I thoroughly enjoyed touring through this beautifully restored mansion. It was totally worth the price of admission to see the gorgeous artworks and learn about the family who owned this wonderful piece of history.

I accidentally drove by twice because I was looking for an actual castle. It’s a large Victorian Mansion, with interesting period furnishings and decorative murals. They have kept the rooms intact as they were for their original occupants. The basement houses a collection of local artifacts. My only gripe was that they don’t allow any photography, not even without a flash.

Anna Chahill

Quaint, and the inside was gorgeous. Lots to see and lots of biblical references which were interesting to see. Lots of intricate patterning and beautiful furnishings too. Their covid protocols were tight. Only reason I did not give this 4-5 stars is because our tour guide was very unwelcoming and we felt rushed. Despite us getting through the tour in a timely manner, and getting out before time was up, she kept looking at her watch as if we were taking too long. I even asked her if we were doing OM on time, because she kept looking up at her watch, lol. Very monotone and expressionless. The place itself was great, but the guide was cold, unwelcoming, and quite frankly made the tour feel more boring than it should have felt.

Right next to Tim Hortons. This is indeed not a castle. But definitely worth seeing as it gives a detailed insight into a rich man's home 80 or so years ago. Wonderful details.

Castle Kilbride, the 19th century home of James Livingstone, a Baden flaxseed merchant, was decorated for Christmas. The special Christmas tour showed the restored home's lovely Victorian decorated theme to the public. Excellent historical display of a bygone era.

Beautiful High Victorian mansion in Baden, Ontario built by a Scottish immigtant who made his fortune in the linseed oil trade. Exceptional "trompe d'oeuil" paintings! Wonderful painted ceilings & beautiful hand-carved marble fireplaces & wooden valances. It is lovingly restored to the 1920's.The last owner had to auction off all the art & furniture in 1988 but 75% of it is back in the house, mainly by donation with a few purchases. The guide clearly enjoyed recounting the history. A lovely surprise find while driving in the country on a drizzly November day. Good COVID protocols. You can book timeslots online.

Ok tourist attraction. Lots of interesting things.

Chloe Weir

Very nice experience. I loved the 14 minute intro video, they'd obviously spent time, money and effort on that part in particular. The museum itself was fascinating, and set up in a way that flowed, and didn't require a guide to make sure you saw everything. The price we paid was perfectly reasonable for the amount of time we spent and the level of enjoyment (quite high). Our 10 year old liked it just as much as we did. She enjoyed learning about the trompe l'oeil style and liked the outdoor privies quite a bit :P

It was a nice, large historic home, but certainly not worthy of being called a castle.

Awsome historic woodwork and furniture

Spectacular tour! Guide was incredibly knowledgeable, each room was immaculately staged. I had the benefit of seeing it decorated for Victorian Christmas, with lots of original elements from that. My favourite part was the basement, a tour of mourning practices since the family experienced so much loss. For example: funerary flowers coated with wax to preserve them... 100 years later they are absolutely haunting. Highly recommend a visit!!!

Leo Mc Carron

A bit rushed for 10 bucks per person and can't take pictures. It doesn't have any historical significance, it's just the mansion of a local rich dude built in 1877. Many things aren't original anymore. You don't even enter from the front. You park and enter from the back, doesn't feel very authentic. It's nice to see some victorian era architecture and mild trompe d'oeuil painting but that's about it.

Chris P

I didn't go inside, but I think it's odd that there is a modern administration building attached to the historical building

Ihor Palahnyuk

Great historical building; unfortunately, did not have a chance to book the tour yet. Large parking at the back and a short educational walking loop with few Canadian Prime Ministers’ statues.

Donna Doering

just a wonderful beautiful place, to go back in time.

Cary Crooks

This place would be better if it was free to view or at a more competitive price such as $1/$2. The price to get into this "museum" is $6.50 and you cannot take pictures or record videos! What is the point to pay such a price if I cannot record the moment. The township really needs to re-evaluate its policies.

Heidi Schumacher

Looking forward to bringing my MIL for the Christmas tour!
