Small site, but some fun exhibits and an excellent gift shop. Well worth a visit, especially for those interested in the War of 1812, Sault Ste. Marie history and/or the fur trade. There is a garden as well as several buildings. Very easy to get to.

The amazing history of the ermatinger/ clergue era in Sault ste. Marie, kept alive. Interesting facts about the North West trading company and its position in Sault ste. Marie's development. Fascinating artifacts from over 150 years ago involving the Native trades and way of life compared to European way of life integrated.

If you were a student in an elementary school in the Sault, chances are you went to the old stone house. Lots of history in the building if you are into that thing.

Excellent introductory movie to frame the history. Good inside display. The rock house and blockhouse are interesting to tour. Period gardens are good. The gift store is also good. There is an admission fee that is quite reasonable ($11 per senior). Well worth the visit. Check for package admission fees to other sites in Sault Ste Marie. Visited Aug 23/18.

Loved seeing the inside of the house. The story of the house was interesting as well. There was a bridal party there taking pictures so that was a bit awkward.

Went for appetizers, play, dinner...this was a special event...it was awesome...food was great and learned some things history-wise...next evening soiree is Oct 4...but it's already sold out. Great experience and lots of fun!

Plan to spend an hour minimum, 2 hours maximum. There's a very (technically) impressive introductory film, a room on the war of 1812, and two historical buildings. (There is a package deal of this, the Bush Plane, and the local history museum. It also includes the art museum, but... well... let's just say the convenient, free 2 hour parking lot is it's best attribute.)

Cinderella Smith

Very historic house with excellent visitor center.

A piece of northern Ontario history. I live thinking what it might have been like to live there, trade with the 1st Nations as they canoed to almost that front stoop! Beautiful. Also, very interesting place across the street, a museum of aircraft

Small museum, but very friendly staff. It's a quick tour during down season (march) because one of the sites is closed. Lots of very informative parts of Canadian history. Cute souvenir shop with local goods. We missed the introduction video because there was a group of seniors lawn bowling inside, so we didn't mind. Worth a visit to support local history.
