DESCRIPTION

You will be able to see the reviews of real people like you who use the services and products of Beaconsfield Historic House (Museum) around Prince Edward Island area (Canada).

At the present the firm receives a rating of 4.4 out of 5 and that score has been calculated on 127 reviews.

You must have seen that the average score it has is really good, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can be quite sure that the evaluation is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they are satisfied, it works.

You know that we do not usually bother to set scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

Our guide, Luke, was fantastic!! Very knowledgeable and friendly. I like history, anyways, but he brought the story to life with interesting tidbits. Fascinating details about the architecture and furnishings. A great way to learn about the Victorian era in PEI and a perfect way to spend a chilly springtime afternoon.

Cool to look at but was disappointed that we only got to see some of the house, there were 3 floors and a basement but only 2 were open to see and not all rooms were open for viewing.

It's great if you like the historical stuff ~ otherwise, it's a bit creepy.

(Translated) The Beaconsfield Historic House was built in 1877 for a wealthy shipbuilder and trader named Peake. The house is in very good condition and shows life at this time. Entry is relatively cheap at 5 CAD. However, you can get through the house pretty quickly. It's a fine example of contemporary Victorian history. Beautiful morning to spend at this 1877 Mansion built by James Peake, a shipbuilder. Unfortunately he missed the 'boat' and didn't recognize the end of wooden ships. Within 5 years, he ended up bankrupt, penniless and moved away to end up being a bartender. His wife and children stayed here and with help from her father tried to rebuild their live, she being a maid instead of being the mansion owner. All her children would die young almost as if money cursed them. We seen so much of that in our travels. Kindly click the like button if this review or my photos are useful.

Went there for a live performance of Frozen. A very historic building that has been beautifully restored with a small stage and seating for 100. Right in downtown Charlottetown.

Chris Ward

Will take tour next time we are in Charlottetown, BUT very big props to the staff. Last Tuesday, our son had to use their washroom just as they were closing for the day. They let us in & he took his eyeglasses off in the stall & left them in there. None of us noticed this. We left PEI without knowing where they had disappeared to. When we were 1 hour from home in the Toronto area we finally retraced our steps correctly and realized that they were likely there & maybe staff collected them & kept them safe until somebody claimed them. We spoke to them the next morning & today they arrived. If you are heading to Charlottetown soon, please take a tour of this beautiful house for us. Fantastic people working there!

Cecil Murl

Love the carriage house beautiful place for the blue grass concerts

JP

A lovely historic Victorian era home on the waterfront. Tours/entry is only 5$CAD per person, so why not take the tour? I did feel, however, that our tour guide could’ve used a bit of improvement- she seemed a bit nervous, and not very talkative. Otherwise, it is well worth a visit. The grounds themselves are well-maintained, and connect with a waterfront walking trail.
