Great place to visit
We had an awesome time here. The staff was very knowledgeable and most of all it was free.
Beautiful place, very friendly staff, lots of fun!
Not a tourist trap, but a wonderfully preserved Acadien village with lots to see and experience. This is a very well staffed village with lots of friendly folk to explain the history of the village, the homes, the people, and how they lived. The homes have wood fires going with traditional lunches being prepared on wood stoves by the staff for the staff. Molasses cookies and Rappie Pie samples are freely offered to visitors are a nice touch. A working forge and a blacksmith demonstrating his craft, as well as a boat shop with staff to explain and demonstrate dory making are nice ways to see, hear and experience history. All staff are in traditional dress and make you feel like you have stepped back in time. Very thoughtful rest stops have been set up to allow you to enjoy the views. The cafe has fresh made sandwiches and baked goods that are homemade, and are reasonably priced. The gift shop is well stocked with tasteful gift items and art. The views of the ocean are beautiful and worth the price of admission, but I cannot over emphasize how friendly the staff were. My whole party raved about their afternoon there.
An amazing place to learn about the history of Acadian living in rural Nova Scotia, friendly staff and very reasonable rates.
(Translated) Very nice place to visit (Original) Très bel endroit à visiter
A wonderful living museum. Dog friendly ( not in buildings ), and a simple spot for lunch.
Didn’t like it, too much seafood
I have nothing negative to say about this place. Had a great bowl of smoked haddock chowder and biscuit all homemade. Staff was super friendly and knowlegable . Not a huge place so takes no more than an hour to experience.
Great friendly experience even with all COVID-19 protocols in place. Dogs are welcome which made this outing possible.
Been there 3 times and will go again.

Such an interesting place to visit and has delicious lunch and dessert
Very nice place and people, very hospitable. Beautiful site with some interesting historical buildings and items. The scenery is fantastic.
(Translated) History prepared great and a real experience! We had a bit of bad luck with the mosquitoes and will definitely prepare for the next visit accordingly. We liked it very much and we find the entrance fee of 8 CAD in each case appropriate! The blacksmith had a specially forged nail with initials - thanks again! :-)
(Translated) A super nice village of yesteryear with the costumed people of the time who explains very well how that if passed before. There is a small forge where our boy has even received an old nail with his name on it. Quiet experience to live for a moment of relaxation.
Very nice village, staffed by descendants of the original settlers. The ladies in the cafe were very friendly and explained Rappie Pie, then let us sample it. Their fish chowder was the best I had in a couple of weeks of having seafood chowders all over Nova Scotia.
Excellent... very friendly and informative.
Amazing recreation of an Acadian Village with a lot of great staff to tell you the story. It's a moving story from very resilient people. Worth a visit.
Loved it, Full of History. Amazing Stop.
Loved the historical village and all those who played their part. Lots of fun sharing with them. Awesome people. Awesome history.
(Translated) So beautiful a place to visit, the food is also excellent and what about people who embody characters of time. Superb. Superbe.
The animators were so generous and friendly. Don’t miss this stop! Whether you are a history buff or a science fan, or you are trying to amuse your family. Something for everyone! Definitely stop at the cafe.
Very knowledgeable, helpful friendly staff. We learned so much and had so much fun!
We have been to many Nova Scotia museums but this topped them all. All the stories of the Acadians in Pubnico were presented by genuinely enthusiastic story tellers - we loved every bit of it
A wonderful little living museum, filled with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Super living museum! Loved learning about how to make a fishing net, salting fish, building a boat, and other parts of Acadian life. I was hesitant to go i, but so glad we did.
Perfect for family day trip, educational and fun.
(Translated) Superb place. Explanations available in French with people in the houses of the village who camp well their role of blacksmith, housewife, fisherman, boat manufacturer, etc. To visit if one passes in the sector. Congratulations for the welcome! (Original) Superbe endroit.
Very enjoyable! Staff are exceptional and knowledgeable. My granddaughters aged 7 and 6 were very entertained.
Loved it! The explanations were both informative and descriptive, the people in the village were unassuming but very knowledgeable. Each character told us of their craft and their life in their own particular style. We got a peek at life as it must have been 100 years ago.
(Translated) Marvellous (Original) Merveilleux
(Translated) Do not miss to visit if you go to New Brunswick.
While you are there, you have to go to the café. The coconut cream pie and the grilled cheese is to die for. It’s so worth it. They also have free samples for rappie pie. Usually places like this drive me crazy. The actors talk with an exaggerated accent, and use old slang. You can barely understand them, it’s too forcefully immersive. But this place was completely different. The staff there are hardly actors. They talk normally, and they actually are working on what they talk about (like knitting), instead of just having props lying around. Like the blacksmith; he makes nails for kids, and puts their initial on top as they watch. The workers know what they are talking about from experience, and for most of them, their families as well. You can tell they care about their history. It’s not just some summer job for them.
Very interesting history
The haunted village was awesome, I really liked it!
Loved this place. Made me think of my Nan and our Acadian roots. We could have spent days here for sure. So much to see and do.
Awesome experience for me and my family! The cast is totally immersed in the life these people lived, it really gives you a glimpse into the past. The buildings are well maintained and decorated. The cast is really so nice and informative. I feel like I learned a lot that day. The kids enjoyed the black smith shop the best. Well worth it.
Awesome! The houses are cool. The gides ar very helpful. Gteat for kids.
An authentic Acadian historical village in the heart of Pubnico, an Acadian down on the Southwest shore of Nova Scotia. The stories told at each of the villages restored houses are educational and at the same time entertaining. The village offers a piece of Acadian culture and history that is a must experience for all who visit, particularly fellow Canadians.
(Translated) History of the Acadians Village and characters in clothes that guide us in the history of Acadian ancestors.

Fun and interesting
Happy to celebrate the Acadian festivaties with my Acadian hubby ????
Great place to spend a few hours. Knowledgeable and pleasant staff.
I have only been around Halloween for their Haunted Village experience, but it has always been a great time. Beautiful scenery.
Highly recommended
(Translated) Very beautiful, especially very well explained (Original) Très beau, surtout très bien expliqué
A telling story! Fascinating and interesting!
Always enjoyable and the grandkids love going
By far my favorite Acadian related museum, with a fantastic and continually growing "town" and full of information about Acadian history and way of life. I particularly love to see the blacksmithing and farm with pigs and chickens, but the boat maker, lobster trapper, quilters, and salt fish guy are also really interesting and informative. Plus they have a darling lighthouse on site! Admission is super reasonable and they even have a family rate if you're bringing a group! A must see if you are within an hour drive or visiting the area :)
Amazing detail to history
A wonderful historic site with great interpreters and interactive experiences. Please go support them this summer. They are a hidden gem and the cafe has great food that is well priced.
A 4.5 rating. A great little Acadian village with friendly and informative live resident guides. Comparable to a similar village in northern New Brunswick.
Good place to visit the past
Loved this experience! Everyone was so knowledgable and nice! My mom and I enjoyed our visit immensely!
Staff was great with my kids
(Translated) We had a great time learning and interacting with the animators.
Another tourist attraction which is closed on the weekend.
I loved seeing how the Acadians lived back then an very educational.
(Translated) This is the second time we visit there will certainly be a third time (Original) C'est la deuxième fois que l on visite de il y aura certainement une troisième fois
Very nice little village with a lot of opportunities to interact with the people there. Everyone we met was very nice and friendly, they all liked to talk about the way they lived in the past. Clear recommendation
Fascinating and interesting history of French Acadia. Each home or building has a tour guide who can gives you a history lesson on particular aspects of lifestyle of early French Acadians. I lived in Louisiana for a number of years and gained a much better understanding of how the Cajuns got to Louisiana and about their culture before they were expelled. One of our best tour stops during our trip to a number of states in the U.S. and Nova Scotia. Views from village are picturesque and breathtaking.
(Translated) A little disappointing (Original) Un peu décevant
Very nice museum
Wonderful glimpse into the past. I love how everything is set up exactly how it would have been. Guided tours into each area gives you a real sense if how it would have been.
Live action demonstrations
Very beautiful, love the view on the trails
(Translated) Exceptional experience. Nice and welcoming staff. The blacksmith gave us a nail that he made ahead of us- that was greatly appreciated and even as an adult, very exciting. Thank you very much to the staff for all the information and for being so warm (Original) Expérience exceptionnelle.
Loved it!
Excellent presentation by the staff who are dressed in period costume, very educational on the life and times of the Acadian ppl in NS, highly recommend.
(Translated) Beautiful site and visit of the interactive village with costumed employees who make the visit of the most interesting. It's worth the detour!
(Translated) Great place! Very informative and very nice people! (Original) Super endroit! Très informatif et gens très sympatiques!
Great guides!
Great place to visit and learn about history and Acadian culture. They DO speak English if you don't speak French.
Awesome views, people and venue for learning about the Acadians who were able to return after the 1755 expulsion. Well worth the half a day to see it. Don't forget to take the walk by the sea. Truly awesome friendly people.
Had a great afternoon visiting, enjoyed all of the interpreters. The highlight was when "Olan" the fisherman bartered for a wheelbarrow wheel from "Phillippe" the wheeler. ????
I'm acadian
(Translated) The presence of costumed people makes the visit interesting. The blacksmith made a personalized nail for each of my children, as well as one for my partner and me. My son liked the molasses cookies from one of the ladies on the site. There are not many buildings, but each is well represented. The visit is affordable.
It's very true to the Acadian history of the village. It is staffed by very polite local people who will gladly answer your questions. Lunch is also great.
Excellent place to learn about Acadian history.
Unique experience and opportunity to learn authoritatively about the trades (forging, boat building, fishing) and living in the period from locals who are the actual descendants of the original acadians. They have a working forge, build their own boats and keep farm animals. A wonderful place to visit for people of all ages.
Interesting living history. Well worth the short drive. Planning a couple of hours at least.
Great museum, friendly staff!
Wonderful stop for little kids and a bit of Acadian history. Everyone here is friendly and full of knowledge. You can go from home to home, place to place, and see how things were done hundreds of years ago. They even cook authentic meals from the period with the same tools. You then get to taste them! This is not one of those creepy places where the people actually think they are in the past. The folks will talk to you about the past but are aware they are in the present.
Steeped in history
This seemed to be the only thing to do on the Pubnico pennisula, so we gave it try. Everyone was very friendly. The blacksmith was very interesting and funny! He made a nail with my daughter's name on it. When we were in one of the houses, they had samples of rose hip jelly. Delicious! I asked about buying some and the nice woman said yes, they normally sold it, but they had literally just sold out. Apparently my disappointment showed. She said, let me look, I might have one hidden away, and she came back with a jar. It was all very interesting.
Be sure to try the rappie pie when in West Pubnico.
(Translated) For $ 8 it was a great experience. The people are super friendly. Both in English and French.
Engaging on site practicing blacksmith, wheelwright, shipwright, gill net weaver.
