You have the opinions of real people like you who consumed the services and products of Royal Canadian Mint (Museum) in the area close to Saint Boniface (Canada).
At the present the firm gets a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and that score is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings that it reaches is nearly the top, and it is based on a high number of opinions, so we may think that the assessment is quite credible. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are pleased, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to set tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
They show you how money is made. The tour guide made it as fun as it could be.
Great experience to see all the equipment used to mint all the circulation coins. Good place for currency enthusiasts. There are also free self guided tours and paid guided tours one can take around their facility. I would recommend to visit during weekdays as you can see the machinery running.they also have a small shop where you can buy limited edition coins and souvenirs.
Fun tour, beautiful building.
It's a great place it's not as cheap as MCC but still find good deal
Tour was cheap (Around $4.50 for an Adult) and very great!
Tour was very informative. Pretty nice set up that they have. And very cheap
Very cool place to tour. The tour is not free; it costs a little money, and essentially is just a walk up and down a hall as you cannot go into the spaces that they are making the coins. They explain the production and history of the Canadian press, and while it's unfortunate that you can't go near the machinery or anything, it is still very informative and cool. The tour also didn't take very long, but in being so fast paced it might be difficult for people with limited ability to keep up, as I don't remember there being much available for seating or mobility aids.
A great and productive factory that makes the canadian money.
One of the best place to must visit in Menitoba. RC mint produce coins formore than 75 countries.
I went on the tour that they offer, it was extremely boring. Just a long walk looking g through windows of a manufacturing plant. Nothing exciting. This was so disappointing.
I love going into the mint and finding out about our Canadian currency. They have wonderful and insightful tours, and a lovely boutique on the main floor. Just be aware that you may not take photos inside the mint.
Was able to see where the coins from my were made
Wish the tour had more info . Cheap tour .
It was awesome place for a tour. I had a great experience, also tour guider's were soo cool and awesome.
I have been at Royal Mint on free dinosor event with my family. There were free activities for kids like face paiting, balloons, coloring pages. We saw a manufacture area and a huge collection of coins I have never seen.
Cool place if you like learning about new things
As a coin collector I was unimpressed.
Tours are fun and entertaining, shop is stocked and a great place to look around. Wish the grounds were better set up for enjoying the landscape and fountain.
Great tour, very informative!
Wish the tour was open but the staff we're very knowledgeable and helpful
The tour takes visitors through an enclosed corridor above the workshops where the coin minting process takes place. Visitors can witness all stages of the minting process, and will learn about all the well engineered features of coins that are desiito make them more durable, easily identifiable by the visually impaired. Engaging and educational! You can also purchase some custom made coins in the lobby as well as touch and lift a gold bar worth 880k CDN! This mint produces coins for around 70 countries.
Beautiful place with 85 flags from different countries
Good place to visit while in Winnipeg because there are only 2 in Canada. 45 min tours on the hour every hour. Must call to reserve time slot. Learned a lot about coins made here. Great educational visit for kids. Tour guide was very informative.
Today I was just at the gift shop to buy Christmas stocking stuffers. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Amazing coins+
This place is as good as cash money!
Family holiday adventure awesomeness
very informative tour, I would recommend.
Pretty cool tour, the guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer every question. The tour is cheaper on the weekends because the machines aren’t operating but still worth going to see.
Them make alot of money here. I would recommend walking and reading all the flags! Then take a break and look over the water watching the geese!
Really cool place, lots of collectable coins. You get to see the process of circulation coins being made. Beware: No Photos!
Very interesting and the tour guide, Nick, was great.
Great boutique and great tour. You can learn the history behind coin minting in Canada and learn how it is done today. You are able to see some of the machinery that is in use. Best to book in advance.
Gorgeous location, friendly staff, lots of parking.
I love coming to the shop here and seeing all the neat designs of coins and different merchandise they have, great for unique gifts!
I enjoyed the tour of the mint. The tour guide was wonderful. From learning about the architecture of the building to making money for so many countries; They recycle most of the products used in the process.
Entrance is free ( or at least on the day I visited it was). It is worth a visit, at least once!
Outstanding service! The place to go for the latest in collector coins.
I like coins so a visit to the Mint was a must. My girlfriend and I took the tour and I bought some coins in April, 2015. We returned in July and bought several more coins. I went back in October right before I was set to return to America, and the young lady that gave us the tour in April remembered me. The staff are very friendly and courteous. I recommend a visit here to everyone; a lot of fun to be had; an absolutely beautiful building.
Not only does it create coin currency for Canada, but also produces coin currency for other countries around the world. Very informative tour guides!
Very interesting place.
Neat place to visit. No tours and no gold bar right now but the Boutique is open!
On point, a nice place to start a tour
I thought it would be more exciting but it was rather plain. However, what excitement could there really be in money. There was at least some interesting information and innovation. Tour times are too sparse and when I checked online I did not see times. We were unwilling to wait so we just walked around and read the signs for ourselves. All the souvenirs were very expensive. Some items did look pretty cool though. The building is very beautiful.
The guided tour was enjoyable and informative.
Well worth the experience to discover how our coin vs. Abs others area made
Was really interesting and fun ... should visit with friends or family . Great display of history of coins
Very interesting tour
Interesting tour. Call for reservations.
Very interested to learn/see them make other countries money!
Lots of interesting stuff, facts and history. At the parking lot, you'll find a flag of each country that used the Canadian Mint at least one time. Good collection of coins to buy for souvenir and collection, matches all tastes and theme. Didn't get a change to go for the inside tour but will go back again.
Great location and coin collection
It was a fun tour.
Been here many times in the past, however the tour guide we had was absolutely amazing! She had so many stories about the Mint that it truly made the tour a memorable one.
Very informative and surprisingly entertaining. A good hour-long stop.
Worth a visit. The tour is interesting too.
Great place. Good tour
Worth doing. A great tour. Very interesting for a very reasonable price.
I had to go on Saturday, when the presses weren't running. The tour is less expensive because of that. I advise you go when they are actually striking coins. I have a better appreciation for the change in my purse now.
Great place to visit. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the guided tours are interesting and informative.
Beautiful lobby and interesting free tour.
This place makes money, call the day before if you want to take a tour
They make coins for countries around the whole world here. The tour is lack luster, with less information than a 5 minute skim of a wikipedia page on coins but neat too see none the less. The Mint is open but nobody is making coins on weekends though, don't go on weekends.
Tours are well organized. Our guide Maya was friendly and and answered all the children’s curious questions. We were just a little disappointed to see the mint almost shut down as most of the workers were on holidays so most of the machines were not operating.
Was a nice place to get a gift for someone you love
Fun place for a quick tour. The coins they mint are quite amazing
Interesting place to tour
Really great tour. Knowledgeable, interesting, and not too long. Also great gift shop, with a variety of interesting things for many budgets, ages, and taste.
It was so cool to be able to watch the process behind the striking of coins. In most of the building you cannot take photos and you're looking from behind glass at a distance, but it's super enjoyable. We had the opportunity to touch and hold a gold brick. Do it if you can! The self guided tour for only $2.50 is super worth it.
Very nice place, you can lean a lot from the tour. The flag way is really unique
Fun tour! Learned a lot of interesting facts and they have a lot of cool coins on display for purchase. Got my Canada 150 coin set!
Great! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Went with my mom, and 10 & 12 year old. Our interest was held the whole time and learned lots of interesting facts and fun facts!
Although no machinery was operating our tour guide, Katie, seemed very well-versed on the history and details of the Royal Canadian Mint. Very educational and interesting.
Was a fun filled tour. Loved it
Do the tour it is very informative and interesting. Great gift shop with plenty to choose from. Staff are very friendly. Well worth stopping in.
The people there were all very informative and excited about the coins and the history. All of the items sold there were also extremely neat and the sheer selection of collector coins to admire and/or purchase is impressive. Overall a very fun experience in a place you wouldn't expect to be fun
The staff is very nice and have so much knowledge about this museum. (Great service!) It’s interesting what will you see here but kinda boring (not interactive at all), i think is better weekday so you can see people making money. Oh and it’s FREE! Unless you wish a guided tour.
Amazing sights! Fun to learn about how money is made/printed. Make it a family day!
You're probably not going to find a better mint tour anywhere. This place is pretty legit as far as mints go. Tour itself is pretty limited to the process of making coins so don't expect to see much else. I.e actual coins from the 78 countries or whatever it is they manufacture for.
Great experience in Royal Canadian Mint
I really like the mint i am glad i got to visit while on a work trip. Good time to spend an hour or so.
Fascinating place. Tours are available to see the process of minting coins and a well stocked boutique to purchase exceptional coins.
Excellent place to see but go during the week to see the coins being made and go on one the exchange weekends to get uncirculated coins at face value
it's so cool; I didn't know our country makes the coins to more than 75 other countries around the world. Also I got to lift a 99.9999% real gold block and it was so heavy :)
Good to now about lots of coins collection and their history
Cool place, the tour director is also amazing and can answer most of the questions you have.
Seemed like the only thing to do in Winnipeg. Wasn't overly impressed. Did the self tour on a Saturday, which consisted of looking through windows down at factory machinery with no workers present and not being able to take any photos regardless due to restrictions. The highlight was the store which had tons of beautiful coins, and I picked up one as a souvenir.
Great way spend an hour, and reasonable at $15/hr. Educational and fun, our guide knew a ton of info.
Nice!!
This place was positively buzzing on Canada Day. Staff were helpful and patient with all the questions. Lift the Million dollar gold brick it won't fit in your purse.
Great tour at the Mint. Tour guide Jeremy was very entertaining and informative. Highly recommend any out of town and locals to visit this place
Not huge but a good knowledgeable experience. Do take the tour with the guide otherwise you won't understand anything.
Just superb. Exceptional service in the gift shop made up for the rushed feeling of the guided tour ( why did she keep checking her watch ?’!) I learned a lot and enjoyed the visit.
Educational experience!
It was ok visit. Nice the mint was free. Nothing much has changed since I was a kid. It was interesting the longest lines where for balloon animals, face paint and animal creatures exhibit. Not very focused on currency. If they are doing a free day it would be educational to have guides share information and make it more educational for the public. Lots opportunity to engage new Canadians or future Canadians. Proud Winnipeg has one of our national mints. Nice event with my son.
Great place to have a look around and they have a shop so you can get unique gifts. There isn't too much to do once you've seen it but it is worth the trip. We decided not to pay for the tour as it was pretty pricey and I think it was the right decision because you can go up and have a look anyway. Lovely day out. Well maintained place.
The tour is worth every penny ;) Very informative guides. Also has a display of Vancouver Olympic medals.
This place was terrific. It was spotless clean the guide was very knowledgeable and there was so much to learn about the process. I'm so glad they give tours here It is just a great facility in the parade of flags was beautiful.
Staff went above and beyond and were very knowledgeable regarding coins etc in the gift shop area. Tour was informative but not boring. Clean area with picnic spots as well.
The tour was very informative and the gift shop has lots of cool coins and collectibles!
Love buying collector coins here
cool architecture
Visited in March 2018. We booked our tour in advance which I would recommend because it was busy and some people who did not do this were unable to join at the time they wanted. I appreciated the tour leaders style and gave just enough information to keep group interested. There were some young children (maybe 4 and 6) with their parent who were being extremely disruptive and running all over and yelling and the tour guide did ask them to quiet down or leave, they chose to leave. I wouldn't recommend this for really young children because they maybe bored.
One of the most iconic structures and government owned business in Canada. The coins that they design are rated as the best in the world. Sadly some of the coins are priced too high making it out of reach of most collectors. They also provide large discounts to volume buyers or people with deep pockets, while leaving the smaller fish or people who can only set aside a small amout to fend for themselves at regular price with no discount at all. Not fair, especially for the fact that we are in Canada where supposedly equal rights prevail, or at least are existint on paper. RCM if you read this please review your policies, provide a fair and level playing field for all to do business in fairly, with no special treatment to some, while ignoring the others.
Was a very nice chore really enjoyed ourselves
An excellent tourist destination to see how our coins our made
Got a very good tour. Was definitely worth going to. I would recommend going during the week as the machines were not operating on Saturday. But still a good tour.
Great assortment of collector coins. Take the tour and learn how your money is made.
Great tour and appropriately priced. Lots of great products for sale as well.
Very informative tour. Great time. Go during the week, so you can see the machinery running
Very interesting and informative
I have always wanted to go and check out The Mint and it was pretty underwhelming but was still pretty cool!
Wonderful place. Lot you can learn about coining and function of a Mint. Excellant staffs. Lot of collection. Mesmerizing Boutique
Awesome coin collections to buy
Tourist trail seemed to be under construction as some signs were blank but was quite cool to watch the factory from above and see all of the machines. Bit out of the way from the city though
This is a world class facility and the tour shows you in detail how the coins are made, from designing stages all the way to shipping. This is the only one of its kind in Canada. A must see for tourists and foreigners. The building's architecture is also very beautiful inside and out. No photos allowed inside, but bring a camera for outside pictures. As a local, I would take the family every few years. It's great family activity, especially if the weather outside is unpleasant.
My family and I enjoyed the mint much more than we thought we would. I would go again.
I booked the guided tour for my family and I over the phone. Staff were very friendly. Tour itself is very interesting - I definitely learned a few fun facts about the Mint and our Canadian coins! I recommend this tour to anyone who hasn’t gone before!
When in Winnipeg highly recommend setting aside time in your plans to include visiting the the Mint. See not only where your money (coins) is actually made but also how, check schedule for when the tours are available. Careful as they make money but also have a gift shop full of items that make it difficult not to leave some of the old money behind.
This was my first time visiting the Royal Canadian Mint on a day that it was free to the public for one day only. It's a short walk throughout and got a souvenir.
Interesting Place to visit. Beautiful and interesting architecture with many windows and plenty light inside the structure. The production is in spacious and rather airy parts of the building and can be watched via huge windows inside the building. Photographie is forbidden inside and during the guided tour. Visit is recommended.
The visit last 45 min and it’s super! You learn a lot about the making of coins it’s interesting!
Fantastic tour there and I learned so much!
Fantastic tour that was informative, surprising and funny, thanks to our excellent tour guide Jeremy. Well worth the trip!
Great for people visiting Canada or for locals looking for something to do. They have a gold bar you can pick up and hold and their guided tours are great
Fun tour watching money being made.
Great tours.
Tour was really informative. Guide was energetic, engaging and knowledgeable. Great value. Would definitely recommend this to visit when in Winnipeg.
We had an amazing tour! Our guide was awesome!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. You see things from the viewing area (behind glass).
Where else can you see a solid brick of gold outside an airport in the middle east? And frankly, the mint makes some of the best looking coins in the world for us and the rest of the world.
The process is super cool to watch!
45 minute tour was informative. Cost was very reasonable. Gift shop was nice
Interesting tour of Canadian coin making facility. Proud to have the facility in Winnipeg.
The building itself is beautiful. They give a detailed tour of how coins are made from the start to the finish, for a fee. They dont make the bills, just coins. Fun Fact: they make coins for 78 countries I only came here to see and touch the gold bar. You don’t have to pay to see it. I would suggest that you would come around 11am, that’s the time an armed guard would bring out the gold bar and put it to display. You hold it and take a picture with it, it weighs about 26.5 lbs. They sell collectible coins. The staff are friendly. Overall, a nice experience.
????????????
An amazing location to tour and see how coins are made, not just in Canada but internationally. Cat is the best tour guide.
Amazing place for watch coin producing.
Just went for security clearance and orientation. Staff always friendly and professional.
Good place to know the history.
Want to know how coins make? You can find the answer here
The Royal Canadian Mint in Manitoba mints coins for over 70 countries. The tour of the facility takes you through the process from steel billets to the final distribution of the coins. If very much enjoyed the tour, as many mints don't show you much in the way of the process, but this one takes you on a catwalk through the facility.
Great tour and beautiful gift shop. They lack signs to direct you where to go. Luckily, my wife has no trouble telling me where to go. No signs to indicate parking until you have already drove all around to find the spot. Once inside the building, there should be something there indicating which way to go instead of having to guess. But the chance to hold a real gold bar is kinda cool.????
Extended family came here for a tour recently and all the equipment was offline for maintenance so the tour was free! Very professional service.
Always love visiting Royal Mint
Loved this place! Very unique place to see in Canada
Educational and interesting to see how coins are made
Interesting but not my type of tour, but Canadian made jobs is great
Went on the official tour which was very interesting. Too bad you can't take pictures in the plant. We went on the weekend so the plant wasn't operating as it would be cool to see it in action. Spent $3 (loonies only) and pressed my own coin with the maple leaf on the one side and the Royal Canadian Mint on the other. Nice souvenir. Lots of coins and coin sets for sale at the gift store.
It was really awesome to learn about he history of the coins we use every day!
Very interesting tour. One must arrive by 3.30pm to get a guided tour. Open 5-9pm. Souvenirs are sold at very economical prices.
Awesome! So many things to learn.
Good place to learn on money making.
Amazing facility, great view of the machinery, incredibly nice staff, and cool coins!
Lovely place to see how coins are produced. They supply coins for many countries. It's worth it to see the production running, which doesn't happen on Saturdays.
Friendly staff, going to bring my parents for a tour!
Cool tours!
A great place to get some coins for your collection or to take a tour and see how coins are made!
The glass-covered, triangular Royal Canadian Mint is one of Winnipeg’s most stunning buildings. While you’re there, take a tour to learn how the Mint produces 1000 coins per second, and other fun facts!
Interesting place to visit and the tour is only an hour. There is also a small area for buying gifts and specialty coins, etc. The mint produces 15M coins a day for Canada and many other countries. Try to go during the week when the machines are running. We were there on a weekend and the tour is still great just...calmer/quieter. Friendly staff, to be expected since it is Manitoba. Always enjoy travelling through friendly Manitoba. :)
awesome place to know how coons are made affordable entry price.
Get your collector coins here.
I'm a total nerd and REALLY Wanted to visit here during our trip to Winnipeg. Loved the tour and learning about all of the work this mint does for not just Canada, but countries spread across the globe. Our tour guide was awesome and so was the gift shop staff. Prepare to spend money! The grounds are amazing, as well. Well manicured and great for photo ops. I can't wait to visit again!
Nice experience. Very good guide to take you around the mint.
Great tour guide.. just wish the brick of gold was there the day i went.. I came on thursday.. should be on saturday..
I enjoyed the Royal Canadian Mint tour. It was informative and interesting. You can't see too much from up above, but they have videos going that help with that.
Loved the view surrounding the Mint.
Unfortunately we came too late. The Royal Mint was closed. But the building and the territory around it are really impressive. In front of the building there are lots flags of the countries Royal Canadian Mint made coins for. It wasn’t easy to find where the visitors’ parking, be attentive.
This was a fun visit and I'm happy I did it. Little disappointed there was no free samples at the end :p
Very informative about how our coins are made!
Interesting thing to visit as a traveler. And so many things to learn about. Go Winnipeg
The tour was very informative and the staff very knowledgeable. We learned so much we never knew…I had no idea they minted for so many other countries! Thanks for the information!
Book a tour ahead of time.
Learned lots about minting coins.
Very interesting displays.
Provides engaging tours. Small exhibit on mint items. Can purchase speciality mint there. Great for young kids and adults to check out.
Watch the process of how coins are made for many different countries. Proud to say that it is in Manitoba.
had relatives in from Hungary and Sweden, took the tour and it was well worth the trip. the young lady who took us on the tour was well trained and did a wonderful job. I thank you so much for the great information and the tour of the mint its self.
I was born in Winnipeg and been here my entire life. I had not been to the Mint in many years! I went a few days ago. I found the tour extremely interesting. Just to learn about how the colourful coins are made, how many countries they make coins for and to learn that our loonie should have been a "canooie" had the master piece not disappeared in the mail. Our guide was very informative and spoke very well. It may be years before I go again but I will deffinately go again and strongly recommend it to anyone wether you're a local or not!
Nice place to visit to know how to make coins for so many countries
very cool tour
A must to visit, only three in Canada. A lot of history about the coin around. Special for the coin collectors
Such a cool place to learn about where the worlds currency is made. Very insightful tours and the architecture is sure to please for architecture lovers.
Great tour, but may be a bit long for the little ones. It’s really amazing all the stuff they let you see vs touring the US Mint.
Neat to see the minting machines, real bar of gold, and cool Canadian coins!
Good place to visit. Only 2 in Canafa and this one is little different than Ottawa Mint.
Our annual Canada Day trip. Fascinating place!
Was a pretty neat tour and interesting about the things we never think of.
Money is made here... You can buy cool coins and get a tour. What more could be said... They make money here
A neat place to go to. It is interesting to read about the Mints history and viewing how they make some of the worlds coins.
There are 2 mints that fabricate coins in Canada Winnipeg and Ottawa. The Winnipeg mint fabricates coins used for currency and circulation and the ottawa mint makes collector coins to sell. The Ottawa mint is nice and more interactive. The Winnipeg tour is informative but not overly exciting. Worth the 45 mins 12$ tour.
A cool place to visit. Friendly tour guides and a store with interesting but expensive stuff to remember your visit.
Nice experience. Very knowledgeable guide.
It's an interesting place. The life cycle of a coin manufacturing is complicated. The tour guides are very knowledgeable which makes the tour fun.
The guide was very knowledgeable and I loved the grounds and art.
Staff was very knowledgeable and professional. And the factory floor was immaculate. It was very informative and interesting.
The architecture of the Royal Canadian Mint is truly impressive. The exhibits are very interesting. Most staff members are very helpful. Guided tours are quickly booked out. Transitions to public transit are difficult which is surprising for such an important attraction.
Arrived at a time that there was no guided tour so not much to see.
I love that mint so much. From outside, you can see the special building. At ground floor, you can see the collection of value coin, some questions about coins, try to lift up the same bar size of different material to experience their weight and a lot more. Second floor is the place you can see whole coin printed process. Tour guide is fun and friendly, ticket is very cheap (CAD8).
I was lucky because the mint was in the process of making coins at the time of the tour and that doesn't always happen. But even so, the observation deck was so far from what was happening, the only thing you could observe was people sitting at computers that operate large machines. The tour was discombobulated because it didn't start with the start of the process (5000 lb rolls of metal unloaded off the trucks and placed into the first machine) and end with the finished coins, rather it starts with "the machine shop where machines are repaired", goes to "electroplating" , etc.. The most interesting part of the visit was the "boutique" where you could see and purchase the finished product.
Super cool tour and you get to see the process of how the coins are made. Also the history of the coins and the colorizing process.
Built in 1976...this mint is responsible for minting all of our circulation coins. The flags near the entrance represent all the countries we have minted coins for.
Great gift ideas here.
Very interesting place to visit!
Interesting place. Friendly staff as can be. Beautiful decor.
A cool look behind the scenes of the Mint. It's rather short, but the price is right, free 99! We did the self guided tour, so I can't speak about the tour the Mint puts on.
Interesting coins in gift shop. Would be nice to see more and different coins. Did not take tour.
Well worth the trip. Interesting guided tour. Lots of facts about coins and money you would never guess. Try lifting an actual bar of real gold, no kidding. The gift shop has some out of this world coins for sale. Oh and they range in price from a few dollars to Thousands.
45 minute tour is just the right length for children, and to illustrate the coin production process sufficiently well. Windows into the production areas are low enough that kids can see without a lot of help.
Small gift shop with a good collection of coins to purchase. You can even pick up a full gold bar.
I did the self-guided tour, learned a lot, and thought that it was all really cool. Going to do the guided tour next time. I found the tour fine for me, but really do not see it appealing to hands-on learners or children. They should innovate their tours just like they've been innovating the coin industry!
A first-class tour of a facility that everyone uses but nobody thinks much about. Surprisingly entertaining and comprehensively informative, with a gift-shop of cool curiosities and an opportunity to mint your own coin! My son loved it, and he's 4.
The worst part is they KEEP ON CHANGING time of their tours & are less accomodative. We went there were 10 mins late for an half hour tour but did NOT accomodate 3 people more !! Next tour was starting after 2 hours & was absolutely not fitting our schedule!! But good part is they do offer ONLINE ZOOM TOURS !! PEOPLE ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL, LOCATION CLEAN N PERFECT FOR ALL AGES
Green fun tour (Sabrina? was great), cool coins . . .got to hold 3/4 million dollars.
need to go and take some photos!
The Canadian Mint in Winnipeg mint currency coins for about 70 other countries.
Cool place to check out if you find yourself in WPG with some time to spare. They do a lot more than you might think.
Great tour, very informative. They didnt have a gold bar on the day I went which sucked. Overall a must see when visiting Winnipeg.
Worth a visit. Came as a kid. Returned as an adult and just as good. They make coins for countless countries - very fascinating. Good guides, and nice viewpoints. Building feels kind of outdated, but in a good retro way. The avenue of flags is very nice.
Interesting place to visit. Beautiful gift shop, perfect for that person who is hard to buy for
Took the guided tour and the young man with us was very knowledgeable and answered all questions. This being the center of our coin production not only for our country but other lands as well. Very interesting with a store to add to your collection.
Great place Latest technology for coin minting
Interesting to see how andvwherevall our coin is made
Went for first time 4 years ago and it was interesting. Went for second time to a free activity and it was boring and chaotic.
The tour is inexpensive, informative, and not too long. We thoroughly enjoyed it with our kids who are 9 and 11. Also, the gift shop has some lovely items. The staff we're extremely helpful. Phone ahead to make a reservation for the tour and save yourself some time.
Amazing historic location
Always enjoy coming to the mint and the boutique. Boutique is open again and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Great tour. Very informative.
it was not too bad but the only good thing was lifting a gold bar
Cool History of coin production. Can see actual production and a shop where you can see and buy souvenir coins. Would visit again.
We signed up for a tour. The tour was quite informative. Spoiler alert!....... I had no idea this mint makes coins for other countries and they were one of the first to put ink on coins. For obvious security reasons you're not going to get up close to the coin making operation, but it's still pretty neat to see the operation through upstairs glass. There's lots of special edition coins in the gift shop for the avid collector with prices from $10-$500+. The flag display up front is great for pictures and represent all the countries the mint has made coins for.
Nice place for taking pictures
Very nice facility, outdoor area is nice with fountains and free parking. Inside is a limited viewing area for the public and a nice shop with neat rare and collectable coins ranging from 30$-500$+ PSO staff very friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend a visit.
Always fun to come here and visit, see all the new coins available and even hold a real gold bar. A must visit if you're in the Winnipeg area.
Very good staff.nice place to visit in Winnipeg.
Cool place to visit with the family!
Don't take a tour on the weekend as factory only runs Monday to Friday. Take a self guided tour on the weekend for free.
Beautiful place. Went here for Canada 150 for the coin exchange and it was bumpin'. The only thing I'd say is not to bring dogs. A security officer told me that it was fine to bring him, but could not bring him inside, but there was just a lot going on.
Very good tour it was a shame nobody was working to see things in action.
Very good tour stop. Interesting
????
What an excellent place. I was mesmerized by the coloured coins.
Fun tour and genuinely knowledgeable guide!
Very good experience. So much information about coins in general, guided by very knowledgeable people. I spent 2 hrs because I read everything around, but in 1 hr you could be done. My most surprising fact: It is a private entity :0
Very good and nice place
Worth taking a tour of. Many interesting facts about how Canadian money is made as well as the many countries around the globe that they make it for. The tour runs approximately 45 minutes and it is recommended that you call ahead and book a tour as they can fill up fast at peak times of the year.
Now I know how they make coins
Fascinating tour. Beautiful building and interesting history. Your kids will love it.
They have a visitors section that you can view coin history and information. They have a glass wall and you can see part of the coin manufacturing process.
It's a good way to spend some time, interesting tour, knowledgeable staff.
This is a good tour place .
Great information, with a knowledgeable guide.
The mint has an excellent facade to photograph but the excitement ends there. The tour offered inside for a fee is very short with not much to look at other than the manufacturing machines and workers at the mint. There are no exhibitions or interesting things to see. If you have seen the mint in Ottawa, this mint tour is exact the same.
They don't give out samples ????
Good to know how much hard work put into to make our money and inspire us to work even harder to earn it.
Place very interesting to visit and understand how produce the coins !
If you have any interest in currency, or how things are made, or you're just an interested person like me... don't pass up the RCM! Very cool experience. On the tour the posted information, as well as the tour guides, give you a wealth of knowledge on the minting process, the specifics of the currency made, etc. Very cool to learn. And the entire production process is able to be seen from elevated windows. Highly recommend this for both young and old. Finish it off with some really cool coins available for purchase in the gift shop for all budgets. Don't miss this if you're in Winnipeg!
Must see if you are in Winnipeg.
Great place to go on a tour. Quite informative of Canadian coin currency and of the manufacturing process
This place is amazing if you like Canadian culture history and money!! Staff is very knowledgeable and the stuff in this place is spectacular!
Great place. Enjoyed the visit
If you get a chance do a tour. INTERESTING.
I just went here to pick up a coin for someone's birthday and ended up booking a tour with my family. Staff were helpful and kind haven't been on tour yet but cant wait
Pretty interesting to see the coins being made... can buy coins at the mint...
So interesting...gotta check this out when in Winnipeg MB!
Good place to know about Canada's coin history....
I have visited on our summer vacation
Interesting to see where most of the world's coins are made.
So much fun, learned lots about the process and it was really interesting to see all the fancy coinage.
Enjoyable and educational for a school group
Great tour with Nic. Very informative and learned alot.
Little out of the way though really friendly
Interesting facts, state of the art coins making facilities.
Best mint ever !!
Went on a tour of the Mint, the guide was super informative and shared a lot of lesser known facts about our coins and the process of making them. It was really neat to see everything, especially we have one of two Mints in the country in Winnipeg. Also, great value overall based on the price of the tour and the info received
The tour was very informative, just the right length of time and the cost was family friendly!
Definitely worth the visit. Very informative tour of the plant.
The tour was very informative
Awesome, informative tour, great gift shop
Thank you for a great Canada Day experience!
You get to see how coins are made
Wonderful place to visit with family and friends.
Very interesting the guide was great so helpful. Would love to come nacl
Historic...Cool how mints are made
Courteous, secure and prompt service.
Great tour.
I loved learning some quick facts and doing the tour at the mint. I feel like it doesn't get enough love as there weren't a lot of people there when I was. It's definitely something I would recommend.
Fantastic place to visit. Amazing how many different countries' counselors are produced here. I believe it was 78.
Somewhat interesting tour if you haven't been - some facts you might not expect. Most of the action is only seen from a distance though, and the interesting procedures seem to take place inside covered machines. Not easy for small people to see through the windows, or all that engaging for the very young. Some photo ops outside but no photography on the tour. Souvenir shop consists of pricey collector coins.
For a numismatist - the tour was really quite lame and not worth the money. I didn't learn anything I didn't already know. For the steep admission price, all they do is take you upstairs and have you look through some windows at the machines - really not much to see. If you didn't know it was the mint, you'd think it was just some generic manufacturing plant. All I read was glowing reviews about this place, but I was really disappointed. We had to wait around for a tour that was on the hour - got there at 10:20 and had to wait till 11, but there was NOTHING to do/see on the first floor while waiting. You'd think they'd at least have displays for people to look at - maybe a museum, nothing. The only thing they had was a place you could lift up a real gold bar - that was cool, but only lasted 2 minutes.
Great place to learn about Canadian currency!
Very informative place. But unfortunately Guide was not available when I visited.
Book a tour in advance, they fill up. If you go on a week day you will be able to see production in action. If you go on a weekend, you can still go on the tour and see all of the equipment, but there won't be any money-making happening.
Went on tours a few times over the past couple of years ????????
Interesting. Enjoyed touring.
It's free which is great. Super simple tour. Worth checking off your list but you don't need to go out of your way to see it.
Awesome tour guide, in a small group so could ask all the questions we had.
A great place to visit! They give tours, and have a beautiful gift shop. First time visiting... we went to see the $200 gold coin, that a friend of ours was blessed to design.
Interesting tour. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Gift shop is too expensive but only because I bought too much stuff ????
Cool place to visit well worth the time
Awesome tour. Highly recommend. Go on a weekday when all the machines are working.
Wonderful place. Must see
It was fun learning about the history of Canadian Mint. And the tour guides were nice, answering every question that was raised.
Great job they do there
Well kept lawn. Looks great
Amazing architectural building!
Good tour guide. Interesting the millions of coins they produce for not just Canada but other countries.
Not interesting. You can buy the same coins in post office. Only beautiful building is worth to see.
If you are into how they make coins and distribute them for not just Canada but over 100 other countries this is the place for you. Good gift shop too
Enjoy looking at the coins on display! Very interesting tour if you go during the week when they are working!
Self guide is free. With a guide costs $8. The architecture is great. Nice landscape. The facility seems smaller than my expectation since the mint in Philadelphia seems bigger. Overall, nice staff. The most impressive thing is how the country flags are hung. They are at the same height and size instead of having Canadian at the center or highest
They take you through the tour but you don't actually get to see how the minting of the coins happen. It's just a verbal takeover. Initially when I booked the tour I was pretty excited that I'll actually get to see how the coins are made but my excitement was killed when nothing happened.
Fantastic service at the boutique every visit..exterior walk area appears to need more tlc, which would make for a more pleasant greeting for tourists and regulars alike, and for inside employees also I imagine.
It was amazing to see how coins are made. Went without a tour guide and it was a lot of fun
I always stop by here when ever I am in Winnipeg. Great place to be if you are a coin collector or enthusiast
Nice to see a mint up fairly close. Good experiance .. educational for the kids and an affiliation with the British Royal Mint
It was a interesting place to watch the money made but take the tour of the mint
One of the most original places that we have ever visited in the world. This is where money is printed for 75 coutries
Service was excellent, very helpful in all aspects, Tracy was great. Products were plentiful, lots of cool, beautiful coins and displays.
Strict adherence to guidelines that were lifted a while ago, dated, not very detailed. Add video monitors showing the stages of production for times when not much is going on, add exhibit section open to everyone and photos, add a "history of Canadian money and collecting 101" museum to the tour. So much history and info is missing, I can learn more by reading the Mint website and Wikipedia which is silly. Let people walk through the tour area without a guide, they basically just summarize what is written on the display anyway. Change laws so commemorative coins in circulation are distributed directly via public institutions and big chains based on population instead of handing off to banks - everyone in Canada should have a good shot at finding these in change. The boutique is garbage, it doesn't even offer everything that's online. The commemorative token machine is blocked off because of covid, but the pop vending machine is fine to touch? Give me a break. Also, change the silly laws - why can you include a 50 cent piece in a "circulation" set and not the penny? Why can you sell rolls and sets of circulation change, but not circulation and commemorative coins of other nations - with thier permission. Where is the display about the future of the mint? Talk about past innovations that didn't take off, hint at the future - 5 dollar coin, how the mint is coping with everyone paying with plastic or the advent of digital currency, for example. I have been looking forward to visiting the mint for over 20 years and I feel like I just got off the tour aimed at the local kindergarten.
Must see! Nice place. You don't need to pay if you are doing self guide tour!
Highly recommend the tours! We do it once a year and the guides are always incredibly knowledgeable. Really interesting and reasonably priced tours!
I really enjoyed the mint. The lady who was the guide was very knowledgeable.
Go and see. You will love it
Just okay
Loved the tour, Daniel was a great guide and very knowledgeable.
I did the tour there and I found it kind of short. Would have liked to be able to go down and see the machines run but I understand why they don't let people down there. Would have liked to see more collection books as that's pretty much what the shop is for.
Cool Place, good guided tours with plenty of information and friendly staff
Very informative tour. Unfortunately, we went during maintenance week but a great tour regardless.
This experience was on the money. Totally worth it. Best part: there is no cost to enter! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Also compliMINTary parking!
Amazing
Great place for gifts
The tour was very interesting. Had to prebook tour but it was worth it.
Nice guided tour. Open houses on July 1st.
First time there! Need to go on the guided tour soon.
It's an awesome place to visit for everyone..nice production facility, great guides with apt Information about all the background equipment and processes...one should definitely go with family and/or friends at least once.
The best place to buy coins for collection.
A very interesting place to visit. Learned a lot on the tour. Very neat place and a must to visit in Winnipeg.
Ample parking, great tour guides, lots to learn and great ambiance overall!
Good place to buy coins. Also watch for special events that are great for kids and adults alike. The tours are also available and are very interesting.
Very knowledgeable tour guide
We like to take my children visit Royal Canadian mint every year if we have a chance we went there for pictures for sure I like the flags of every country they have ,and we went there to get some coins for my collecting and Canadian bear for my children we name the bear is" Minty " we visiting to see how they make the coins
If you visit Winnipeg, must visit Royal mint.
The person was did a great job of explaining how the mint works.
Enjoyable tour around the factory, even though it is not currently in operation. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and it was a good option for an hour or so on a weekday afternoon.
A nice way to spend an hour.
Very nice and professional people
It's not that exciting. Maybe if they gave samples....
Staff very pleasant and helpful
The guided tour was very enjoyable, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and communicated all the facts very well.
Perfectly fluently helpful bilingual staff
Awesome place to visit great tour host!
Great place, very friendly service and lots of choices
Sadly the tour was boring :(
Where else can you hold a gold bar worth over $750,000
I really liked it. Was very interesting, learned a lot. Nice gifts in the gift shop.
Worth the visit for a tour.
Guided tour was a great choice, so much information on the making, packaging, and selling of coin.
I expected more from this place. A nice place to visit but I would not spend my time here for too long.
Great people who work there.
Very nice tour ...one of a kind
An "Interesting Triangular Building"-- doing "Interesting things". Following a lengthy and complicated set of "political discussions" it was decided to locate the new Mint (the existing Mint in Ottawa was antiquated and too small). An "added bonus" associated with the new building was that it could more economically source raw materials from Alberta vs the imported materials that were previously being used. The new Mint was also very efficient-- as is evidenced by their supplying minted coinage for seventy (70) countries!! Your memories of Winnipeg will be enriched by a visit to this Mint!! I hope that this Review has been helpful!
Great tour. I can't wait to see the new coins to commemorate Canada's 150 year anniversary!
Good place to visit once and take pics
Great place to see what Winnipeg contributes to the world
Great tour! The guide's were every educated.
The tour was super informative. The tour guide was engaging and friendly.
Very interesting! The Gold bar was neat to see.
Took a group of Air Cadets and it was a good tour. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a good facility overall.
My family and I (4 of us) had an afternoon tour September 16th. We all give high marks to the staff who were outstanding. The clerks at the reception area, the staff keeping the building spotlessly clean, those in the gift shop and especially our tour guide - please forgive me for an incorrect spelling Mireille. Mireille was knowledgeable and kept us on our toes asking us questions, and for answering our questions. Thanks to all for a great experience.
Friendly staff, lots of selection. Great ideas for wedding gift , birth/shower gift and Christmas
This was a neat and unique experience for us. We were there on Canada Day and they had special stations set up. They weren't running anything, but we knew that before we arrived. The staff was very friendly and engaging and paid special attention to our kids. We would love to go back during the week when they are actually running the presses.
Free admission every last weekend of May.
The royal Canadian mint is sophisticated enough to make currencies for other countries but apparently not savy enough to properly post their hours on their own website. CLOSED SUNDAYS. - Beware
Fun just to visit and see. Great coins to look at, nice facilities to see work in progress, and know that you will be entertained by being there. Beautiful building, great parking. Plus finding something cou would find as an interesting and unusual gift for yourself or loved one or friend. Something for everyone. Craftsmanship is amazing on the coins.
A look at our amazing Canadian heritage past, present and future.
Excellent tour if you like learning about manufacturing of the world's coins. You get to look down at the manufacturing floor to observe each step of the process. Friendly, knowledgeable tour guide. Tour takes a bit less than an hour.
This is such a cool place to visit. I didn't appreciate how interesting it would be to learn how currency is made. From the different Canadian coins to all the international coins, you will learn something new. I would highly recommend getting a tour. It's really cool. The gift shop had lots of options for everyone off all ages and interests.
This is one site not to be missed! The tour of the Royal Canadian Mint is just awesome they'll show you how they made colored coins holographic coins and glow-in-the-dark coins!
Very busy place for a Saturday! Staff are very helpful and friendly. Coin sets are remarkable.
Found it very interesting. Enjoyed reading about the way make the different coins.
Not sure why it took me 35 years to go and see money "being" made!!
Loved every minute of the tour!
Great place to visit. Staff are very knowledgeable
Great place to your 4 time never gets old
Good tours every half hours and the hours work well for the average tourist visit. Would recommend.
The tour was very interesting. I learned a lot. The building itself, the interior and the exterior are worth a visit. I bought dune rare coins in the shop.
Very nice ppl . Very helpful
Only mint location in Canada where coins are produced. They also produced coins for 70 other countries.
Great tour! Well worth a visit
What an amazing place! This is a MUST VISIT if you are in Winnipeg. The staff were super awesome and the boutique had a great collection. Our tour guide was Rochelle and she was the best. She was very thorough and informative but also very humorous. We loved all the little side stories she shared with us. Thank you Rochelle for making our visit so memorable and keep up the awesome work!
interesting place to visit. cool how many countries have their money made here
A different experience to buy something for a birthday
Came for Canada 150 - the staff was friendly, organized and efficient. It was a great experience! Looking forward to going back another day. ????
We had a great tour of the Mint with our 55+ club last week. Informative guide was friendly and answered all our questions. Amazing gift shop!
Wonderful staff. Explained me all about Winnipeg mint
???? - Very informative, would recommend the guided tour
Very informative , me sure you make a reservation because they fill up fast and only take a set number of people on each tour.
A great way to explore Canadian money
Amazing place to visit to know how coins are made. Good to know the huge number of coins the facility can produce. Really informative visit.
Great tour and tour guide very informative!
A true Jewel in Winnipeg!!
A short but nice tour of the Mint. Very nice shop if you're interested in coins and medals.
Tours are informative. Excellent place for our visiting friends. The coins are from different price points and genres. Trading days for newly released coins are fun days. Very informed staff.
A very pleasant atmosphere!
Got D-day coins - was very satisfied with the collection - service was very friendly - very nice display of coins !!???? ????????
Informative & great gift shop
Interesting museum and good shop
Tour bus with Bergan Travel
posted on internet Tues. to Sun 9 to 5
Some facilities are out of service. Around 30 mins if you are interested in see the coin making (part of the process and view from a long distance through a limited window). 15 mins if you are not interested and walk through the area. Photo Taking is not allowed inside.
Ive been here a few times. The guided tours are very informative. Some others are complaining that its basically like any other manufacturing plant... Well yea they mass produce currency so that only makes sense. Last time we went was with relatives from Toronto and took the self guided tour, they had a great time.
Really sweet place. Rather nice people
The staff are so friendly.
It was amazing to see how our coins are made and to the different countries who contract with our Mint to do the same for theirs.
Great tour
First time coming to the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg, wanted to visit their boutique shop to buy my wife and newborn some collective coins for Christmas, as the delivery time online was way too long of a wait (3 months plus). Upon my arrival, I walked in the front doors and was asked to produce a COVID vaccination card, that I still have not received from (our very dependable government ????). I had mentioned to the lady at the front that there was no indication of that on their website and no other stores in the city require a vaccination card to enter and shop. I also informed her of the delivery time for ordering online. I knew what I wanted and would have been in and out in less than 5 mins. She then asked which coins I was looking for and showed her what I had in my cart online. Looking as if the trip was a total waste of time, she finally asked me if I wanted her to get the coins and the wireless transaction machine. I said sure, upon her arrival back at the front she brings 2 security guards dressed like they were ready for combat. I was astonished by what just took place, with her bring security when she came back. My stature is less than intimidating and as annoyed as I was with the situation, it was in no way hostile or threatening until she brought security into the equation. This is no way to treat a customer, or make them feel, and the real unfortunate part about this was that it was a first time experience. Everyone knows how the saying goes, “you only get one chance to make a first impression, ” which is why I'm choosing to tell others what they may experience when visiting. Thank you Royal Canadian Mint and your staff for making this first time experience a memorable one, but not in a good way. The intimidation was not welcoming or inviting in any way. This experience has shown me, and hopefully other people that read these reviews, how extremely unprofessional your staff can be.
Did the tour for international visitors. Tour guide was great as she ensured people were quiet so we could all hear her.
If you want to see the mint in production go on a weekday. To save on admission cost it's less on the weekend
Bought few coins from here. Amazing quality done each products and very kind knowledge staffs at the boutique.
Everyone who works there is so friendly and we got to see and touched a large gold bar!!
The tour lasts about an hour and walks you through all processes used at the mint. The guides are knowledgable, explaining everything as you watch the production floor from above. The tour is supplemented with videos showing the various process closer up. Highly recommended!
We visited during the Doors Open Winnipeg weekend. It was actually a pretty interesting tour. It would probably be better to tour when they are actually running during the weekday and their make your own coin machines were broken.
The place is close for a tour but the lady at the reception was gracious enough to share enough info for the history of the mint. Thank you. Also, we bought the new collective insulin collectible coin.
Great tour.
Very interesting topic about how Canadian money is made.
The tour was really interesting and impressive. The facility was well kept and clean. We could watch the workers from parts of the tour which was cool (someone waved at me :D ). The shop was really cool! They had some really cool collectible coins. Not to mention the gold bar they have inside that they let you pick up and hold.
Guided or self-guided tours. A lot of unexpected fascinating information and extraordinary visuals of coins being minted by the thousands for many countries around the world
Always great staff and very knowledgeable!
Short tour, well worth it it.
