Tips for the haunted tour: Go when it's not too dark so you can see the houses. I did the 9:30pm slot and it was too dark to see the pictures or houses.

Awesome place. There are tons of unique events going on here that don't even compare to the other local museums I have been to. The Minecraft event was particularly fun for me and the kids.

The Anne Experience was nothing short of absolutely charming! The food was great, the tour was fascinating, and the site was beautiful! Thank you, Pickering Museum Village, for a wonderful day!

Step back in time and find what it would be like in the 1800s. It's like a Brigadoon tucked away in the Duffins Creek Valley.

Buildings over 150 years old with the staff dressed in traditional clothing from that era. It definitely feels like you stepped into a time machine! Great hiking trails as well!

The drive-thru ghost tour was highly entertaining! Went in with unsure expectations, but it was so much better than I thought it would be. And for $20/car, you can't really go wrong.

It was a very interesting day, it was very interactive and the kids also enjoyed themselves immensely. I would totally recommend this for a fun family trip or an educational adventure with your Cub troops or Brownies alike !!

We visited for their minecraft event. It was very well run and thought out. My son had so much fun that he asks about going back to do it again even after several months have elapsed. I loved checking out the different buildings and trying the different things that there used as entrainment in the past.

It is a great gem of a place to spend an afternoon there. The staff and volunteers do a great job and if you have kids in your group there are a lot of fun things to keep them engaged while learning about how early settlers lived and their lifestyle. They have a busy calendar with tons of different activities. When we visited they had a solve the mystery activity for kids with a prize if they got it right. On the 17th of June we were there with kids and were asked to go indoors because of lightening. We were in for a while and were particularly impressed with a staff member Eamon (he is dressed as one of the characters). Eamon did his best keeping the kids engaged while we were indoors waiting for the all clear. Eamon brought out toys for the kids to play with. He came up with riddles for the kids to solve. He kept the kids engaged and we are grateful as the kids had started getting restless. Great job Eamon! The entire staff at the Museum is great, friendly and welcoming. Always a good time there.

DId the Christmas drive-thru. It was entertaining learning about different old customs and seeing the actors doing their thing. I loved how well timed everything was, and Santa's outfit was beautiful!

Michael MacDonald

Great selection of exhibits which show the progression of the early settlers in the area.

H Siu

Refreshingly authentic place to be.

Brenda B.

Did the ghost tour! Pretty cool very interesting. Will definitely be going back!

Michael Ryan

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, that really give you a glimpse of how the land was settled and the lives that pioneers led. I have been to other pioneer villages that were larger but this was the most informative. We tried ice cream made as the pioneer would have and made rope and wood nails. Definitely something interesting to do with your family.

Brigitte Foulds

Took advantage of an evening activity making ice cream. Great direction, friendly staff and overall fun.

Nishant Kakkar

Fairy Tour offered at the Pickering Museum Village was amazing so much detail to each fairy house displayed. The volunteers are so helpful and very informative. The tours are guided with an audio recording you can play at your own pace as there is so much to take in ... they even incorporated a Scavenger Hunt finding 12 stamps and fill up your passport card wins you a prize at the end! The Pickering Museum Village offers many different events .. worth checking out!

Another one of those "hidden gems" in Ontario. Awesome setup, great staff and lots do here year round. An looking forward to returning here in the near future.

Angelo Theodotos

Not exactly what I expected, the whole thing took 30 minutes and it's just a brief history of haunted phenomena in the village.

Darius Patel

The family had been members for a couple of years and visited for a couple of years before that. We all love the Pickering Museum especially the staff. The are so welcoming and knowledgeable. Some of the staff are moving on and my kids are so sad. Christmas in the village is a yearly staple and the Santa is a favorite to visit.

Red Carpet Productions

We are pioneer village fanatics and think Pickering village is one of the best villages for a small town museum in Ontario. Very interactive and friendly staff and volunteers..... A must visit especially their special events. Kids will love it...

Osama Wahib

Kathie Fitzsimmons

Great place to see

Lenard Dingemans

Worst haunted tour experience ever. Both my girlfriend and I paid $25 each for the Ghost tour. The tour guide barely knew any names of anyone who lived in the houses. Most of the stories were about people who worked there. The most exciting part of the tour was when one of the other guests jumped. We also got a reply from the museum by email that it was because it was the first night of the tours. If it was first night than it shouldn't have costed so much. Maybe like a month after the price could have gone up to $25 a person but not at the start. Definitely will not recommend to anyone and will advise to stay away from the tours.

Ivan M

Fun and educational for both kids and adults. Expect to spend about 4-5 hrs for the full tour.

Beautiful outdoor wedding venue! The "village" itself is set in a lush natural space with a variety of wildflowers and trees as well as a river. It was wonderful in fall colours too

Very quick. Only 1hr really needed. It would be better if you are doing self guided tour tehy give you access to all the buildings.

Justice Otto

Little piece of history in my home town. Love it

Barira Tahir

The tour guide was very engaging and showed the group how early settlements in the area of Pickering were made and their progress through the years. He engaged kids different group activities and demonstrated the development of communities.

Great staff! Beautiful place.

This is an amazing place to take kids. I went with my family for the haunted tour which starts late in the evening after it gets dark. Honestly we weren't expecting much, but what a surprise. It turned out better than what we expected and ended up having a wonderful experience. The haunted stories and sites are scary...would definitely visit again , once they allow folks to walk across these sites and not a drive through experience.????

Went on the haunted drive-thru tour with my sister and loved it! It was great to hear about the history along with the spooky encounters the guests and staff have experienced. The tour itself was very well run/organized and the welcome/exit staff were very kind. The staff members (or actors) who participate in the tour did an awesome job of creating a creepy atmosphere. Shoutout to the cloaked person at the Miller-Cole house who pointed directly at us - you got my sister good! Highly recommend as something fun and interesting to do one evening Goodluck getting that milking cow!

Kirk Apel

Rude staff, heavy on sarcasm, light on educational benefit for children attending. Markham Museum has polite staff and informative programs for kids. Black Creek Pioneer Village, another great alternative to Pickering. I gave Pickering a one star as there was no option for zero.

I was looking for a cheap deal on groupon for a lazy weekend. This place is okay The kids liked it cuz they got to see a lot of new stuff.

Andy Komitas

Go info of history, but could of made it more haunted!!!!! Kept waiting for the unexpected, but got nothing! If you plan to make it haunted, then it needs a lot more props or people to scare us....my son who is 11 yrs old waant even haunted.

Rinkz Singh

Went on the haunted drive thru tonight with the family and it was awesome! Learned a lot of history and heard of the many supernatural encounters experienced by staff there. Very organized and soooo affordable...$20 per vehicle!

Good Experience For the Kids

Samuel Munger

I've been visiting the Pickering Museum Village for nigh on a quarter century now, and can honestly say it is definitely the place to go if one needs some schooling in the lessons of the pioneers, the place to go if one wants to enjoy the fresh air along with some fresh baked scones, and definitely the place to go if one wants the feeling of actually living in a time period before cell phones, internet, fast cars, and the daily stresses we feel in the 21st century. Staff are wonderful, polite, and fun to talk to... Great place for weddings, photo shoots and birthday parties. My choice for a museum in Southern Ontario.

Samara McAdam

Very quaint historical town of Pickering. Was sorry I missed the Christmas festivities. Perhaps next year!

Diane Pedersen

I really enjoyed the play, lots of history and brought tears to my eyes. Thank you

We were really looking forward to this experience as a family. Unfortunately the whole thing just fell short. It has such potential to be amazing. The grounds are beautiful and the history can be felt. However, it was a very short tour. The walk through the village with your own audio tape is not the best guide. Not every building can be accessed (the church was one of these). Most buildings even had the curtains closed so you couldn’t take a peek. My 10 & 11 y/o girls were disappointed that they couldn’t see much. Lunch was what as explained. Only the bread was terribly cut, end pieces and hardly much topping. The paper cups were for about 2 oz of liquid (shot glass size) and when I asked for a napkin for my child to wipe the food from her hands, the lady when she finally made herself present pumped the paper from a dispenser like you find in a public bathroom. After lunch was tea. That was about the best part of the experience. Little history on Tea and making our own butter. Then we were done. On our way out I inquired about the gift shop that I was informed when booking tickets would be open. It was not. The lady at the desk had some loot bags. THIS is the gift shop right now, she informed me. We are big fans of Anne of Green Gables. I was so excited to take my girls. This is a very overpriced experience for some sandwiches, tea and walk around a couple old homes. Children should not be charged the same as an adult to start. And the whole thing is very misleading. I could have taken my children to the Toronto zoo for the entire day for cheaper and they would have gotten so much more. This was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. Unfortunately I would say don't waste your money. The effort in presentation is just not there.

Joanne Linthwaite

Fairy experience was great.

Excellent place for family fun. Did the Christmas village in car this year, it was ok I guess
