Right now this business receives a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 and this rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is nearly the best one, and it's founded on a large number of opinions, so we may conclude that the rating is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to put scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum is classified in the category of Museum.
There is so much different than summer time, it’s one of the best places to enjoy the sunset in the PEI
It was wow... actually we had an air bnb for the night, but as the motel was so well located we changed our mind to stay here. The lady at front desk is too friendly and the general manager is too helpful. Our best stay on our trip. Try second floor rooms facing the beach
The beach and view is amazing. If I knew there was a hotel here we would definitely have stayed here.
Really enjoyed the museum and climbing to the top to see the views. Highest lighthouse in PEI. Had we known there was an inn attached, we would have spent a night here.
Cool spot
I was here visiting the lighthouse, which is also a hotel. I am reviewing only the lighhouse as a tourist destination. The lighthouse is distinct and the area is tranquil compared to the North point light. Very near to the lighthouse we ran into a fox. She was adorable and let our car be about 4 feet from her, I posted her photo in this bunch. I was told that these boxes are not afraid of people, back home this behavior is bad sign (rabid) but not here.
A great place to stay on PEI. Some maintenance has started to slip but overall very awesome!
We loved the stay
Very quaint setting with two rooms right inside the lighthouse! The museum is very interesting as well. Probably one of the nicest beaches on p.e.i.
This spot is beautiful and great for all ages. Gorgeous sunsets, wildlife, beach, park...everything you need for a get away
Great experience and caretaker was awesome!
Great swimming. Lovely provincial Park. Gorgeous lighthouse
Nice Beach
Great view at the top of the lighthouse. The lady working there was very friendly and very helpful
Just stayed here this weekend, the room was clean and beautiful. Very comfortable beds and beautiful view of the ocean out our window. The staff went the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Lived our stay here.
Functioning lighthouse with 2 period rooms to stay right inside if you want plus a 5 storey museum, seafood restaurant, motel and gift shop... All with gorgeous views of the sunsets on the Northumber Strait. Don't miss this gem in Prince County, PEI.
Great location and a really well-maintained location. Packed with cool.information, it's a really good time.
Kim was amazing and so helpful from the initial “Bonjour” greeting to sharing her vast knowledge about the West Point Lighthouse (and others), she held us “captive” with her personality and is so good at doing what she does! Thanks, Kim for making our day and our experience at West Point Lighthouse so wonderful! Janet (and her dad) from Tennessee, USA
Definitely come visit West Point Light House. Very beautiful light house and my inner kid loved the old fire truck was a bonus I didnt expect. If you have the kids you will find a park on site as well with some benches so pack a lunch and relax well taking in the ocean view and unwind. I also found so many shells in great shape for the shell collector's out there.
A wonderful hotel. The hotel staff were magnificent and very helpful. The rooms are the size of small condos despite looking like a small lighthouse, they are very nicely furnished and the beds are comfortable. The hotel as plenty of things to do and the staff are knowledgeable about tourist attractions in the area and throughout the island. As for the beach, well it was beautiful. There was a boardwalk with benches in which I would sit and watch the sunset every night. The water is magnificent-crystal clear and it looks like the ocean is never ending. If your thinking of staying here DO IT. It was an overall amazing experience.
We had a Great stay here. The Staff are super friendly, they went above and beyond for us, without knowing it was our honeymoon. Fireside stories with the lighthouse facilitator and view at sunset is a must see even if just in the area.
I stayed one night in the extension of the lighthouse. There are two floors. We were not able to book the second floor. Our unit was quaint , very clean. You are right by the Northumberland strait. The water is literally at your door step. The staff is super nice. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast that was included was fine. The usual continental breakfast. I would stay there again but book a room on the second floor where the view must have been amazing. Each unit had a balcony facing the ocean. First floor unit had a small deck with a table and two chairs. There is a restaurant 5 minutes away called The Catch. The restaurant was very good. If you can get a table on the upstairs terrace you have a beautiful view of the harbor. Would recommend Inn and at The Catch restaurant.
Beautiful place. Would love to stay longer.
Directional signage is lacking and one could easily miss the turn-off
Its a cosy spot in PEI, you can review history of light house in one visit.
Such a beautiful location with friendly and helpful staff.
A beautiful place to have a coastal picnic lunch!
A wonderful stay at West Point a few weeks ago. We stayed in the tower room which was lovely and comfortable! So exciting to sleep in the actual lighthouse itself! We will definitely be back! Thankyou to Jimmy and his team. So welcoming and friendly ????????
Beautiful lighthouse with a wonderful view of the ocean. The history was also quite interesting. Definitely worth a visit.
We were able to climb to the top of a working light house and see the view from the room with the spinning light. It was very impressive but the room is hot. The stairs are very steep. Highly recommended though. The beach there is rocky and there is poison ivy in the off trail wilderness.
Great site to visit.
Very picturesque location with a beautiful beach and one of the most spectacular sunsets I've seen on the island or possibly anywhere!
We didn't go I to the museum, just along the beach. It was neat to see a part of history but there honestly isn't really much to see unless you go in.
Neat place to stay, friendly staff. You can go for long walks on the beach.
A great place to learn about the history of lighthouses on PEI. Additionally, you will learn about the history of West Point and some of the ship wrecks that have occurred. The lighthouse does feature some steep climbs to get to the top. You make the climb your own risk. However, the climb is worth it as it provides nice views of the surrounding beach.
Wonderful. This is the one to tour inside. Has an extensive and informative museum and steps take you to the top of the lighthouse for a beautiful view.
Another island gem....one of many
Fascinating tour of the lighthouse.
Awesome experience staying in the inn keeper’s room. Very comfortable. I think the other non light house rooms were renovated (not sure, because I didn’t see them). But I liked the feeling of staying in the tower itself, just below the operating light! Very unique experience. And the staff is so friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
Nice little museum !
The surrounding area is beautiful. We did not enter the lighthouse or museum but did a lot of beach combing
Most beautiful and loveliest place of our 3 weeks tour in eastern canada. We really enjoyed our stay here in the tower room. This ancient room is very nice, clean and spacious as well as the modern bathroom. The museum is also worth a visit. Thank you once again for our new fridge magnet of your lovely lighthouse ;-) We will return one day for sure!
this was a really cool experience to stop and see this authentic historic Lighthouse and to be able to climb the original stairs all the way to the top just like the Light Keeper did so many years ago. The museum is full of lots of official artifacts, including original lenses and light components. This is an actual working Lighthouse still with an official light. The Innkeeper and Museum host was very polite, welcoming, and accommodating. Take the time to walk along the beach and enjoy the breeze. The boardwalk was very nice as well. Parking was very adequate with lots of space.
The lighthouse had a fantastic view! Everything looked great
It was an amazing location, great scenic view of the ocean. The Tower Room was comfortable and had viewsof the ocean from windows on 3 sides. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Such a unique and amazing place to stay. We immediately fell in love with the ocean beach view from the balcony of our room. Fell asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. Extremely clean and tidy hotel with very friendly staff who were always willing to help or just chat. Very complete continental breakfast with healthy food and even gluten free accommodation. Restaurant close by with fantastic food, laundry facilities for public use, and a beach with lifeguard supervision. The light house museum was very interesting to learn about and free for hotel guests. Would stay here again!
Great place to visit, great history
The moment we stepped in, we could feel the warmth of the staffs that greeted us there together with 2 dogs. Manager Scott was super lovely and so was Kiara and Benjamin. Beds was super comfy and linen smelt good. Breakfast was yum!!! Scott baked homemade muffins which was delicious! He even gave us some for the road. We only stayed 1 night because we were stopping over but I will be back for sure. Too too lovely - PERFECT. Thank you West Point Lighthouse!
The light keeper is amazing person.
Had fun creating a small rock castle. Pretty place with wind and view.
Absolutely beautiful place. Must visit if in PEI
Very nice spot to visit and go into the lighthouse. Right to the very top. If your not afraid of heights
Nice spot great beaches and light house!
Great service and amazing veiws of the outside area
Great place to see
The lighthouse is really amazing and beautiful but we just walked around it because I think it was reserved for a married couple. The view is impeccably amazing. It was a little windy but not too chilly. Really great beach to takes pictures and pick up some sea shells ????
My favorite lighthouse on PEI. So beautiful and we'll kept. We may be tempted to stay at the Inn next time we come. Beach was so nice and great access.
Very cool light house, a defiant visit when your in PEI.
Great place to visit. You can visit the lighthouse !!!
Lovely lighthouse. Nice vista up top and you can actually see New Brunswick!
The tallest lighthouse on PEI. It's now an inn, seems like a cool idea to turn a lighthouse into an inn.
We had a lovely stay here. Our room had it's own little patio, and we could walk to the ocean if we wished. Visiting the lighthouse itself was also fun! You can stay inside the lighthouse, but book in advance.
We just check the view and walk on the beach
The museum was very interesting and a great price too
Very rustic feel, nice staff, good beach
Amazingly beautiful Lighthouse! The museum is a must see and well worth the price of admission (we paid 12 dollars for the family admission)
Absolutely wonderful.
Designated heritage place.... You can actually go to the top of the lighthouse for a fee, it's part of a museum. It's nice to check out the layout and the aerial view ... There's a beach next to it... Clean water! Little rocks are amazing!
Gorgeous red sand beach
Only stepped in for a brief moment to use the washroom but the staff was friendly and even cleaning the living area when we went in. Seemed very well kept.
Beautiful spot the relax. Cool water and a rough beach but you will still have a good visit.
One of the unique ones, we paid to go up the lighthouse, it was a fun experience. Steep stairs, if you have weak knees, avoid it
one of the most beautiful lighthouses - highly recommended
Absolutely the best place I have ever stayed by far. The ocean view room was spectacular!! Very clean and comfortable. A beautiful little gem hidden away. Many thanks to the friendly staff with a special shout out to Scott.
Beautiful view really reccommend
What a great historical spot!!! Go if you can!
Great view. Interesting history.
Bit pricey, self guided tour, but you are able to climb to the top
We had a wonderful stay in the Tower Room of the West Point Lighthouse. We enjoyed Jimmy's stories around the evening bonfire. We also got to experience 'Willy's' playful spirit.
This place was very informative! It was so interesting to learn about the life of a lighthouse keeper. Climbing up into the lighthouse was awkward, as expected, and it gave us a little taste of what that must have been like. You can even stay in a room in the lighthouse tower itself. Lots of machinery on display; great explanations to go along.
Really nice place and super friendly staff
Loved the place, the view and people were amazing
Above and beyond what I expected. We played a tour around the island a decided it would be cool to stay in a lighthouse Inn. The website does not do it justice. The room and building were super clean and nicely decorated. The view from the balcony of the water and beach was awesome. The sun sets on the water providing beautiful, colourful pictures. The lighthouse is full of history and artifacts, and is accessible to climb to the top and lookout at the area at light level. Hands down my favourite place on the island to sleep. With the windows open the cool breeze off the water, and the sound of the waves on the beach was so relaxing it was hard to get out of bed. All the staff were so friendly it was like we knew them for years. They provided recommendations and information on the area that really helped us plan activities and locations to visit. My only regret is that I did not book more nights. Would definitely go back.
What a great place to visit. Well maintained great staff.. lots of stories and historical knowledge a must if your visiting up west.
Beautiful area, some hiking trails and wildlife. Great beach and boardwalk
Beautiful beach and a lighthouse museum and also there's an inn in the light house very nice!
Nice stop
Always loved visiting here. Lots of history and beautiful views.
Great place to stop and look through museum and lighthouse. Very nice beach, very scenic.
Stayed here on a whim during a circle tour of the island. By far the best hotel we stayed at and one of the nicest lighthouses! In hindsight we wish we had stayed here longer as it is the place that stands out from the entire trip! A must go to whether for accommodations, beach combing or for the light house tour!
We stayed in the Tower Room...highly recommend! Bed and linens were so comfy and room was incredibly clean & decorated with antique furniture. The clawfoot tub was lovely too. We enjoyed hearing the waves crash at night and the hum of the light up top the lighthouse. Not to mention the hospitality...great recommendations & even accommodated a gluten-free breakfast. We can't wait to come back and will make sure to head to the campfire for ghost stories!
Very peaceful. Our room opened up on the beach and we fell asleep listening to the ocean.
Didn't stay at the inn, but the lighthouse has a gorgeous view of the beach and surrounding area. Stairs are very steep towards the top of the lighthouse, so it might not be for everyone. Closest public washrooms for the beach are a bit far down the road at the camp site, so plan ahead!
Didn't stay the night since it was booked solid already ???? but the beach was nice and the views were great.
Great place to visit with family. Excellent to for photos but a bit off the beaten path.
Saw a fox! Super nice staff at the lighthouse. Lovely beach for a stroll.
Definitely worth the entrance fee. Being able to climb this lighthouse was an amazing experience.
A beautiful lighthouse that you can explore, all 5 stories of it !! Sandy beaches and attached rooms for rent
It was fun I guess but I heard knocking at my door and finger nails going around the room???? DEFINITELY GOST SIGHTINGS HERE BUT IT WAS AWESOME ????
Awesome place to visit! Don't miss out. Fabulous beach!
We are from Ontario and we arrived slightly after closing time and the gentleman working was kind enough to let us go up the lighthouse. We had our 2 year old son with us who was very excited about seeing a lighthouse. He couldn't make it all the way due to the incline of the ladders but was still given a certificate of completion and was beyond happy. Amazing customer service and awesome experience.
Loved going into the lighthouse to learn the history of it. Beautiful black and white lighthouse against a beautiful backdrop of the red beach.
Loved the sand dunes . First working light house I've been in loved it
We found this lighthouse after visiting the wind farm nearby. It's a nice spot. Very quiet and secluded.
Very cool area, who wouldn't want to stay in a lighthouse?
Beautiful beach and lighthouse
Stairs aren't for the faint of heart!
An absolutely fantastic B&B inn and museum. You can visit the light house and go all the way up and inside to learn about the working, history and significance of light houses in the region. They also have lots of cool stories and legends to share with visitors. Plan 1½ to 2 hours for a visit or include an overnight stay and explore the beach around the point as well. We stayed one night in one of the rooms there. They were clean, comfortable and were literally 10 metres from the ocean. Our room has a quaint Deck that over looked the beach and out over the SW exposure of PEI across the Northumberland Strait towards NB. Due to our travel itinerary, we ended up arriving very late in the evenings at 10pm but our host Jimmy greeted us warmly, made sure we had food and beverages and made sure we were comfortable and all set up. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Cool experience. Walking up through history. Small charge to get access to the lighthouse right up to the top.
The coolest place i've ever seen! Say hi to Willie when you're there.
Nice beach to walk on.
Awsome place to stay, friendly stuff. The view from the room is stunning.
A wonderful experience
Great Beach, some strong waves in the shallow waters. Kids loved it.
I went therefor the sunset. One of the best idea i had. This place was sooo nice.
A great place to watch the sunset. There's also the opportunity to get out onto the parapet around the lighthouse beam right at the top. Rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable. A unique place to spend a night. Sadly the guest rooms …
Very nice but bring a bag lunch. Very limited to no food options
Really enjoyed our time here
It was nice to see the lighthouse. $5/person for a tourist attraction is a reasonable price. Nice view and staff was friendly.
Great view from the top
Beautiful location. Scott is a gem! Will definitely be back!
Beautiful spot! Views from top of lighthouse were amazing! Awesome rooms to rent of the ocean side
Great place to see some history and spend the night and see the while thing
Loved the museum and the view at the top!
Absolutely loved our stay. The beach location, with water views from our private balcony was wonderful. Access to the light house museum is free, you can climb right to the top (my husband went several times and once at night great views) beachcombing for sea glass was fun with succes. Breakfast the next morning had the regular fare but also fresh blueberries & strawberries. Rooms were very clean.
Beautiful place
Stayed two nights, beautiful rooms.Kim the manager is such a sweetheart and staff are so friendly. Nice continental breakfast in the morning. Who doesn't want to say,hey I stayed at a lighthouse in P.E.I. Beautiful view of the ocean from the rooms!!!
Interesting, very steep steps
Clean rooms and helpful staff.
Such a cool experience! The beach was amazing, sunset was beautiful and the staff were amazing! They provided a bonfire, ghost stories and good company. Definitely so far our favourite spot on our honeymoon!
Did you know Parliament appropriated $5,000 for a lighthouse on West Point during its 1874 session and added an additional $2,500 to this amount the following year. A $4,559.59 contract to construct the lighthouse, the first to be built on Prince Edward Island since it entered Confederation in 1873, was entered into with Messrs. Mugridge & Co., of Shediac, New Brunswick, and work on the structure started in 1875. West Point Lighthouse commenced operation on May 21, 1876, exhibiting a powerful revolving light at an elevation of 20.1 metres (66 feet) above high water. The lighting apparatus, comprising eight lamps and powerful reflectors, made a revolution every three minutes producing one red flash followed by three white flashes every ninety seconds. When built, the West Point Lighthouse consisted of a square, pyramidal tower attached to a one-and-a-half-storey dwelling with a gable roof. The first two floors of the tower served as an extension of the keeper’s dwelling. The tower’s bottom floor was used as a parlor, and the second floor was divided into two bedrooms.
Would you imagine that they have 15 rooms to rent for guests in the light house?
Great beach. You can walk for miles. Plenty of parking and a clean portable washroom
Great place to visit and see the history of light houses
Great location, close to the beach and a camp ground. We didn't stay at the Inn so I can't speak to that. But we did go through the museum and do some geocaching. Museum was interesting and being able to go up into the light house was cool.
Personnaly, the west point lighthouse was not as nice looking as many other lighthouses on PEI, such as the east point lighthouse. Also, no public washroom is available. The beach next to the lighthouse is filled with rocks so not good for walking.
Beautiful location but stark. No near by restaurants or services.
This use to have restaurant and gift shop. I believe it is now in a separate building. We came late in the season so only the museum lighthouse tour was open. Still very interesting.
Only the lighthouse room is historic. There is also an uncomfortable room in the reconstructed lighthouse keepers house. Otherwise all other rooms are essentially a modern “motel” wing. The later are comfortable, and include a nice balcony. Recommend the upper floor for the best views. Breakfast (included) was pretty good.
This light house is a museum as well. It takes you thru the life of the two keepers it had during its operation. It is still an acting light house so there is a warning that you could hear the horn should it go on alert. It is well worth the trip.
Beautiful places
A hidden gem on the Island. We have been staying there for 20 years.
very comfortable and welcoming!
Interesting museum of you take the time to read. I enjoyed it and learned quite a bit. Gorgeous views from the top tower. Jimmy, the manager, was very welcoming, personable and helpful. A woman was disappointed to learn there was not a teahouse at the lighthouse and Jimmy very graciously made her and her companion tea.
It is far too much money for what you see
Very nice lighthouse a must see no gift shop
Very nice place to stay. Beautiful views of ocean, fishing boats at sea and sunset. The light house museum is very interesting!
was dissapointed, it was suppose to be opened but was closed for the season, we could only look from the outside but the outside is beautiful and well maintained.
Not free to enter the museum, $12 per family. Make sure you are able to climb stairs as there as lots! It's 169/ night with breakfast for the room but it's pretty cozy and you are right by the water. The inside of the lighthouse is well kept and clean.
If you love peace and quiet, this is the place to stay. Staff very friendly. Clean rooms, and breathtaking views.
It's beautiful lighthouse especially the history behind but I wouldn't pay that much for a room to stay there smell like musty.. Old
Beautiful lighthouse situated in the lovely Cedar Dunes Provincial Park along the North Cape Coastal Drive on Prince Edward Island. Easily the most recognizable lighthouse on the entire island. There is an attached inn at the lighthouse as well as the opportunity to climb to the top of the lighthouse for some magnificent views of the pristine beach below. Nearby Cedar Dunes park allows for RV and tent camping with hookups. I've also heard that the lighthouse is haunted!
Beautiful. Breathtaking. Rememberable.
Climb to the top of the lighthouse for a great view. You can also rent out rooms to stay! Pretty cool.
Nice!
Lobster roll was excellent. Not enough fish in the fish tacos.
Such a special experience while on PEI! We got to stay in the keepers room, watch an indescribable sunset, chat by the fire and fly a kite all in just a short stay at the West Point Lighthouse. Definitely would recommend a stay or at least a visit to the beautiful spot.
Beautiful museum. The tallest lighthouse on the island.
Great self tour and views from the top.
loved the staff very interesting, knowledgeable about the whole building and its history. loved her and the tour of light house
Choose the tower room if you get the chance. We did and didn’t regret it. Staff was fantastic, breakfast offered many options, but most of all... Awesome sunsets!!!
The inn is a wonderful place to spend the night, and is kept very clean. There are two hotel rooms in the lighthouse itself, and an additional 11 in an extension piece that stretches along the beach. Beautiful place to watch the sun set, and very friendly staff! There is Also a museum, and with a small fee (have you ever heard of a free museum? I haven't) you can enter it, and climb all the way to the top of the lighthouse! Overall, a great experience, and will definitely be back! Lots of history here.
Beautiful historic location. Kim provided warm and friendly service, which we appreciated very much. The rooms are new and top notch. Although they are pricey the venue makes it a worthwhile treat for a romantic evening with someone special. My wife and I loved it.
Not worth
Unique shape lighthouse with a small museum. Lots of historic pictures and information. Staff is very friendly. Got a lighthouse certificate and passport here for free. My 13 yrs old daughter loved it. Scenic view with Sandy beach. We enjoyed our visit here.
It was clean and affordable
A quiet and nice shore with beach. A unique color of the combined black and white of the lighthouse.
My Mom and I stayed at the West Point Lighthouse this past summer and it was an absolutely incredible experience! The staff were very friendly and Scott (the manager) went above and beyond. The rooms were beautiful, we could hear the waves at night and had our own little patio with a table and chairs. Everything was very clean. A night's stay also included a free pass of the Lighthouse museum. Bonus! Breakfast included fresh berries and a whole assortment of delectable, nourishing food. My Mom and I had a wonderful time and I look forward to staying there again when I return to the island.
Best camping, beach, lighthouse ever
Very nice beach.
