While we were in Parrsboro, we stopped into the Ottawa House after a visit to Partridge Island. It was quite interesting and I learned some more interesting facts about our Province. Did you know that Karoseen (yes as in the oil used in lamps) was discovered by a Nova Scotian? I won't spoil it all, but it was interesting to learn about the guy who discovered it. He was a very well versed individual, that you should read about at the Ottawa House ???? The staff were also very helpful and informative. It was nice to show my 10 year old daughter some of the differences between how things used to be and how they are now to put things in perspective. Definitely worth the stop and the view is worth a million dollars to say the least.

The historical home of Prime Ministe, Sir Charles Tupper. Take a walk through history in this home set in the Victorian era (1896). See artifacts from the area and it's rich ship building past. Gift shop is a little lacking. They don't have debit.

(Translated) Nice museum, it's a bit of a mess inside, but the visit is worth it just to see the interior of a house of this style (Original) Chouette musée, c’est un peu le bazar dedans, mais la visite vaut la peine rien que pour voir l’interieur d’une maison de ce style

This is a great little stop to make if you're traveling through the area. It is off the main road a little bit, but if you're making any kind of stop in Parrsboro, you should definitely take the extra few minutes to make your way here. The historical displays are engaging and the views from the beach are breathtaking. Admission is by donation too, so it's a great spot for the cost-conscious traveler who wants to experience the beauty and history of the Minas Basin.

Dan Sawler

Very informative and memorable Museum.

Evan Mather

Super cool to see the heritage of the house and to learn its history of it but it is also a great wealth of other knowledge as it really dives into the history of the surrounding geographic area. If you like Canadian history as a broad topic or like learning about this area in general this is a great place to stop.

(Translated) I whent there the staff are amazing nice and kind peoples! The place have sooo mutch history and things to see it's facinating! I had in turn with Edie, it was really instructive and really fun cus he did him self see some of it when he was young. Sorry if my english is not perfect i speak french. It really is a place to visit, so many stories and things to see in this house and this place, it is fascinating! Also, the staff are really warm and attentive they are wonderful people. I took a guided tour with Edie it was truly a beautiful informative and entertaining time travel. Especially since he himself had seen and experienced certain moments of his events when he was younger. There are a lot of things to look at, models, photos, tools, furniture etc. Also the landscape is superb. however being bilingual is really desirable as the writings are in English as well as most of the staff when I went. (Probably lack of funding to translate, as the places are mainly maintained and improved by the people of the region on a voluntary basis) Still, it's really worth the detour :) (Original) I whent there the staff are amazing nice and kind peoples! Sorry if my english is not perfect i speak french.

Great jump in time. Lots of local artifacts and stories of the past. Our guide Ed was a wealth of insight. Thanks very much. We enjoyed the tour.

Again, small but very educational, as we learned the early settlers build the first house here in Parrsboro region, as no road connection to Halifax at the time, and also learned the great premier Mr. Tupper was to Nova Scotia and Canada. Mr Gilbert, the gentleman and volunteer there, told us of some interesting story, including a boat that sank and came back to surface on its own, and got the 2nd life...

Chali33 MacDonald

Nice place and nice staff My friend forgot her purse and she was able to claim it from the staff. Good thing they're checking outside every now and then. The oceanfront view is immaculate.
