Not as inclusive as they imply. their community events are really only targeted at a specific audiance. Also their interpretation of "contemporary" is questionable.

Melissa Smits

Would be nice for the gallery to reach out to the community and involve more local artists in a variety of mediums.

If you are a resident of Oshawa or just visiting, you must visit the gallery! Very refreshing approach to the arts. Always changing and evolving. Features many nights with live music and interactive events, children's programs, Indigenous art, community funded. Wonder filled!

The RMG is a jewel nestled in downtown Oshawa. It is everything a gallery should be: exciting, interesting, relevant and one of the most friendly public places you will ever visit. From “Painters Eleven” (one of Canada’s first great abstract art movements) to contemporary street art, the RMG has covered the waterfront. A great art gallery that leaves you thinking “Why didn’t I come here sooner. “

Anne Sewell

Had a nice visit. First get together since before Covid. Good abstract display. All staff friendly & welcoming & extremely good in their interpretations

Been here a few times and have loved it. My favorite event was their monthly nighttime event and got to see one of my favorite local bands play "Wooly". Definitely check it out if you're in the Oshawa area and looking for something to do.

Nice little art gallery that showcases local Canadian artists, both old and new. Also a fan of the abundance of Indigenous artwork! It is also built-into/right beside a library. There’s a cute little gift shop and a summer camp you can register your kids to.

Healthy Artisan Hub, Clean, Respected, Opportunities for all ages, informative, secure, group opportunity, OAC Grant affiliate, group affiliation, corporate, established for years, job position or volunteer possibilities, is essentially the Oshawa Gallery to get into, open to public, has all amenities including wheelchair access and elevators, and offers genuine credit with award recognition that matters to personal artists, for future personal positions in all types of artistic venture. It is a large gallery with deep history. Has honored all types of artists both local and international, historic or new. This is a multicultural and cultured place of high standards. Hard workers paid, and volunteer to maintain with integrity, politeness, enduring years of a rising and falling economy, yet The Robert McLaughlin Gallery stays. -This, is a reflection of a continuous, creative City, that still keeps Art, gives Art, as this gallery continues to entertain us with causes that edify our very society, I hope it thrives, and people participate, even just to look!

Megan Cochrane

Interesting free (donation suggested) gallery with a wonderful permanent collection and changing exhibits. I really appreciated that the interactive display in the Made of Honey, Gold, and Marigold exhibit was still interactive despite COVID-19. They had a box of disposable gloves and hand sanitizer available.

My kids of 3.5 years old didn't understand why they need to be quite, so we didn't stay long. It would be good to have similar gallery in Pickering, so we can go more often and kids can learn about REAL ART - CREATED NOT TO BE SOLD BUT BECAUSE OF ART.....

Stan V

This is a small gallery, however they hold some very interesting (and free) events. Would recommend to check out if you are even slightly artistically inclined.

They should be ashamed of themselves. I read in the paper they kicked a disabled man and his family off the property and won’t let him return because he was medicating outside with legal medical marijuana. Better get with the times Art Gallery. I am also a medical marijuana user and do not appreciate being harassed for trying to manage my pain.

RMG , has a focused collection of Canadian art featuring Painters Eleven, Group of Seven and leading contemporary Canadian artists. The RMG also regularly features exhibitions so check their website. The museum doesn't charge an admittance at the time of this writing. It’s pay as you go’ so help keep the lights on and drop $5 - $10 into the box.

I saw everything in three minutes...and this included a 30 second dance video. Lol. But the gallery was under construction so that was expected. I was happy to be facilitated. It's a good activity to pack into a day...as it's not too time consuming. Try visiting with friends to make it exciting and have fun discussions. The staff are really nice and sweet. I got a warm welcome from security and an even warmer welcome from the desk attendant.

I'm still shocked of the amount of fun I had at this place. The place is very clean and well organized. Many cool lightening and artistic views as well as rooms for the young ones to paint or have fun with whatever creative games and tools they offer. They even have a lounge room for those who just want to rest while others take their fancy pictures and explore the place. The building design is beautiful and the workers are very nice which is a bonus. The whole place is camera friendly just some rooms require you not to use flash so that you wouldn't disturb anyone else. The best part about the place is it's for free and they even offer services like coat check for free too.

A beautiful building with a lot of potential, however, unfortunately most of the gallery rooms are quite empty with absolutely no seating. Pictures and other art is sloppily pinned to the wall without any frame. Very poor attention to detail with some absolutely awful works. Although art is subjective, I believe there is no reason to hang a pieces of yarn all over one of the gallery halls. That was truly a boring exhibit. Some of the works are great, but the place needs a lot more work with more more seating. It would not hurt to add a little detail to the walls instead of boring white ones... Also, the pictures pinned on the wall is nothing but sloppy showmanship. For an artist looking for inspiration, it could be a good place. Would not recommend to the average goer.

Annie

I really enjoyed that they have indigenous art. They also have local art from the Durham area and some awesome local art downstairs.
