Amazing place. We enjoyed our time here, especially the informative underground tour; where you'll get to learn a lot about the history of mining industry. The museum itself is a fun place for children and adults to learn more about rocks and minerals in the area. Very clean and was not crowded when we visited.

Brett Gutterson

Really nice experience. Would recommend watching the weather. When raining options are limited. Recommend booking the tour early

Kassie Dwarika

Awesome! Mine was cool, the temporary science sign language exhibit was very informative. Excellent rock samples and The Big Nickel was very big.

Little Munchkins

Great fun on Halloween night. The only place we found in Sudbury that was fun to go to. We initially planned on going to Manitoulin Island but bad food consumption made us sick and we ended up coming back home- 5ish hr drive ???? *Great story telling, nice fire setup and beautiful Decorations. ❤️

Liz Schramm

Great tour. The kids really had fun. Mine tour was about an hour long. Lots of amusements to see before the tour as well.

Jenny Labrosse

Pumpkinferno was okay! A good effort on their part during tough times! Beautiful walk but a little pricey considering you're not getting an experience like you did with the tunnel of terror. Anyways this is always a family favourite to visit! Thanks guys!

Gabriel Bennett

Excellent place to visit and learn about the mine and city. It's interactive and engaging for everyone of all ages. The staff are incredibly friendly and do their best to assist or answer questions. The elevator ride is much shorter than I anticipated. It was less than a minutes. Advice to potential visitors in the mine tour: wear a sweater or jacket. It's cold and damp with water droplets throughout.

Natalie Procopio

Super fun! Halloween pumpkins were amazing and all the staff were so nice! We tried dried crickets for free as well! Very cool and great for kids as well. There was a very engaging story teller at the campfire reading to the kids with the best voices and everyone I saw was smiling so big. A fantastic experience

Js Boutin

Very fun place even as two adults. The mine tour was pretty interesting even though the guide seemed like she had the soul sucked out of her before she had our group. It was very interesting to see mining throughout the ages. A lot of fun rocks and minerals to play with and learn about before / after the tour too. 6$ for parking is a little silly but hey they have to make money somehow.

Joshua Kahn

No visit to the area is complete without visiting this historic site. The scenery is beautiful and the attraction is awesome to behold. The information provided about the region and the history is must-learn content and I highly recommend that anyone visiting northern Ontario stop by for a quick look or an extended stay

Jason Pangowish

Was a great outing with the family. Lots of information and "tons" activities interesting facts and details. We had a great time and enjoyed the afternoon. Was nice to see all the covid safety protocols in place

Tammi Parsons

A stop worth making. Excellent learning opportunity for children. You will learn something too. Be sure to take the tour inside Dynamic Earth to understand the complex relationship between above and below the ground you stand on.

Tia Lalande

There's a Halloween theme going on and my cousin and I went for a late night visit after work. It was neat and spooky. It was late so we didn't go inside but it looked really cool from outside at night.

Sara Matheson

be worned you pay for parking... upset about this as I wanted to just see the big nickel and as a tourest destination was alittle suprised and frusterated.. Loved the exhibits that we went to see and the kids enjoyed the mine.. loved learning about the local mines in the area.

MIKEGREEN87

Best mine tour the info here rocks you can pan for gold they let you keep! ???? yay! oh and the augmented reality watershed topographical map is the coolest thing I've seen in ever. ???? Thanks for letting me pan gold all day a prosperously preposterously prospector Mike p. s. this is my lady and the best picture I took of a cheeky "hold up big nickel" pic. ????

Yauheni B.

Wow! One of the best interactive museum tours I have ever been on. The mine your is priceless and reminded me of Universal, only everything is real! One of the best museums in Ontario

Jonathan Gbedemah

I was truly surprised by this museum. I was under the impression Dynamic Earth was a regular walk-through museum, but it was a guided tour! (Mind you, decently expensive as well). They take you right through a real mine, show the development of mining equipment and even have interactives for the members on the tour. The tour guide was both hilarious and knowledgeable. Note: do NOT wear your nice shoes to this tour!

Claudio Gondo

Pumpkinferno is a must-go in Dynamic Earth. Employees are all keen to explain you everything and always with a smile on their faces.

Chetan Ramse

It was really a great experience and very educationalfor the kids! We spent 4 hours at the museum and also visited the underground mine tour which we really enjoyed! Our French tour guide Alex was awesome.. thank you

Mahmood Khan

Nickel mine had tons of information. People were very friendly and accomodating. Michelle is a beautiful speaker and very humorous. I would recommend to all families

John B

Stood under the giant nickel during a thunderstorm. Not sure it was a great idea. 5/5 would die again.

Kathleen Décosse

This place was not that exciting but we also didn’t go into the science centre attached to the big nickel.

Vincenzo Dagostino

Went during the pumkin inferno exhibit. Great place for young families and older ones. Much to see and do. Very safe with their COVID protocols and there is lots of hands on activities!

Sarah McCarthy

The mine tour was really interesting and gave a great perspective on what mining has been like over the years. As others have recommended, a jacket might be a good idea since it's quite cool and damp in the mine and the tour is an hour or so long. There's a nice playground for the kids to warm up again outside. And can't go to Sudbury and miss the Big Nickel!

Yasoda Hira

It was nice to visit the place to see where it all began. Seeing the big nickel was amazing and their information was very informative. I would definitely recommend to visit

Kristina H

Kids enjoyed it for a few hours. Great playground outside.

Rachel Metzger

Best place for kids and adults !!

Peter Scaife

Great displays. Halloween event was fun

Sunny Malik

Dnt miss the opportunity. Must visit this place very beautiful from inside and outside.

weber luo

Good for little kids to get some ideas of mining. But be aware that this is a fake mining site. It's digging under the museum that happens to locate on a hill. And the visiting tour is a fake show. Noted that there is safety exit door that outside is nice sunshine =)

Tyler Conron

Fun exhibits, friendly and interactive staff. Great spot for young kids and adults alike. Limited time slots for the Underground Tour due to COVID restrictions. Book well in advance (+1 week at least).

Egor Kapko

Came here a few times and nickel is very pretty. However if you come at night, they turn the lights off. At least one solar panel light would be nice for all night time light.

Sylvain Leotard (Sylvanito)

Nice museum though not very big. The underground tour 70ft down in the mine is quite fun, and our guide Matteo was nice managing the group and making fun stories. The room downstairs is also worth the time with a lot of simulators. There's also a mineral trading room. Lots of interactive content, kids will love it.

Verlisha Phillip

Wonderful museum, but big heads up!! If you're thinking to visit Sudbury and Dynamic Earth, there is an underground tour of the mines, and to experience this you need to book your tickets 2-3 weeks in advance. Without the tour there is still plenty to do and learn. Sudbury is full of history and dynamic earth has different activities to engage and educate both adults and children.

Peter Traplin

I always love visiting dynamic earth. The big nickel is one of Sudbury's better known tourist sites. They offer a number of fun activities for families including the museum, play area and tours. I highly recommend calling ahead and arranging your visit so you can go on tour. If you're looking for family friendly fun in Sudbury look no further. I highly recommend a visit!

Rodger Whitman

Tour was a fun way to cool off in hot summer . Very informative exhibits and staff.

Randy Parker

It was very interesting place to visit fascinating how the nickel and other materials are removed

Kelly Nebreda

PumpkInferno was so creative! Very interesting event, kid-friendly (although can be a bit late for the little ones), they had science experiment presentation and you could sit around a fire while an employee shared a "spooky" story (again, kid-friendly!) Definitely recommend!

jon dobson

Great place to bring children. Mine tour was great. Very knowledgeable staff. Keep up the great work!

Ivan Ceballos

It's unbelievable how many different stones/minerals you can see there, the museum is worth a visit, specially the mine underground. I bought a nickel coin fridge magnet but for my surprise it was made in china, which is weird coming from a Nickel mine.

Canadiansugar Angel

Very knowledgeable employees. Lots of hands on things to do. The underground mine tour was a blast. I recommend bringing a light jacket as the mine is quite cool and wet. Kids playground outside and a nice cafe inside.

Raziat Fatima

One of the best museums to take kids to. Enjoyed every bit of it, especially when they take you several feet’s down to the underground mines. It’s so cool and kids thoroughly enjoyed!!

Nikhil Dewan

Loved seeing the "Big Nickel". Simulated underground mine tour was impressive.

Kyle Mckay

Was a great time, took about 3 hours. Would be one hour more if there was room on mining tour (underground). Some of the virtual stations did not work. But the videos and interactive videos were very educational and interesting. Would recommend. Bring some interesting rocks, they will identify and allow trade based on points. Great fun. Kids enjoyed that most.

Lester Jacobs

The mine tour was good and the Big Nickel was good photo opportunity but I found that rest of the exhibits were just okay. One standout was the new cooling tower exhibit which I found to be very interesting.

Rob

For the rest of the story see below but heres the negative part. This year they put in a new play ground and we were so excited but we didn't have time to take in the attraction. We paid our parking and asked how much to play in the playground, because you couldn't get to it from outside (it was gated!!) We were told FULL ADMISSION!!!! For my family that's $94.00. Background My Wife, children , and I have come here every year for 10 years and have a photo taken with the Big Nickel. It's our tradition. We have always enjoyed the playground to let our kids expend a little energy before getting back in the car. 2 years ago we came and things had changed. First there is now a ChArge for parking. I felt that this was ok as it would help contribute something even if you weren't taking in the attraction. Second they removed the playground. Not only did my kids 11,9 & 3 play there(not so much my 3 year old) but we always took a picture on the slide. This place has become more money hungry and should really Institute a small fee so kids can play at the park.

Sam M

Underground tour was great. Price of tour + admission is good value, but don’t know if admission on its own is worth the price charged. CoVid protocols left us all feeling safe, including reduced capacity, but still need to be cautious to maintain space. I’ve been on a couple of mine tours before & what set this one apart was what I was able to learn about modern mining techniques (most other places seem to be located where mining has long since ended), which alone made it worth it to me. Definitely recommend

Adam Marshall

It was fun but the website isn't clear on weather or not stuff is sold out. It was still fun though, a lot of do.

C.J Finnie

Amazing!! Fantastic museum. Highly recommend the underground mine tour. It is cool & damp so wear jacket. Knowledgeable tour guides making tour interesting for all ages. Had a blast...(literally) Char & Don

fish Army

Had a great time with my family the underground mine tour was very interesting.

Bruce Laird

My son was doing a project on Nickel and Silver - so we planned an impromptu overnight visit to Sudbury... we had a Great Time at Dynamic Earth - the tour guide was knowledgeable - lots of interaction and some great simulators and shows on everything you ever wanted to know about mining and metal extraction and refining - the girl at the front desk was blah..... and not helpful that cost them the fifth star... Awesome experience though

Stewart Kelly

Visited with my kids- perfect place for them- lots for kids to do and very hands on - so for them it's perfect. Adults will find it interesting too. They have updated some of their interactive displays since my last visit so that is good. It is a bit pricey especially as you have to pay for parking too. Appears to be staffed primarily with students working for the summer. Friendly staff for the most part. If you have not been here before and you have kids, I would recommend it. If you have been before (like me) then I would go try find something else to do. Views of Sudbury and the superstack pretty good from the parking lot. And of course, you can't come to Sudbury without getting your picture taken in front of the Big Nickel.

Matt Damota

I didn't go in, they were not open yet 8am. But did go see the big nickel, it was big. Information plaques everywhere very informative cool things to know.

Philip Lee

Amazing experience with the mine tour. Lots of interactions for the kids to participate and have fun.

Leigh-Anne & Lee

We were unable to utilize the grounds or museum inside due to covid-took lots of pictures from afar and of course with the big nickle! We'll check it out in the spring and hopefully it will be open then.

Carl Anderson

Nice place to take a picture with the nickle but the attraction is closed.

Prabhdeep Sodhi

One of the best spots to visit in Sudbury. Gives you a once in lifetime experience. The underground tour is the best part.

Kandis C

Great place to learn about Canada's history. Knowledgeable staff and hands on experiences.

ROLLIE CAT

This is the place where the Big Nickel is located. Dynamic Earth helps us trace that part of Greater Sudbury's prehistoric past when it was catastrophically hit by large meteor thereby causing the crater-shaped valley that it is today.

cassie feyen

My husband and I went to dynamic earth today and at 2pm had an underground tour with Ava Heather. 10/10. She was knowledgable, fun and made our experience even better. You can tell she loves what she does.

Al Becker

I love this place in October. I wish I could give you more stars.

Graham Hill

Great family experience. Take a guided tour of the mines which shows the changes in methods from 100 yrs ago, 50 yrs ago, and today. A theatre showing different documentaries: volcanos, dinosaurs, evolution of humans. Learn to control interactive diggers too.

John Wong

Nice exhibits and I love those you can touch or try type of exhibit, unlike other museum focus on wordings or pics. I particularly like remote control a small rock breaker machine. Great tour and very fun. The outdoor science park and indoor kid areas keep my little ones busy for hours. This is a must-visit if you visit Sudbury.

Dwayne de Wit

Great place to learn about some of Sudbury's history! Lots of things to do with the kids, such as exhibits and such. Kids can also earn points for items through the Nature Exchange! Great place for a family outing! Part of Science North, but it is a separate entry fee unless you have a membership.

Natalia Fedosova

Great experience for kids and parents, we loved the tour and the museum as well! It's a good place to spend a whole day

Tec Savvy

The staff of the museum is a bit rude and "loud". She embarrassed us in front of other guests. She could have be more pro active instructing guests. She needs more training on "customer service". I love the place though. Clean, lots of parking space, nice view, etc.

Usman Butt

It's a nice place, lots of learning the best part is the mine tour. Got to see an actual mine with machinery and stuff. Guide was informative. Kids loved it. Mine tour was surprisingly non-claustrophobic. Although the museum above is a bit boring for the toddlers, but very informative for the adults.

Guy Moreau

While the mine is not a real one - it is purpose built for the museum - it is still a great experience. Gotta love rocks however!

Chris Kennedy

Went to the pumkinferno for the first time! Had a blast! Highly recommend!

Dianne Elliott

Absolutely loved The Big Nickle..a really great experience. Very educational. Reasonable Rates. I highly recommend it to anyone..
