My grandfather was a deep rock miner at the Dome mine in the 1920s. I was looking forward to see artifacts from that time. Unfortunately, the exhibits were not available when I visited. Bummer. Especially after a 700km drive. But the scenery of the Boreal Forest on the drive up was spectacular. 5 stars for that????

Great community centre for meetings etc and a professionally arrange permanent exhibit with a focus on local/regional history/artifacts.

Over all this is a nice little museum, it has 2 rooms of exhibits. One room was all local art and all of it was amazing, the other room had lots of neat exhibits and we learned lots! They also have a lovely gift shop with local made items. I love the way they support the community. At the front entrance there is a bucket of free samples of drilled core, we missed it on the way in and almost missed it on the way out, the kids loved being able to pick a 'special rock'. We had a great afternoon at the museum, just wish it was a bit bigger

Really enjoyed reading some of the local history of Timmins. Nice staff and some cool exhibits. Looks like they’ve got a lot of local artifacts in the warehouse that would be nice to see on display!

The stuff about all the different types of rocks was neat but we were very disappointed to have drove over 13 howers to see some of Shania Twains home town and there is like nothing to see we were very disappointed that you dont have any pride in what she has Dunn to put timmins on the map there is rilly nothing in timmins for people to want to see where Shania Twain came from there is no statue of her and there is like no information about her or any thing wast of gas to get all the way up there for nothing to do and your roads are the worst roads in Canada very boring

museum renamed Mike Doody building Very interesting place to visit various exhibitions some permanent like mining exhibit, antiques, rocks with mineral deposit(gems). Lots of crafts from local artists and can even buy clothes there. Purchased a pair of leggings for half price. There is also a pioneer house in the yard to visit old time lifestyle in Timmins. Suggest this site to tourists.

Robert Basile

As far as museums go, so-so. But it was nice to be there as not much else to do in Timmins when its raining. The best part it was free to enter. Staff was pleasant and ended up buying sweat shirt in gift shop.
