REVIEWS OF Remai Modern IN Saskatoon

Ri

Being a 3 MILLION$ establishment which was repeated by our class tour guide I feel like we should be able to touch a god damn wall we were told we can only “walk on the floor and breathe the air!” We weren’t aloud to sit down even accidentally touching a wall would get us yelled at the Mendel art gallery was much better than this 3 MILLION$ building and the place didn’t seem like all that it wasn’t welcoming at all get your money back this isn’t worth 3 MILLION dollars I don’t recommend this place whatsoever I recommend the zoo at least we’re aloud to touch the walls there!

Roman Korenic

Curators here do great work and are helping to make a great impression of the arts and culture scene in Saskatoon.

Bonita Dolmage

Beautiful set and good sound

Ian Sunderland

Great exhibits, restaurant is top notch and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. A great addition to the Canadian and international modern art scene. Very reasonably priced memberships as well!

Everett Wells

Awesome gallery, every time I've been here the exhibits are different and very interesting. The building itself has some really cool architecture and great views of the river.

James Olfert

Very cool building. Friendly staff. Even the guy who gave us heck for standing too close to the Picassos was very polite about it. World class facility.

Glenna Daisey

Nice open spaces to view and enjoy the art. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Leora carmichael-cassidy

Great place to work...Great Boss...

Tara Galaugher

What a nice addition to Saskatoon! The space is beautiful, with big windows that let in a ton of light. The exhibits were well organized and there was enough diversity in the art that there was something to suit different tastes. Love the kids craft area, too. Will for sure get a membership!

Jamie Shaw

Beautiful new development with interesting art pieces and a very interesting gift shop. One point against is that the smell from the restaurant carries upward throughout.

Michael Hussey

I like the building it is very modern

sepideh shahkarami

Remai Modern is a must see if you are in Saskatoon. Great building with a nice view of the river. There is a little gift shop in the corner of the museum with excellent artistic items. The Picasso section is highly recommended.

Brian

Nice place for photograph and hangout!

Maxim Galash

Cool, went from toronto

Sheyla Lima

Interesting museum. They have a beautiful gallery from Mendel and Picasso. A lovely space to children show their talent as a artist ????‍???? called the Paint room. They also have other entertainments there, but didn’t have time to see more. I’m definitely going back.

Mehul Pandya

It's really a good art museum. Unless you really follow arts, I wouldn't recommend this place for a visit. Particularly if you have kids, it could be a difficult place for them. 12 $ entry for an adult. There are some art pieces that are just photographs and some really dark screens which are difficult to decipher. At ground level they had good activities for kids (DIY) kinda.....I appreciate the art.....but this is something beyond me and I would strongly recommend to skip this place if you are not a hard core in to the arts.

Kale Klassen

The gallery is great but these visiting hours are terrible, does it cost that much extra to extend them across the board? Really impractical.

Kyler Nyhagen

It was pretty enjoyable! Despite the fact it's a larger building, it does seem a bit...Small? There's only really 2 floors for displays. The upside is that they actually seem to rotate out one of the floors to showcase a new Artist, so if anything, it's constantly changing!

Diane Wagner

The employees at the museum we're happy to stop and share information with us when we had questions. We also ate at the restaurant, where the food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Oscar lou

Clean washrooms????

Ian Long

I am not a fan of what is currently in display.

Kathy McKay

Very few of the galleries were open. The building is beautiful. The gift shop was very nice.

macky191

Didn't like the security guards breathing down my neck when looking at the art. They really didn't have to follow us around.

Colleen Thomas

Gift shop was great. Not sure about some of the installations but all were certainly entertaining and thought provoking.

Rebecca Kraft

Looking for a thought-provoking experience check out the Remy modern Art center, if you're interested in free passes check out any one of saskatoon's local libraries for the discovery pass one adult and up to five kids or two adult admissions for free. A wonderful exhibit on reconciliation and many others. They also have a learning studio where you and your kids can do projects together my daughter and I went and had lots of fun. Can't wait to go back.

Laura Carolina

Complimentary lockers and audio guides. Some galleries were "in transition," so the entry fees were discounted. Many Canadian contemporary artists plus Picasso works.

Superdeux

Lots of fun. What an incredible building. Good for a Saturday afternoon visit. I hope to catch one of the art classes at some point.

-Byron Hnatuk-

An amazing new art gallery with beautiful architecture. World class venue with huge potential of being an event centre, to host a wedding or gala. Parking is a pain especially underground since the spots are quite tight for an average SUV so you may have to park further than you want to. Will be even better once all the construction in the area is complete.

theaffablegeek

Looks like a great modern art museum. Nice place for a conference dinner. Beautiful view of the river from the front and first floors.

Alise McNair

The exhibits right now are terrifying. Not a peaceful place to be. My husband and I rushed through the exhibits because they were full of mutilated faces, creepy videos, extremely poorly drawn male genitalia, and all together uninviting. Wine was over priced as well. We were relieved to leave.

Sudhir Navathe

Good art gallery

Phillip Lucas

We had a great time!

Les Klassen Hamm

Stunning new building, gorgeous river views. Plan for extra time to take in the amazing Picasso linocut collection!

Tom Wolf

Nice gallery, great views to inside and outside. Was between shows so didn't see it all. Picasso lino cuts were great to see but highlight was original Mendel collection of true Canadian masterpieces, as well as Maple Leaf Foods building art. Diminutive written acknowledgement of Mendel legacy disappointing. Will definitely come back.

Bruce Cowell

First class, must see.

Jonathan Angevine

A great addition to Saskatoon. Looking forward to seeing future exhibits whenever we visit.

Kirsten Mendoza

would be 5/5 stars if i didn't find a hair in my water

rkj lange

Qweer bathrooms are the best bathrooms

Ryan Luedtke

Ugliest building in Saskatoon! What an eye-sore along the river. Over budget, behind schedule, overall-- What a waste of prime real-estate and tax payer money. Who thought this place was a good idea? Pathetic.

Richard Tseng

Seems better than Edmonton's Art Gallery..

Max

Seriously amazing gallery inside and out. Very affordable for the quality of art they're bringing in. I feel like people leaving one star reviews because there's some wasted space don't really understand how galleries work but whatever. For $55 anyone can become a member and go to a world class art gallery year round. Seems like a pretty good deal ????????‍♂️.

April Cebedo Balagosa

Its a great gallery for art lovers. The space is modern. Although very expensive

Terry Korte

Amazing design. Picasso.

Cold Prairies Adventure

I coughed about 4 times and was asked to leave........Nice....

DD Raptor

Good views of the river But thats about it... boring art and building fells empty and cold The mendal had much better art and it was free... Like $12 for admission... WTH

Nahid S

Cooperative staf and running an one day free for kids to do art.

Jignesh Ambasana

Great architecture

Egshina Byambatseren

Although i'm not a fan of art, Remai Modern is a great location for anyone. The architectural design is also amazing to look at.

Andrea Hartoyo

Great museum! I enjoyed my visit. It was clean, easy to navigate, and the exhibitions were interesting. I’ll definitely return one day!

David Kim-Cragg

Fin things going on. Beautiful and disturbing works to ponder.

Queen M.

Definitely worth checking out if you are in Stoon. ✔

Adetoyese Oyedun

Amazing galleries....

Leif Shantz

Lovely art gallery! Come here occasionally!

Peter T

Apparently if you can put a meaning behind any old piece of junk, suddenly it is art. There are some actual appreciable pieces of art, but too much "interpreted" art.

Alejandra Ov

Beautiful art

Mr Cool

The food was good and overall atmosphere is nice

JonoYQR

Lots of construction in area seemed confusing driving in and wasn't sure where to park or if there was free parking, ended up downtown for lunch instead. Will have to try again on another trip. Looks like a nice building though.

Anna Khamitova

Beautiful building is the only piece of art out there. No let me say that the painting of Lawrence Harris is a Gem of the gallery. Everything else is not worth seeing. It’s so sad that nowadays we have so many beautiful artists why are not recognized and we recognize those who praise sexual immorality or just using politics to become an artist. Or I guess this is a reflection of nowadays society which is really sad to realize.

Jon Poulin

Lugo Event Only: We got tickets for Lugo because we heard good things. When we got there there was some spoken poetry. We went to get drink and food tickets which were shared making it easier to decide how many to buy. We went to grab drinks and there were only 3 options. Original 16, a red wine and a white wine. There was a performance piece of 3 woman passing a dress between them up the 3 floors. There was also a video playing in the theatre and also music being played in one area. 1) This event was in a hallway and not in any of the very large rooms. It got crowded very fast making getting around very difficult and time consuming. It also made the place very hot and uncomfortable. Expect to lose people for a long time. 2) We expected a lot more performances and there was only really 2. Also we couldn't see any of the art that is actually in the remai since the event was just in the hallways. 3) The food was very overpriced and not that great. $2.50 for 1 meatball that was about the size of a dollar. Only saving grace was fish tacos from Hometown Diner which were delicious and well portioned. This event is basically a drinking event that is in an art gallery but not about art itself. Multiple friends who attended the Mendal art gallery Lugo events said it was much better. I do not recommend this event at this time.

Paul Chavady

Very happy to see such a world class establishment in Saskatoon!

Keith Lee

Beautiful space, thoughtful exhibits, great staff. Loved the creator space activities

Louis St. Germain

Schools out so the one down side was kids. "Kids should be seen through glass from a great distance." If you ignore the school trips it was an especially wonderful experience. ????

Judy Pietz

Remai Modern is a unique and beautiful building showing individuality in the art that is on display.. redefining art in a unique and beautiful way.

Louie Parker

Not q whole lot of things to see, but nice facility located near the river,, love the movie exhibition where they had 6 screens showing different angles of the same scene. Fairly small and limited things to see, i hope they can build on this great Foundation further.

Stephen Molaro

This was my first visit. It was awesome.

M Stone

Amazing new art gallery in Saskatoon. Took students here for an afternoon tour and they loved it too. Great stop to visit in Saskatoon.

Geoff Schmidt

I was blown away by the quality of this centre on our first visit. Really stellar art and facilities. Helpful guides and service staff.

Grace Schienbein

A bit of a let down to be honest. There are some amazing Canadian artists but their work isn't featured there.

Chandrasekaran Kullappan

Difficult to understand the portraits.

Phil Morris

When my wife and our family went we only went on a free day, because we probably will never spend money to see it. Like we aren't necessarily art people, but we do like things that look good. And stuff like a bunch of old speaker guts hanging from a ceiling beside feathers and rocks that are also hanging from the ceiling, do not seem like art to us. As well as about 20 pages with just writing on them. They don't even say anything. It's just writing. My wife also really liked the concrete statue of a womans leg which had a fishnet stocking and a rubber Walmart flip flop on it. Very artsy... But don't get me wrong. There was one room with actual art, it was actual paintings that belonged to the Remai family. But seeing as that the price tag for building this place was so large. I'd expect a little better art.

Brent Scholl

To sum this place up in 4 words: offensive waste of resources. I mean how pretentious could you get to spend so much money to build such a big building to showcase a bunch of delusional art. You crumpled a news paper and put it on wall... Bravo. Let's spend millions to show case this kind of thing. While our streets are filled with pot holes and poverty.... Bravo upper class.

Liz McKnight

Absolutely amazing collection. I thoroughly enjoyed the museum tour although I wish it was much longer. We didn't make it through all the exhibits before the time ran out unfortunately.

Jordan Smith

What a pretentious waste of time. 2 of the galleries inside are worth seeing whilst the rest were a massive waste of space imo. I know they say that art is subjective but $12 you'd think would get you a bit more than a brief walk around. You would also like to think a new modern art gallery would celebrate modern artists from the local area a bit more, rather than giving centre stage to enormous (and unrelated) pieces that focus on the issues in california and the USA. There is so much space in this gallery and it has been poorly curated in my opinion, especially as it was the most expensive gallery we visited during our stay in saskatoon, yet also the worst. Honestly of you want to see some worthwhile modern art in Saskatoon hit the streets, it is everywhere!

Amir Abolhassani

It is a must go. Amazing place, nice shows, great architecture.

Terry Maton

Enjoyed the members' preview of Thelma Pepper show. Great views of the river at night as well.

Milan Lagos

I love the picasso unit there it is very cool and cultural

Dawn Martin

This amazing new facility is a treasure. It is a spectacular building. The first shows give me a solid confidence that the investment by the community has been worthwhile. In particular, the Picasso exhibition wowed me. I wasn't expecting linos to be that interesting, but the curation and presentation made it fascinating. Well done Remai! Can't wait to see what the future brings!

Mike Martin

Lovely place. Great views in addition to the art!

D Close

This is a lovely modern museum. There is so much open space in the exhibit rooms which is refreshing. You can really take in some of the bigger pieces they have. Super awesome that the audio guide came free with admission. The admission was also very reasonably priced.

Hilary Hex

The building was sure interesting, but a lot of wall space was used for hallways and empty corridors. When you entered or exited a specific wing the doors made a very loud noise disrupting the viewing experience for others. The audio for the exhibits seemed poorly balanced: some far to loud and some you needed to strain to hear, and the flow to the exhibits wasn't natural. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly though.

Jingjie Guo

Really nice environment for a brunch. Croissants there are very tempting!

Shelley Jones

Beautiful building in a gorgeous location by the river. The visit started off nice with some wonderful pieces donated by the Mendel family and some Picasso prints that were interesting. Then it went downhill from there. Hated the main exhibit. Definately not my kind of "art".

ImPurpl3

Went here and had an outstanding experience. Every art piece was very unique and cool. Would come here on a rainy day and is worth the price.

J Mukerji

Absolutely world class art gallery

Aigerim

Neat and tidy. Modern look and always friendly staff

Ashley S

The Picasso gallery was nice, however if you want to pay admission to see a bunch of garbage and broken TVs be my guest. Durham was a joke, felt like a bunch of guys on meth got to exhibit their "showcase". Amazing building but there is a large amount of wasted space...

Vasya Omelchuk (VO IMAGES)

This is the best for stay!

Luka Gouveia

Beautiful art, a theater, and they have the biggest Picasso gallery in North America. Don't forget the most Amazing interior I've ever encountered.

Brady Beat Dancer

I absolutely loved attending the Remai Modern art collective on Tuesday! The building is very nice and always clean. Staff are also friendly ????

Zohra Zahir

Well presented and well kept!

Shawn S

Try to imagine Saskatoon without the Remai. It has become an iconic landmark. Already increasing the profile of this quaint city, many more will want to visit as its reputation grows, further cementing Saskatoon as a mini metropolis. For the future generation of the city, this gallery will be a hub of culture and art. Let's hope it continues to stay committed to giving back to the community in which it resides.

Brian & Mariela Fagan

Sought after works of art by the master's are on display in this beautiful new art gallery.

Garry MacDonald

This is a beautiful museum / gallery. The exhibits are interesting, and fun!

brent langenberger

It was an interesting series of exhibits and the building is a beautiful space.

Nicole Yeung

Seems to be a bit of a work in progress, but regardless, I throughly enjoyed myself. A beautiful building containing many different types of art ranging from modern to traditional. I’d definitely go back whenever I’m in town!

Carlos Fentanes

We had supper at The Shift inside the Gallery. Nice people and great food.

stick bug

The "art" is something you find on devent art

Aidan Perron

Was there for a Christmas party. If you're only having 200 people it's perfect. I think any more then 250 you're pushing it for space. It's a very beautiful facility though! Very clean and everyone was very polite. Food was fantastic. We had a buffet and it tasted absolutely amazing. Everything was on point. Still have yet to stop in and checkout all the art! But I definitely want to come back more now.

Mark Dyck

Absolutely beautiful space. Cost is prohibitive, but I apreciate having a world class gallery in town. Seems unlikely they will meet their attendance goals, but I wish them the best.

James Shade

Good food. Worth checking out.

S K

great gallery, was hoping to see more art, couldn't read much about the artists and their artwork since the descriptions font size is tiny so do carry magnifying glasses..

Holly Friesen Art

Beautiful architecture on the shores of the Saskatoon River. A gem of a museum and a major coup for Saskatoon.

Shannon Lucky

Beautiful space and thoughtful rotating exhibits. This is the perfect place to explore and has something for everyone. If you live in Saskatoon, get a (very reasonably priced!) membership and go often. I always notice something new and it is great to be able to pop in for 30 min and not have to worry that I can’t see everything during that visit.

Sincerely C

Beautiful gallery. I was here for a photoshoot and they gave us a discount because one of the shows was closed because they are switching out the artwork. I loved it!!

MSDEE xo

Great food! The view was nice too. Will come back again to celebrate our special occasion.

F Rawlyk

The building itself has beautiful architecture. There is a free gallery on the main floor, as well as a little museum shop and a restaurant called Shift. The second floor has a gallery, event space, and a theater that has occasional free shows for members. The third floor is all gallery space (three separate rooms/galleries), plus one of the best views in the river in the city. Membership is affordable and they host a lot of events and tours.

June deDood

Fascinating!! Modern! Impressive views of Saskatoon.

Ashley Parrott

Very nice building and the art was cool too!

Laura Wilson

So much wasted space and barely enough art to look at to fill an hour of time. The kids play area they had listed was non-existant. A huge letdown overall.

Christian Nielsen

The chandelier made of venetian blinds was the only thing I understood, but the building design is amazing. A broken piece of drywall with rotting potatoes and carrots behind it is art?

Tina Peterson

Not very interesting. Even with Picasso art. And a lot of floors were closed.

Jett Black

Awesome exhibits! Wish there was more available.

Sampath Perumal

Nice location and good river views. Kids had enjoyed the activities and shows! Good for one time!

Brian Kinash

Maybe it's the money spent, or the time it took to build or maybe it's simply that I've been in actually impressive buildings, combine that with apparently a lack of appreciation for many of the exhibits the experience was lackluster, made me miss the old gallery. Not to mention the goofy little security guards who like to tell you when you're walking to close to the Picasso's

Johwanna Alleyne

Very pretty and engaging small gallery. Brunch was delicious!

josh remai

Great location and an awesome building. A must see

xavier scott

Had a great experience here for my sister's wedding reception.

Abdullah AlBiladi

Small yet cool place to see beautiful pieces of art. Nice for families with kids.

Vo-Huu-Thuc NGUYEN

Quite an eye opening experience. They have a special children entertainer performing on the Family Day who was a great artist. People visiting the place me included enjoyed ourselves a lot. And they also have a beautiful view to the river with coffee shop and souvernir shop.

Francois Magny

Such an unexpected gem. If you are visiting Saskatoon, you must stop by.

Daniel Johnson

Beautiful building and place to host meetings

John Tough

Clean and well-organized. Excellent exhibits. Can highly recommend the Picasso exhibit.

John Bakum

Beautiful building and great location on the river. Galleries are big so you don't feel crowded.

Warren Climenhaga

Galleries are not wheel chair accessible without assistance, due to heavy non-automatic doors. These doors also create loud noises that are disruptive to otherwise quiet galleries. Strange design flaws for otherwise impressive facilities!

Kitty Murphy

Beautiful building. Disappointed in the artwork. Not my thing but maybe would be yours. It was I guess neat to view some of Picasso’s work. I can’t comment on the side restaurant as didn’t utilize it but it is nice to see one available. Having a room full of ping pong tables seemed odd to me in an art gallery. The gift shop was incredibly expensive. Overall, relieved that I went on a free admission day. I would have been more than sad otherwise.

Edel Lopez

Amazing museum! No doubt that it is a gem of Saskatoon and Saskatchewan! This museum have one of the biggest collections of Linocut Prints of Picasso so you can imagine how great it is. Some of the rooms are sub used in my opinion but I’m not an artist. The store is great too and a lot of nice people working here. Sunday’s are free! Important to let you know that detail!

Meghan Lett

I like the art and I like the shape and architecture of the building. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Restaurant was decent but not as good as like... it looked like it would be from the fancy decor and stuff. I went to an event there once and it was this weird mix of snobby rich people who seemed to look down on me for my minimum wage VV outfit and then other people like me who as well seemed uncomfortable and like they felt out of place. Also the sound system went out literally FIVE TIMES on the poor DJ. The drinks were overpriced and tasted like water. The whole event was quite overpriced for what it was. I just feel like it's trying to be too avant-garde or whatever. Kinda embarassing tbh. Too much of a try-hard feel and not enough of a genuine art gallery feel. I'd say go once - on a free day - to see it and that should be good enough. Frick the rich. Frick not being able to access art bc you work minimum wage.

Robert Walker

I’d like to say that my visit to the Remais Modern was a huge success. I certainly had high expectations from what I’d heard from my enthusiastic hosts. But In the event my wife and I were really frustrated and disappointed by its pretentiousness, exclusiveness, confusing layout and overall inaccessibility. Reading reviews from New York and similar centres of culture I wondered whether this was a serious case of the emperor’s clothes where no one was willing to say what was really on their minds for fear of appearing ignorant to their peers or politically incorrect. Starting with arriving to an extremely cramped underground parking lot which was almost impossible to negotiate if cars were coming the other way, I was shocked at the excessively wasteful spaciousness of the main levels. Three hugely underemployed front desk staff took payments from the odd patron but offered no direction or guidance. The two brochures were either scant to the point of useless or crammed with information not particularly useful. Finding the scant brochure layout confusing I asked the first attendant for general directions to which he curtly replied: “I cannot.” Period! So my guest and I headed for the Picasso Gallery as the thought of seeing this artist’s work drew us there first. This we found was not his work but merely the name of the gallery. The works there were sort of interesting but reminded me often of my father’s comment: “what is that supposed to be?” Sparsely worded labels gave scant detail, often posted many feet from the work itself, and often positioned in clusters which made identifying the link between each confusing piece of art and its pretentiously worded description consistently confusing to the average person in the street. Behind a sound proof curtain a movie was playing to a couple of people. About what, who could say? Were we in the beginning, the middle or near the end. Who could tell. Another 100-seat theatre with zero patrons was running a partially frozen screen movie with an error message on the screen. The Picasso prints themselves were fine - when we found them in another gallery. But the link to some other artist on the door going in was so pretentiously (sorry, that word again!) worded I had to read it three times to fathom what the writer was trying to say. Nearby, in the vast hallway were two TV screens propped at odd angles against a low support. Some sort of program was blaring from their oddly angled screens but again it was noisy, confusing and hard to figure what all was happening. Was it for the benefit of children who were (not) frequenting the adjoining uninviting children’s area. Having been in some form of communications much of my life this seemed a classic case of self-congratulatory art patrons spending millions on making art elitist and inaccessible to Joe Public. By this time we were desperate to get a break and eat. The restaurant was another hugely elitist place with a highly priced lunch menu. That would have been OK -as we were not wanting to drive and re-park - were it not for the sun blasting in through high unshaded windows and nerve-grinding non-musical sounds creating “atmosphere.” Beating a retreat to another eatery we explained to the hostess that it was that very dentist-drill atmospheric sounds that were driving us away. As a visitor from out of town who has been to London, New York and other major galleries over a long life time, I was hesitant to share my misgivings with my local hosts. But they too held similar views below the surface of local pride and patriotism. I think this gallery could be amazing for Saskatoon if it stopped trying to be so over the top elitist and consequently disappointing and in accessible to the average public. I would just add, on reading other reviews, that the managers have missed the 101 social media review opportunity of replying to scathing criticism.

Alireza Jalaeian

Nice to see once.

Raj Behari

Great creative space in Saskatoon, with beautiful views.

Darcy P

The teen program here is really great!

Jason G

The Remai is an amazing experience! If your looking for a relaxing day and some fantastic art, I would recommend visiting this gallery.

Sarah Closson

Really fun way to spend an afternoon looking at art, and great for kids and adults of any age.

Johnny SL

I... uh, might be too dumb for this place. But if you like art this might definitely be your jam

sean tseng

A cool place with cool art.

Stephen Maryland

So I have travelled quite a lot and have seen many art galleries, some of the greatest in the world and some hidden ones. And I myself am an artist with my work having been at the Mendel Art Gallery and others, so after finally being able to park near the Remai Modern I thought I would check it out. After an astonishing $24 for the two of us to get in, I was expecting something magnificent. I don't want to seem to trash this gallery, but a little foreshadowing, I felt so ripped off, let down and robbed. The art showcase was a joke, the artist was not only terrible, his work inspired no thought, showed no creativity and generally the more I saw the more I hoped it would be over. But nope, it kept going. Perhaps I am not a modern art guru like others in Saskatoon but when I see art I like to feel inspired, in awe and really taken in. The main showcase seemed more like a backyard junkyard with underwear put on old car parts. The artist was even nice enough to include his old mud filled buckets with stinky rags in it. Perhaps his sign of what was more to come. There was one room that actually had some art in it, art where you can tell there was talent and effort working hand in hand. All 8-10 paintings. The Picasso lithographs were never a big draw for art collectors other than the name of the artist, there are a handful here. Nothing like the Picasso art you would see in his better known works. So my experience, this is terrible. The best art is the building itself. To charge people this much to have such a bad experience, it really takes away from the artists who put effort in. What really caught me off guard was when I heard it being a world class facility?! Perhaps those who feel this way should travel more. Art is in the eye of the beholder, but this is really pushing it. We finished off for food at Shift. It really went hand in hand with the art experience. The food was bland, unseasoned and tasteless. Boiled potatoes tossed on a hot plate quickly, burnt toast with no butter or jam. I thought it was a joke and out server appeared to be under the influence of something. The server was kind enough to talk to us for 5 minutes about all the bad reviews but that there was a Shift in Toronto. Somehow that is supposed to make me think its good. They try to be upper scale but I can't see this lasting either. Perhaps Chef Dale McKay can turn it around once the newness of this place turns off.

Kenneth Loraas

Very interesting place. World class

ROBERT L

Cool stuff lot of art and a interesting building

Ismaël Besharah

Doesn't hold a candle to the Mendel.

Scott MacDonald

Very neat place with interesting exhibits.

Matt Ramage

I highly recommend the interactive audio tour for a date night. It is very well done and brings so much insight into the art and museum. Bring your kids on Saturday or Sunday for activities. The family pass is a no brainer as well. Saskatoon is lucky to have this place.

oscar chocano

Amazing modern art collection, if you visit Saskatoon

Blair Jamieson

Didn't expect this! Who thinks about going to Saskatoon to see an extensive collection of Pablo Picasso's work? If you're in Saskatoon you MUST go. The other exhibits were amazing as well. Not to mention the building itself, the location and the food. Yep, it a definate WOW!

Andrew Swanson

Terrible waste of tax dollars...they have blinds as a centre exhibit. Go to New York to see a real gallery.

gurman arora

Nice building and picaso theater was good. But nothing else was open yet

Mr.K

Definitely worth a visit. They change the exhibits regularly so you don't have to wait long to see something new. There's bound to be something for everyone. It's important to remember that it is an art gallery and should be treated as such, it isn't an amusement park.

Candice Klein

The Remai is a well-curated collection of contemporary and modern art, which is certainly a divisive grouping of artwork. Every time I go there is always something that is thought-provoking, difficult, and spectacular, or provides necessary critical commentary. I also like that the Remai has a lot of works by Indigenous artists. This gallery is such a lovely space, and so long as you come with an open mind, you won't leave disappointed. (Also, I do believe that the public library downtown has a family pass you can check out for the day if cost is a barrier?) Overall, I think the Remai is good competition for other art galleries in larger "cosmopolitan" cities. This is absolutely a must-see in Saskatoon!

Andrew Koehn

A wonderful venue for Saskatoon and the world's art community. The rRemai mModern facility offers something for everyone and is truly a stunning structure. Way to go Saskatoon, thank you for providing a world class Gallery and Museum, a worthy successor to the Historic Mendal Art Gallery. The children's craft center is a treat. The gift store provides access to beautiful artisan crafts and unique items. The onsite restaurant, "Shift", provides a unique dining experience with a stellar view. Picasso's never looked better.

Thomas Eastman

Visited when my family came to town. Had a great time. Very cool art.

Jeff Davis

This place is a good start for Saskatoon. The building is interesting and handsome. Collection has some big names, but not necessarily many notable works. Lots of ready mades.

D.

I love the new gallery here in Saskatoon. I also miss the Mendal.. it was interesting!

Devin Zerr

Neon room was great. And Picasso

Lillian Lewis

My family and I visited this museum today and it was spectacular. Our 4-year old enjoyed looking at the art with us and engaging with the interactive play area. Our 17-year old enjoyed the thought provoking and visually engaging exhibitions. We learned about contemporary Canadian artists we hadn’t heard about previously and enjoyed seeing works by modernists including Picasso. If your family enjoys modern and contemporary art, this museum is not to be missed.

Michelia Alba

I really love the architecture of the building and it looks stunning at night. The exhibition inside is also great. I enjoyed a lot.

Tyrell “relly” Batary

Beautiful and very well kept art for all tastes

Rodney Wagner

Went to Saskatoon to see the new art gallery. Very disappointed compared to what I remember of the old Mendel Art Gallery. Beautiful building but some of the art literally looked like garbage. And some pieces of art - things my kids could have done better at the age of three. Did see a lone painting by the group of seven painter which beautiful. Saw a couple more things I liked too but overall didn't like the present exhibits. I wish I had gone to the zoo instead with my 20 year old son. He enjoys art too. The best thing is that we were able to laugh a lot that day at some pretty poor excuses for art work. Cheers!

Dany Xyz

Curated art the way I like it, Easy to navigate through museum

Eric Price

Beautiful building, lots of potential. When the gallery is fully stocked with art it will be great.

McTufs

Kinda dull picassos are underwhelming but may e I'm not a art person??

Cassandra Balzer

Not what I expected. Lots of unused space.

Clem Schraefel

Oh Man! Gotta eat hear. Very exciting! Amazing food.

khaled zoroufchi benis

If you love arts you will love this place!

John Humphreys

The Remai Modern Gallery is an immeasurable treasure that will become more so, as time passes. The people of Saskatoon should be proud of this world-class facility given our modest population size in comparison to other cities across the continents. I thank the generous donors and the vision of the Remai foundation for creating a wondrous light-filled space that all can enjoy for a lifetime. Art is in the eye and heart of the beholder, but if you don't look, you won't know what speaks to you. Cast off the belief that you have to like everything that you see, for I have been to many different galleries over the years and some stuff I think is simply meaningless to me-no matter what it's worth. On the other hand, many a piece has caused me to pause and wonder at the genius and the beauty that a fellow human has created. Inspiration, humility and a sense of contentment can be found in art as well as their opposites; find what stirs your emotions at the Remai Modern and any other Gallery you come across and you will find a piece of yourself you never knew you had. Give it a visit and see what it is all about. I recommend it.

P

Such a cool and unforgettable experience. I can’t wait to be back in Saskatoon to visit Remai again.

Ken Asher

Nice exhibits. This season has a lot of local and aboriginal works.

Jibz Esquivel

Always a pleasure!

Cristina Salerno-Lucak

Beautiful location. I wish they bring more European art like Picasso. Some areas can be holding more interesting stuff

temaxyligan. Канал в отпуске!

Hey, guy who trying to found Ron, you found it or not?

Rochelle Haubrich

Beautiful space. Great customer service. Love the architecture and the views. Can't wait to try the new restaurant. My favorite was the art piece hanging above the stairs. Good mix of art for everyone!

hector lagdon martinez grisales

Good to take your kids and for going yourself and enjoy the nice arts in display.

Anna Bolen

I have been visiting the Remai Modern Art Gallery for about three years now and I have loved seeing all the different exhibits that have come and gone throughout the years. Recently I visited the Thelma Pepper photography exhibit and it was one of my favourites that I have seen thus far. The day admission prices are decently priced (around $12 for one adult).

KizuBunny

The museum is very aesthetically pleasing and beautiful, the atmosphere is very welcoming and there are many interesting artwork pieces of different mediums to view. I would totally recommend visiting here if you’re an artist, or if you’re just looking for something to do in your free time.

Mark Beach

I’m not a big art person but I really enjoyed Remai Modern. The exhibits where interesting and had lots of variety. I was impressed with the building itself and especially the balcony that overlooks the river.

Kelsee Douglas

Really cool modern pieces! Definitely allow yourself a few hours to truly explore!

Ryan Reads Tarot

Beautiful and clean lines throughout

Pam Lowndes

It was....okay. I'm not a fan of the industrial look of the building. I did not find the exhibits that interesting. It was the day after the grand opening, so it wasn't busy.

Kayla Gelowitz

This museum has so much to offer. Beautiful views, inspiring modern art, great staff to speak and engage with.

T Duong

So fun!! And so beautiful.

Rebecca Calder

World class facility. Way to go, Saskatoon!

Der Stein

This art museum awakened my interest in art again, it was really nice!

Yeasir Arafat

Perfect place for art lovers. Overall not an attractive place for typical tourists.

Arundeep Kakkar

Picasso Gallery and other Galleries are a must watch

Winston Wayne Ferrier

Beautiful art

Vanessa Fussell

I planned a formal closing banquet here in the rivervew room for 250 people and it was awesome! I had so much fun planning it with the event coordinator, the guests LOVED the fancy location, and everything came together perfectly. The staff were also a huge help the night of and the dinner was delicious. They were also very accommodating and helped me stay in my budget while still offering everything I wanted to to my guests. I am so so glad that I planned my event here.

Gord Boucher

Amazing art to see

Mikala Henderson

The art was interesting, I suppose. The grate covering many of the windows is hideous and I'm not sure why this was chosen. Maybe my group simply doesn't understand art.

Gene Lung

Not to my taste. Don't understand modern art.

Kerry Fisher

Beautiful new facility..lots to see and do. Love its location along the river

S Stone

Amazing collection. Breath taking space.

John Stainger

In August 2 years ago, my fiance from Santiago, Chile had read about Remai Modern. We both were amazed at how unique this new addition to Saskatoon's landscape was. Now as we go into the last month of 2019 and bring in a new year. Remai Modern places Saskatoon in a most eventful, internationally popular place with an array of events that bring to Saskatoon an experience which is equivalent to similar places only found in cities twice the size of Saskatoon.

Adam Roy

Really big with nothing in it. More of a rental venue from what I can see than a gallery, but it's new, I suppose, and could evolve.

Laurie Mazurik

The staff were great and the structure itself is very nice. What I found disappointing is: 1. The LACK of the Mendel Gallery Collection, which should be on permanent display in a dedicated space acknowledgment of the years of artistic service they provided to Saskatoon PLUS a great collection of Canadian paintings 2. The decision to turn Picassos to face the wall out of respect for the indigenous artifacts & art. It was stated works like this that may have influenced Picasso. I would have liked to see how Picasso was influenced and respected the inspiration these artists generated. I feel the gallery curators made the decision for me...a stance that is rather narrow for something trying to be modern.

Kevin Scissons

Disappointed, actually. Higher expectations. Need for dedicated indigenous art display area/room/hall. As a taxpayer, there's a better way to profile our real community h

Kimmiez channelz

Thanks c95 for the free admission day

Hannah Lemieux

Very helpful staff and accommodating security.

Artak Babayan

Very modern and organized place. I need to buy a membership.

Manan Sharma

Loved the amazing and deep meaningful art!!

Kendra Michelle

Did you know that native men have large and colourful penises?? I would not even call it abstract art. We would not go back if it was free. Such a waste of money, not just for entry, but for the city.

Mihir soni

Best place for art lovers in Saskatoon. Largest collection of Picasso. Modern architecture is amazing. Outdoor scene from gallery to Saskatoon River is so beautiful. I like the portion of paper art and stair case having LED art work. Accessible for handy capped people and washroom available on each floor

Carla Kingsley

Had a blast here while on vacation. I will definitely make a return visit next time I travel to Saskatoon.

Yolanda M

Nice place to go to

Eithan Pillipow

Modern art is fantastic. If you accept that art is more than paintings you will find your appreciation expanding so much further within this space. I enjoyed the stories the exhibits are telling.

Chad Neufeld

Went there to see the building, the art was far less impressive

Justin Davidow

Amazing space, great art, awesome experience top to bottom!

Will R. Rogers

The Remai (pronounced Remmy) Modern takes it's place among great Museums of Modern Art and gives Saskatoon a world class cultural center.

Lost And Found

Make sure you ask for a media guide, it amplifies your experience.

Michael Green

The place is very quiet and peaceful. We had a great time!

MARY DO

On Tuesday evening last week, our English class visited Remai Modern Art and we had a great time. I had an excellent experience in there. All the galleries were full of awesome works from different artists. This is so modern and beautiful building. Staff were super helpful, enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable about artistic works on the exhibition. I truly love the collection of Rebecca Belmore. Belmore is a master artist in contemporary art. Belmore’s unsettling works are born of deep empathy and allow viewers to connect with their own empathy. The exhibition design facilitates this connection and consciously avoids explaining away the artworks. Her performance remains in me. It brings to me different mixed emotions and deep meanings. I definitely will to go back. I highly recommend this art gallery!

Grant

Absolutely stunning museum with lots of space and modern architecture. The gift shop is a must-see and the exhibits had a great flow to them.

Sean B.

Beautiful building w giant windows let in lots of sunlight & great river view -ideal for a plant conservatory & landscape art. Too bad its modern art (chicken wire on a trash can = $3 million piece). Security everywhere to make sure u don't touch the linoleum Picasso copy or the old rubber boot on a conveyor belt. :(

Carey Mamer

My first time there, just beautiful

Laura Sobel

Lovely museum in a beautiful location by the river, great gift shop!

Mark Boland

Amazing building, beautifully connected to the river.

Mandart Chan

This museum/collection is AMAZING!

Chloe Corcoran

A fantastic treat for anyone! Spend time looking at the art inside and then time looking at the river outside!

pebi purwo suseno

A good museum. You can see Picasso paintings and many other work of art.

Dawna Rose

Beautiful building! Sad that women artists represent just 20% of the inaugural exhibition.

Andrea Stuart

Wonderful architecture, terrific collection... And had a catered meal here which was sublime

Donald B. Campbell

The building, location and art are wonderful. It was worth the wait. I hope that more can be done to provide additional days of free admission and to make it seem less like an institution only for people who are financially secure. I bought a two-year membership before it opened and am glad I did. The movies that are free with admission or membership are also a great feature of the Remai Modern.

Matt Swerhone

Lovely building. Interesting exhibits.

Luz Cerda (DominicanosEnSaskatchewan)

I had an excellent experience at Remai Modern museum. All the galleries were full of awesome works from different artists. We definitely have to go back. Highly recommended.

Emryssa Innes

Shift is a nice, cozy and quiet place. It's good when you plan to chat, which we did. The service could use improvement but the food was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable.

Jessica DeWitt

The Remai is a mixed bag. You have to go fairly frequently to catch the gems. I often enjoy their film offerings.

Gene Teichroeb

Beautiful building and very interesting art exhibits.

Louise Dormaar

Beautiful modern museum located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. Incredible collection of Picasso lino cuts. Very interesting installation pieces that work well with the building's architecture. Small, but interesting gift shop!

Rebecca Galbraith

I organized a work Christmas Party at the Remai in 2019. We had supper at SHIFT who were great in accommodating our group of 19 people. The food was delicious, all dietary restrictions were taken care of, and they were willing to do a custom pre fixed menu for us so that we could stay within budget. Afterwards we did a private tour though the gallery. Our tour guide Rachel was great at highlighting the key pieces through all the galleries and pointing out cool features of the Remai Modern building. Most of our group had not been to the Remai before and she did a very good job of keeping everyone engaged! All the feedback that I’ve heard from our group is that everyone really enjoyed themselves! 5/5 would recommend!

Ester Divasivad

Just being in the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired building was a treat in itself and the top floor boasts Picassos. It's what I think going through an art museum would be like - (a great place to film a movie!) Although some of exhibits were closed when we went, it helped that admission was by donation but even if it wasn't, for our family of 5 their family rate was reasonable.

too legit too quit

Good gift shop, elevator access to floors.

Jon Ravichander

I've been here twice now and would definitely go back again. Great place to take visiting family and friends. Have a great meal at Shift in the lobby of the Remai, and then take a gander at the many art collections and views of the river from the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the South Saskatchewan River. Such a great addition to our city.

Julia Dawn

What a beautiful building! I love being in this space, I have 2 littles and it's a great outting for us. I (like many others) also had some photos done here and LOVE them. The building itself is a work of art.

Eric Michell

Very beautiful gallery with beautiful native american artwork

Merilee Morales

Impressive looking, very spacious.

aaron york

Fun place

Ahmed M. ElHamaky

It's a piece of architecture you will love the building from the first sight . When you enter you will be taken by the atrium and the interior. Then there is around 4 exhibition areas were you will see a lot of art works from a lot of artists and architects including picasso. I recommend passing by. The only thing that I did not like was the lighting over some art works it was not focused to show the beauty of if. Such as the Eril lighting collection. So I appreciate to reconsider lighting design again.

Jeffrey McLaughlin

Always new. Always cutting edge. Always Saskatoon

Scott Allan Neufeld

Wide views of the Saskatoon riverscape, limited art exhibits, is missing that vibrant alive vibe that brings art to life.

Lee Jones

Recently moved to Saskatoon and I just got the chance to tour the rRemai. I'm so proud to have this available in my new home city! I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon touring the galleries. Great place and definitely worth your time! Very fair admission prices, too.

Tegwyn Curtis

A beautiful museum, with lots of light in the corridors that makes the whole atmosphere very welcoming. I loved the variety of art in the different exhibits, with some traditional mediums as well as contemporary and experimental types of art. The Thelma Cook exhibit on while I was there was incredible - photographs of pioneer women that are so simple and traditional, but so beautiful and enticing. I loved the chance to see some more of Ruth Cuthand's work as well.

Russell Davidson

The building and location are wonderful. The amount of art in the building is less impressive. There are a lot of theatres in the gallery detailing noteworthy people but not very many pieces of art.

Nicole Boczula

The museum itself is a work of art. The space is light and creative, with beautiful views. Since the Remai switches out the art, it's worthwhile going when there's an artist's work you love

Y S

Very nice place, and very nice staff!!

Chuck Laturnus

Building gets 5 stars! Exhibits get 1 star! Disappointing. The Picasso exhibit was very interesting, but all others were nothing more than fillers. Nothing of interest, local pieces were disappointing. There was a lot of wasted space also. I'm a little embarrassed to say this is my Museum in my City!

RODDY

Great new gallery in saskatoon highly recommend it

Joel Usick

Beautiful space!

Nagini Mort

This museum is just sad. The very few exhibits they have are so incredibly boring and unappealing. What a waste of space and taxpayer money. The building is very beautiful but there is literally nothing to see there worth your time or money.

Jordan White

Awesome addition to the city. Beautiful views of the city from the second floor! I would highly recommend a stop at this gallery. Watch out for free admission days as the price may be a little high..

lamisa malik

Good

dave wind

No really worth your time visiting this gallery. In my opinion the best part is the building itself.

Timtwoface (Timtwoface)

Great!

Tune Ini

Cute place to visit and explore

Lois Riley

We enjoyed the lunch there, but service lax.. Avocado toast. Veget selections. Gift shop displayed colorful designs. These Lenticular Coasters were designed in the Netherlands, shape-shifting circles !!

Kai

the mac n cheese was fire and averything is super clean

Brad Randall

Great museum located on the banks of the south Saskatchewan.

Mosabbir Alam

People who actually understand Art's

John Beaver

It's a modern art gallery! Very large, many rooms to hang art in. There is a wonderful restaurant, and a Gift Shop too! The studio on the main floor where you are guided to make you own piece of craftwork was a hit with the kids, definitely check that out when you go. Located right on the banks of the Saskatchewan river, the setting is perfectly beautiful for a modern art gallery, and after a tour around the Remai's many floors, a walk around the stunning Meawasin trail is the perfect way cap to your day.

Graeme Judkins

Best bearings in town

Beth Berg

Very good. Seniors admission price was reasonable $10. Current exhibits are interesting. Staff was helpful.

Carlene-Marie Roberts

Very enjoyable experience

Riley Chouinard

Security guard on the third floor was a little power hungry but otherwise cool facility

Scott Faulkner

Great spot for the city. They rotate the exhibits often enough that it’s always worth seeing what’s new.

Andrew Wallace

Beautiful building, interesting exhibits, but needs to be curated better. The entire gallery has a really awkward flow.

Gary Baumhour

Not much for displays for the size of the building very disappointed large rooms that could have held more

JY Jennifer Park

Good place, but nothing really impressive w art pieces... 30 minutes were enough to look all. Even staff said no more than 1 hour! Shift restaurant, no recommended!

Lister Yes

It's f'n great!

Muhammad Jaseem

Good way to spend day. But parking kind of an annoyance.

bilal kharsa

It's one of the most beautiful places in Saskatoon love it.

Chic Galore

Nice to go to once a while

Gloria Fletcher

I would give this horrible monstrosity no stars if possible. A giant waste of taxpayers money. I will NEVER visit this place that should not have been built in a place that ruins the river bank

Geri Fernet

Amazing ambience, food unique

Cool Beans

It was so cool there was this one thing there I can't even describe it it was so cool and beautiful I just couldn't stop looking at it I must have stood there for a good ten minutes just staring i think that the security guards were really weirded out they didn't know what to do about me but I didn't care i just wanted to keep staring at the art. I eventually needed to stop because my mom tapped me on the shoulder and she said that I couldn't keep looking at it and we needed to go to the second floor otherwise i would have kept looking at it for idk how long. I suggest you go there asap before they take that thing away because their always changin it up you know. Anyway I 10/10 totally recommend if they can keep bringing in things like that.

chenoa blackmore

Had trouble enjoying sara cwynars beautiful exhibit about feminism, censorship and perceptions of reality while security guards were leering at me and following me around making me and my partner feel extremely uncomfortable.

Alissa Klassen

Had a guided tour for the first time and it was fantastic! I believe the guides name was Brenda, and she was well informed, interesting and made everyone's ideas feel creative and inspiring. A really nice experience! Obviously, great art, too.

Bhupender S

Great gallery but all these lights were off sadly i was not very impressed. and make sure to ask if there is anything in gallery which is out of order or not working and if so then, please do not hesitate to ask discount on your entry tickets.

Nelly Zepeda

Waste of money. Mendel family and Picasso pieces were nice. Jimmie Durham gallery was a complete waste of space, can't believe they actually display this guys work. Would be nice if they had a section for local Saskatoon or Saskatchewan artists.

Shawna Lepage

Love the art program for kids and the creative space to use your imagination!

Braden McNair

Wasn't a huge fan of the art. Its all contemporary and just didn't find it that interesting

Mr. Saskatoon Reviews

An inspiring gallery showcasing some great talent. I especially liked that they had several local artists featured. Overall, the space is wonderfully designed with an unbeatable view of the river. Do try to arrive early to avoid rushing; we only had about half an hour to explore when we went and I don't think that was enough time. Until next time!

marthajayne1197

First of all finding the Remai was a nightmare among all of the construction currently happening in that area of the city. After finding it and parking in the underground parkade, which could also use more signage, we finally found our way inside. The attendants at the front desk were not busy as there was no one else there at the time but still could not provide clear information. They told us if we wanted to just visit the front floor it was free. I have no idea why they would think that expressing interest in the galleries we would want to visit whatever the exhibit on the first floor was supposed to be. The room was filled with people listening to a speaker when we peaked in so we decided just to go upstairs. The security was quite rude to my mom as she tried to head upstairs and instead of just asking for her ticket he blocked her way similar to what you would do with a child. Upstairs the galleries were unimpressive especially without any information on them. I believe again this could have been the fault of the admissions desk as they didn't tell us there was any information to do as self guided tour and there certainly was not much information in the galleries. Again the security was rude to my mom who has balance issues and simply pressed a finger against the wall, a blank wall not close to any art, he immediately scolded her that it was not allowed. I would like to see a schedule of when the films restart to actually catch the whole film but could not see that information anywhere either. If you are going to visit I would try to get I tour I guess. I am not sure if this gallery is meant to be directed only at older, wealthy crowds of patrons but it sure feels that way. Especially if you are with children or teens I would not waste the time or money to come. As another note my mother and I have both been involved with our local art communities and do enjoy galleries usually but modern art in the styles at the Remai need context, history, SOMETHING and we did not have enough information to find the value in the pieces.

simona cell

Would not pay to go. Did not like that exhibits were hidden away behind doors. Huge space, but very bare. Would have liked to have seen the walls covered in beautiful, colourful art. Biggest complaint is the emptiness for the building size.

Neil McHaffie

Huge disappointment. Dreadful art, some closed areas, just a waste of time.

alana wakula

Confusing and unwelcoming layout. A good start but needs some work.

Matthias Tunmise Adigun

Great gallery of modern art. It was very educating and exciting.

VANESSA Ombud

What a great location to spend a sunny afternoon! I love the sitting areas overlooking the river to digest and discuss the exhibitions, or to simply read and have a coffee. People go just to hang out. Stop into Shift for coffee and a scone or one of the daily desserts specials.

Owen Kalbo (Kalbo)

Gorgeous, insiteful, and informative and interactive staff

Muhammad Anees ur Rehman

Angela D

Not going back any time soon

Null E

I liked the stairs exhibit with all the lights, however the rest of the art peices were super boring. Super over priced for what should be a public exhibit.

ali fazeli

More places like this should be in saskatoon to make it a beautiful city

Avery Terma

Great views!

Katie Gilbert

I love coming here everytime I come to saskatoon from the US.

Saskatchewan Retail

Nice addition to the River Landing area in Sasktoon. A modern take on art gallery and plenty of areas to sit down, take in the art or relax and view the river. Had a nice experience recently with a friend.

lyla smith

Need more

CROSSPOINT CHRIST- CENTERED MINISTRIES INT'L INC.

Nice place to visit

Mark Forbes

Beautiful building in a gorgeous location right on the river. If you love modern art you will enjoy a visit here

Tanis Shipman

Guess we aren't art people. Kinda boring and expensive

Adam Bartsch

Fantastic gallery. Visited with a school group and was treated first class.

Jess Richter

Came up to see "Borderline" and was not disappointed! Such a fantastic show. The curation at the Remai is always top-notch, and having facilitators present in the exhibit space was such a great experience! They were wonderful, knowledgeable, and I had some great conversations with them about the work.

Tam Trinh

Great art exp.

F

Some of the art pieces were interesting, but there were not very many exhibits (3 small galleries) to look at for the price of admission.

Danielle Comeau

Beautiful gallery, love the views. Picasso exhibit is amazing.

Nicole Park

It was unique and different from other usual gallery. I could say it is weird. But anyway I enjoyed it. Inside was so clean and I liked their lockers for the coast as well, they were so convenient.

Glenn Hartmann

Disappointed

Margot M. D.

Nice building and view on the river, but almost no art in it, and very expensive for a public funded building. The shop is not interesting either. It doesn't seems like a finished project.

Pants OnFire

Creative activity area for the kids. Friendly, helpful staff. Complementary lockers for bags/coats. More exhibits than I had time to really look at. Great store with interesting merch.

Joleen AE

Great location! Nothing else was impressive...

Melissa Ryon

Was a little disappointed beautiful building but I preferred the old Mendel art gallery

Lynn Bloom

An hour of my life I will never get back. Complete waste of time.

Ella Scott

Had a great tour guided by "David", he is very knowledgeable and explains the art very well! I'm not an arts person but he explained the meaning behind a lot of the pieces which was great. We became members thanks to this!

Jordan Young

What a beautiful place! The open concept makes it feel warm, inviting, and spacious. It offers areas to reflect, relax, eat, and converse with friends. It also has one of the largest Picasso collections, which is amazing in itself. I look forward to my next visit.

Isadore Wichihin

Great pub/art gallery

matt Balon

An amazing gallery!

Chris Cey

Can't believe we spent this much money on it. The building itself is great but wanted to leave within the first 5 minutes. So much wasted space

Marshall Folster

Love the modern style to it

Sid Darras

I love it. Beautiful art. Beautiful building. Very helpful staff. I highly recommend it!

Brad Dmyterko

Wonderful decor and open modern tasteful dining

Andi Andersen

Really a beautiful building, but I did not get the art at all, but I guess this is different from person to person.

Jodi Holliday

Stunning building and amazing art.

S Warren

Attended the opening weekend to see the building. Very disappointed in the building design and layout. No attempt to have a design that blends into or enhances the beautiful riverbank setting. While the natural lighting inside the building was very bright, I found the building itself to be sterile and cold. Nothing inside connected to the riverbank setting, and not even a potted plant to bring some naturalness inside. There are many large windows overlooking the riverbank, but most are covered by a dull brown metallic grating, so the viewer must squint through holes to see the fantastic views. One of the only windows NOT covered by the "cheese grater" covering was on the main stairwell to the second floor. That window provides a wonderful view of the side of the freeway bridge. The sterile feeling and lack of connection to the natural riverbank area does, I guess reflect the intent of most modern art, which seems to want to separate art from the natural world. On that part, this new gallery excels. It is truly "the cheese grater on the river".

Dea Barasha

A place where you can let your mind wonder around. Lots of art pieces and just an amazing, soothing experience for the soul and mind. I love spending a few hours just taking in the view not just the art but also the the river and downtown. Very neat and clean, you are guaranteed a fun experience there.

Dan L.

Cool place to check out. However, won't go back again

Jaret Piller

A great space in an ideal location. The museum exceeds expectations from the first steps through the main entrance. The interior is light, airy and inviting; a nice contrast to the darker and more industrial exterior. The gallery spaces are free of distractions and the art is displayed beautifully. The galleries also seem to be designed for versatility and I look forward to seeing how they adapt to new exhibitions in the years to come. If you live in Saskatoon or if you’re here for a visit, you have every reason to enjoy a visit to our museum.

Jack Reed

Beautiful building, interesting art

Britney McKinnon

This is a wonderful art museum! A gem in the rough! The staff is extremely friendly and go above and beyond to ensure a insightful, easy and full experience! It is a lot to take in for one trip so plan to get a membership, which is super cheap for all the perks that come with it! There is a excellent restaurant on the ground floor that also serves coffee and has saskatoon’s only patio on the river! I look forward to many more visits to this museum.

Tanya M

I love the Learning Center! And the building and layout is amazing

Beverly Schindelka

Fell in love with the gallery. Will definitely become a member and visit more often! The views of the river are fantastic. A terrific place to go and spend a relaxing afternoon. The Cameco play area on the 2nd floor offered a fun place to sit down and rest even if you don't have children! The staff was very respectful of my medical alert service dog too. A wonderful afternoon was spent here. Went with a visiting friend from Europe to see the Picasso exhibit. She was very surprised to come to Saskatoon and and he able to see works from Picasso here! The gift store is beautiful too!

Chris Reid

The Picasso gallery and feature film was awesome

Randy Roesler

Honest .. this type of exhibit is not my cup of tea. The building and the displays were well laid out and spacious. Most of the displays I could understand, but lots just were beyond me. If you are an artsy type, I'm sure you would be thrilled. PS: gift shot has some really unique stuff and even some cool thing you can probably afford.

Darren Weber

Great place. Very nice. Amazing views

Nick Thompson

My mother used to say if you cant say anything nice, don't say anything at all.. so ill leave it at that... here's some pictures of my favourite pieces of "art". In all honesty, it was just not my thing. A friend i was with really enjoyed the experience. She would have given 5 out of 5 stars.

Pat Yerex

Beautiful gallery and impressive exhibits I will be returning often.

kishpreet kaur

Wonderful day spent!! Amazing art!!

louis birthday

It's got nice views but I miss the old gallery for some reason

Neil Nape

Prefect architecture, but not for the ticket

Dave Dave

I wish there were a couple of more exhibits, or the existing were a bit larger. Overall, very good.

Jim Hall

While I was looking forward to my first visit to the Remai, I went away disappointed. The gallery is huge and in my view impersonal and cold. I much preferred the intimacy and warmth of the old gallery - the Mendel. The exhibitions in the various rooms of the new Remai were too spread out in the huge rooms with their high ceilings. It was all too stark. Whenever I visited Saskatoon in the past, I tried to set aside some time to go to the Mendel. I'm not sure I'll make the same effort to visit the Remai in the future.

Becky Machnee

The store is so well curated. Great place to find the perfect gift.

Alexis Carretero

My children and I loved the learning studio!

Oscar Chocano

Love this museum, I went there on Feb 2020 and had an amazing time. Definitely, will go back next time I go to Saskatoon.

Very disapointing experience. Parking and signage to front entrance to the Art Gallery were not entirely clear. The art exhibits at the time are not worth the admission fee, very uninspiring and boring. The only really good ones were the ones that were donated by the "Mendal Family" which were beautiful but too few. Was hard to appreciate art when the security guards were glaring and following your every move, making me feel rushed and unwelcomed. The museum is very cold and sterile and lacks any sense of Saskatchewan pride which I was hoping to see a bit of inside (ex: local SK artists, artwork, sculpture, etc.) Would have been nice to have at least some potted plants inside to make it more inviting. Huge empty building with few things to look at, river view was nice but alot of it was blocked by ugly metal fencing. Confusing museum layout, no smooth direction on where to go. Gift shop and restaurant felt too ritzy for the average person, would've been nice to have a moderately priced coffee shop inside. Overall it was not the experience I was expecting and wished the Mendal Art Gallery was still open as I would go there instead.

Great place to visit and experience the works of Canadian artists. They had a special Picasso linocut exhibit which was amazing. The building itself is stunning.

An amazing display of modern art in a spectacular building and setting on the riverbank in beautiful Saskatoon. Take a guided tour to get the highlights and then spend more time with your favourites...you will probably be surprised at the quality

A very modern building with unique exhibits....not ones you would normally find. Keep an open mind especially with the Jimmie Durham exhibit that give fibre art a whole new meaning!!! Loved the various displays .... so different from anything I have seen elsewhere. The gift shop was fabulous!! A wonderful experience in a small city... Bravo Saskatoon!!!

Presley Derksen

Really neat art and nice staff of course. It would ne nice to see something else to do there...

I've changed my view on this building. The more I look at the building the more I come to love it. It fits perfectly where it is. I hope it welcomes many to our city as a key place to visit. Also hope it inspires future artists and designers. Well done. Look at the beautiful building at night

Was able to take in the exhibits tonight with a sponsored free night at Remai Modern. An interesting mix of exhibits. Thought provoking and important.

Beautiful building and wonderful exhibits. It's great to see a gallery in a larger Canadian city that doesn't pander to Canadian or special interests, but rather displays thoughtful, innovative work of different styles. A must see!

Mark Schollenberg

World class art gallery. Some amazing works from big name artists. Definitely worth the visit. The building itself is worth the visit.

Waste of taxpayers money. A better use of this ugly monstrosity (the exterior looks like it needs S.O.S pads to remove the rust) is a shelter for the city's homeless population!

The rRemai mModern is a beautiful building, with a couple of shops, resteraunt, kids area, and a lot of art in a number of media (movies, kinetic sculptures, paintings, etc.) The kids area is always free, but the rest of the attractions may not be kid friendly. Overall, I'm not an art person and I (mostly) enjoyed our 2 hour visit (with a toddler in tow). Will definitely be back.

Such a beautiful building that pushes the boundaries of prairie architecture. Check out the design store as well!

Amber Hafeez

Beautiful Picasso exhibit, staff are very knowledgeable

Wine, yoga riverview! What more could you ask for? Oh viewing the gorgeous exhibits! A perfect evening.

Mathieu Letendre

Superb modern art gallery. Great view of the river. A must-see in Saskatoon.

Steven Ternovetsky

Pleasantly surprised with the exhibits considering the change over, however exhibits such as Thelma Peppers retrospective on Ordinary Women, continue to provide thought provoking works to the museums visitors.

Seriously irresponsible waste of money. Art work of actual decent quality doesn't even need this expensive of a platform to display. Whoever was part of this needs to be held accountable.

Lovely gallery overlooking the river. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibitions. Great job to all the curators for putting such thought provoking and well-researched exhibits together!

Bill Jackson

Nice way to spend an afternoon. Local artists have terrific displays.

Steven Gelleta

How can this stuff be called art. A two year old could make better art.

Lizann Bougie

Excellent COVID safety protocols in place. The exhibits were wonderful, they had a children’s craft on Sunday which my daughter loved, and the staff were all pleasant, friendly, and went above and beyond in kindness.

Natasha Clark

Beautiful oasis in the city to expirence some culture

Blaine Natomagan

Great place to take family

Gorgeous building and fascinating art

If you love being underwhelmed definitely go for a visit.

Such a wonderful addition to the city. I look forward to returning many times.

I can sum up my visit to the Remai Modern in one sentence...I don't get it. In my humble opinion the building itself is a huge eyesore and I didn't find the inside to be any better. Again...I just didn't get it. For me the best thing there was the view of the river. I guess art is art but to me most of what I saw was just...well...an incomprehensible waste of space. And speaking of space they sure have a lot of empty space in there. Such a big building for so little art. The one exhibit that might have made the whole price of admission worth it was the Picasso exhibit. It was the one thing I was actually looking forward to seeing. Unfortunately for me and my rating of the place it was closed for renovations or something. Anyway...I'm sure there are people that enjoy the Remai but to me it was a waste of time and money.

Very dissaponting that the Mendel Gallery was closed for this 'modern' mistake. Books, art and any kind of knowledge should be free and open to all- not just to those who can afford it. Just another situation that demonstrates Saskatoon is going in the wrong direction. Greed over community.

Jamie Prefontaine

The gallery inside is modern, stylish and well conceived. It offers an exceptional space for thought and exploration. I am looking forward to seeing what exhibits they bring through. Being understated is the gorgeous event and conference spaces and the added potential those bring. I can't say I am thrilled with the color they chose for the exterior but that is minor in the grand scope of things. Overall a exciting addition to our city.

Carolyn Giesinger

Beautiful architecture. Light, windows and views of the river are stunning! Employees and volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful. The art we viewed today was wonderful, rivaling many of the galleries we've visited in Europe. Canada is …

Over priced

Nothing in the gallery intrigued me. For how big the building is and how much money it cost to build, it should take me more than 15 minutes to see the whole thing. I miss the old Mendel gallery. Seems like the remai is a highly exclusive gallery made for rich art snobs.
