I was expecting the Museum to be related to V&A however it was like a typical European Museum. The ambience at the Cafe is matchless but it could do with a microwave in order to heat up the Paninis.

Great place! In two hours I visited all the museum plus two shops. There is a cultural heritabe inside. You can feel a bit from each cuture in ecery corner of the museum. Never get bored admiring the sculptures and fine paintings. Or just get ready for trying a pair of clothes for a memorable picture. I like the ceiling very much and I think is very remarkable how the staff is taking care of the people who are visiting in there. They have had a smile on their face evrytime.

I went to the Alice in Wonderland, Curiouser and Curiouser exhibition. It's well worth a visit for only £20!

What a great museum! We spent the whole day here and didn't even see half of it ????. A highlight for me, is the 4000+ year old Japanese artifacts. It's amazing that these intricate items have survived for so long! The casts area is also a wonderful way to see some amazingly detailed replicas of famous art from around the world in their full sizes. This museum is a great place to see lots of art from many different cultures. Definitely add this museum to your list of you're in London!

A great art collection museum with a lot of incredible masterpieces that can only be found here. Plan to spend your whole day or at least a half day (min 3 hours), otherwise you will not get to see enough. Highly recommend to revisit abd check for exhibition details. Also, you can apply V&A m membership and members can access exhibitions for free.

If you are in London, this is a must see. The collection is absolutely unique, and the curators create very special experiences that elevate design and craft to a whole other level. The rapid response collecting takes a snapshot of current events and presents the objects and artifacts that shape us now.

Kath Watson

A free to enter museum, which also hosts exhibitions requiring paid admission. It's worth visiting just to see the building itself. Combining large airy spaces, with natural light coming from the rooftop domes. Balconies running around, providing a different perspective and sympathetic modern additions gives you plenty to look at. The huge variety of the free exhibits also means that everyone will find something that catches their eye, even those with no special reason for going here. And as it's free, it's your choice how long you stay, because you can always come back again and see more. Each exhibit has a brief written description. There are also curators in each area who can answer any questions. In addition there's computer terminals to use, where you can access the museum's website and search exhibits using the items code number. The museum is fully accessible, with lifts to all floors and gentle ramps up to the entrance. Toilet facilities and a good café are on site to make sure your visit is as pleasant as possible. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Went to see the Alice in wonderland exhibition. It was fantastic to see how it has influenced art, politics and film over the last 100 years. V&a handled the amount of people well and staff were fantastic as always.

Silviu Trandafir (tattoo artist)

An art museum with various galleries. Most of the displays are not including paintings though. There artifacts, pieces of culture from all over the world and from different historic ages. Someone can easily spend 3 hours or more if you are willing to visit all rooms.

Gonzalo Ferreiro Volpi

The Alice in Wonderland exhibition is really amazing. Bookings have been full for a while so we had to book two months in advance I reckon, but the exhibition was worth it. The way it tells the story first and then how it has been used across formats and countries for different subjects and topics is amazing and incredibly informative.

A great afternoon out. We went to their Bag exhibition and it was an incredibly in depth look into the fashion, design and creating the well known accessory. As the heavens opened we stayed in and walked round the museum a bit and there is so much that we could have spent a whole afternoon in there. Aiming to go back soon.

The best experience. Nicely laid out and all staff are helpful. Members lounge was excellently serviced by attentive staff. Prices for mocktail and lunches were excellent and reasonable. I felt that the gift shop was a little expensive. …

Great place to view "borrowed" forever artefact! Staff are very pleasant. Best to visit on weekdays, weekends can get crowded. You've got the Natural History and Science Museums within shirt walking distance too which are usually a lot more popular for the you get generation.

What an amazing museum. Such awe inspiring collections and such an awesome building too. A lovely outside cafe in an amazing courtyard. Watch out for the low flying pigeons though! .

This is the truly BRITISH MUSEUM FOR ALL BRITISH. There are so many exhibitions to have a look for total of five levels. I have been to Victoria and Albert Museum for three times in order to see nearly 80% collections in the museums. It is great to be in the museum and enjoy the atmosphere of the pax Britannia era of Britain. Especially in the Big hall at the middle where most replica of great Italian artworks are shown. You will be truly amazed when you are seeing this, if you are reading this I hope you feel the enjoyment as I am when I was in the museum. Good day to you all????❤️

Rajarshi Saha

A beautiful building with lots to interest one. The sculptures are amazing as was the exhibition of modern design. The fabrics in both the Japanese and Chinese rooms were beautiful, a work of art in themselves. Oh and did I mention the cafe with someone playing the grand piano really transported one back to bygone days.

Annabelle Hill

One of the finest museums in the world. Awesome collections and majestic building. From Roman statues to a Hello Kitty toaster and everything in-between. Some engaging permanent galleries, including a great theatre and performance exhibition and stunning jewellery gallery. Not as interactive for children as some museums and a bit dark and gloomy in parts. But well worth a visit.

Arthur Youd

Very big and beautiful place. The orientation of the halls is very confusing. You can walk in the same place several times

Robert Dunn

Something for everyone, beautiful architecture and varied displays. Not as busy as expected. There is also a nice restaurant and a shop.

Andra Burdea

stunning place in and out, defined recommend if your coming to london or going near london, there are so many different historical pieces and lots to do for a couple hours!!

One of several great museums in london. Free timed entry, just book online. Donations accepted. South Kensington is the nearest train station. We went to see Fashion in gallery 40, Middle East in gallery 42 and porter gallery for Islamic Design. Allocated around 2.5 hours for those 3 galleries. Could easily spend a whole day at the cafe, shop and other exhibitions. 10 out of 10!

The Victoria & Albert is probably the best museum of whole London. It's collection presents all different forms of arts and design in a beautiful way, and allows to have a view of all the craftsmanship thought-out the history. The museum is very close to the South Kensington station and to the Science museum, is so easy to visit, other reason to go visit!

An amazing resource with a world class collection of artifacts from around the world. A fascinating photography exhibit has been added since the last time I visited with some of the earliest images ever captured on film. One of my favourite parts of the Cast Gallery which gives us a glimpse at the past of museums and how people learned about far flung parts of the world when travel was much more limited than today. Always worth a visit. It's technically free, but don't forget to donate!

Fantastic place, fantastic exhibition, slightly harder to find your way around with various doors closed for refurbishment, but very helpful guides are never far away. An excellent place to spend as much time as you can.

Very spectacular museum! We liked it very much. Lots to see. We cam to the museum after lunch but I easily see how to spend full day in V&A. The cafe looks very interesting and gorgeous too.

Fascinating museum. Worth a visit just to see the architecture of the buildings themselves but they are filled with amazing displays of artifacts. Spent the whole day there and saw just a small fraction of the whole collection. Will definitely be back!

What can I say but wow well worth a visit.

The best museum I was in, it has a huge collection on different themes and regions. I visited already 3 times and didn't manage to see all of it, this is mainly because I like to take my time and read about what it is in the room and the displayed objects, hopefully next time I am going will finish it :)

C. Amzn

Loved this museum for the enormous collection from all parts of the world. This is the museum has a 'south Asian and Islamic' section, that safeguards the ancient ammo used by Indian warriors of the pre-British era (like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Aurangzeb, Tipu Sultan, etc) This museum is huge and one may find one full day is less to explore everything. This place is must visit if you want to feel how history becomes live in front of you!

There is always so much to see at the V&A Museum, most of the exhibitions are free but are there exhibitions you have to pay to see but I can assure you they are worth it. Fantastic collections to enjoy, there is always so much too see and enjoy. In my opinion is the best museum of London.

Dee Youngs

Britain has the best museums and once again FREE. Suggested donations of course but you must! Labrynth of rooms and different era and types of treasures to see. Go and see it. We visited the South Asian rooms especially for the Sikh collection. So much colour and interesting detail and knowledge.

A large scale historian museum figuring their 15th century collections of heritages through their experience around the world. It's a free entry museum with no additional costs but they do organize special events and exhibitions which does cost money to get in. A wonderful place to visit for all age. Recommended to all historian and artists lovers! Food and gift shops available if needed. Social distancing and face masks aren't required but it is a choice for you decide whether you want to or not. Hand sanitisers and toilets are available throughout the museum. P.S. V&A has changed their main entrance to the left side of the building for entry where staff will welcome you and direct you to the entrance.

If you need to choose only one museum to visit in London, this should definitely be V&A (yes, not even the British museum!). Everyone can find there something of interest and you can easily spend a full day there exploring without noticing how the times passed by. If it's your first time in the museum, I'd advise to take a free one hour introductory tour (daily at 10.30, 12.30, 13.30 and 15.30) which will introduce you a selection from the Museum's outstanding collections, after this tour you will have better understanding which part of its vast collection you'd want to explore more. Free activities for children are available every day and special workshops run during school holidays. Galleries are fully accessible. The building itself and the central court are beautiful (and beautifully lit in the evening). You should also not miss their Main Café, the world's oldest museum restaurant with its charming Victorian era design.

Had a brilliant time visiting the V&A in London. So much to see, learn and admire. Architecturally the place is stunning! I just wish I had more time to spend there and a camera to show it off. It's free to get in so a great way to spend without forking out. There is some exhibitions you need to pay for, but that's entirely your choice. Highly recommend to make the V&A a part of your stay in London

Kristyna D

Awesome place to visit. Tons of history to learn about and educate the new generation. The little one enjoyed every part especially the fashion portion. Facilities are always kept to the best possible standards.

An absolute highlight and ‘must see’ of any visit to London! It’s absolutely pregnant with wonderful rich art & even though I’ve been here at least half a dozen times I still enjoy it as much as I did when I first walked in its imposing entrance. That chandelier in the entrance! Sigh!! Great facilities, great everything & you can even do a night visit here which again is absolutely stunning. To top it all off, it’s completely free, gratis, yes, totally free.

This is really an amazing Museum, only meant to spend a few hours in here, but ended up doing 4, there's just so much to see and read about. It is not just a design museum, the Cast Court was amazing where the Victorians had Casts made of all the significant sites around the world and then reproduced them in a specially made court.

Alex

Could easily spend hours here looking at everything, great selection of art from across the world

An alternative museum. At first, I did not like the museum; when we visited it with my family and friends I thought it too chaotic, too many different expositions (antiquities, costumes, jewelry, furniture, etc) put together in one building. Now, when I analyze the pictures taken, I see that there are some interesting finds from the Ancient European cultures, that might have not had the right place in the British Museum. Nevertheless, this museum deserves only a one-time visit ...

William Humphreys

Really interesting museum, it is full up of different historical aspects of of different countries. As you walk in you get to explore a different world and learn about cultural differences. It was really interesting, I learned about different outfits, foods, religions etc… very good place to learn a bit of history

Lovely museum. Very well run and good security. I went to the temporary exhibition called "Curiouser and Curiouser", and it was expertly staged, with plenty of exhibits to keep you interested.

Fantastic place to visit , very wheelchair friendly ( smooth floors, plenty of toilets and lifts ) Great place to eat food is lovely, not cheap but delicious. Make sure you pick up a map as museum is massive , we spent 5 hours there and only covered a quarter , best decide what you want to see first.

MarceloLopes

Astonishing and Amazing Museum , next time I will spend more time to see all the Exhibitions , Marvelous!!!

Marina

Excellent place for learning European history! But some parts are too tiny for visitors and it’s risky during COVID-19

Katrina W

So much to see, not enough time so will just have to visit again. Great Faberge display with lots of interesting information. Loved it !

John Strylowski

So much to see you'll probably never get round, and how many surprises are there? A lot is the answer. Like? Like the jewellery gallery with the tiara that Prince Albert designed for Victoria, or the complete Kylie dressing room. Or the Thai Crown jewels or the cafe with its tiled interior and, sometimes, a pianist. Leonardo's notebook, William Blake paintings and complete interiors will also take your breath away. Try one of the free tours for a great introduction.

Stephen Bartlett

Faberge exhibition was amazing, although the layout at the beginning was very congested, so much to look at in the cabinets which causes bottlenecks. Enjoyed a lovely lunch in the members restaurant, however, when visiting the unisex facilities we noticed a male member of staff not washing his hands. Yuck.

The V&A is one of my favourite museums in London. It shows us aspects of everyday life through several ages of our history. It's great to understand oursocial history. I love the replicas of buildings, monuments, wooden facades, clothes and many other objects. Worth a visit. I've been at least 20 times.

Excellent place to visit. You will need best part of a whole day or at the very least 4 hours. Second floor contains an amazing collection of jewelry and gems.

The V&A captures my heart every time I visit, not only is it big but it houses one of the most varied sculptures, artifacts and exhibits London has to offer. We recently visited the Victoria & Albert Museum (free entrance), choosing to concentrate our efforts mainly on the European [Blue rooms on the V&A Map] Section. By focusing on targeted areas within the museum we were able to enjoy a comprehensive visit, while conserving our energy and not moving around from one end of the museum to the other to see certain highlights. Starting at the Medieval to Renaissance rooms on Level 0 and 1, as the museum opened at 10am, we proceeded to spend around 90 minutes viewing these gallery rooms as well as the nearby Raphael and Cast Court rooms, showcasing artefacts, sculptures, writings and other items from the Middle Ages, Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and Rocco periods. Items on display are spaced nicely and just lovely to inspect. Some of the decorative church doorways that have been reconstructed here are remarkable to look at. We then proceeded upstairs to the Britain galleries (1500-1760AD) on the second floor and (1760-1900AD) on the forth floor, followed by the Sculpture rooms (1300 - 1600AD) found back on the ground floor, near the gift shop. These sections required another 75 minutes to browse. The highlights included the splendid 'Great Bed of Ware’ collection and many of the sculptures seen in the The Dorothy and Michael Hintze Galleries (rooms 21-24). In the end, we found that concentrating our efforts on a smaller section of the museum had many advantages. We were able to visit sections of the V&A Museum that were most interesting to us personally and spend plenty of time, comprehensively looking over most of the collection in these galleries and rooms. We also didn't feel as tired due to not racing around the entire museum trying to visit selected highlights scattered throughout. Regardless of how you decide to visit the V&A museum, we highly recommend spending a bit of time getting to know about the museum prior to your visit. This will greatly enhance your experience when you are there. We also highly suggest paying the (£1 donation) and using the V&A brochure map to help navigate your way around. Other helpful tips for how to visit can be found on our previous review for the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Best place to understand a little bit of history and culture about various lineage around the world. David sculpture is so much massive than I expected, and the story about the artist and the statue was incredible. It's good to go with children, as it ignites the curiosity to learn about the monuments present here. Quiet and calm place best fit to go with a group of friends who have the same wavelength to get to know something new. It's my first visit here, and I felt that one full day is not enough to get to know everything presented here! Still decently managed to visit various sectors in this place.

An amazing museum with almost too much to see. Best to focus on a couple of areas to get most from visit.

One of London's most iconic museums. Its treasures traverse many cultures and civilisations: Western, Asian, Islamic, classic, medieval, and much more. You'll find realistic statues, paintings, sculptures, monuments, ancient textbooks, and breathtaking iron-coloured structures. The building itself has an amazing design and architecture. Make sure not to miss the Raphael Cartoons and the Sculpture Corridor; they were my favourite part. The Victoria and Albert Museum is located in the museums' zone alongside the Science and Natural History museums, making it easy to visit all of them on the same day during your trip to London.

Outstanding Medieval art, and the cast rooms are like traveling throughout Europe. The museum cafe is located in beautiful rooms designed by famous 19th century artists. One of the world's great museums, and admission is free.

If only I have more time - by far one of the best museums in London. It’s worth being a member here as the good exhibitions absolutely sell out and there are some you want to see again and again. A museum that take your breath away so much to see from almost the start of time to today's things and trends. It can take you back to your childhood and remind you of what you had and did such fond memories. Some of the artifacts are great to see and how people made them is really interesting. Absolutely superb. Went to see the Fabergé exhibition ... it was fabulous. The detail of the pieces is literally eye-watering.

Mengbing Xi

My favourite museum in London. It is a must visit whenever I’m hosting family or friends from abroad. The changing exhibitions are worth the money.

Christine Lillywhite

We went with children and I can say that the people working there most of them are super professional. One woman in particular, was specially nice, telling us about the jewels where the children could design their own ring, for example, or the theatre part where we could find clothes and disguises to try, and they had a workshop for families where you could stamp your very own shopping bag, to avoid using plastic ones, creating your own design. It was the cherry on top of the cake. For adults, the museum is highly recommended for the quality and amount of the things and how they are exposed.

Jonathan Gibbs

Definitely a very nice museum right next to the big boy of London. This was a last minute for us since it was our last day in London.

Beautiful museum, absolutely incredible exhibits! I'll definitely visit again one day! ???? When the cafe is incredibly busy, I'd recommend you first secure a table and THEN order any beverages to avoid disappointment. Members room lunch was amazing! Very accommodating for Veggies and not too pricey, Cauliflower steak was so yum. Kimono exhibition was wonderful - highly recommend everyone go before it ends on 24th of October. The curation was staggering, one of the best exhibitions I've seen at the Tate since the McQueen.

Vic Hibbert

A brilliantly curated collection of exquisite items of cultural heritage from around the world. The vastness is evident from its thematically divided sections, for Europe Asia etc. The design based temporary exhibitions are always a hit. The multiple cafes are always full of people. There's one with these lighted glass chandeliers which is like straight out of a movie. The stores themselves are special with many unique art objects. A truly moving experience and would recommend it to everyone. This museum is more about history than art, hence don't be put off if you find art boring. I couldn't do justice to this museum in 3 hours time. Will visit again. Many times.

Ari Aramesh

A must visit for any student of art, culture, and history. A magnificent jewel in the middle of London. Unfortunately the Stuart and Tudor eras were closed but much of the museum is still accessible to the public. At least give yourself three hours for a full visit because some pieces require much attention to detail. Make your plans. Visit the Victoria an Albert Museum in South Kensington.

Just a great place with a wide range of humanities finest examples of craftsmanship. It is genuinely incredible what we have managed to achieve. I am an atheist, but if anything good came from the brain dysfunction that is religion you would struggle to argue that it motivated people to produce incredible works of art that would have been a lesser version of themselves if the artist hadn't been motivated by their faith. From ironmongery to clothing and everything in between. If you haven't been you owe it to yourself to saturate your brain with what it has to offer at least once in your life.

Obviously too much for a single visit. Booked Alice in Wonderland exhibition. Great original drawings, posters & costumes from recent shows. Old movie footage which was great. Then there was the weird, wacky & frankly frightening such as the cat with a grin??? Eek! Good catering facilities for a snack, lovely cakes or a meal with lots of seating including a lovely outside water area.

Interesting exhibits but the descriptive captions for each item (medieval illustration manuscripts) could include more meaningful and memorable information: relevance of the manuscripts at the time, the importance and religious significance of the marginalia, the choice and value of the pigments and materials used, the sensual meaning and aspect of the manuscripts, their role as physical 3D objects. It would be a much more fulfilling and engaging experience if information were included that opens up meaningful discussions, questions or ideas.

Always exciting to visit due to new exhibitions ????

Always love a V&A visit. This one was to see the 'Curioser and Curioser' Alice in Wonderland exhibition. It did not disappoint...lots of historical exhibits and information about the author and illustrator. Parts of the exhibition were interactive...I would have liked more of a sense of changing dimensions in the spaces. I loved the VR experience.

What a fantastic place I have visited 3 rimes and still have not seen it all I will be going back again. It also has a nice cafe. A bit pricey but nice. Also a nice seating area outside. The jewellery section is amazing. Easy booking system online There was a little queue but very organised so not waiting long. Also lots of helpful guides sat all around the museum.

A powerful reminder that for centuries the human race, across cultures and civilisations, has produced countless masters in their craft- towering visionaries who created works of sublime intricacy and beauty, conceived, shaped and completed by the power of their unique aesthetic vision. Contrast with our modern culture, where talentless hacks and insufferably precocious teens tweet and tiktok their vapid opinions into the great toilet of the world wide web. Even worse, those people who believe they have a seat at the table with history's creative elite simply because they can string a few adjectives together in a Google maps review. Everything is vanity, saith the teacher.

Eugena Kumrija

Fantastic place, you need to spend longer the we did there, we went for the curiouser and curiouser exhibition.

The museum itself is a work of art. As we queued up to go inside, we admired the sculpted arches, columns, and window areas. It's notable that bombing damage from WWII has been preserved to show how close the museum came to being obliterated during the war, but I also think it's remarkable how often the Axis and Allies explicitly avoided destroying their enemies' cultural treasures. There is far too much inside the museum to take in, just in a single visit. We focused mostly on the medieval and Renaissance galleries, but there is much, much more to see. I think the most intriguing displays to me as an artist were the Cast Courts, which held casts or molds taken from original artworks (such as Trajan's Column in Rome, or Michealangelo's David) during the Victorian Era. These were brought back to England for artists to study, but also to help shape public tastes (for exple, so that the public could see what the real thing looked like and be more discerning in their artistic choices). We also enjoyed examining Leighton's murals on Peace and on War.

Mad busy despite advanced booking and allocated time slot. No one checking tickets. No one socially distanced and very few people wearing PPE despite signage to do so. Used to be one of my favourite museums pre COVID.

Excellent place to visit. Beautiful building and very well presented and looked after. You will need best part of a whole day or at the very least 4 hours in order to cover a good deal of the artifacts and displays available to enjoy. Second floor contains an amazing collection of jewelry and gems dating back to BC. There are some beautiful paintings from William Blake, Constable, Rembrant, etc. If you're in London this is a must. You have to book in advance as at the moment entry is restricted.

Dan Kenyon

Great museum! Covers all aspects of British design - buildings, furniture, cloths, tapestries, jewelry, cremitics, glass, silverware, stained glass, photography and more. Can spend several days wondering the different galleries. And it's free to get into, cost for special exhibits.

Matilde Zannin

The crystallization of art is worth visiting more than any museum, and the frequency of visits is about the same every month. The interior design is particularly unparalleled, the sense of light and shadow, the sense of design, exhibitions, especially clothing and architecture exhibitions, I really like

Angela Lau

Excellent series of collections, covering multiple cultures and ages. Paid exhibitions well worth the cost. A must see if you’re ever visiting London.

LUCILA SAMPAOLI

One of my favourite museums in London. The gift shop is a must to visit as well as the inner courtyard, where you can grab something to eat or a coffee. Overall the Architecture is stunning and there are so many hidden spaces inside that it’s worth a half-day visit.

Fantastic day out to see some amazing art. We went there couple of times with our 11 years son we all enjoyed it so much. Different exhibitions but we were most interested in the performance and drama section and the photography exhibition although I wish the photography collection would be bigger. All nice and smooth even with COVID restriction. Safe and strongly recommend for all age.

Great pieces of art exposed. Having 4 floors to visit it is impossible to see everything in one day. There is an exhibition of fashion through time which is quite interesting. The museum has a garden where you can enjoy a coffee and a snack. Very pleasant and relaxing, ideal to rest your feet in between admiring pieces by Michellangelo and being shocked by how evolved China was hundred of years B.C. Mask is required and it is a one way system in place.

I had a great time at this Museum, I was not expecting Michaelangelos David to be 17ft.. But really helps having a Museum geek with ya! It's liking having your own Tour guide!

Very traditional museum (in a good way). A broad collection of design and arts from across the globe. Highly recommended.

Noah Mann-Engel

This is probably my favourite London Museum. You have sculpture, paintings, tapestry, ceramics, fashion, mosaics... if it had to be designed, it's in the V&A They have also adapted to Covid, so you have to pre-book in advance (it's free for the general exhibition) and you might have to queue inside to enter some of the smaller rooms. But in general the rooms are so wide that social distancing is not really am issue here

Firuza Tabari

A historic, educational and fun day out in London. Even though the V&A is free to visit, it's worth checking out their upcoming exhibits that you need to pay for. I visited the Epic Iran exhibit in August 2021 and it was incredibly interesting. It's great for kids and there's also a cafe and a small garden in the centre of building.

Faberge exhibition was amazing, dont miss it! Wonderful coffee shop, great coffee delicious cakes , pianist and the most amazing Victorian tiled room

The place is just excellent! Outstanding for children, parents, artist, is just for anyone. All welcome! Spotless, clean, sophisticated and really nice. TOP 10 to visit in the UK. Clean Toilets, Buggy Parking, Children Changing Room, Disable Toilets, excellent food but really expensive £10 - 15 per person, but Food and Hygiene is on 5***** rating. Every single events is just well organized. It could not be better in terms of the location. This is at the the heart of the action, at Kensington which is next to Science Museum, close to the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park Corner and Excellent Restaurants.

Very Interresting museum, Lots to See about British history

Sachin Raje

The V&A is a museum that homes a very diverse collection of art, history, jewels, decor, architecture, and fashion. It is unlike the Tate museums but a museum with more “practical” art. The ambiance of the courtyard is really calm especially surrounded by the hydrangeas, their carrot cake is also 10/10.

Savan Gandecha

Loved this day out definitely need more than a day to see it all.

Amazing museum! I particularly enjoyed the ceramics, jewelry, furniture, and fashion displays. There’s lots to see for all ages with fashion, sculptures, paintings etc from medieval times and the occasional events currently Alice ‘curiouser and curiouser’ is on. Many to see around Islam (poetry contest too), China, Japan and Middle East. I loved the seating areas especially after the long walk. The centre garden was currently under constriction for some work around the cop26 event in November 2021.

The V&A is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in an area known as "Albertopolis" because of its association with Prince Albert, the Albert Memorial and the major cultural institutions with which he was associated. These include the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall and Imperial College London. The museum is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. As with other national British museums, entrance is free. The V&A covers 12.5 acres (5.1 ha)[5] and 145 galleries. Its collection spans 5000 years of art, from ancient times to the present day, from the cultures of Europe, North America, Asia and North Africa. However, the art of antiquity in most areas is not collected. The holdings of ceramics, glass, textiles, costumes, silver, ironwork, jewellery, furniture, medieval objects, sculpture, prints and printmaking, drawings and photographs are among the largest and most comprehensive in the world. The museum owns the world's largest collection of post-classical sculpture, with the holdings of Italian Renaissance items being the largest outside Italy. The departments of Asia include art from South Asia, China, Japan, Korea and the Islamic world. The East Asian collections are among the best in Europe, with particular strengths in ceramics and metalwork, while the Islamic collection is amongst the largest in the Western world. Overall, it is one of the largest museums in the world. Since 2001, the museum has embarked on a major £150m renovation programme. New 17th- and 18th-century European galleries were opened on 9 December 2015. These restored the original Aston Webb interiors and host the European collections 1600–1815.[6][7] The V&A Museum of Childhood in East London is a branch of the museum, and a new branch in London is being planned.[8] The first V&A museum outside London, V&A Dundee opened on 15 September 2018.[9]

The best part of the whole museum in my opinion was the renaissance and the cast court. The main purpose of visiting V&A museum was Epic Iran (exhibition for a limited time, until 12 September 2021) which it was realy a good news to have the opprtunity to see the ancient heritagr of the great emire of the Arya in London. I think could have been better by audio guide with persian translator and more diverse persian music and more diverse declamation of persian poems. The contemporary section was not satisfactory at all. The dedicated light was not enough. The absence of the Miniator art and musical instruments of Iran was felt. Also it could have been better if the DVD of the Epic Iran had been sold similar to its book.

Love SummerTime TV International. #Trending,

Lovely place to go. The plaster copies are impressive, and you get to see fantastic sights without having to travel around the world. My favorite part was the architecture section. It was full of impressive models and replicas, with comprehensive explanations and an all in all enjoyable experience. I love glass art, and I have to admit that I was not impressed by the contemporary glass art section, but the traditional glass art section was lovely. The stairs leading to the top floor fantastically mimicked the glass, and together with the level to ceiling mirror at the end of the room, you have the impression of entering some glass castle filled with art. The status may make one of the most extensive collections of the museum, but you will have a great time exploring some of the hidden away gems the place is filled with.

Sofia Gomezllata

We saw 2 fantastic exhibitions on Fabergé and Beatrix Potter. We also went to see 4 cities through Cresswell's lens (Aleppo, Baghdad, Cairo and Jerusalem) and were very disappointed. They were displayed behind glass and very poorly lit so that we couldn't see them very well at all.

Wanted to see Beatrix Potter exhibition but didn't realise it was half term down south so fully booked ???? it's far too big to see everything in 1 visit so probably best to pick a couple of floors or exhibits you're interested in. An excellent Saturday afternoon spent at the V and A museum. We booked free tickets about a week in advance for the museum. On arrival the reception and checking in process by the staff were both speedy and efficient. QR codes were used for both the entrance as well as to download the map of the museum. I would certainly recommend both the fashion exhibition as well as section which consists of casts of some very well known large sculpture pieces such as Michaelangelo's David and Trajan's columns, as well as numerous effigies of English Nobility from the late middle ages. Other exhibits we viewed included a section on Religious items which included both numerous stained glass and Chalices, Crosses, Patens and Reliques and other religious items. We spent an enjoyable and informative 3 hours touring the museum. We also visited the museum cafe situated in the courtyard on the ground floor. Although the offerings were limited it was certainly nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy a hot cup of coffee while taking a short break from all the exhibits. We shall certainly be returning in the near future to view the rest of the exhibits that time did not allow us to see, first among which is the Jewelry exhibition which was extremely busy when we tried to visit.

I love this museum. I haven’t been here since before COVID lockdown and it is as amazing as before. You can never get tired of exploring and learning about all the exhibits here. There are slight changes to getting in. Even though mainly the museum is free (this is why I love the London, where they make art and museums free so everyone can enjoy and experience great pieces of art), you have to book a timed ticket to enter. Just go on the website and choose a suitable time and date (I do miss just turning up and explore, but hopefully we can do that soon again). And turn up about 15mins before your time. The entrance is now from Exhibition Road (see photo) and they will scan your ticket barcode (on your phone or if you printed it out.) All COVID safe and staff are always helpful if you need it. Everyone should really go and explore the V&A. Forget about using a map once you’re inside, just get lost and find something new, I always do. Don’t miss the Cast Courts and the Jewellery room as my favourites (also the pottery floor, I won’t tell you where it is, but follow my top tip and you won’t go wrong????.) My top tip, take the lift to the top of the museum and work your way down without using a map. You will come across many wonderful things. (Some of the upper floors are closed due to COVID. This includes the lifts at the main entrance)

Pretty much all museums get 5 stars from me, especially ones in London as so many of them are totally free. But the architecture section on the third floor sealed the deal. I only made it through 20%? of the collection in four-ish hours, so you'll need a good few days but it's free! So visit as often as you need to. And the interactive elements of this museum set it apart. All the quizzes and little activities keep things fresh and really help all the info sink in more. Soooo worth multiple visits honestly.

simon grimes

This was the first time I'd been to V&A, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The exhibitions are varied, and immensely interesting. One this you must see if you go is a collection of original Chippendale and Beatrix Potter drawings - fascinating! The building itself is a marvel, well worth the visit just for that. It's a shame that the paid exhibits are so expensive - we didn't bother with them, as it was about £13 a head! Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and look forward to going again.

Fantastic museum for art and architecture lovers. Vast collections from all over the world arranged by area and time of creation. All situated in beautiful building that is a real piece of art itself. Free admission to regular collections and many seasonal exhibitions to choose from (paid extra). In the summer most parts of the building stay cool which is great after a ride in tropical-like underground. In the winter you can avoid cold by using the tunnel connecting the museum directly with the nearby South Kensington tube station. Good choice of souvenirs in museum shop in reasonable prices compared to most of London museums. Very elegant restaurant is located on ground floor, as well as indoor and outdoor cafés.

Although the AIW exhibition has an additional cost, it is perfectly possible to spend a day here for free, there is lots to see without spending any cash. The building itself is glorious, there is not many better ways to spend an afternoon than enjoying a coffee in the courtyard on a sunny day. The Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V&A) in London is the world's largest museum of applied and decorative arts and design, as well as sculpture, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects. The V&A is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in an area known as "Albertopolis" because of its association with Prince Albert, the Albert Memorial and the major cultural institutions with which he was associated. Visited today specifically for the Fabergé exhibition which was stupendous. So great to get an insight into the history and development of tge workshops. It was truly amazing to see the confined nature of the working conditions which were no doubt considered to be "state of the art" at the time. The short demo video on the engine turning technique and enamelling process made the finished objects all the more wondrous.

One of the most impressive museum in London, You first sight will be massive victorian building with great decoration, the staff is quite friendly and helpful. The entrance hall is huge high ceilings with modern colored glass chandelier. The cast hall is great, you can see the copies of several famous monuments around Europe (mostly Italy), such as Trajan Column, Basilica entrance frame, copy of David and lot more. Other parts of museum also has historic rooms panel from many historical place like Norfolk house music room for instance, and so many things to see. The porcelain gallery is great, they have all kinds of porcelain from around the world display and for study purposes. You may spend whole day in this museum, so you may interest to visit their ornate decorative cafe in the museum and walking in the court garden.

A lots of gems. Consecutively, this museum is updated according to seasonal and thematic events. It's amazing that we can visit here for free. You'd better stay tuned with latest news emailed by the musieum. Lastly, your donation to the meusium is appreciated in order that this amazing places lasts for good.

James Ross

This place is magical, one of the best museums of any kind I've ever been too anywhere in the world. Well worth the price, and you could spend all day here just looking at the Japanese arts collection

Lori LP

Museums in London are free. Special exhibits have a fee. If you’re not super interested in the exhibit that is there during your visit, don’t feel you’ll miss out on something spectacular if you don’t see it. The museum is full of spectacular, amazing things at every turn and almost impossible to absorb and see everything during one visit. Also the staff are super helpful and kind. Great place to spend the day!

Paulene Wilcock

Interesting exhibits, especially good if you're interested in asian exhibits or sculptures/casts.

Chun Yin Cheung

Amazing just go. Weather permitting have coffee and cake in the central garden with the pool to soak up the atmosphere. Pricey of course as in all of these places but not forgetting it is free entrance which more than makes up for it. I always make a donation too.

Been here quite a few times over the years. Went earlier today to visit the 'Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser' exhibition. It was brilliant, a great time exploring and l learnt a lot more about the world of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Kevin Bristow

The most incredible and fascinating museum I have ever visited. The artwork, jewellery, furniture, clothing, statues e.t.c is stunning. The most fascinating item was John Constables painting the study for the "Hay-Wain" I never realised this existed, you learn something every day. The museum will have you memorised and you will almost need two days to have a really good look around. Nice cafes and pleasant staff. A good bid of advice you must visit the Morlaix spiral staircase and landings made out of solid oak and is located towards the rear of museum but you will need to ask for directions, this is truly incredible.

charlotte fink

Great Museam. We went for the Fabergé exhibition which was absolutely amazing, but was also impressed with countless halls of free exhibits to explore. You can spend a good couple of hours here.

Chris Olley

Beautiful victorian era museum, as interesting for the history as the exhibits

Lynda Corry

We were very sad that this museum is NOT ACCESSIBLE TO ALL. A very disappointed child and myself found out we could not see the Alice in Wonderland exhibition, which was guarded from those who didnt pay and book, but well advertised and with plenty of merchandise just to rub it in :( We could however gain entry that day if we signed up as a member and paid £100! With the amount of people visiting the museum, surely a few pounds fee (if at all) would make it be possible to run. The museum itself was beautiful, spotless and well laid out. A little boring after a while for little ones so would benefit from a trail or similar. Adults could perhaps live with a fee paying area, but it's not fair on children who visit.

Al Casa

I didn't get to see the whole museum but the European exhibit was really impressive, especially if you enjoy medieval religious artifacts and artwork. The inner court yard is a great place to take a coffee or snack break if it's a nice day. Give yourself half a day if you plan on going there.

Martina Salvatore

Beautiful building. Large museum 6 floors. Can spend there few days, will not be enough. Very friendly helpful staff. Many interesting things to see, especially I like costumes.

Gheorghe Coscodan

Visited the Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser exhibition and it was wonderful! Plenty to see - we were in there for roughly 2 hours. Only 4* because the room with the VR experience had only two headsets working! Very long wait (up to 30-40 mins). Overall, had a wicked time and would defo recommend.

Stella G

Went to see the Faberge exhibit (no photos were allowed) which was a bit crowded, went with a member so also had breakfast in the members room!! V&A is always a beautiful experience.

Martin Futter

Always love visiting this wonderful building. You are transformed into another world the moment you arrive. The exhibitions are amazing as well as all the other exhibits displayed throughout.

Colleen Ryan

Visited specifically for the Faberge exhibition. Lots of interesting history captured as well as seeing so many beautiful examples themselves. Access was with timed entry tickets but despite this the layout of the exhibition did not facilitate a seamless flow through of attendees, meaning that there was a queue once through the entry door. A little more thought is needed perhaps when such exhibitions are set out at the planning stage.

I came here Friday to see the Alice in wonderland exhibition. I pre arranged a guide to take me around too and to take photos a few days before. Coming to the V&A I had Laura meet me outside the museum, who was so lovely , upon making my way to see the exhibition there was an entry technicalities. Being autistic I did not know when buying an entry to the V&A . You had to buy another. It was not explained very well on website. Plus being autistic we sometimes have trouble processing information and understanding it. So here's me thinking the worse and I've traveled an hour and half only to find i can't see the exhibition. Laura went away to find another colleague about getting me a ticket to see the exhibition. She came back 5 mins later with said colleague ( never asked her name ) and Laura said we be able to get you a ticket today. Feeling relieved. The young lady ( same colleague who name i forget to ask) said here's a ticket. I was like thank you. I was about to pay for it. And she said free charge. I was like are you sure . She said yes , you enjoy you visit. The kindness of humans and empathy. I never expected a free ticket. Moving on I had a wonderful guide to assist me around the exhibition..her name was Caroline. She was wonderful too. She took photos and we chatted she made me feel very at ease and very comfortable. Caroline even took me to the shop to get a Alice in wonderland print and frame..than assisted me to lunch and we chatted more. As a person with Autism / adhd and a hidden disabilities. The V& A go above and beyond for those with disabilities be that hidden ones too. The thought that went into planning of me arriving. I have never known such a wonderful place with rare humans who go out there way to makes us ( autistic folk) feel welcomed and at ease and comfortable. Thanks to Laura / Caroline / and the other young lady who insisted I have a free ticket due to the entry technicalities. And to all the staff at the V&A . I am an autistic blogger and I mentioned these wonderful people and the museum. If your autistic or have a disability. The V&A will look after you from start to finish. I be back for more exhibitions and will be donating. Hoping to have Caroline again when I re visit. One very happy customer

My favourite museum in London, I pop in every time I visit and I still haven't seen it all! Allegedly only 500,000 out of its 2,000,000 item are on display, but if you browse through the online catalogue, you might even request to view some of the precious objects in storage. Would love to try that!

Jonathan Bell

Amazing day out for all ages. Make sure you plan ahead, vast area to cover

Sean Humby

Absolutely full of a huge variety of artefacts from all over the planet. Description are great and you really get a sense of the extent of the British empire and the good and bad that it did. On reflection the displays show how the establishment have always profited at the expense of others

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum as it is not really one of the premier museums in London but it has to be one the best to visit as a tourist and a regular Londoner. The exhibits were great, so diverse and vast. The lighting was amazing and the background to each hall was so mesmerising. If you are in London, I would definitely recommend going to this museum!

Lovely museum just wonderful if you're into history and even if you aren't you'll still enjoy yourself. So many artefacts and clothes and ornaments and etc to look at and learn about. Beautiful architecture and colours that make the museum look beautiful inside. Great place to visit!

Moran Raviv

Is appalling the way you have to book tickets for it. The normal way would be to turn up! As we have done all our lives Thanks to a friend who came to the rescue with a smartphone we could get in. Once inside it was not well signaled and kept getting lost......it spoiled the trip. Then had two drinks and the prices in the cafe were exorbitant!

Christiana “Kenny” Adedoyin

One of the best things about the V&A museum is that there is very seldom a long queue to get in! Make sure you have plenty of time as there is LOTS to see! Besides the spectacular building itself there are amazing life size reproductions of some of the most famous statues and places from around the world.

The V&A is a wonderful museum. It is easy to get from the tube station at Waterloo. It is a marvellous place to visit, so much to look at. I would advise anybody visiting to give themselves plenty of time. If you want to have a meal there is a beautiful cafe, the old cafe and the new, stunning. The food is good and reasonably priced. The map is well laid out, if you want to see everything, start at the top and work down. All together a brilliant place to visit.

Peter Salem

An incredible museum with a hugely varied selection of exhibitions. From the dawn of known human history to contemporary design collections, there is something for everyone inside the beautifully designed and organized building. Must visit for museum lovers when in London.

Sierra C

Lots of beautiful colonized art works as well as a wide variety of others. I particularly enjoyed the photography and jewelry sections. As well as casts of famous sculpture. Staff are friendly but not great at directing to specific displays or areas.

A little trip to the V&A goes a long way. The 'Fabergé in London: Romance to Revolution' exhibition runs from now until May 2022. A reminder that whatever is happening in the world, creatives and artisans never stop working. - - - Instagram: daps.photographic

Went for the romance to revolution Faberge exhibition. Stunning. Would have appreciated being able to buy a guide to the exhibition but all I could find was a huge £38 coffee table book so had to settle for a postcard pack.

Simply one of the best museums in the world. A world class collection spanning cultures, continents and every medium imaginable. Easy to spend hours viewing the free collections and still only scratch the surface. Highlights are the Buddhist, South Asia and Japan collections. Highly recommended

Geoff Higginbottom

Outstanding range of cultural inspiration for 1 museum. A must for anyone and everyone.

Henry Mottesheard

This is the place to bring your kids when they've been naughty. It's a beautiful building packed full of amazing art and antiques, and it's just over the road from both the Natural History Museum with its dinosaurs, and the Science Museum with its buttons. You'll find that after just a couple of hours in the V&A looking at pots, and with the threat of another visit hanging over them, children will walk, not run, and be please and thank you-ing all over the place. But for adults this is a great place. The cafe and plaster rooms are some of the most impressive rooms in London. Both plaster rooms are now open again after being closed for years, for cleaning & maintenance. It's amazing what they've done with a step ladder and a cotton bud.

If you only have the opportunity to visit one museum whilst in London, make it this one - it's an absolute must see. If you have an interest in fashion, fabrics or art then this is the museum for you. We spent two and a half hours in here, and it wasn't long enough. Like most London museums entry is free of charge, although you can make a voluntary contribution - although a couple of exhibitions need to be pre-booked and paid for.

Went most recently for the Curious & Curiouser exhibit. 10 stars. Warning: there will be a long wait for the VR experience- it wasn't to my tastes but I forgot to wear contacts & couldn't see anything without my glasses (learn from my mistakes)! Otherwise it was a brilliant experience. Well worth the price and the hassle of a journey to South Ken.

Must see, must-visit for anyone interested to see art, history, culture, craft, fashion, pop culture exhibition displays. The list goes on and on. It's an absolute must-see in London and it will take a week or two to see all the beautiful displays this museum has to offer. This Museum is one of a kind with top-notch curated exhibitions.

I love it! Very interesting and a lot more quieter than Natural History Museum and Science museum. I feel it's more "grownup". It took 4hours just to see the ground floor and I feel like I've rushed thru some rooms ????.

My favourite art museum in London! There is a mixture of modern and traditional pieces: a little something for everyone. I would recommend getting a map on entry, then deciding which sections and floors you want to see, as it is a very big museum. It wasn't busy when we went, however it might be in public holidays, so be careful.

I found the museum to be a bit of a bore. The sculpture exhibit was beautiful, but the fashion part was very mediocre and quite run of the mill. I expected much more from such a famous museum that is so well known for this. Maybe this was just us, but I booked entry tickets ahead of time and when we came in there was no one to check. Could have saved the trouble of ordering tickets ???? Lastly, Cafe is very over crowded. Could definitely use more staff during rush hour

I recently visited London for a few days and went to look around the 3 major museums including this one, British Museum and Natural History. This one was by far the most interesting. It will easily take half a day to see it in entirety. The 'cast room' is must see due to the scale of the sculptures! (Photo Below)

Not very child friendly as on a few occasions when I have visited it there were no children friendly activities/ exhibits/ food dishes/ portions. Not eating customers friendly either as per the extremely expensive food! £12 for one portion of mixed salads with bread!? Very expensive museum shop too. The seating area outside is lovely, plenty of beautiful flowers to take delight in and really nice and breezy/ cooling on a hot summer day. Went to see the handbag exhibition. Must admit I would of liked to have seen more of a selection of bags. But nice trip down memory lane. Dissapointed in the service in the shop. Queued to make purchase, 2 cashiers working both with long transactions. Several staff standing around. Would of been nice if they had lent a hand rather than just shouting at queue to move behind each other. Consequently I didn't make a purchase after that. Thought stores were needing customers. Everyone was queuing sensibly I might add.

What an amazing place. Stunning building and great exhibits thoughtfully presented. My favourite sections were fashion and jewellery. Bit disappointed that some sections were closed but the museum is so big there was still too much to see in one visit. The cafe is beautifully located and a great place to rest those 'museum legs' before heading off to explore some more. Shop was huge and I expected to do some serious spending but sadly nothing took my fancy. Only downside was the none existent welcome on arrival plus lack of direction and interaction from staff/docents.

There is nowhere else on earth like the V&A...it is magnificent, fascinating, glorious, amazing . The sheer quantity and quality of the exhibits is awe inspiring . The Epic Iran exhibition and the Alice through the looking glass exhibitions were brilliant examples of the stunningly curated and exceptional quality of museums ability to present glorious artifacts with such style and imagination. This, for me, is the most comprehensive, beautiful Museum in the world and has so many diverse and exquisite items displayed in such a glorious way that you would need weeks just to see all of them properly. This visit, I focused on mainly costumes glass jewelry, mosaics, glass ancient artifacts and photographed some from each section. When you go, look up their catagories and plan which ones to visit as you are instantly overwhelmed by all the beauty that assails your eyes that you are liable to stagger around agog! This, on reflection is another good way to see the museum, it's fun and very random! You choose! Don't forget to visit the incredible indoor restaurant, it's so beautiful and the stained glass windows and lighting in this vaulted room will be such a treat, as well as the food! Sit in the outdoor seating area if it's a nice day and enjoy the courtyard water pool, it's very calming to gaze at the pool and the magnificent surrounding buildings. A picture says a thousand words so here are some if my photos.Enjoy!

A fabulous British institution, so many wonderful exhibits and exhibitions, from here and around the world, with so many stories to tell. This is the second year that I have been gifted a membership, which allows free entry into exhibitions, and use of a very pleasant members room, where one can have have tea, coffee, cakes and other food. Unfortunately they have decided that sandwiches should no longer be on their menu, so if you don't want cake, their are only salads in a box, rather small and not very filling.

Visited for the first time ever with the kids, wife and nephew (7, 9, 44 and 18). They weren't happy to go in, but once inside they loved it. All the statues and furniture, the clothing, suits of armour, the paintings. Really amazing!!! The is a good place to come and Visit to learn a little bit of history from different cultures. Hard to try and follow a smooth transition from place to place with going back on yourself but layout of design was good. At times information over load however interactive screens definitely help with alleviating some of the worries. Staff located at key areas to help if needed, there is a gift shop and cafe on site. It is free to enter the place with exception to specific events which come at a fee

Fantastic museum with amazing collections - and free. One possible area of improvement is making the place easier to navigate via a one-directional recommended path. A place where all cultures and countries, ???? diamonds and weapons, ???? art and design of all centuries and countries are in one place (it represents more than 3,000 years of human creativity)! This place will charm you with it’s architecture and interior design! If you like more architecture and history then the right level to start your way will be the first floor but if you like more ???? art or design, then the right floor to start will be from the top floor! The museum if free of charge, just few of events carry a separate charge, for example: Dior and Mary Quant which are one of the most unique exhibitions and if you are for the first time in London then you must visit this place! By the way, what about Buddhism? Or maybe you prefer more a Samurai than Buddha ????? Or maybe both...? Get ready to dive into the Asia’s surprising culture and it’s unbelievable full of colours history. This and many more cultures you will find inside... just bear in mind that if you want to see the whole museum with all of it’s beauties and exhibitions then you will need at least 2 full days! After a long busy day the best place to go will be a nice cafe at the back of the museum in a nice garden where meals, coffees, teas and prossecos are served! Think this will be a nice end of the day! I definitely recommend this place to everyone and any age????!

David Stell

Indeed a great treat for museum lovers ... Need ample time to visit every hall at leisure. 3+ hrs min needed. The way these are managed and maintained is just excellent and exceptional... Kudos to the staff and management for this wowwww experience. Seriously so much to see from different cultures from the world. I liked the Japanese section where so many new facts I learned which I was not aware about the Japanese history and Japan. Similarly you can explore , enjoy and learn many more things provided you have a zeal and patience ... All the best and enjoy. PS pl don't forget to check the website and calendar for any special events or exhibitions happening.. (those might have entry tickets)

What a absolutely brilliant and magnificent museum! Up there with the rest of Europe's brilliant museums. Lots of space to walk so not crowded z serves food . Nice outside Garden and lots to see. Worth a visit.

Victoria Hill

I love Museums and a lot of my reviews are from them, but this museum was one of the most amazing places I have ever seen, it feels like a warehouse of art, the pieces here are so nice that you want to get a close look, the place is huge and the time it takes to look around is more than a few hours, so go early! I enjoyed the large pieces of history here, the way they organize and plan it is fun, you get lost easily as this place gets a bit confusing if you don't keep a map!

Terry Davidson

There can’t be many more spectacular places to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee then the main café at the V&A museum. Said to be the worlds oldest museum restaurant the period rooms are just amazing and I sat there for ages just gazing at the walls and the ceiling. There is a piano there as well, so our refreshments were accompanied by a talented pianist twinkling away. As the museum is free admission, there is no need to visit the museum to come and have coffee or tea and the prices are pretty comparable with the normal High Street chains selling coffee locally.

Kris Williams

This museum is an absolute gem! I would return to London to spend many more hours here. There’s definitely more to see than I had time for, but I truly enjoyed everything I saw including the Roman sculptures, fashion, jewelry, John Constable landscapes, Rafael cartoons, and stained glass. And the café is phenomenal, as many people mentioned. The food was incredible, with many options, teas and coffee. I thought it was really interesting that my sister went to the Natural History Museum next-door, which she said was incredible, but also very crowded with lots of groups of school kids. She said that made the Natural History Museum noisy and a bit chaotic, so if you want a more adult experience, the Victoria & Albert museum is a great choice!

Nuria Gonzalez-Candia

You will probably come here as an alternative to the science museum but let me tell you, the exhibitions and collections will not disappoint. The food is at another level all together, thinking we would get a dry sandwich and being blown away was truly nice. Easily accessible for prams and wheelchairs and to be enjoyed by old and young alike.

Janis Inwood

Probably the best museum in South Kensington... the nations 'attic'... it's got so much to see including a life size Michelangelo's David which was a gift to Queen Victoria. There's so much to see it takes more than one visit. There's also a nice outdoor cafe in the quad garden for coffee, cold drinks & more...

Linda

Great thing to do on a wet day and it's free entry. It's got exhibitions of ancient history, fashion, jewellery, theatre, art etc. The jewellery section was my favourite - it was fascinating to see how it has evolved Fe ancient times to now. The museum was wonderfully laid out and easy to navigate. I would also recommend getting tea and a Alice of cake in the cafe!

S H

This is a most remarkable museum, covering such a diverse range of items. The only gripe is the 'wayfinding' is absolutely dreadful and the furniture section, far too small. They should have a £2 collection box and each person required to donate. Would raise £8m per year. If the churches and cathedrals can do it, so can museums.

Cristina Roldan

Lovely museum. Large selection of exhibits some if which you need to pay for. Large food hall selling a variety of snacks and meals. Outdoor space with drinks kiosk. A beautiful building, lots to see. Well worth a visit.

Matthieu Papahagi

Purchased the membership so all exhibitions are free. Dont recommend the members room, but the other coffee areas are lovely. So far see the Handbags, Alice & Fabergé . Fabergé has other objects, not many eggs, they we just at the end. For us this was a bit disappointing. But so much other stuff yet to see.

A very nice museum. Can't finish in 1 day. Need about 2 days unless one would zoom thru. Many room, 3 floors. Loved it.

I absolutely love the fashion exhibitions at the museum!!!

First visit to this place today and I'm almost lost for words! We are so lucky to have this museum in London and it is free to enter. You could easily spend a good four hours there and want to return the next day! Every time you turn your head, you just keep saying WOW in your head! Well worth a visit!

Incredible meusum, the best meusum I've ever been to...

Mostafa Safaie

We are members. Despite no availability showing online we risked chancing a ticket for the Fabergé exhibition. Arrived at 3pm (Sunday) and got in straight away. The exhibition itself was superb. Stunning objects beautifully presented and contextualised in their history. The final room with the Romanov eggs was magnificent. Simple cases, beautiful music not distracting from the stunning artifacts.

Jen Isaac

The Museum is amazing for the large number of artworks disposed on 4 floors. The architecture is beautiful, is a pleasure to walk inside. Some exibition are added during the year, and very well disposed, with a dedicated little shop to keep with you a gift from the experience. I truly recommend.

Rachael S

Too large and brilliant ????????????, full of stolen things????????, needed three hours

Sarah Morgan

Fantastic collection and location. Free and varied. It will take you hours to go through all the invaluable beauties gathered here in the numerous thematic exhibition rooms. Do take your time to go from basement to the very last floor. It is well worth it.

Rhys Canning

It was my first time there and loved it. There's so much to see you can easily spend an entire day there. I spent a few hours going through the Buddhist, Chinese, Japanese, South Asian and Middle Eastern collections and it feels like I barely scratched the surface. Absolutely recommended!

A fantastic museum. Definitely one of the best in London, I definitely recommend going. There is a wide variety of exhibits and all of them are interesting. There are some interactive elements but mostly just displays. The displays are wonderful though and there seems to be no end to them. You can lose a whole day here.

Love all the temporary exhibitions I've seen so far.

Really great museum, friendly helpful staff, well maintained and so much to explore - actually quite amazing that it's a free to enter museum!

Mihkar Majeed

Superb! Stunning building, awesome exhibits and I am pretty sure that even the stuff you think you won't like, will grab your attention leaving you wanting more! Oh and give yourself a long day, knowing that still won't be enough! Enjoy!

Ms Blake

One of London's best museums of world culture. You'll have everything from South East Asian cultures including Chinese, Korean and Japanese artefacts along with Middle Eastern objects from various empires of the ages. The lifesize replica of Michelangelo's David is one of the most awesome objects on display.

Andy Barber

Free entry (but please make a donation) to a wonderful Victorian building instigated by Prince Albert. Massive collection - you could easily spend the whole day in this museum - reasonably priced café with seatin inside and outside in the beautiful quadrangle. Handbag exhibition on at the moment for a fee. Great jewellery section and fabulous 18 Rodin sculptures/bronzes. The cast section is impressive - has a cast of Trojan's column! A must visit section of the museum.

French Rose Tintd

We thoroughly enjoyed our half-term trip to V&A. The Alice in Wonderland exhibition was pre-booked and so much fun. There was an interactive white rabbit trail for the children, original works, movies to enjoy and really cool lighting effects. We enjoyed a bit of sunshine in the stunning courtyard with our lunch. Great day out!

There is too much to enjoy. One day is not enough to enjoy all place. If you love history, please don't go here. You will be stuck, and I can give you a guarantee you don't have enough time to enjoy everything in detail. :)

One of the best museums in London, definitely worth visiting, staff are so nice and informal, and you can see antiques from all over the world, there is a nice cafe where you can sit outside or inside. It is by booking only now but it was so easy to find slots. It is free entry but you can add a donation.

patsy vincent

I love the beauty of its architecture, the cafeteria is a place to go to even if you are not hungry. We enjoy the museum in general with so many salons of different interests that is pleasing to all ages and tastes. Worth going and the best part: IS FREE!!!! and if you have enough time go across the street and visit the beautiful building of the Natural History Museum

Chris Papadopoulos

One of the best museums in London! 100% must see. Amazing courtyard where you can drink your coffee and just relax. Great place with kids for playing in pool, don't forget clothes for kids to change after pool.

Evie

Visited the Fabergé exhibition, a wonderful 2hrs lost in admiration of the craftsmanship on around 200 items. The highlight was the last room with a fabulous display of imperial Easter eggs.

I visited this place, and was glad I did. First of all, I went to their restaurant, then I went exploring. Then I saw glass windows of jesus, and his mother Mary which was fab. I also saw some buried …

Some brilliant rooms - the cast rooms with replicas of the statue of David and other enormous jaw dropping sculptures and statues and monuments - it was worth coming for these alone. The jewellery room was also fantastic and so was the new Design exhibit. The Buddhism / Japan / Korea rooms didn’t wow me - felt stale, just walls of items in glass cabinets. Also Buddhism was located next to the entrance so was extremely noisy. The shop could be improved, the range wasn’t amazing. They only had items relating to certain exhibitions. I love gift shops and I didn’t buy a single thing. Worth a visit to this museum along with the National history museum next door.

Always a good experience. Loveley Canova, Rodin sculptures, viewed Raphael cartoons, they seem to look better. Maybe they underwent restoration work. Then great lunch, before it got busy. Lemon cream macaroons to die for ????????????????

Second time I have been there a d enjoyed it even more. Managed to see the ground floor area which was interesting and worked out clearly. Not as busy as natural history science museums so able to look around without being jostled

Lucy Quarrier

A great museum took me 4 hours to visit. Shows the room from past Victoria period and other United Kingdom dynasty. Also exhibition painting, statue and huge artwork. Otherwise, also display other destination artwork of the world, like clothes, carpet, Buddha statue and so on. If walk tired, you can have afternoon tea there(cause so many people want relax, you need to wait to order). I ate one scone and order one earl grey tea in the cafe shop. One piece scone is really huge and soft???? Anyway, I had great time there.

Matthew Thompson

Gem of a place and museum. It has some very interesting collections with a slightly different twist on some of the usual shows that one might hope to see in other museum installations. I was really impressed with the kimono exhibition and also with current guidance how they are ensuring that others are maintaining distance + wearing masks etc.

Karel S

It's free but book online for a time slot, saves queuing at busy times. Need at least 3-4 hours if you want to see most of the exhibition, some exhibit areas are closed so if you want to see something special, check beforehand. Had a great afternoon.

Caz

Hello London I have missed you. It was great to go back. This museum is full of beautiful things. We saw the handbags, clothing and jewellery exhibitions. I can't wait to go back another time.

David Mc

I really enjoyed the V&A… seeing all the people mill about the exhibits and basking in the glorious sunlight outside made me feel so happy ☺️ my favourite exhibit was ‘1900–Now’… If only it had been a little bit bigger! ???? also, rapid response collecting is a really cool collections development strategy! ???? I think I will read more about it (rapid response collecting, that is) on my own time!

Morgan

This was fabulous, I thought they could have used magnifying mirrors gor smaller exhibits but I loved the social context given

S Hafeez

Amazing! Wow! V&A hits the spot magnificently. My 4 and 7 year old boys were captivated for 3 hours. Still talking about the trip weeks later. Will go again soon.

Very nice museum. A lot of history.

Antonio Isaac de Abreu

An interesting museum with some nice historical artifacts, and a lot of pieces collected from across the globe. The highlight is without a doubt their set of reproductions of interesting classical sculptures and buildings like Michelangelo’s David. Really interesting to see, definitely see why this is name one of the top sites in Britain along with the British Museum (which I highly recommend).

Patricia Curia

I visited just after it reopened after lockdown. Everyone (including members) currently needs to pre-book a ticked dor a timeslot to visit the museum. If you also want to visit an exhibition while you are there you need to book separate tickets for that too (unlike before the pandemic members now need to prebook for exhibitions in addition to museum entry). The Natural History Museum opposite includes museum entry with their exhibition tickets which is a bit easier than getting separate tickets. The Museum wasn't too crowded, and as it was the annual members week, I could pick up my free tote bag.

macedonboy

Great special exhibits about fashion and other topics. Great collections on other topics from all over the world. Easy to locate sections. Friendly assistants. Free but donations are welcome and needed. Close to Natural History Museum. Cafe is beautiful.

Lush Lush

Absolutely amazing. Can’t believe I hadn’t gone earlier. Highly impressive exhibits staffed with knowledgeable people. Highly significant artefacts curated sympathetically which really stole my attention throughout. Wear soft soles, the floor is very hard.

Great place to Visit. And Now it is for free. Allot of History artefacts and amazing Collection of Bone Structures from the past History.. Also has a Darwin theory Display, of how Mankind started, but that is extra cost. Nice for all ages..but the children will all be amazed with all the Mosnter Dinosaur collection. Good snack bar places and cafe Bars. Take your time as it is very very Big. Next to it is the Science Museum also.

Very nice ! I had seen maharaja Ranjit Singh's golden throne there and his royal dress. Historical jewelry asian clothes and sword everything. But at the very first I had seen the naked statues. I know it have it's own beautiful and meaning. I had also seen Hindu god and goddess antique statues. There are also many other cultures present there. Blessed to have those moments ????

It was breath taking. I am the sort of person who loves art in any form, may not know a lot but I know beauty when I see it. The art, the decor of the place was beautiful. It's a place I advise going yourself or with someone as passionate as yourself. This is a place that every little thing needs to be captured or else you are missing out.

A huge and superb collection of art and design, a must see for anyone visiting London. Given that it is free entry for most of the exhibits on show it is worth making several trips as it is easily reached from South Kensington underground station and focus on one or two specific sections at a time as the amount of items you can see can be a touch over whelming.

Cristian Navarro

The most Wonderful Museum ever, i went there twice for at least several hours each time and it was not enough time. Be prepared to be amazed, and get ready to walk about for hours whenever you can take a break at one of the 3 tea saloons. They are beautiful and the tea goes perfect with some scones or muffins. As a recommendation start from at ground 0 and walk your way up. Trust me when i tell you, you'll be pleasantly amazed about the different galleries and abundance of displays. From underwater until the space, everything is in this museum. So take your sweet time, enjoy and be wondered at every step. Check the jewerls gallery and the gold ans silver galleries, my favorites

M W

Not been since I was 16, but the beauty of the objects held within the V&A are breathtaking - this visit was to see the Stormtrooper in the Theatre and Stage department and getting around to the right floor was frustratingly difficult and I'm usually brilliant at navigating, but this Museum will put your skills to the test. Make sure you have all day to see everything

fatime sadykova

Quite simply one of the best and most important museums in the world. A treasure trove of exquisite and priceless objects - all beautifully curated. I love how the V&A only selects the best of objects to make sense of an artistic movement or a specific time in history. The building itself is a work of art and a treat to wander around for as long as you wish. Although their special exhibitions are extraordinary (for which there is a fee), the permanent collection though is just a joy to experience and free of charge. A phenomenal privilege to witness and clearly curated and maintained with love and compassion. Go and experience it - again and again if you can.

Much has been written and discussed about the museum, not much to add. One of the best museums I’ve ever seen. The museum is open till late on Friday. However, many galleries were closed to visitors, don’t know for what reasons. I missed the painting gallery at the top floor, as the entire gallery was closed. I felt 2-3 best galleries in the museum are: (1) photography gallery - great collection, a time sequence arrangement, which helps an amateur like me to understand the evolution. Many rare and early photographs of mid-19th century are fascinating. Evolution of photographic equipments also is quite educational. (2) South Asian gallery - being from that region, it was great to see artifacts related to Tipu, Ranjit Singh ji, and quite a few paintings from the east India during Alivardi and Siraj. I loved the cafe, and someone playing the piano there. I wished it had some more English dishes available for evening snacks. Coffee was fantastic. My biggest complaint is with the museum store. The museum’s collection is full of so many iconic artifacts. However, there’s very few mementos related to these, e.g., post cards, magnets etc. The V&A book is great, but I expected lot more from the store.

Debra Harrison

Excellent History of Handbags exhibition. Access was easy and orderly and there was plenty of space. Cafe area is stunning with great selection of food and drinks. One down point, recommendations on getting there say that access is possible through the tunnel, it was closed with no clear advice on how to best get to the right entrance.

Kin Pang

I was overwhelmed and inspired by this magnificent museum, there's so much to see with some hugely impressive rooms and such beautiful artworks and sculptures. It was a joy wandering around, I especially enjoyed the cartoons by Raphael and the cast courts, which are packed full of the most amazing monuments and sculptures. I will definitely be going back as I couldn't take it all in within one visit!

Lived in London (pretty much) all my life, and I guess got blasé about the museums on my doorstep. Regulars at the British, Natural Science and Science Museums (all terrific) with the kids but only recently visited the V&A. The Faberge exhibition was first rate but the building itself was also a delight. Worth the visit just to have a coffee and cafe in the cafe. Admire the topiary bonsais (?) in the courtyard cafe if the weather is kind.
