REVIEWS OF Oshawa Zoo & Fun Farm IN Oshawa

Nicky Jensen

We had fun at the zoo! It is a good size for little kids without being too much walking. The animals are close up and engaging (especially if you have popcorn). Great snack bar, lots of trash bins and even cleaner available to wipe down picnic tables made this a clean, safe, experience.

Camille Gimeno

My kid had so much fun in here! Will try the pony ride next time!

Alan Fitzgerald

Great morning had at Oshawa zoo. It was Our 18 months old first time interacting with animals in that manner and he quickly got very comfortable feeding them and very excited to give them popcorn! Quickly upgraded our day pass to a season pass and will definitely be back more regularly to see the happy animals.

Pamela Rawlingson

The grand kids love going to see the animals and feed them. It's not a big zoo so its not so tiring for the little ones.

Nick Schroeder

This farm is GREAT for young kids and toddlers. Animals all looked healthy and well cared for and the staff is very sweet. The price is good considering this is a small family operated business that has to pay to house and feed and care for all the animals. Great way to spend an hour or two on a pleasant day! And there's a pony ride!

Trina Lamb

I can't believe how much fun I had as an adult! I highly recommend this zoo! Very hands on you can interact with the animals and feed them too. Looking forward to when my son is old enough to enjoy it and much as I did! Will definitely be going back!!!

Chrissy Noel

The kangaroos are so incredible and extremely gentle when feeding popcorn. Great little zoo with very friendly staff and volunteers

Courtney Bujack

I am very pleased with this zoo. The location is perfect, it’s a great size. The animals are well taken care of and are very sociable. I would prefer this zoo over Toronto as it’s much more interactive for the kids. The seasons pass is …

Perfect place for little ones to run around in a secure open fenced area. Staff are friendly, location is convenient, parking is free, nice variety of animals for kids to feed popcorn sold at the gate. Portapotty is available. Delicious fries at the snack hut. Great time and worth the membership for a easy afternoon outing with the kids. They do birthday parties too.

Megan Cochrane

Cute little zoo for a day trip. Parking is free, but can get a bit crowded sometimes. Actual zoo itself is bigger than I expected, lots of places to walk around and sit.

C Lewis

We were first time visitors to the Oshawa Zoo. It is a great place to see the animals up close. They have a lot of animals to see. The kids loved feeding them popcorn (and raisins for the lemers - but do not bring your own as they try to control their diet). The property is much larger than I was expecting, but parking seems to be limited. I would have liked some signage on each enclosure with some information about the animals. Also, the staff with the baby chicks/ducks need to be way more assertive....many children grabbing the birds and mishandling them. Overall, we enjoyed our visit.

Jain Mats

Really an amazing place to spend time with family and kids… We enjoyed a lot…. Kids will definitely love this place…..

Joshua Kubinec

Our kiddo really enjoys coming here and feeding the animals. If you decide to come, don't skimp on the popcorn as you go through it fairly quickly. I also recommend the pony rides for your smaller kids. Ours really enjoyed the ride!

Romy Studt

Pretty fun, but I wouldn't really call it a zoo. It's more like a giant petting farm. But it was still lots of great fun for the kids. We loved feeding all the animals popcorn. There is a very wide variety of animals! The food truck on site is also delicious and well priced.

sana kohistani

The animals seem well taken care of. Very awesome staff who don’t bug you and allow you to roam as you please. Beautiful and fun and fair prices :) I love supporting places where animals don’t get harmed. This looks and felt like a sanctuary. Awesomeness

Sarah Louise

Lots of animals to see and lots of space to social distance. Also love that they have trees for shade and the animals mostly have large living areas. Everything seems happy and well-cared for.

noellelailey33

Lovely outing for small children! You can feed the animals and there is a nice area for having picnics. The staff were also very friendly

Sam Pathak

Such a nice place to visit, didnt even know oshawa had a zoo..great place for kids and adults..get your own unsalted popcorn even tho they do have popcorn with salt in it which is essential for animals intake but with so many ppl coming everyday i dont think its a good idea. Get your own plain popcorn ????

Cassandra Sempson

Such a great place!! As adult i truely enjoyed this place! Price was incredibly fair, staff were very nice, animals were very friendly even on a hot day. Would definitely come back! Only suggestion while the fries were very good, smaller veggies would be better instead of huge chunks of peppers-- hard to eat lol

Shana Albo

My daughter and I had such a wonderful time at the zoo. We fed popcorn to all of the animals (sheep, goats, camels, horses and llamas). Perfect outing to a very scaleable zoo that is suitable for all ages but especially younger kids. And the lemurs are amazing! Sociable and outgoing. We wanted to take one home! Will definitely return.

Lynn Petsinis

Great place for young children. Bring a pail and fill with popcorn to feed the animals. It's more of a farm setting than zoo. Snack bar handy and prices good. Bring hat.

Arunava Basak

Really had a wonderful experience! Felt so happy to see my kid’s happy face. He was so excited to interact with the farm animals as well as take the pony ride. We had a great family outing with plenty to explore, and lot of open space. The food kiosk was also very good and all the staffs were super friendly! Must visit if you have a kid!

John Tziortzis

A hidden gem in Oshawa! What a great experience. You get up close and personal with these animals, and they are so friendly and gentle if eating popcorn from your hand. Pony ride was great. Was surprised to see some animals there like kangaroos, ostriches, and others. Will definitely be back to visit. Well worth the trip.

Kristy Farrer

Had a great time at the Oshawa Zoo! My daughter loved being able to feed the animals with popcorn. The animals seem to be well taken care of by the zoo, unlike other small zoos I have been to. Wish they had bigger ponies that kids who are over 70lbs could ride, as my daughter was looking forward to riding the ponies, but is JUST over the weight limit.

Patricia Johnson

Such a wonderful place to visit! The zoo/farm has been redesigned to prevent over crowding in any one place. COVID rules are in place and clearly visible. Lots of outdoor space to view, feed and appreciate the beautiful animals. It's great for every age...even my teenagers enjoyed the visit! Perfect outdoor leisure!

Gillian Doe

This place is awesome! So many different animals and a great place to take a break in the more rural part of Oshawa! There are lemurs, kangaroos, horses and goats - but my favourite was the deer I saw!! He was so lovely, I wish I knew which kind he was!

Kathryn McGill

Excellent for kids! Took about an hour to see all the animals and kids got to feed them popcorn. They loved seeing the animals up close and could even touch them. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn’t see information signs about some of the animals. Went on a Friday and parking lot looked very busy, but visitors were fairly spread out inside the zoo.

Jonathan Dorfman

Still a lovely place to visit. Covid has made it less fun without the petting zoo.

Zara Charbonneau

Very nice walk and had fun feeding the animals. Cool to be able to see them so close. There are picnic tables and a place to buy food. Would be nice to have a play structure or something for the kids to play on.

Xio Salinas

Love the place! Animals look happy and active. My little one loves to run around the zoo, lots of green areas, ideal for a picnic. The food from the stand is delicious!

Thalia Thompson-Toney

Our family has enjoyed going to this zoo as it gives the kids an up close interaction with the animals. They have always loved their time there. Being able to feed the animals is their favourite part. We wish there was more popcorn but other than that it was a good time. We can finish the zoo in a decent time and still be able to do other things in the day.

Farzad Ali

Good farm for the kids to enjoy and feed animals with, the place is big and open, ppl can have a little picnic too, lots of animals, they have pony rides too. Usually spent an hour or 2 to see everything.

M. O. E

Good place for kids and a day outside for a picnic and just chill. There's not many different animals but it's worth visiting

Shiv Theyagamurti

Good family day. Promos on the website allow for 1 child free with an adult. Takes about 2 hours if you want to do the pony ride as well due to line up. Maybe beneficial if they have 2 ponies going at the same time.

Chioma U

The zoo was a lot of fun. Lots of farm animals and great ambience too ????. My only feedback is around the washroom. It wasn’t clean. It was the outdoor temporary type of washroom and didn’t look maintained. Something else was the food. There wasn’t a lot of variety. I’ll advise bringing your own food along. Overall an awesome day out with the kids!

Xiaoxi He

Lovely little zoo. Kids (2 and 4 year olds) loved being able to feed and pet the animals at the zoo. If it wasn’t so far from home, I would have purchased a season’s pass. The animals all look healthy and well cared for. Facilities are clean and accessible for strollers/wagons. Plan to spend 30-60min here.

Rupan Saravana

A small zoo with many animals mostly from Southern Hemisphere. Plenty of Kangaroos were there as well. You get to touch the animals and feed them. Food to feed the animals also sold there, just the pop corns. It wasn’t crowded at the time I visited (last week of September). It costs $16 for adult a d $13 for children.

Huma Haider

It's great for young kids. We can feed them popcorn which you can buy at the front desk. The lemurs are too cute. They also have kangaroos now.

Christine Sheppard

We took our daughter for her first zoo experience, and it was exactly what we were hoping for. It offers a great opportunity to get close to animals, and spend time in a beautiful space. Perfect for young families!

Chaithanya Pallegar

Our kids enjoyed the zoo and all the animals, esp feeding and spending time with them.. All the animals are healthy and well maintained. Would visit again

Kevin L

It was our first time at this zoo and we already enjoyed it very much. Lots of space for my toddler to run around and lots of different animals to see and interact. My wife and I thinks this is better than going to the Toronto zoo for …

Yale Ramos

Yesterday was our first time visiting the Oshawa Zoo and we loved it so much. I'd choose here over the regular zoo anyday. A lot of green space with a designated picnic area. You can get up very close to the animals. The description boards …

Ziad Rahman

Good place to take kids if you have them. I don't but took my dog and he enjoyed it. You can also feed popcorn to the animals which was fun.

Fulvio Calogiuri

It's a very nice and friendly place where you can take your kids and show them farm animals and some wild animals too. They provide you ???? to feed the animals and kids . My advise is to bring something and have a picknick there . There rest room are the plastic chemical toilets .

Nick James

In all the years I've lived in the area, THIS was my first time there! The animals are all so friendly! Or, could it be that really enjoyed the popcorn that we said yes to when we paid for our entry! Lol! Signs were clearly posted everywhere of which animals we were not allowed to feed as well as reminders for Social Distancing. Although not needed, we wore our masks the entire time. We could see that a few other customers did the same. We were able to see; goats, sheep, maras, kangaroos, peacock, horses, deer, donkeys, ponies, rams, reindeer, llamas, lemurs, pigs, ducks and chickens. (If this zoo had monkeys I probably wouldn't have left!) Great first-time experience and I could see us coming back!

Haneen

Overall, the experience was okay. Here are some things I wish they changed: -All the animals were being fed BUCKET loads of popcorn (the farm sells them to customers who then toss them at the animals). And sadly, the animals seemed more attracted to the popcorn than their own food (grass). I seriously doubt giving them popcorn is healthy to begin with since it isn’t a food they naturally consume. my response to the owner: treats are given sparingly, not in bucket loads. -Some of the animals, such as the sheep and lamas, had VERY dirty coats. It seems as though they have not been brushed or cleaned for awhile. The zoo needs to work on improving the caretaking of these animals. The images speak for themselves.

Denise Lewis

Beautiful, fun family place to be! The animals are so friendly and they look a lot happier as they have large areas to run around. Great place for kids . Large enough for social distancing. My second time in 3 weeks

Isabel Rauh

I visited the zoo with family members and we had a lovely time. My precious granddaughter was a joy to watch, her interactions with feeding the animals, although tentative at first, was adorable. Staff were wonderful and the french fries were delicious. Perfect way to spend a morning.

Amanda Boyle

A fun family activity! The animals were friendly and my kids (1 & 3) loved feeding them the popcorn! Very cool to see kangaroos so up close. Easily walkable and stroller friendly, very suitable for little ones. We brought a picnic and had a very nice few hours. Definitely plan to visit again!

Caroline Lam

Great place to visit with children, friendly and helpful staff, variety of animals to see. Would definitely return!

Karima Nizami

Really good place for young kids. Staff is so friendly and this place can be a good picnic spot for a day

Brian Osborne

We found the animals well looked after with food and plenty of water. All the staff were very polite and friendly . The zoo grounds very clean . We had a great day and will definitely return . The Monkey Mike's food service made excellent food which even made the day complete . My Granddaughter asked me why are people feeding the Lemurs as the zoo posted signs not to . I said people are not following the signs .Maybe they need a second fence .

Jeanny

Spacious, clean and interactive place. They have farm animals as well as lemurs, camels and kangaroos. Feeding animals is an option, bring a bucket for convenience. Great entertainment for toddlers and young children. Nice large pockets of grassy area to sit and have snacks. Would definitely go again and recommend families to visit.

Celia Z

If you live near by, this is a great place for kids to pet/feed animals. It's especially good for younger kids, since everything is close by and there's minimal walking (compared to Toronto zoo). However the diversity of animals is far less than the Toronto zoo of course, it's more like a farm than a zoo.

Andrea Furo

My daughter and I have been coming here since she was 6 months old. We love it here :) everyone is able to distance for covid safety. The staff is always friendly. We love the animals. We go several times a season. Thanks Oshawa Zoo for your love of the animals and making this a fun and safe place for families to come.

Heather Ferguson

Great for young children. Get a bag of popcorn and you can feed most of the animals. Great to support a local business! Worth the trip.

Jen P

Wonderful place to take a 6 year old! The whole park is outside, parking is free and the entry fee is very reasonable. I really didn't feel scalped at all, like you do in some places. A bag of two of popcorn from the entry booth means you can feed most of the animals by hand or from the bag and my son loved that! The pony ride was another highlight and well worth the extra $6 on top of the entry fee. There's also a shack selling fries, hot dogs etc and picnic tables to bring your own lunch. Literally the only thing missing was a gift shop, but I liked that - no pressure to buy plastic stuff, just good clean farm fun and it added to the feeling that the staff were just happy to share their farm rather than out to make $$ off us!

Kim Mascoll

I love it. The animals are friendly and you get a close up and personal experience with them too. We have a season's pass and go a few times a week. Great way to spend an hour or all day.

Aaron O'Neill

Great little zoo to visit, grounds are clean and all animals looked well taken care of. Only improvement I would suggest is to have some employees walking around so if your visitors have zoo questions they can get answers. I know during my visit I was looking for someone walking around to provide info and saw nobody.

Demara Lodge

We love the Oshawa Zoo. Missed the pony rides today, hopefully they can get them back and running. Great place to social distance. Little food stand they had makes great food. Thanks for a great afternoon, we will be back soon.

Melanie T

Cute little zoo, great for the little ones. The price is decent for a single day admission. They do offer printable coupons online and amazing family memberships! When you arrive they ask if you'd like to buy popcorn to feed the animals. We had a nice visit. Will definitely go again.

Nicole B

The best place to let your kids learn and have fun in a safe open area. Perfect way to spend a summer day, pack a picnic or buy some of their yummy food. We personally LOVE their popcorn when we go! They have a wide variety of animals to pet and feed popcorn to. Highly recommend buying their season pass, it's worth it!

Stephanie Miller

Took my girls and they had a blast! The animals were friendly and gentle, my little one loved being able to feed them popcorn!! She especially loved her pony ride! We had an amazing time there and the staff were also extremely friendly.

hira bokharee

Really nice and small farm with plenty of farm animals. Animals are close to pet and kids and adults are happy to feed them popcorn.

Ashleigh Hester

It's a great spot for a quick visit. There isn't much signage about the animals and can be a little hard to navigate a stroller, at times, but overall it's a family, friendly place. Popcorn to feed the animals is available for purchase.

Nishan Vijay

We had an amazing experience at the Oshawa Zoo. It was very interactive for the kids. They enjoyed feeding and petting the animals. I would visit this over the Toronto Zoo anyday!!

Linda

Great fun for the kids. The grounds are the perfect size to stroll. A nice variety of animals. Can bring in your own snacks. Definitely recommend!

Elizabeth Rerrie

A great way to spend a couple of hours with the kids. You can get up close to these beautiful animals who are pretty social and look well cared for. The kids really enjoyed getting to feed the animals popcorn. We will definitely visit again

Zeeshan Haider

Its a nice place to go out with family. They dont have alot of animals like Elephant, lions, tigers but they have cows, horses, deer etc. Very safe place for kids to enjoy with animals.

Ruth Mattinson

My friend and I had a fantastic day yesterday here! We bought the tickets online so we’re able to get in quickly. We love being able to be so close to the animals to see the details of their expressions and physical appearance. The zoo is clean, well kept, and always a great time! Highly recommended!
