We've got all the reviews of real people who are purchasing the products of IMAX (Museum) near Oak Bay (Canada).
Now the firm receives a rating of 4.7 stars over 5 and this score is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings that it reaches is practically the best one, and it's based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may think that the valuation is very credible. If people have bothered to rate when they are pleased, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to give tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Museum belongs to the category of IMAX theater.
Awesome film technology and comfy theatre. Great films. Absolutely horrible insanely overpriced snack bar items that will probably give you cancer and dental caries.
I recommend The IMAX theater in Victoria, British Columbia - Canada Time well spent . Fabulous . outstanding service
Huge screen that is amazing in 3D you actualy have to look around. The sound is better than your standard Cineplex Moviehouse. Altogether a great experience.
Great place for family , great films on the largest screen in BC. Great museum exhibits upstairs!! You can acquire yearly passes.
Comfy seats, biggest screen in BC, awesome sound. Recommend getting the annual pass. It's worth it.
We saw Hurricane. Largest IMAX screen in BC. The movie, Hurricane, was full of intensity. The IMAX experience brought this out. We loved it.
4k UHD screen? Largest in BC? Nothing beats this IMAX. Cannot recommend enough ~
Great to be in Inax again and the social distance protocols are effective, safe, and they are NOT inconvenient! Will be back again and again!
I've always had a fantastic experience @Imax Victoria. Even when things have gone wrong the staff have always stepped up and done the right thing. Also the season pass is definitely worth it if your going on a regular basis.
Highly recommend the annual pass and coffee club if you work close by. Staff are really nice and they always have coffee ready for you.
Awesome sound! We saw Bohemian Rhapsody and it was amazing with IMAX!
After improving the old icky chairs, IMAX Victoria upgraded their projection system to a 4K laser projection. The 3D movies are beautiful and are the one place in town that doesn't give me a bit of a headache. To make it worth your while, get a yearly pass for only $50ish - a single ticket is pricey, so the pass pays for itself almost immediately. Hollywood movies in the evening are only $5 with the pass! I liked this place before the renovations, but it's even better now.
Very nice theatre with beautiful visuals and complete surround sound, boasting 4k and speakers completely around you makes the experience amazing. Complimented by the 6 story tall screen and the comfortable seats whatever move you go to see, even if you don't find the topic interesting it will be beautiful to watch.
Big screen and big sound. Great place to watch select blockbuster films. Seats are comfortable. Reasonable prices. The documentaries are also very good. Great place to spend a lazy afternoon.
This is the largest theatre screen in British Columbia. I highly recommend the annual pass. Under $50 for unlimited 45 minute movies and $4-5 per Hollywood film.
The last time I was at a true IMAX experience is when I was a little boy. Going back now that I am an adult it still is an amazing experience. The way the film pulls you into the story is awesome. Looking forward to going back!! Thanks for an amazing afternoon!! ????
We were surprised to see so many people at a 7:30 showing for the Incredibles 2, over 2 months after opening, but we had a great experience. Everyone from the ticket counter, concessions, to the staff that sets up the Imax experience were excellent. The seats aren't fancy like some others, but the screen more than makes up for it. The guy who did the house announcements had such a good voice, he should be in radio or do voiceovers!
Large, comfy, and the staff are fantastic - they'll entertain you before the show and get you in as quick as humanly possible.
The laser 3D is amazing. We wait till shows come out here, worth the wait. 3D makes me feel bad in other theatres but laser makes it so I dont get that.
Always a fantastic experience, no matter what you see or where you sit in the theatre. The 3D shows are the best!
Not huge but latest spec. Amazing prices. Amazing sound, amazing picture. Plan your parking as there isn't any non-street available close by.
I've been many times over the years. Awesome deal if you can get the pass. Movies are always fairly diversified and the "Hollywood" screenings change quite often. Staff is always nice. Seats are comfy. Theater is kept clean. Cool way to break out a day in Victoria and learn something new.
The chair made me sick, the curved back of the chair make my chest compressed during the show, and I felt so bad that I went to doctor and ask for Cardio checkup which ends up everything is fine, the symptom went away after a few days, but as soon as I went back to the theater and sat on the chair, the compressed chest feeling came back. I have annual pass, after a few visits, I finally able to link the problem to the curved figure of the chair back. now when I visit the theater, I intentionally sit straight so my torso will not fall into the curve of the chair back. I still go to the theater because of the awesome contents and video/audio experience. but will give up later. By the way, I am generally a healthy middle-aged man with regular physical exercises.
was really awesome to finally get to go back
The Panda movie was excellent, well done 3D experience. Was hoping to see hurricane but I think it would be hard to to the Panda experience
Always a good experience. Never gets old. Location is great. Always something worth seeing. Wish we could go more often. Highly recommend. Money well spent.
Best movie theater in the city. Great selection of Imax movies and the seats are extra comfy. The staff is also always excellent.
During our visit to Victoria we were delighted to enjoy “The Mysteries of Egypt” in the IMAX at the BC Museum; what a wonderful experience!
Simply the best IMAX theatre and experience I've been to (aside from the equally great IMAX in Seattle). Highly recommended for either a big budget blockbuster or the standard educational IMAX films. They often do extras for certain showings and the concession stand offer delicious treats and popcorn.
Amazing, massive screen and sound, informative documentaries and sometimes feature films too. Plus there's a food truck pod in the back of the museum!
The Pandas movie was the best! Good visibility, comfy seats, easy location. Consistent changes in what is showing, so there is often something new to see. Great for out of town guests, too.
Well run. Great tourist location
We saw Bohemian Rapsody at the IMAX and it was fantastic. The Great Bear Rainforest and Cuba were also very good. Love the big screen!
Incredible audio and visuals, saw dune and holy sh*t was it incredible. -1 star for sitting people side by side while covid cases climb insanely fast
Wicked experience! One of the few theatres in Canada equipped with the brand-new Laser 4K projectors and Dolby surround! Saw Star Wars and was blown away by the quality! A must see if you are ever visiting Victoria.
Great picture quality and sound. However, they need to have assigned seats. We had to sit on the floor one time because it was extremely crowded (possibly oversold?) and access to the rows was very tricky. Make the theatre rows more like the Odeon and Capitol6.
The Alps awesome picture a must see with a yearly pass it makes it movie night at least a couple of times a week lol so worth it...
Great detail and vivid colours, although there were some bright lines across the bottom and top of the screen for some odd reason, but didn't take away from the experience that much.
Photo is a view of the screen from seat G33. I got to see Great Bear Rainforest tonight. I really loved it and had a great time. The seating is so soft and comfy. The popcorn smelled delicious!
I enjoyed the 3D whale IMAX film. It was beautiful to see them in their natural habitat and how remarkable of a species they are. I did however find it extremely irritating that at the end they advocate for “safe fishing nets”, instead of bringing real awareness to how all fishing kills whales and is destroying the eco-system.
So good!!!! We saw the Predator movie today and it was fantastic. Really amazing photography and an informative and enjoyable storyline. Worth every cent of the ticket price. If I lived in Victoria I'd have an annual pass to see every movie for sure. Really great documentary and movie experience.
Great IMAX theatre. I'd give the experience of theatre a 5-star but the food a less than stellar option. They offer amazing presentations about nature, some in 3D then they serve the most basic, unhealthy food in the world common at every concession. Would love to see the content of the movies and the museum inline with the food at the concession.
Biggest screen in bc! Literally. McgiliveryFreeman gets a little repetitive, with a few scenes that seem to be similar in all of his movies though. But still great to go watch something at the IMAX . I recomend it.
Enjoyed 3D movie with my 5 years old son & 3 years old daughter! They could get booster sheets & all staff were very nice!
I hold an annual pass, so go whenever there's a film that looks interesting at a time that's convenient. The theatre was recently upgraded, with cushy seats and an incredible digital projection system. The old film projection was OK before, but after the upgrade the images are absolutely stunning in it's crispness and clarity. Food concession is good as well - besides the usual pop, popcorn, and candy they have coffee and baked goods from local suppliers - yummy!
Just went to the IMAX @ the Royal BC Museum. Everything there was clearly marked and there was tons of spacing between the seats where people were allowed to sit. It was very clean and they've made significant efforts to meet or exceed the COVID-19 requirements.
The IMAX was an awesome experience with a huge screen. The employees were really friendly too!
Staff are friendly and accommodating, theatre is very clean, seats are very comfortable.
Really enjoy going here, always have a great time watching documentaries or movies! The ushers are also super nice and the theatre is clean and pretty comfy. Overall great place for kids and adults alike to watch nature documentaries and learn about our planet.
Good theater and popcorn. Bad toilets.
I liked everything about the Imax. The sound system is great. Good experience.
Top tier IMAX experience. Screen & audio is immaculate.
The IMAX in its self is amazing! My wife purchase tickets online. When we got there, it turned out that she had 2 seats for row B. She cannot watch the big screen from that close, the show... Bohemian Rhapsody was sold out and she stated that she did not choose those seats. But it all turned out fine, had to look away from the screen a couple of times. What an awesome moving!
IMAX Victoria has a really affordable concession and great staff. Highly recommended!
I love IMAX Victoria. It was the first in BC to get 4K laser projection, and the clarity of picture is outstanding. The sound is quite impressive as well. I tend to wait for Hollywood movies to reach IMAX Victoria after a few months because the seats are incredibly comfy, and while you wait in the lobby before heading into the cinema, it a nice change compared to the loud fast paced lobbies at major theatre. If your ever get the chance to tour the projection booth, it’s a must for any film goer that wants to experience the past and present of IMAX. Check out IMAX Victoria if you never been, I am pretty sure you will love it.
I was a first time visitor. We saw Cuba. I was amazed at the size and the clarity of picture. Was amazing.
Biggest screen in BC! I have been an annual pass holder here for the past three years and think it's the best deal in town. I'm not even 2 months into the year and I already feel like I've gotten my monies worth.
LOVE the iMax. Educational films and well as top movies. Fun for whole family. If you live locally, the season pass is extremely good value.
Always fantastic. Buy and reserve your tickets and seats in advance.
Amazing the 3D was like nothing i had ever seen before the screen is so large and very clear !!! best ever it is a must see !!!
The Imax experience is always amazing. The theatre offers comfortable chairs, clear and loud sound, and a stunning screen. You can even get popcorn and a drink for under $10. Really a fun experience all around
Awesome films laser projector, sound system is the best, often 3D and BIG screen what more do you want. ...
We take the kids there often. It is a great outing and can be low cost if you get the iMax passes. They are available at the begining of each year. The food at the concession is pricey, the movies don’t change too often. Sometimes it is tricky to get the movie you want to see at the right time. Line ups can be gig and if you show up last minute it can be stressful to get into the movie you want to see. My son is color blind and the 3D movies give hime a headache so we try to go to the regular showings but it can be tricky. The staff is friendly and the museum is a great place to hang out. The parking is hard to come by I would suggest getting a bus downtown from a park and ride if you can.
Best IMAX experience and annual pass is good deal....only wishes are reclining seats and more turnover of films. Seems like little film turnover after IMAX's film festival occuring in Jan or Feb. Hardly go to IMAX from April to September unless new film that piques my interest.
Great shows but difficult for impaired persons to get seated early. Love that IMAX experience!
Great way to view a movie. Reserved seating is the best, screen size and comfortable seating.
The overall experience was great - however, the 3D movie had several scenes where I felt like my glasses needed cleaning (cause it had hazy parts of the screen), but it ends up the same thing was happening to my friend. Either way - wow what a screen! Biggest in BC (so it seems ????)!
Saw a movie with The Rock, who is as good at acting as A ROCK in this IMAX but it shouldn’t reflect negatively on the establishment. The movie - Jumanji 2 was quite a thrilling experience. You’re not meant to take photos inside a cinema hall so I took a photo of a totem that’s outside. Not going to miss out on getting 5 points from google - points which are essentially as good as rocks acting - for nothing.
This is one of the first and few places that are already equipped with new, state of the art, 4K laser projectors. The image quality is incredible, and you will definitely notice the deep blacks and beautiful, crisp colors. The seats are extremely comfortable, the screen is 6 stories tall, and the experience is unmissable!
Just saw Bohemian Rhapsody and it was spectacular to see it on the giant screen with fantastic sound. IMAX is amazing
Organization was not up to its usual good standard at the IMAX. Difficulty getting in because of event in the usual entrance. The feature film free solo was excellent.
Bohemian Rhapsody was fantastic...what a great visual experience with superb sound! So happy that Imax added some extra showings!
The most incredible experience! Worth the extra cost if you’re visiting the museum. The staff kept everyone very organized, the theatre was clean, and was overall a great experience! We saw the Turtle Odyssey and it was beautiful! Would have loved to see another film but ran out of time.
Best picture and sound anywhere. By the annual pass and gorge all year. 4 in a row....why not?
First smoke a big doobie outside and get right ripped and then go in and buckle up for a wild trip. One time I saw the movie Interstellar here while incredibly baked and it blew my brains away. 10/10 would do again No movie cinema experience like an IMAX, you feel like your IN the movie. I wish I could see all movies in the IMAX. I'm from the north island but everytime I come to Victoria I like to try and catch an IMAX movie, if you love nature programs and documentaries its a great time.
I love the IMAX - great quality picture and sound, and fun short movies during the day, hollywood blockbusters in super High Definition or some other laser guided arrangement in the the evening. Pleasant staff, who always give a little spiel about the equipment used to bring this wonder of entertainment to us, the waiting public, and a more than adequate concessions booth from which to purchase snacks that are tasty and probably very bad for us ;-P
The annual IMAX pass is one of our few ‘tourist in our own town’ type of things we do every year. They loose a star this year for increase prices on the passes and premium for the Hollywood movies. But even at these rates it is a good value. The mix of IMAX films and Hollywood movies might not hit everyone’s taste so I wouldn’t jump right into the pass. The theatre itself has a screen experience that just doesn’t exist in a regular theatre so even if your here for a couple days it’s worth a trip.
I love Imax movies. Some may find the seats uncomfortable, but I like them. In other theatres my knees get bashed anytime someone is sitting in front of me. The lineup management could improve. I recommend getting a year pass.
I love our IMAX theatre at the RBCM, my fav of all the ones I have been too, so awesome!!! ????????????
Best IMAX I’ve ever been. Magnificent sounds quality. Distance between seats is too narrow
IMAX is great but i find it hilarious the way the greeters treat the people watching the show. It's as if they assume that the people attending have never been to a theatre. In the end a good time but I feel like they need to change their approach with the patrons.
If you're looking for something to do in Victoria, this is one of those things that you have simply got to do! I haven't seen a screen as big as this one in my entire life. It's amazing seeing the scenery of the world on such a massive screen, and you become so deeply immersed in it that when you walk out of the theatre it doesn't feel right that you were just in a theatre! You will be delightfully entertained, and blown away by the experience. Each time I have gone, and I have gone many times, I have left having been blown away and looking forward to the next time. Highly recommend!
This is an awesome theatre. Today I chose it for my son's first cinematic experience. Excellent seats, sounds and good concession too. Thanks Imax!
Great theater, awesome format
The IMAX theater on downtown Victoria is an excellent venue for locals and visitors. The sound and picture quality is way beyond anything you can see in a normal cinema. There are both 3D and 2D films. I've been a number of times and never been disappointed.
Super happy that the IMAX is open again. Everything seems very clean and organized, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Be sure to grab you snacks at the concession before going in to see a show. They have the best movie theatre popcorn in my opinion!
Great theatre! The annual pass is the way to go!Only thing I'm not a fan of is how their 3d glasses fit over my glasses. Not well. Makes it a bit awkward during the longer movies.
The annual pass is a great deal! Got my first pass this year and will be re-buying next-year for sure. My favourite perk is the $5 Hollywood films.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the magic of IMAX. I love this place and have been an annual pass holder for at least 5 years. Nice mix of documentaries, plus they bring in many big Hollywood blockbusters on a second-run timeline so you can see those visual effects on the tallest screen in BC. Comfy seating and nice options at the concession. They do reserved seating for some showings now, which is nice because you don't need to arrive early for a good central seat.
Very educational and entertaining. Great visuals. Comfy seats. Good popcorn and great prices for movies, especially with the annual pass.
IMAX, my favorite movie theatre. I remember going to this IMAX when I was a kid. It was amazing then. And with last year's digital upgrade, it's amazing now! Big screen, but sound, big seats, plus block buster movies as well as their documentaries and scenic vids.
You can't beat the Royal BC Museum for its leading edge IMAX technology. Superdogs was engrossing.
Amazing sound and the picture quality is excellent. Comfortable seats and it was a great movie (Dunkirk). Well worth it going there to see a show if you have never been. 6 story tall screen!
Great theatre, 3D is very good and the resolution of the screen is great. The seatings are probably standard, but still I wished they would be a little bit wider. Overall experience is very good. I recommend getting an annual pass if you're local
This is a wonderfully clean and well kept Imax theatre. The social distancing efforts were effective but they worked with us for our group of 7. Staff is friendly. My only complaint is that the shows tend to be shorter and shorter each time we come, but that's a production thing, nothing to do with this theater. Our family likes coming here each time we're in Victoria.
Always a great experience.. 3d movies are the best at the IMAX.
We saw the PANDA show and it was really good ! Seats were super comfy. We had a great time. ????
It's so cool ????, every 1 should try it
We saw the Movie Top Gun tonight at the IMAX. Truly an amazing experience, no other screen will do this movie justice. Cross this one off the Bucket List.
An impressive place located within the BC Royal Museum with the largest IMAX screen in BC and 4K Laser projection which is thrilling to experience! There are usually four films featured with feature, full length movies in the evenings.
This location is in the heart of downtown Victoria. The IMAX itself adjoins the Royal BC Museum which is very convenient. The staff are helpful and friendly. Great variety of shows.
Super. We saw film on Humpback whales.
A well organized theatre that offers spectacular films in high definition. The theatre is always in immaculate condition; very clean and the staff are always pleasant.
It's well worth it to get a IMAX seasons pass- exclusive offers and discounts. Parking is always a hassle- but that's Victoria for you.
The IMAX theatre is very comfortable, clean and easy to access. My wife and I have been several times, and I don't think there has been a movie we didn't like.
We watched Bohemian Rhapsody the movie about Queen and Freddy Mercury. The massive screen was great. But, the 12.1 surround sound was amazing. During there recording of the song Bohemian Rhapsody it was as if you were in the recording studio with sounds all around.
The IMAX is located inside Royal BC Museum building. We pre-purchased our tickets for shows on two different days. Comfortable atmosphere in the line-up, and in the theater, with a choice any of the seats. Shows were good, one in 3D, and the other in high definition. We will definitely return agian next year.
If you are a local, grab an annual pass at the beginning of the year so that you can visit anytime during the year for free.
I have a season's pass so I go quite often. A great variety of short films, documentaries, and feature films are always available and many are in 3D. I have never been disappointed in any of the film's. The staff here are always friendly and helpful and they have a wonderful concession. The theatre, and seating is always extremely clean and comfortable. Definitely worth the price of admission.
What an amazing theatre, the new screen and seats are amazing and the film quality is excellent. Good snacks, friendly staff and enjoyable, educational films as well as feature length blockbusters on the big screen. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the magic of IMAX.
The most craziest movie I’ve ever seen! It was so fun and the experience of sound, video, and 3D was so exciting. My husband and I really enjoyed it and was very comfortable in the recliner seats!
I loved it, only thing was the waiting on the ramp. We were crammed in line for 20 minutes. We couldn't move...
Great seats, fantastic picture, wonderful sound. Going to see top gun next week.
Fantastic screen, fantastic sound, laser 4k screen. I've of the best around. Worst thing is the seats, which aren't up to the amazing recliners in other theaters, but that's the worst there is to say about the theater.
Saw Interstellar on the BIG screen at the Museum Imax last night. I love the fact they play feature films in this amazing theatre - largest screen in BC. Not a bad seat in the house - staff are always friendly and courteous - good snack bar - clean theatre and washrooms. What more could one need for a great viewing experience?
I showed up a couple minutes late, but the staff let me in anyways and couldn't have been nicer about it! I saw 1917 on the big screen and it was amazing; far better than it would have been at home or on a regular screen!
Awesome huge screen. Great sound though it could be a bit louder at times. The popcorn is much better then regular theater popcorn. The 3D is amazing. The seats are ok but the backs are a bit too upright to be truely comfortable. The staff had always been fantastic. Convenient location. All around a great experience that I will repeat whenever I'm in Victoria.
Get a years pass for 50 bucks and you're in for some great times....ps...the rocks in the museum are awesome to collect!
It's a really cool experience to watch a movie on such a large screen. They play movies usually every hour, so you don't have to wait too long to watch a short documentary or a movie.
Enjoyed the experience of watching
Got annual passes for the family. Saw 4 documentaries with the family. Loved the bear, animals, and doc on China too. Will continue going throughout the year.
Love the IMAX. A huge screen. well trained and attentive staff. modest concession stand with STALE popcorn. Staff are well trained. Accessible. Accessible washrooms down the hall in the Royal BC Museum.
We don't have an IMAX in my home town so we always visit the IMAX when we visit Victoria. Being right at the core of Victoria makes it convenient to visit if you're in one of nearby hotels. However, its complicated if you have to find a place to park. The enormous and encompassing screen will make any film look great. When it involves the weather, you feel you're in the middle of the storm. Another great effect is when you're in a plane and you fly up the side of a mountain and then over the top to see only a vast space below. You feel it in your stomach. It always seems pricey when you make only occasional visits. If I lived in Victoria, I would certainly buy an annual pass.
We were entertained with Alps, Hurricane & Nascar in 2018. Truly enjoyed all 3 in 1 day. 3 shows in a day is too exhaustive, next visit max. limiting to two. In 2019 watched Predators. Btw incase if you are wondering only 1 shot taken inside auditorium that's our host.
Good operation during covid 19, highly recommend “the great bear rainforest” IMAX
Great Bear Rainforest would have been better as a silent movie. They need much better ventilation on the ramp where everyone waits to get into the Imax.
Went to see Dune. No social distancing. No space between seats. Some people were wearing masks, lots not. Pretty scarey. Walked out.
Highly recommend to see the video or movie ahead of seeing the static displays throughout the BC Museum. It will likely get you into a more fulfilling mindset to learn more.
Comfortable seating with a great screen. Best way to see a film. Helpful staff and accessible disability seating.
Great selection of movies. Seems like they change often. Was clean amd well done. Can get busy. Family atmospere with lots to do. The runtime for the bears movie was 40 mins. Kids sat thtough it no problem.
Excellent!!!! My Mom has a walker and they were so helpful and kind. Egypt and Pandas were so interesting, I'd go back again!!
Great place, if you live in the area it is really worth getting an Imax anual pass, the films they show are great and you get discounted admission to their feature film showings. We went to see Avengers infinity war when it played in Imax and it was spectacular with the big screen in 3D.
Saw 4 movies back to back. Extra savings when you watch more of them. Vack row middle are the most comfy chairs. Saw seallions, asteroids, turtles, and humpbackhales. Will be back soon gor the orca exhibit.
The emphasis on 3D is very disappointing. Neither my husband or I can enjoy movies in 3D and the ones in 2D are typically shown in the morning. Not our best time to see a movie. We have season's passes and had bought a pair for my son and daughter-in-law. It turns out that neither of them enjoy 3D either since it gives them headaches. At least have some 2D showings in the afternoon please.
Amazing experience. Learn from my mistake: Sit at the back row or three quarter to one side so you don't have to keep looking around to see the whole screen.
Wonderful venue is very accessible with comfortable seats and parking was ok. The lineups are huge and no fun at entry. The exit door was not the same as the entry door, so you don't know where you are being chucked out at night. Bit disconcerting.
Clean facility, amazing picture and sound quality. Seats are very cushiony but terribly uncomfortable!!
Amazing theater. Unobstructed views from every seat. IMAX is the best format to watch a movie. Great experience.
Friendly staff, good entertainment.
awesome picture and sound, Dune at IMAX was fantastic.
I was having problems with my new annual pass, so I emailed them, and Lea was prompt and extremely helpful with sorting it out and getting me tickets for the evening's show. Great service!
The theatre is very nice. We saw the 3D Turtle Odyssey with our grandson. He loved it. A great way to spend a indoor day in Victoria.
IMAX Victoria is a very well run and organized theatre. The concession is reasonably priced and the goodies are yummy! The Theatre is clean and the staff are all very helpful. The movies are excellent, and the Blockbuster shows in the evening gives us the chance to catch the big movies in a much nicer theatre. The annual pass is an outstanding deal with unlimited IMAX daytime movies for the calendar year (January to December.) The blockbusters are very reasonably priced and are discounted for annual pass holders.
Great! only thing is although the seats are comfortable it's not so easy to get out of the row if you want too.
Watched great bear rain forest. Unreal, SO AMAZING. Sound and screen were like nothing i had ever seen! Must do.
love the imax, but each time we were there we had to just stay 1 show because of a perfume smell. We sat in the same area each time,so I am curious if its not a air freshner.Would be nice if they had a chemical free zone
Six story tall screen. Great sound. Concession prices are cheap (for a theatre). Recommended.
Terrific way to experience media. The theater is very well set up other than the seat rows are a bit too tightly spaced; I had my seat back frequently bumped/kicked...
Sea Lon show was great.
My wife and I have had annual passes for the last four years and love everything about this theater, especially the staff both in the theater and at the snack bar. They should be commended for their friendly, energetic helpful attitude to all your patrons and is why we keep renewing ou annual pass
The IMAX theater at the Royal BC Museum is one of the best entertainment values in Victoria. The sound system and the screen are the best I have experienced.
Watched the into Egypt movie after seeing the Egyptian exhibit at the Royal BC museum in Victoria, as always it was a great show, highly recommend.
New seats are very uncomfortable. You are forced to sit bolt upright. The new projection system broke down last night for Star Wars. No 3D. Huge disappointment after traveling from Chemainus with grandkids. Just not good enough.
So great to be back watching the massive screen! Took our wee grandson for his first IMAX experience, he was fascinated. 40 minutes is perfect for a pre- schooler.
The Orca Experience movie was very thought-provoking.
Incredible experience My second movie at this theater Both were well received by others that shared the experience with me Looking forward to next movie.
We bought an annual pass last year and found it to be an excellent value. We did the same this year, but though we went a few times, nowhere near as often as we did last year. I don't know if it was the time that we looked up what was on, but there just didn't seem to be the variety of shows compared to last year. I think we'll pass this year and check on how often we would have gone.
Fantastic adventure at the IMAX. Loved the screen and the shows. Kudos to the volunteers as well!
Great! Movie was excellent.
The IMAX experience is always a joy. Very worthwhile and educational films are shown here.
Always a great experience
Amazing theater! Comfortable seats, unparalleled sound, very clean.
Amazing incompetance shown at the Star Wars showing. People left lined up standing outside the theatre for an hour. Older folks, one person fainted. The doors opened at 8:00 for an 8pm movie. Movie finally started at 8:15. Organizers need to learn something from this.
Great viewing on the gigantic screen. Seats a bit uncomfortable if you're smaller and/or have your hair up
Awesome sound and effects. The immediate area in front of camera, very clear and detailed. Anything it seemed, 20 ft from camera, seemed slightly blurry and not quite in focus.
Great theatre but they also have great annual pass deals that if I lived there I would buy at the drop of a hat.
I love the IMAX. I do wish they played more Hollywood movies here though. The film's shown are breathtaking, with so much love and effort put into them. The seats are comfortable and the aisles are spacious. There are handicapped access points and seating areas if needed. Great idea if you're a tourist in town , or on a date, with children or your grandparents. A fun stop for all with new shows always rotating through the theater!
Good spacing between parties but seats not as comfortable at Capital 6 or Odeon
The accommodations at the IMAX are so conducive in assisting seniors; especially those of us who require scooters or wheelchairs. Thank you IMAX that we can “drive” right into the theatre without annoying others
The feature length movies r a blast : the regular 45 minute r always excellent
Excellent snack selection that exceeded my expectations. The Mysteries of Egypt didn't seem so mysterious after an exhilarating 50 minutes in BC's largest IMAX. Did I mention they have twizzlers???
Great shows, well worth our season's pass. Saw Cuba and the Great Bear Rain Forest both are excellent.
Unfortunately the 3D projector was not working. Took away from the experience. But it was amazing to see a show in the IMAX. I would reccomend it.
"Excellent snack selection that exceeded my expectations. The Mysteries of Egypt didn't seem so mysterious after an exhilarating 50 minutes in BC's largest IMAX. Did I mention they have twizzlers???" - Austin Warren
We've been members for years but I have to admit, I'm ready for IMAX to upgrade the theatre's comfort. With the Yates street theatres installing the luxury seats, I think the theater should consider upgrading the chairs. They don't really recline, they just sorry of.. Tilt? Anyway, the staff is always awesome, which makes up for the old seats. They've started getting better Hollywood movies more frequent but they could rotate them in a little more regularly. Maybe bring back some classics for a limited time? Your see some great marquee posters on the wall. Wouldn't you love to see The Dark Knight again on the big screen? Or Mad Max? Or Apocalypse Now? Sold out shows, guaranteed. My two cents...
Love IMAX, we get passes every year and we go to most of the films all year and enjoy the Hollywood blockbusters there as well.
I love IMAX. But theatre is not handicapped friendly. Only stairs no ramps.
There is nothing like the Imax experience to make you feel you are part of what you are watching. I think it is the only format that really conveys the beauty, power and majesty of nature.
Very nice tiered seating so everyone can see well. I like the nature-based content at the Victoria IMAX. The boxed announcements at the beginning are cringey.
Going to see something at the IMAX is definitely a top 10 item of things to do in Victoria. The screen is immense. With all of the upgrades they've done in the past few years - with sound, screen, and projection - it really makes the viewing experience second to none. Additionally, the staff consistently provide excellent service.
Big bbig screen and even bigger sound. Bohemian Rhapsody was incredible in this theatre
Was fabulously awesome! 6 stories high screen, great surround sound and roomy seats. Nothing like that in New Zealand! Will go again when visiting Vancouver Island. Can't wait! ????
I absolutley love this place! My husband and I paid for one movie and liked it so much we watched another for a discounted rate because we watched the previous one! It is so awesome!! It was in 3D and seriously felt like you were whereever!
The movies are always amazing. The images are often breathtaking. The Sporit Bear is unique to our area of the world and simply amazing to see
I think IMAX theatre is my main go-to place when I go to Vancouver or Victoria. The documentaries are 42 minutes give or take. We saw the Spirit Bear movie this time around as well as back from the brink which is about three different species who almost became extinct but were saved by people. Not something to miss if you're in Victoria. The screen is 6 stories tall! Sit in Row 8 for the best effect
IMAX Victoria has one of the largest screens in North America. Season pass makes it much more affordable. Book a day or two ahead and have a selection of the best seats in the house.
The best place for movies except that they show a limited selection of movies. I would recommend this to any tourist. Consider getting the annual pass if you live in Victoria.
The IMAX at the Museum is always a good deal for the money. Love the Huge screen. When you get the year pass, you watch 5 documentaries and rest of the year is free. Live being able to go in and watch whatever I want when I want.
