This is truly a hidden gem.....my family and I were visiting from Kitchener and we were pleasantly surprised by the awesome experience. The virtual reality booth was phenomenal. Thanks to the young lady who stayed on after her shift had ended to allow my parents a chance to enjoy the VR experience. And thanks to Angie for the great introduction to the museum and its background.... We will be back...

I love everything about this place, and the staff is super friendly and helpful!!!

I saw different plant residuals there, which are from 1500 ad. They also kept some real bones from animals which they got during new constructions. They provide knowledge about that things , which they kept like sweet grass, which was used as a perfume in earlier days as well as accessories. I learn a lot there about past culture. They also made some paintings on the walls reflecting earlier days.

We had a great day and learned alot. The staff made this trip very fun and informative. We will come back again and we have already recommended this place to other families. I do wish we could have gone inside of a longhouse though. The gift shop is great. Bring money

Could use more content but is very informative non-the-less. My son had fun here.

At $5, it is far worth the price and time to look at the many displays of products of excavations of previous settlers on the site (namely the Iroquios and Huron people). A replica longhouse stands in the outdoor part of the exhibit. The thrilling pizzaz to the visit is a virtual reality experience of visiting a longhouse for an absolute steal of $2. I heartily endorse this visit by giving it 5 stars!

Love history and prehistoric stuff so this is a favorite of mine in London.

Great place, only thing is when they do events there is not a lot of parking available aside from street parking that extends quite a way. For those with small children, or those who are unable to walk as far, it makes attending interesting events somewhat discouraging. Otherwise, this is a great place - I highly recommend attending the teachings and events offered.

Enjoyed it a lot, very interesting. Went at beginning April, so nothing much was happening, i was the only one there, but i loved walking in the forest seeing all the beginnings of spring.

Went there for the Maple Fest. Big question--Where Was the Maple? No tapped trees, no cooking maple, no-one discussing how to process maple with the kids, no one talking about the cultural significance of maple to the traditional indigenous people who inhabited the area, just some people standing around a fire out back chatting and inside some maple snacks for sale. I feel like this event was completely misrepresented. If you've been to the museum with the kids once and learned about the culture and history of the area you've pretty much been there and done that. . . .nothing else to see.

Michelle Lucier

Best place to go and a friendly environment ????

Honestly, I was disappointed in how small this museum is. My thought was "that's it?" Other than that, there's nice hiking trails near it and Pow wows are amazing!

There really isn't much for the kids to do. It was fun letting the kids play outside. But I could do that at any local park for free.

We came to London for the day and stayed the night because the roads had been so bad with the unshoveled snow and drifts. We wanted to make the most of our stay and see something out of the ordinary. Anything historical or informative came to our minds. Never knew this place existed until I punched in 'Tourism London Ontario' into a search engine. Pretty cool place and a fair amount you can learn about the province. There was a VR room but the IT person was not in that day to fix it so we couldn't view (it was supposed to be a hut, or a long house I believe). Regardless we enjoyed our visit. The trail down the ravine along the creek was snow laden and incredibly peaceful. A few shoeshoeing passed us by. Will likely be back in the summer and see the virtual simulation room and to see the outdoor Lawson Site, out back of the museum.

We are a homeschooling family traveling around from museums to galleries and the museum of Ontario archeology is on the top of our list. Amazing experience today with a guided tour tailored nicely to young children and we would highly recommend for those looking to further educate kids and help visualize what this area was like many years ago...

I went in the winter so unfortunately I could not see everything. If you are a fan or Archeology you will love it. Its only $5 bucks for an adult and it helps keep a small museum like this up and running so I don't have a problem with it. They have some really cool special features though!!

I love this Museum!! Attended a dream catcher workshop with Maria. She is an amazing teacher ... very patient, kind and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the class, as well as the info regarding the history of how dream catchers came to be!! Much respect to our knowledgeable, wise elders! XO

Love this museum! Very interesting exhibits, artwork and artifacts. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, even offering our family a mini guided tour as we came late in the day and missed the last tour. The longhouse is very well maintained and interactive; my son had a great time climbing up and pretending to sleep. And the forest trails behind are beautiful and provided a great walk after our museum visit. We'll definitely be back soon!

It's very small, but a great way to spend an hour or so. Admission is very cheap. It has some interesting fossils. The longhouse can no longer be entered, but for $2 you can visit a virtual reality longhouse, which is a neat experience.

Myself and my 14 year old daughter were visiting Canada from Ireland and loved this museum. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, especially Angie. While it's not very big, that's part of its charm. The Virtual Reality exhibit allows you a fantastic opportunity to get a sense of life in the Long Houses for First Nation people, and the reproductions outside enhances and deepens this experience. Make an effort to find them, and I encourage the Museum staff to continue to try to get better signage!

Very much in a little neighborhood, we thought the GPS was wrong. Nice way to understand the first nation peoples and how they lived. Staff very helpful. And they have an optional interesting virtual reality component that's worth taking. We enjoyed our visit, worth spending an hour or more.

Lovely museum specializing in Ontario early history that not many have heard of (or so it would seem). In addition to standard exhibits, they have a VR station and they are located next to an archaeological site: a town that is over 500 years old. I helped host a catering event there, which the owners tell me they want to start doing more of. So if you are planning an event and you are looking for a place to hold it, consider the Museum of Ontario Archaeology.

Very helpful and informative, exhibits are well put together and the staff know exactly what they are talking about. also the museum is built on an archeology site.

Elizabeth Reeves

It looks like a work in progress. Most of the artifacts are in drawers not labelled or identified. They have to seriously work on the manner of display. Tell people what it is... what it's made of, used for.. when... I hope it gets done

Jeff Metcalfe

Came for the trails, stayed for the informative and well put together exhibits. 9/10, would learn again.

Exhibit inside building old fashioned and tired. A diaorama of the Lawson site would be more appropriate than St Marie among the Hurons. Indoor exhibits more of a collection than archeological finds. Little to no indication of sites where exhibits found. If shells from Florida and copper trade goods are among exhibits, why not show how the indigenous people used the rivers as highways for trade ie a decent map of how the rivers and creeks of southern Ontario are joined together ie the Medway joins the Thames and the Thames flows into Lake St Clair ie Detroit and to the Ohio and Mississippi.Rivers also go west to Stony Point and Arkona and North to Gorgian Bay. There are exhibits from all of these places. The Lawson site is a jewel. It shows perfectly why the indigenous people lived there. The confluence of the Snake Creek and the Medway River. This is like Toyota siting at Woodstock where the 401 and 403 join. The rivers where the highways for trade of the indigenous. The site was defendable and there was land to farm. Who did they need to defend themselves against.? Why no mention of the Mound Indians. There is a Mound Indian site at Port Huron Michigan just across from Sarnia and a site in Scarborough (Taber mountain) and nothing in-between. I find that hard to believe. Maize and squash(I think) that were grown at the Lawson site aren't native so they must have come from the south(the Mound Indians?) Are there relevant pollen analysis to show how the climate has changed? The exhibition goes up to contact but there is no indication when this culture ended or even who they were(Wyndat?) As to the newer exhibit inside how about a few labels on the pictures. There is one that could just as easily be a garum(fish sauce) production facility in the middle East from Roman times. With no label who knows. Thanks

Although it is really out of the way for most London, Ontario residents, this is fascinating examination into the archeology of the region with elaborate exhibits, models and even a grand recreation of a native longhouse beautifully set in a wooded area in the back.
