFF is a world class event that brings the best in film to the city for over 20 years. The festival runs for 10 days, in early September, by featuring the opening of new and interesting films. The Lighthouse houses an archive of old films that it shows along with avant-garde movies during the week. A must see especially if you are into art.
Absolutely one of my favourite parts of this whole city. They play movies that you don't get to see anywhere else if you can't make it to Cannes, and the prices are reasonable. I love being a member. The lounge always has free snacks and coffee and tea. I like to go early to movies so that I can spend half hour beforehand there. I love that they play classics from directors like Kubrick because I get to see movies I didn't get to see on the big screen originally! I love how engaged they are with the community. They always have family friendly exhibits. I love when they have special events because the atmosphere is so welcoming. I also found some rare books that are super expensive on Amazon very decently priced in their store.
Went here for a Halloween event. Had a great time. Venue was done up with some interesting installations.
Proper theatres - black interiors and food restrictions (quiet food) for serious films. It's beautiful and we'll run. Also, there is a restaurant on the main floor and a bar above, and a coat check, and special events, and a gift shop. It's the home of film in Toronto. Take that, Cineplex.
A beautiful light and airy space to see films that don't play just everywhere. Afterwards you can enjoy the beautiful facilities and have a drink, while enjoying the expansive view of King Street below.
BUYER BEWARE 99% of the screenings do not allow food/popcorn despite it being sold in the lobby. Called the theatre well in advance to ask a very specific question about whether or not concessions were allowed in a specific screening (yes you’d think that would be par for the course at a cinema that sells popcorn, but nope. TIFF arbitrarily bans it from nearly every screening at the last minute leaving their supporters totally inconvenienced) So I thought “best be extra careful and check ahead.” The clueless staff member on the phone told me food would be allowed, and after a lot of wasted time and money I get all the way there to find out “Oh yeah sorry it’s not.” Sadly this is about the 3rd time this has happened but I *assure* you it will be the last. NEVER returning.
Great venue! Comfy seats and best of all...good movies.
The TIFF bell light box theatre is one of the best places to watch movies. The service is phenomenal, and food is exceptional. Highly recommend a visit to get a glimpse of the service they offer
The only place to truly enjoy a movie. You are surrounded by those who love the art form, and do you know how you can tell? You can’t hear a sound from anybody, not even a whisper. The concession stand is great and you can even crack a brew at the theatre.
Love this place, great films, ambiance and staff. I go for coffee, lunch, dinner, drinks, the gift shop, the rotating museum and of course the classic films very regularly.
Great theatre, screening independent festival films. Its a great art house theatre. Catch the films quickly as they screen for a just a few days, but many are award winning films like films that won Cannes...etc. Also many screenings of great cinematic works from various decades. Many film events and a great library. Membership is worth it too.
Beautiful theatres; fantastic curation of indie films; wonderful events outside of the festival; and of course, the festival is a must attend!!
A hidden gem in the city. The TIFF Lightbox has a great selection of movies, as well a film reference library that can be accessed five days a week. The staff are very knowledgeable, and the interior is quite impressive as well. 10/10 would watch movies here again.
Beautiful flagship for the TIFF group. New, shiny, bright building in the center of the Entertainment district. It is open to the public, and has a cafe on the main floor level.
Awesome cinema. Great variety of foreign movies. Very nice cinema with smaller theater and very comfortable seats. Love my experience. Ginger root tea was fantastic.
A great organisation with friendly staff. Shows films you might not normally get to see elsewhere, contributing to a more open-minded society. Some great campaigns. As for the actual cinemas, comfortable seats and lots of leg room.
Nice theater but multiple lines to finally get into the theater showing your movie. Most places you buy a ticket, get it scanned and go to your screen. Here always two lines to get in before entering the theater with your screening. Long way to washroom.
Great theatres with otherwise hard to see international films all the time! Usually lots of room. Bit more expensive than other theatres.
Beautiful, modern and comfortble space for viewing special movies, right in the heart of downtown TO.
Nice place for movies. Comfortable seats
Great facilities. Even the smallest theatre has top of the line audio/video and massive, comfortable chairs. Also, no ads and few if any previews before the movie. Don't show up late!
Always love to visit the gift shop while waiting on friends in the lobby. I like the food and drink options available for the theatres/cinemas upstairs. Only ever bought tickets online and never visited the café/restaurant on ground floor ????????♀️
Waited a criminally long time to see a movie here. Finally visited last month to watch Uncut Gems, and was very impressed with how polished and professional the entire theatre looked. It felt like going to a live theatre performance as opposed to a movie! Audiences tend to be better behaved because you have people that aren't going there just to be on their phone. Will definitely be back!
Gorgeous theater, very clean, stylish. They have interesting foods and beverages + the classics. Even the way to the bathroom celebrate cinema.
Great selection of movies for those who appreciate good quality material on the screen. The cinemas have great acoustics and comfortable seats.
It's a great space with a good selection of movies. The only thing it could be better is their schedule. They really should do something to update it. I was there today and they have rollups at the entrance with a schedule for 10 days ago. Even if you ask people who work on info desk, they are either not informed well about movies or they are busy with other stuff.
This venue has reinvigorated the city's film scene. I can't justify spending the cash on Hollywood fluff but to see the classics on the big screen (Wings of Desire!) or international films and indie films, I've seen too many great films here to list. I saw Slavoj Zizek give a talk before screening A Perverts Guide to Ideology here: I can die happy. There are also rotating festivals and art shows, an exceptional book shop last I checked. Picked up a copy of a Fredric Jameson book here which is not in every book shop (unfortunately!). TIFF is one of those truly great and meaningful parts of our city.
We are so lucky to have the TIFF theatre in the city. It never disappoints.
Great great theater. It has friendly staff and a great atmosphere. If this theater is playing a movie you'd like to see I highly recommend you go here.
Beautiful venue! Attended a conference there over the week, super comfortable theatre seats. Great conference venue!
One of the best film festivals to attend, complete with it's own theatre venue - the TIFF lightbox has a number of events year round - highly recommend getting a membership - Richard Trus review
Great facilities and great film quality. Sound was awesome and picture quality was beautiful. Can't wait to come back and see another film.
Great movie theatre — always clean, helpful staff, lots of interesting concessions (including alcohol), big screens and comfortable chairs, great movies.
Always top quality films playing here, and very comfortable seating. You can even buy alcohol and drink it at your seat. Still wish they did more to support the art world, but this place is all about the $$$. Notice all the Bell Canada and RBC signage...? When they first opened, the cinematheque which used to be at the AGO supposedly moved here so I was excited for all the interesting art films they promised to show. They even said they'd be having regular events where musicians come and score silent films. I saw DJ Spooky score Birth of a Nation and it was awesome, but they never kept it up. And now the cinematheque is back operating at the AGO. Still, great place to see a movie!
Excellent arts cinema, great shop too. Nice to be able to have a beer in the theatre too - best for its programming though - excellent movies!
Large cinema offering a great selection of movies - and these are not those Hollywood-types... - they have also a lot of social programs and events for those who are interested in learning more about the background of movies
A staple for me while I lived in Toronto and whenever I come back to visit. They play great films during the film festival and all year round. The building is great and the theaters are spacious.
Support not for profit film presenters. Rad place to cinema, old and new. Food is adjacent and the theatres are cozy and well tempered for presentation. Theatre snacks are a little pricey.
First time visiting this theater, good value for consessions, comfortable chairs, seems like they have lots of programing for film lovers, felt like I was on campus with many film students as it was a young but sophisticated crowed in to watch the movie, will check out what else is going on here again
never keep your phone in your lap here. Once mine slipped through my legs and slid right into the seat hinge and destroyed my phone. Also they decided to start charging for Cinematheque programs and so my 18 years of collecting them has ended.
A lot of Rich history and I presented work at the light box. As a documentary filmmaker there is a home there for every person that loves to watch film. Beautiful.
Quiet cozy theatres with soft classical music. Some might say its classy. I was a little bored but okay. Its likable.
Always a very pleasant, clean and serene theatre experience! I highly recommend a visit.
The TIFF Bell Lightbox is a must go location for Toronto film fans. This venue hosts several different film festivals and special events throughout the year. Beverages such as wine and beer are available to drink within the theatre. Visited with a friend for the annual Inside Out film festival. The Inside Out film festival is an annual LGBT focused event that runs annually from the end of May to the start of July, marking what many locals consider the unofficial start to Pride month. A fun event, hosted at a great venue.
Venue for Toronto international Film Festival, this ultra modern facility is geared to cater to almost all needs of similar social events. Building is user friendly and is well appointed. Wall decors enhance the ambience. Food is great.
Love this place, always an adventure as most movies we see at the Lightbox are ones we typically wouldn't bother seeing anywhere else. Also love that you can have a reasonably priced adult beverage without having to pay for the VIP theatre. Will always be looking forward to seeing the next independent film. Cheers!
My favorite place to see any film, as always. Great seats, interesting architecture, good and varied concessions.
The venue is beautiful and well set up. We were there for the Buffer FESTIVAL and it was amazing! Had such a great time
A really great space. It's comfortable and sophisticated at the same time. The sound in the theatre is crisp and precise, and the picture is crystal clear. And the film selection is, of course, top-notch. I highly recommend a visit!
my favourite movie theatre. Always good customer service, fantastic selection of films and the ticket price is reasonable. Also great events, accessibility and food options available.
Well-curated selection of films at a good venue. The food isn't crazily priced and it's a great way to see small-run films or older ones on a big screen. It's great that they also open their venue for smaller festivals so that future filmmakers and audience members can meet each other.
I go here at least half a dozen times a year to watch documentaries here. An excellent place to dine and watch movies with more of an intimate setting than the big cinemas in town. Location is also ideal and there's adequate parking below the building.
Significantly decreased the amount of visits to cineplex. As a lover of movies, it's great to go to a theatre to watch a movie (old or new) with other movie lovers. The entire audience is respectful and I have NEVER heard a phone go off or seen a phone screen turn on during a movie. Also no "Sally seat kickers" and the like ;)
I love this theatre! Comfy seats, always clean. The programs are always good.
Really nice theatre with configurable seating. Great place to go watch low budget indie productions. Non member prices are comparable to Cineplex.
Watched The Czech film, The Sleepers. Actually it's a mini series! Suspenseful! Great Canadian Actor David Nykl!
The TIFF bell laugh I is a great space with so many things at your fingertips. From restaurants to a giftshop, plus theatres above its a great use of space. Please note however there is no stadium seating in some of the theatres. I still had a great time catching a flick.
This is a great venue for movie lovers. However, it's not exactly clear how they administer their free tickets. We had a free voucher for watching a film and decided to see the 70mm 2001 Space Odyssey. Unfortunately we were denied as it was a 'premium screening'. This was not written anywhere and it is unclear how they enforce rules of this nature. Not the fault of the Tiff lightbox, but the food options aren't great nearby. Mainly overpriced restaurants. I recommend walking over to Spadina and Queen if you're hungry.
Such a wonderful experience. Great seating, large screens, beautiful spaces. This place plays film fest and indie cinema. Favourite theatre in Toronto.
I love TIFF and Toronto is lucky to have this dedicated place for films year round. Saw a film for Hot Docs recently. Beautiful clean theatre and very well laid out. The theatre seats are super comfy.
It's a great place to check out movies you can't find playing anywhere else. The theatres have nice comfortable seats, great screens and great sound. It's also nice to be in the heart of downtown and watching a movie.
An excellent venue for enjoying less mainstream or independent films. The seats are very comfortable but I do wish the screens were larger at times. Otherwise, a very beautifully designed interior as well.
This theatre has a lot of class. The staff is efficient and helpful. All the theatres are very nice inside. TIFF Bell Lightbox also often has movie premieres which are very cool too. I think tonight there was one because I am almost 100% positive I saw the great Canadian director, Atom Egoyan there tonight but we went to different films. Finally TIFF Bell Lightbox is in a great location with plenty of places to get food or a drink. I recommend this movie theatre!
Eclectic selection of films. Neat and clean appearance inside. A high-quality movie theatre of sorts. Highly recommended.
Love this venue. It’s so large and airy. I’ve been before and enjoyed the show and food and drink. Will come again.
Great place for actors and anyone who wants to watch local performers. watching New and upcoming actors inspires me to Persue my goals and ambitions.
I don't enjoy writing this review, but I just received a letter and robocall from the director of "loyalty and engagement" asking for more money, so here it goes. My partner purchased a TIFF membership for my birthday when the COVID situation was murky. I experienced one movie. In the end, I was unable to use my membership for the year. The TIFF team made no effort to reach out or extend memberships affected by the shutdown. We contacted their loyalty department after the city began to reopen. They gave us the 'we are a not-for-profit' speech even though other local organizations, such as the AGO, made an effort to extend memberships after the lockdown. So, my partner gifted me a MUBI membership, and I have been able to see high-quality films without being inundated by loyalty letters from an organization that only cares about the celebrity green room and not the actual Toronto locals who buy the damn tickets.
Always interesting movies outside the other theatres routines. Affluent audience and nice comfortable ambience. Great locations surrounded by many coffee shops and restaurants. Better go for membership with TIFF to make it count.
The best theatre to go to. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Amazing facilties.
We had an amazing time. Tiff 2019 was our first one and hopefully many more to come.
My young kids really enjoyed the TIFF digiPlaySpace - we practically had to drag them away after 2 hours. The guides there are really knowledgable and engaging. Call ahead to make sure the place isn't booked for a school group.
This the way movies are supposed to be shown. Some current films that are harder to find elsewhere, plus wonderful programming of classics and retrospectives. Check out the upcoming listings.
Have been to both private and public screenings here on multiple occasions and I always enjoy the difference in atmosphere from most movie theatres. I also very much appreciate that they showcase independent and foreign films.
I come here for Sunday Secret Movie screenings. Absolutely adore this event series and can't wait to do it again post-covid.
This one of those places you bring someone to watch something off the main stream path. Take someone whose opinions you value and discuss what you've seen, it's intimate enough to feel personal.
I enjoyed my time at this theater very much. I found the seats somewhat uncomfortable. That would be a huge improvement... better seats.
Awsome Experience! So Proud to work for TIFF 2021!
This was my first time to TIFF. I went to see the king. The seats were comfortable and you can bring beverages in with you to watch the movie. Nice size screen and a good sound system. then i become a volunteer in tiff, it was an amazing experience, stuff are good, everyone there are so nice and helpful. All said it's great place to catch movie
Outside of the annual TIFF festival, this unique theatre is a unique place to really enjoy classic films that have been remastered or re-struck from their original negatives (ex. 2001: A Space Odyssey) in all their big screen glory. Seats are comfy and far more spacious than your regular cinemas. Prices are fair and they have a student discount ($17 without, $14 with).
I love this theater. They play great films and the theatre is very comfortable. I didn't give a perfect score because the concession stand is pretty weak.
Fantastic atmosphere and top of the notch staff. Always eager to help, supportive and great with kids. I’ve gone to TIFF a bunch of times, and the selection of movies is outstanding, specially foreign/not-very-well-known movies. There are some small theatres and everyone is always super friendly. Totally recommend, 5 stars.
Great theater. They need to have reserved seating to decrease the amount of mayhem and scrambling at the beginning of each movie
The picture palace museum itself in terms of the interactive options (there are only 4) was a little bit of a let down and for adults only wasnt worth the $18. But the reason I give it 4 stars is for the staff. They were so nice and answered all of our questions. My sister and I are interested in studying media production and computer graphics/video editing. We had a wonderful and long conversation and learned a lot just from talking about media programs and more. Thanks everyone for the wonderful experience.
They have a library which is open to the public during certain months of the year. Nice to see they help promote films to the public in this way. The space is accessible too for elderly or disabled persons.
Well staffed - helpful & friendly. Always a great selection of films as well as show times. One of the best places for film in the city.
A great spot to see a movie. Washrooms have a strange location but it's a fun area along King Street beside all the live theatres not far from the University Subway
I just saw the Werner Herzog film 'Meeting Gorbachev' - a great film. The staff are helpful - the seats are comfortable. Great sound system and good size screen....all round positive viewer experience. Excellent access by TTC - the streetcar stops across from the TIFF building which is really convenient if you don't feel like driving downtown. Just by chance an epic photo exhibit by Carrie Mae Weems was displayed outdoors just across the street as part of the Contact Photography Festival. That just enriched the experience,
Best movie theater I have ever been to. Very quite mature audiences and good selection of films it's pretty cool you can see movies way earlier before everyone else, also too shout out to the guy who greets everyone I seen him there a few times he was super energetic , I came a bit early and he encouraged me and others that the movie was worth the wait and really made the experience feel worth it so to speak very pleasant guy who likes movies.
Went there with a grade 9 class to do " movie in a day". Excellent value $17.00 each for a full day of interactive learning including a working lunch and we received the edited cut in a week.
Only reason for not a 5 star is because I think the tickets tend to be a bit expensive. But it's ideal for a first date because of how many less people go, and they tend to have more artsy films and special events. they also allow beer in the theatre which is pretty sweet.
Very well organized cinema and location for the Toronto Film festival. Pro tip: meet the stars as they exit through the back and out to the left side of the building
The TIFF website told me there were tickets but it was sold out when we got there. Lesson learnt, buy your tickets in advance people. ...there was a comfy picnic table though
Great home for the Film Festival. Great to see any film there. Wonderful Theatres, state of the art equipment. Helpful attendants.
Beautiful building, vibrant area, spacious/comfortable theatre seating--a great cinema experience all around! Close to lots of bars, pubs, clubs and shops so if you miss out on your movie and have to catch a later showing, there's no shortage of things to do to fill in the time.
I took my son for the Digi kids programming and it was very disappointing and expensive. That being said every time I've gone to see a film it's been a lovely experience.
Amazing movie-watching experience!!!
They really do an amazing job. Props to the organization that runs and keeps the institution thriving. The films are very well curated. The staff is courteous and very quick. The lounge on the 3rd floor is a great hideout if you’re stuck in this part of the city and need a few hours to kill. The leather chairs are comfy, the view is great and there is an air of sophistication that only comes with a lounge a few floors up in a celebrated art institution.
The film screened -- 'The Image Book by Jean-Luc Goddard -- was great! As was the space of the theatre and the staff! The only problem I had was that the sound was very loud. I'm totally up for intensity, but this was uncomfortable. P.S. They sell Haagen Dazs ice cream bars.
Best place in Canada, and maybe even all of North America, to see a film. Beautiful quality from picture to sound to seating. Great, respectful crowds. And A+ popcorn to boot
Worked here and they give you lots of food samples, like free large bag of popcorn ;) :)
Came here for a private event. Really beautiful location with very friendly staff. Can't wait to come back to take in a film!
I love this movie theatre, it does not have the mainstream movies but selected ones , quality is always guaranteed , if you have more artistic taste for movie this the place to go to
Wonderful theater with a great bar. Seats not great for a extra long movie however.
Went for the Ferrero Roche event. Lovely staff, the new chocolates are incredible good. They are selling the box with 42 units for 20$ of new luxury collection. Worth the visit.
I was in town for the #scms2018 conference and the TIFF sponsored events were amazing. I got a chance to tour the archives, which is free and open to the public, do a little research in the library with the help of special collections and even saw My Winnipeg with live narration by director Guy Maddin. TIFF was the dessert to a filling conference week.
Fantastic movie selection. Less expensive than a normal cinema. Comfy theater seats. Sound quality was perfect. Best popcorn in the city, and beer or wine as well... I love this place.
The theater is awesome and the screen and sound quality are amazing, seats are very comfy and the auditorium was completely soundproof. Food and drink are extremely overpriced but that's to be expected with a theatre.
Great place to see films you generally won't see a wide release locally. The screens and projection are are still well calibrated offering a sharp and vibrant picture. On the other hand, the seating arrangements aren't great — not enough incline between rows, tight horizontal space, and the cup holders are awkwardly low.
Great place to watch independent, foreign and classic movies. My experience has been if you go to see the newer movies that are playing multiple times a day and over multiple days it is no problem to get tickets. If you are going to see a classic movie that is only playing once, you will need to get tickets before hand as they sell out at the door. The theaters themselves are great. Comfy seats and great sized screens. It is a joy to watch movies here. The concessions are very expensive like you would expect from a movie theater, but they are high quality at the very least. They also serve alcoholic beverages, such as beer and cocktails. During the festival this is the hub of all the activity and it is common to see celebrities here, but it also becomes very crowded.
Went there for a school trip. The seats were comfy and there was plenty of leg room. The theater combined with selection of great movies you won't find commonly made it really awesome!
This is hands down Toronto's best movie theatre for those who want an elevated experience. How nice it is to enjoy a film outside the house where your feet won't stick to the floor... Diversity of films, programming, and people + food and drink options, attention to design detail and comfortable seating make this a golden spot for solo excursions, date nights, and family events. Serious/frequent movie goers should consider membership packages for added value. Impressive special event spaces available as well. Nothing's perfect, but this place comes close. A Toronto gem!
I love how minimalist this venue is. I don't like going to big box movie theaters as they are starting to look more and more like casinos... too many bells and whistles. TIFF Bell Lightbox makes the movie experience, just what it should be. I've stopped going to the big theaters and I cringe when I have t go with friends but I always look forward to going to TIFF Lightbox. Oh and the staff here are so much more professional than those other mainstream theaters.
Great place to check out movies you can't find elsewhere. Fantastic theatres with top notch sound quality.
Great selection of movies and I love that they have memberships and exclusive events catered to film. They have a student deal which is great and the food choices are standard for a theatre. The location is also great!
Tiff Lightbox is not just for film buffs. It's for people want to share a human experience through film. They bring absolutely incredible films from around the globe that wouldn't normally get to a big screen outside a film festival. The discussions they host after the films are wonderful. They invite great speakers and really engage the audience. I bought the Reel Talk package for my sister. It was the best gift I ever got anyone. I highly recommend!
Great movie going experience. From the old fashion style popcorn to the comfy seating. Highly recommend.
Best theatres in the city. Impeccable sound, fine dining, comfortable seats, great movie diversity and easy transit options.
Classy theatre, usually a great selection of movies. Great lounge/bar area. Serves alcohol which can be brought into the theatre too.
Tip: it can be quite chilly in the theater if you're only wearing shorts and t-shirt. Bring a sweater. The theaters are amazing, the atmosphere exudes of love for films. The popcorn and pop are quite expensive.
Fantastic place to see a movie or documentary! The seats are so comfortable and the staff is always pleasant and accommodating.
Loved the place...such a great space. Service was a tad slow at the ticket office. Other than that great location ????
Very comfortable seating, great food selection. Clean Theater! Will surely visit again.
The absolute place for cinema! A mesmerizing place for experiencing culture, worlds and beauty! An island of international moving pictures, in the heart of the friendly, busy downtown! Cinema #2 is my super favorite!
Attended this location for the annual black ball. The venue is very nice, I really liked the layout for the party. There was multiple rooms so this could be used for various functions.
This is a great place to catch a lot of great films year round and not just during TIFF. It’s never super busy when we go and I kind of like it that way as it feels like our own private film screening. Some of my favourite films were only shown here. Great popcorn and snacks and comfy seats with a good audio and video experience. Drop by the TIFF store afterwards and pick up a cool gift for someone or treat yourself ????
Nice theater lots of space comfortable seating and a nice sized screens. Perfect for big film festivals
Super comfy seats, and if you get a membership you can sit in the bell blue room member's lounge with free tea, coffee and snacks!
Great selection of indie and older films. They also currate awesome exhibits. The theater itself is well designed, and very comfortable.
Nice building. There are some great featured films here during the year. I have never purchased food here, it's probably expensive. There are lots of places to eat right across the road, and there is convenient underground parking. Not hard to get to from the highway.
Always love this place! It's my happy place! Love the soundproof cinemas and most of the carefully selected movies!
Really nice cozy little place. Comfortable seats, good snacks menu. Playing some real nice foreign movies. I had a good a time, and will definitely be going back again. Don't drive, take transit.
Fantastic selection of films and amazing travelling exhibits. I once caught a glimpse of 2001: A Space Odyssey projected using a well archived 60mm print and it was fantastic. Well worth a visit!
My kids and I were there for TIFF kids, and we had a blast. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. There is stroller parking and coat check for whoever needs it, and lots of activities for the kids other than just the movie. Highly recommend for March break!
Good interior design, gift shop, restaurant...makes you appreciate spending time here more than at typical movie theatre.
Great Tour! I enjoyed the hospitality and warmth extended to me as we get to enter their high-quality theatres and understand the history and architecture of the unique building and surrounding areas.
You would be surprised to learn how many cultural institutions have libraries that are opened to the public. TIFF is such a place. People passionate about Films or Libraries, as well as school groups, are not the only ones who can visit. Staff is knowledgeable and welcoming, but call ahead or visit their website to get your search started before you visit.
Definitely worth checking out. They’ll have movies playing here that don’t come to other theatres like Cineplex. They’ll also have cool events like showings of old movies and cult classics.
Great movies showed here but not anywhere else. Still there is a limited number of theaters so not many are available at a time.
Great modern facility in the heart of Toronto with an exhibit and several theatres. It has a couple of restaurants and bars inside so it's a one stop hub for a night out. The theatres are kind of all over the place and it's a bit of a maze but staff are usually on hand and helpful for directing you.
Always an enjoyable experience here. The theatres are clean and I love the selection of films available that really aren't available most other places in the city.
This place is great. I showed my confirmation number and the tickets were issued quickly. The movie we saw: Last Black Man in San Francisco was a terrific movie. It is definitely a movie that gives you much food for thought. The acting is amazing.
Had the RBC townhall. Auditorium is spacious with very high end decorative stuff, sound system is awesome with the comfortable seating arrangement
Truly lucky to have Tiff in Toronto. One of the best places to see a film in Canada.
This is one of the best movie theatres in Toronto. It has a great mix of new and classic films, as well as other contemporary live programs.
Welcoming spirit and great staff at the theatre
This is the heart of the Toronto International Film Festival #TIFF ????If you are a visitor, a movie fan or simply curious about the film industry, you should stop here for a visit. In September, when the festival goes on, you may meet your favorite cinema stars and take a photo with them. There are a lot of things going on not only during the festival.
Thank you RBC for a great Family night out in this wonderful theater! #RBCrewards #gtahotproperty
We saw a preview of Sweet Virginia which will be released on December 1, 2018. ..a brilliant character study of a sociopath with no redeeming qualities until we see a flicker of humanity when he makes a small unexpected connection with the likeable manager of a motel. The film's director, Timmons native, Jamie Dagg was on hand for an enlightening Q &A with the audience after the screening.
The best curation of films, and the standard of film viewing in Toronto. A must visit if you live or are visiting here.
Community oriented theater that makes the big city feel a little smaller. Always a wide selection of films. From new boundary pushing cinema and foreign films to homegrown movies and classics from years past. Affordable connsessions that offer snacks, food and even alcohol.
Interesting movie picks, really cool atmosphere and tons for members to do and eat. Stocked with a bar, gift shop, playzone, concession, and an eatery. Great place for dates and see cool indie and old movies.
I love this theatre. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. You can bring outside snacks and drinks. And great movie selections not found elsewhere. Also, Brazilian Film Festival every first weekend of November!
The best place to watch the films in TIFF festival ????
What would we do without the TIFF Lightbox? This is an excellent cinema complex that shows top quality movies in a clean and modern environment. They show the full gamut of genres, from documentaries and retrospectives to quality foriegn content. Not a fan at TIFF Festival time but thankfully that is all over within a fortnight.
Great place to experience independent filmmakers' work, which is a very valuable and exciting part of our local and national culture. A great facility for a very comfortable and enjoyable viewing experience.
A little overpriced but the theatres and screening quality are very nice. The seats are not so comfy after a while though.
A rare gem that shows some of the best in film.
Such a nice platform to watch beautiful movies
The architecture of this place is amazing. It invites you to enjoy the experience
My favourite theatre in Toronto to watch films. State-of-the-art cinemas, I’ve watched them walk industry people around to show them all of the features. Snacks are delicious, staff are always friendly and courteous. Film selections are top notch. The best art house films and world cinema, as well as having spectacular specials events and retrospectives.
I went to the TIFF multiple times before the Oscars because I loved how the showed most of the movies. I saw all the short film nominations and almost all the best director films here. The theater is awesome, very big and the seats were really comfortable. There’s also a restaurant that I haven’t been to yet but I’ve heard great things about it
This was my second time going to TIFF and both experiences were great. This visit was during winterlicious 2014. Great selection of movies.Service was really lovely. Wonderful presentation.
I went to the TIFF Bell Lightbox for the first time in a year and a half to see a wonderful film called "Subjects of Desire", about how Black Women are seen in our society. It was great to be back. Erica was at the door checking Proof of Vaccination, it was nice seeing her again. I felt very safe. And it was great using my favourite washroom in the city. Take care stay safe.
This is hands down the best theatre in Toronto. It’s a gem playing independent films that get very little exposure but are magnificent works of art. The theatres themselves are incredibly dark, the projector bulbs are amazing so the quality of the picture is way above standard. Check out their site for special events. They’ve done some unique months that center around famous and amazing directors. I cannot express this enough: support this theatre!
Great atmosphere, comfortable seats, but the space between the rows was very little. Had to stand Everytime people passed by. Felt like I was at a sporting event.other than that it was a great experience overall
Nice theatre, though a bit pretentious. Snacks are nice and they have beer for sale. Good selection of films.
World class facility. Really like the atmosphere and design. Not too pretentious and inviting. I've seen a few films here.
Great for movies you wouldn't see at any other theatre. Saw the beautiful Loving Vincent. 10/10
Always a great movie experience. Everyone is respectful of other audience members here and the concessions are cheaper than most Cineplex locations.
I love going to the TIFF Bell Lightbox. It’s a way better selection than what they usually show at Cineplex. The theatres are also way nicer, better maintained, and the concession stand doesn’t make me feel greasy and sick.
one of the best places in toronto!. It’s a nice place where you can share your taste in cinema, meet people with the same tastes and learn. I’m always good to visit it. In featival times it is clearly full of people and sometimes it is difficult to pass, but they have a very good team and help to cope with all possible events so in that way we have good experiences both in the movies and on the red carpets. my all-time favourite here in Canada.
I've been there to watch the Brazilian Film Festival and I had a great impression of the building and the movie's rooms. The service is great too.
It's been a few years since I attended a screening at the Bell Lightbox, and I have to confess that it didn't take long before I remembered why. To say that this facility is not living up to it's potential would be an understatement. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for it to succeed. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that it isn't without it's fair share of issues.
Extremely well maintained and nice atmosphere
Spectacular view from the wedding venue. Food was amazing and service impeccable. Kitchen staff were able to accommodate my allergy that hadn't been previously noted.
Went for a script reading as part of jFL42. Loved the facility and the seating. Staff were friendly and efficient. Line handling was a bit strange but it worked.
Great Cinema House....interesting selections of classic, current and international films as well as intelligent restrospectives of historical film personalities and their works.
Best place to watch award winning films in the city
I love being in this building. It's very classy and nothing like being in a public cinema. So cozy you might fall asleep, but don't!
This space is dedicated to providing the best film experience in the city. They won't have the latest blockbusters like most theatres but they do show movies that will get movie fans excited. There's much more to the space than just showing movies but I suggest you explore it for yourself
The best theatre of all time. The film library for classic and Canadian films is amazing. The screen rooms are amazing. Super comfortable seating. Great concession and gift shop. Studio Ghibli exhibition is AMAZING when it's on. Their special events are great and their featured director areas are great and change regularly. Regular showings tend to lean on the more art-house ecclectic side so I wouldn't recommend looking for a blockbuster here if not during festival.
A cultural hub. Film festivals and fine food. An excellent venue for corporate gathering.d State of the art projection and acoustics - very comfortable theatre seating.
An great experience, good energy, various art available for all types and economic status. This is the place to get a sense of what Toronto film is about. Depending on the evening/event it can range from free to a steep price. Have yet to have a meal at the lounge.
The cultural significance of this theater is truly the pride of Toronto, and one that showcase great films that would otherwise be lost in a sea of box office marketable garbage.
Amazing acoustics, a true theater, quality food available, clean floors, good sightlines, appropriate viewing distances. Better than typical commercial theatres.
Came here to see "Going Clear" show was in cinema 5 on the 3rd floor, smaller theater with an intimate feel to it as well as some colorful characters bringing their own entertainment value to the environment. Overall a good experience.
My experience; Pricey! but you're paying for the experience and it's a lot cleaner than your average cinema, since most who go are too stuck up to enjoy popcorn and a soft drink.
A very elegant and comfortable place to watch particularly thought provoking movies or classic ones from varying decades. Excellent place for a fulfilling (date) night. The staff is lovely. Some films have featured presentations such as film discussions, interviews with cast members or film critiques. All in all, a great place for film lovers. As well, a true gem in the city supporting Arts & Culture in the film industry.
One of my favorite places to see a movie. The staff is also super top notch and friendly!
Fantastic place to watch the BEST films! I took a train to Toronto and am here for a few days, and after watching "Do The Right Thing" the day I got there, I bought tickets for every night! Definitely high quality films, great seating and huge screen. Highly recommend!!
Was an amazing experience. Loved the food, free gifts, seeing the celebrities. Movie premiers tickets were difficult to get.
I love cinema. I wish that we had a building like this back in Montreal. With the mixture of repertory and mainstream movies the TIFF building should be visited if you are a film enthusiast in Toronto. Great architecture, great posters.
I hadn’t set foot in this building for a few years. What I saw was stunning: great balance of colours, variety of film, and welcoming staff. A wonderful venue to visit if you want to check out Canadian, international, and independent film productions.
Love how modern it is. There is cell phone charging station. Bathroom is super spacious. It’s my favorite place to go for TIFF movies.
A litte more pricy than other ones, on other hand, it's Cosy and they show different movies than habitual in a normal movies. So it is fantastic
Great space to lounge in and the theaters are so comfortable. When I return I will definitely be sure to visit TIFF again.
Was visiting Toronto during the inside out film festival and had a chance to see one of the screenings. This venue and their book shop was top notch and I would definitely visit again.
Amazing theatre that shows a wide range of films you can't see anywhere else. The projection and sound quality is second to none. Love watching films here with fellow film buffs.
Glad it exists, good place to see a number of hard to track down movies/festival fare and there is definitely some cool programming! Wish there was more seating in certain areas (bench outside the washroom area would be cool), wish the food was either better or less expensive, and wish the branding was less "French New Wave: The Cinema " both in decor and actual programs... like the French New Wave is ....fine? I was 20 and into that once? And maybe programming and branding with that stuff is lucrative enough in terms of the general public and wealthier patrons that it's what allows the other more exciting programming to happen(I don't know how that works)... it's just ...it's 2019 , how hard to we have to rep a cannon that's 50-62 ish years old, extremely overrated and is strictly white guys, save for one cool woman (and she WAS very cool but damn dude she is not the only cool woman director ).
Interesting chinese movie: Ash is purest white. Comfortable movie theater, lots of good movies from different countries and some classics too.
King street is a disaster and impossible to park car on street or Widmer underground. I am mobility challenged and cannot drive to Lightbox so it is inaccessible in bad weather. I am deprived of my membership until weather improves. I used to go there 2 or 3 times a week
I love this place. The different theatres are just the right fit to watch movies in. I went to watch a documentary with friends and the theatre was actually cosy. It's has a nice feel to it plus the movies/documentaries that are shown there are pretty awesome. We randomly met one of the best Film Directors in Canada - he was heading in the building and we were stepping out. Lol we back tracked quick time.
The theaters here are so welcoming at TIFF. I saw two movies that day in different cinemas. The smaller one was especially comfortable. The sound was amazing and the view from the seats was impeccable. The larger cinema had more of an angle to the seating but equally great sound. We saw the quiet place. And let me tell you everyone in the theater was very quiet and respectful. No one kicking my seats no one talking loudly and disrupting my enjoyment of the movies. If every experience at TIFF is like this then it is worth the extra price on the tickets.
Great atmosphere! You can go upstairs to LUNA restaurant and have diner before going to the movies.
I don't think I've ever been so intrigued by the commercials (previews) before a movie in my life. I actually watched all of them closely. The main movie was also super interesting. I wish the screens were bigger but this isn't IMAX so fine. WHY CAN'T ALL POPCORN COMBOS COST THIS MUCH. The main reason I don't watch more movies in theatre is when popcorn costs more then 2 upgraded tickets you can just F right off (that means you Cineplex theatres). But here we are, a magical place where the movies are hella interesting and the popcorn costs about the same as a fast food combo. Bravo Lightbox, I'll be coming back.
A well-seasoned cinema that almost always screens an interesting and diverse selection of films. The staff are generally helpful and the theatres are spacious.
Love going here. We saw a movie and had the theatre to ourselves less maybe 5 or 6 people. Service is always with a smile!
TIFF also has the incredible Film Reference Library on the 4th Floor. I was stunned to find it and equally floored when I found this film library has been open to the public for 23 years. The Library is open to the public 32 hours a week Sept-June and houses over 22, 000 books, 11,000 posters, 62,000 film files. Not to mention they have 4 viewing booths for the public to watch films from their 15,000 title collection. A must visit to student and film buff alike!
The best cinema experience in Toronto. The space is gorgeous with comfortable seats, and for a meal before or after the show, Luma and Canteen are excellent. During the Toronto International Film Festival it is simply the place to be in the city.
LoveTIFF movies. But TIFF should do something about its line-ups for tickets. Their system is archaic--no ability to tap a credit card then you have to wait for a TIFF receipt after inserting card. Same even for cash! It took 4 times as long to get a ticket as at a regular movie house and we ended up being late for our movie. Get with it!!
One of the best places to see films, playing classics as well as new indie stuff. They have a great commitment to showings things properly.
Great place to watch great films. Just watched an amazing doc called Propaganda The art of selling lies. Excellent film for our times
Enjoy watching movies on the big screen here that you may not find in other theaters. Nice that thematic sets of films come in and out from all genres.
Great theatres, clean environment and friendly staff. I specially like the fact that they support many foreign festivals such as persian festival. This is what its all about!
Great place for movie lovers, can enjoy special movie year around, sometimes there is no internet connections in the cinemas though...
Went to Teton Gravity ski movie to start the season⛷️ Lightbox is always good for watching and there are often interaction with film people. We had Q&A with a couple of the stars. Chairs are comfortable, popcorn is good and not one cell phone rang ????
Convenient location. Clean place. Comfortable seats. Fair prices. They show international movies that other theatres don't. Could maybe add another popcorn taste to the ones available.
The place is very nice, the atmosphere is different from other cinemas, and they offer alot of varieties of movie that you can't see on a regular cinemas.
Don’t buy a membership to the Lightbox. I had a membership for 2 months and then the pandemic happened. They refused to honour it when they reopened stating that they offered online perks. I signed up for a theatre experience, not for some lame membership meet-ups.
Excellent atmosphere and great food.
Tiff is such a fantastic theater. You can get a totally different experience than you would at any chain Cinema. From the carefully selected movies, to the lounge and restaurant and the fun and refreshing concession options. It is special to spend an evening at the lightbox!
Most comfortable movie theater in town. Nice restaurants in building. Choice of international films, special screenings, and independent film. Best movie viewing venue. Easy to reach by TTC.
The front main lobby is currently under construction. The theatre is quite nice but you need to walk a bit to get to them. You need to climb stairs to use the washroom.
Love this theatre complex with its communal meeting areas where people gather to eat, drink and talk about the movies. It's bright, spacious and modern. I was delighted that they did not run loud obnoxious ads before showing the movie! Many previews interested me and the documentary I saw was outstanding. If I lived in Toronto, I'd be at TIFF all the time!
Nice interior architecture and always has a great selection of films. The gift shop has a well curated selection of books and films as well.
Great location. Always playing big time films. To me that means they curate the selection very well. Each room for viewing is a decent size and the seats are comfy.
This place Is awesome. Tickets are r ew asonable and the concession offers a decent variety. I came here to see a live concert from my favourite band and was not disappointed. Seats are very comfy and usually general admission. Only downside is sometimes you'll have to line up and rush to find a good seat. This place also has lots of cafes and other things to do and see and in the summer the festival is right down the street.
The staff are amazing, friendly, warm and very eager to help you! The utmost of care and attention to cleanliness is awesome! Sincere accolades to everyone! ♥
A long, one and a half hour wait for a special event entry which wait was longer than the screening. Considering Toronto is number one on the bedbug scale, I wish the seats were not cloth upholstered which spreads the bugs and their eggs. Seats by concessions need reupholstering. Concessions and gift shop are overpriced. Lots of great films though.
Always a great selection of movies, often international or "niche" films I can't see anywhere else. Organic GMO-free popcorn is a lovely bonus!
Great place to see movies.
The theatre is really nice. It's downtown and parking is limited but side streets generally have spots if you don't mind walking a few minutes. The theatre itself has food options and the staff are really nice. My one complaint is that the movie volume is too loud. I'm all for loud movies but it was extreme when we went last time. At some points I looked around and literally 1/3 of the theatre was plugging their ears.
Just be careful, if the theatre is full, they won't be giving you any refunds only credits. Plus, the popcorn doesn't taste as good as Cineplex popcorn, even when freshly popped. Odd.
One of the nicest theatres around, the festivals such as TIFF and Hot Docs also really add value and make this cinema really stand out in terms of offerings and atmosphere.
This is probably the best reason to live in downtown Toronto. Good Movies from all over the world that you will not have the chance to watch anywhere else if not at Tiff.
This place is really pretty. I love the lounge, located on the second floor. If you are not interested in seeing a movie, just go for diner or some wine and take in one of the nicest views in the city. For the movie theater some movies are expensive if they are special screenings. My one issues is that I wish the chairs could be more comfortable in the movie theaters.
TIFF Bell Lightbox offers the opportunity to check out international/artistic films which are not typically showcased at Cineplex. It also has a nice gift shop across from the box office.
Some of the best variety of films in Toronto. Go if you're a movie buff and watch something weird.
Acclaimed flicks often arrive here before hitting Cineplex cinemas. The classy Luma Bar on the second floor offers great (and ridiculously cheap from 4-9pm) cocktails; try the High Park.
Have seen movies here from time to time. Modern facility that accommodates film festivals and shows first run movies of niche genres.
Great spot for international films. Not so much during the film festival held yearly. Seating can be quiet and intimate. Price is average seen from theatre chains.
Attended event for the Italian Film Festival. Good venue. Lots of activity going on . The festival was one of several event going on. Place feels vibrant. Nicely designed. Two restaurants. One has a large patio on the street. Find myself going there several times throughout the year.
This was some of the best theatre going I've ever experienced. I got to see an advanced screening for a movie and everyone was respectful and silent. It was amazing.
A signature signpost on the King St theatre strip. It is the flagship venue for the TIFF every September. Nice theatres, good seats and reasonable concession snacks and prices.
They show great quality films. Convenient location. We are lucky to have this theatre
Indifferent towards the disabled. Last Saturday I went to see a film at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. I missed the film because I circled the theater for one hour, looking for a place to park: I am on a walker, cannot walk well, and require close proximity parking. When I finally managed to park and get to the ticket counter, I told the young man working there about my mishap and asked if he had suggestions regarding where a disabled out-of-towner like me could park. The worker was thoroughly dismissive--even contemptuous--of my question, of my suggestion that the TIFF Bell Lightbox post on its website information regarding where disabled patrons might park, and of my request that he pass my request onto management.
My favorite place to watch movies. Some of the theaters are small which I like and the people is always friendly. Great selection of foreign movies. The concession are reasonable and you can also get wine or beer while watching a movie.
The most wonderful retrospectives of the best cinema in the world. They manage to find gems both old and new that we have not seen before. If i ever retire i will be here almost every day.
Overall good venue and decent sized screens and seating. Very good line up of movies all year long. Annoying to navigate and HORRIBLE men's washrooms :(
If you want to come early to buy 'rush order' tickets during TIFF, get early. And hey! You never know that there's a staff from any film distributor will give you 'free tickets' like 'Mongrel Media' for example in 'Shoplifters'.
Saw the Last Black Man in San Francisco- highly recommend it! Sweet little lounge and the gift shop is always cute. Wish the service was faster- they had trouble finding my email when I was getting my ticket.
My uncle works here and tells me this is one of his favourite places to work as it’s just a friendly atmosphere. The tiff light box is such an extraordinary part of Toronto and I wish my uncle would get me a job here but I feel like I would be stuck like him 40 years old working a dead end job with a divorced wife and 2 young children.
Rude, snooty staff and not the first time. They descended with garbage pails and rushed the audience out after the 6:45, May 12 show of "Going Clear." "Make your way out, unless you want to pick up a broom and help." "Clear out so we can get ready for the next viewing." I barely had time to gather my coat and see the last of the credits. It was embarrassing for my friend and I, to be treated so shabbily. Another time I stood in line weighed down with backpack and shopping, winter coat, boots...and an attendant looked me over , saying loudly, "You're in the wrong line." No offer to find the right line-just what felt like an affront. Please remember, paying customers are guests and need always to be treated with courtesy, or we can just opt for a cozy evening with Netflix.
I love the place, very trendy, aswaome movies but I couldn't give 5 stars because the seats are not really confortables.
Awesome place to share drinks with friends and head out to the best movies. Saw the story of the real wonder women who inspired Wonder Woman the comic book character this evening. A beautiful touching story of unconventional love.
General seating in smaller than mainstream theaters, so I'd the film you want to see is popular and it's a new showing, get there early. A bit more expensive than mainstream @$14, $6 for popcorn. Seats are showing a bit of wear, but still comfortable. Canteen on ground floor serves a good menu.
Good theatres. Lobby area has good space and places to sit and get a drink. Of cource movie selection is the main reason for going there. On an other things equal basis thst is the main reason for going to BL
This was my first time to TIFF. I went to see the Irishman. The seats were comfortable and it's licensed so you can bring alcoholic beverages in with you to watch the movie. Nice size screen and a good sound system. I was happy that they were played the Irishman movie since it was boycotted by the regular movie houses. All said it's great place to catch movie
Presenting all different genre of films would be one of the reason I go to this cinema. The street front of the building gets fulfilled with more than thousand people during TIFF festival. Participated in the volunteer programe for the last two years. It was amazing experience. Excellent!!
This is the greatest movie theater I have been to. Not only the movie selection is always impressive but the bar is also nice and cheap.
Excellent informative and staff. Very clean and handicapped access. Lots to do here and opportunities to see films that are outside the mainstream. Love it.
The TIFF Bell Lightbox is absolutely perfect. They constantly have new and very interesting films to view, as well as older classics which younger folks such as myself wouldn't otherwise have gotten to experience on the big screen. I have seen masterpieces such as A Clockwork Orange and High-Rise here, in near-empty theaters, for $10 a ticket (student pricing!). You can also buy beers at the concession stand (!) and they've got the wonderful Luma bar directly across from the theaters where you can enjoy a bite or drink before the show. The masterclass in cinema in Toronto.
Nice facilities for movies. Two restaurants if you want to eat before or after the film.
Saw the new Tibetan film here at the world Premire "The Sweet Requiem" during the TIFF '18. Met the actors Rabyoung Thonden Gyalkhang and Shawu Dorjee, really talented, cool guys.
I'm ashamed to say that this was my first visit to this facility to see a movie film - and it's a wonderful place - Great seats and sightlines - and you can still see actual films projected on film!!
I have just tried a few times to look at descriptions of the various movies you are showing. Did you know that your website comes up as 'suspicious website - we strongly recommend that you do not use this website'? I have Norton, and this is what Norton told me, in bright orange, no less. Maybe you should have this checked, you seem to have a virus in there. Anyway, now I can't find out anything about the movies playing at tiff, darn. Fix it, please!
Wonderful cinema. Truly world class. Selection of film showings is excellent. Art films that the art crowd will attend. Several things are well thought out. Sound. Lighting. Spacing of seats. Air. Washrooms. Pop corn.....small amount of salt. Five cinema halls under one roof. Toronto deserves such a space. Large percent of funding comes from an interested membership. Tiff has set an example for the film world to measure up to.
Home of the Toronto International Film Festival. It is at the centre of festival street when a portion of King Street closes down between Simcoe and Spadina for the opening weekend of TIFF. But it also is a theatre that is open all year. Amazing place year round with special, rare screenings not found at other theatres such as Cineplex. Buyers tend to buy international films shown at the TIFF in previous year(s).
This is such a wonderful place to go see movies. The theaters are cozy, and the sound quality is amazing. A fantastic place to watch some hidden gems.
get rid of the new management in the festival towers. Houda the manager should not be in that position. she is rude!!! impolite!!!! not helpful!!!! My dealings with the festival towers have been since day 1. The previous management was very pleasant and always very helpful. Houda has made my experience with the festival towers a very unpleasant one. As an owner of this festival tower I am not happy with her at all. Please make sure we screen our people before hiring them.
Delighted to be here every time. The staff is amazing. And so are the films!
The Lightbox has very unique and unusual theatrical screenings that you can't find at other theatres. The typical audience members are also much more respectful of the whole movie viewing process than at normal theatres.
Went with my 10yr old daughter. At first most of the other kids seemed younger but she was soon enjoying herself. Not a huge place, price wasn't high. We spent over an hour and a half there before she wanted to leave. Almost everything is interactive except for one exhibit. Staff are very good to the kids, helpful and cheerful. My daughter and I both enjoyed ourselves. Well worth the visit. Good location as there are restaurants close by.
I enjoy my time at Tiff everytime I come. Thinking about getting a membership because I enjoy the experiences and movies they offer.
The only place downtown that shows foreign and artsy films. A great place to grab a drink as well.
Wonderful theatre that shows great movies all year around! There are two great restaurants right inside, in addition to concession. They also serve alcohol at concession.
Was a great experience, went to the event through Bell. Movie viewed was rather dull, but the atmosphere and crowd is very supportive and genuine.
A must for film buffs! Home of the Toronto International Film Festival held every September. It is also a fantastic place to see films year-round in one of its 5 high-end theatres. Excellent sound, tiered seating, restaurants/lounges, a film library, and other amenities. They run a variety of smaller film festivals and educational programs too.
Excellent facilities, world-class films, friendly staff, but horrible service. If you go a few minutes before a movie to try to buy a ticket, even if you are a TIFF member and in the "special" members' line, you may find yourself stuck there for a long time, and miss the beginning of the movie. Its much faster and more efficient at a cineplex, even though cineplex's films are not in the same league as TIFF's. It's a shame they haven't gotten this figured out after being open for quite a few years now - why should anyone have to wait in line so long to buy tickets, let alone tiff members? Why are there not automated touch-screens available, like at Cineplex, for people to buy their films? It feels quite archaic in 2020 having to stand in a lineup to buy a movie ticket. Just because we want to see films from the 1980s doesn't mean we want our movie-ticket-buying experience to also be from the 1980s.
TIFF and the Lightbox provide year round programmes and events around films, film making, film history. and film technology. It's theatres are comfortable and well equipped. A true jewel for Toronto.
Is Super Friendly Great Time! Movie was Awesome! Theatre is Always Clean! Staff&Services 5⭐
Awesome blossoms, what can we say about out visit at TIFF. It was welcoming, warm, and beautiful. The people there were great and we loved it. Thank you.
TIFF is always so much fun!! It would be great to have more information on local events that are happening around the city to celebrate the festival (at affordable prices).
One of the biggest rip offs in the entire city. Film lovers are not welcome unless they pay for an obnoxious membership fee. Their movies are presented with horrible audio and visuals. Most of the time you're probably watching a dvd hooked up to their digital projector. The staff and management are pretentious and lack any knowledge of their own company. Invest money into a home theatre or find the local revival theatre. Don't waste your money at tiff.
Great place to watch independent films. One of the most important institutions of Toronto. Easy access, good service, good events, elegant and very good screenings. Will soon be a member.
TIFF 2021 I’m so glad we have tiff this year. Thank you for everything you have done for the people who live here, for the film industry, and for the Toronto city, especially during this COVID
Very pleasant experience. Movies are very eclectic array that you won't see at regular theaters.
