Very cool spot to visit. When i went it was match break so it was very busy with kids on their March break which was a bit of a nusance as we couldn't look at everything and give the time needed to read everything. However that is no fault of anyone's and i advice you check it out! Just maby not on March break lol. Over all a really neat place with some amazing pieces of antique equipment.

Lots of interesting vehicles and machines to see here! The trains are enough to keep the young ones entertained along with some fun activities and colourful attractions. Absolutely wonderful group of people that operate this facility. Carolyn was a staff member that touched base with me a few times as I walked around. She was very smart and very friendly to talk with. I added some photos with this review of the things I liked the best from the museum but there was plenty more to see there that I don't post!

I had no idea a museum like this even existed. Visting from Halifax and discovered this on our journey. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to see the inside of the museum due to COVID-19 closures, but I was able to see through the windows and the facility looks impressive. On the outside is a plaque dedicated to the General Mining Association, as mining is a big historical component of the area. We will be back.

Troy Stoddart

I really enjoyed the museum. I took 2hr to complete due to closing time. Rushing through I didn't get as much time at the exhibits I could have spent another 1-2hr. Staff was very friendly. Due to Covid they don't have all the exhibits open however they did their best by a follow the arrow instruction.

Michael Doary

Edward Murray

See Paul for an amazing steam engine lesson. Crazy knowledgeable and nice, great spot to stop and take a walk back through ns industrial history

Bonnie Carter

Our second trip here and we loved it. The staff is friendly, Paul was our guide the first time. I actually tracked him down the second time for a tour of the mine area, he is so knowledgable and friendly. It was alot of information and a great learning experience for the 3 generations!

Robert Wolf

Allocate 2 hours to fully walk the exhibits. None of the interactive displays don't work. Young kids will be bored. More of an "Down Memory Lane" for older adults that like old techie stuff.

Stan Allan

Shows what mining was like in Pictou County. Museum needs to be revitalized.

Bill Henderson

Definitely visit this museum ! Clean, spacious, relaxed environment with friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. Lots of interactive displays. This is our family's second visit- will probably be an annual event whenever we are in the area

Its a good place to show the history of Pictou County's industries.

This surprisingly excellent museum has something for all ages. The many interactive exhibits and excellent docent (Paul) made the experience especially informative. Of special note is Sampson the 1880 locomotive and vast tool and machine collections. The museum is built on the site of an old coal mine which adds some emotion to the visit

I went on vacation in nova scotia so basically I was a tourist. It is a MUST go for anyone, local or not. I though that industry was going to be boring but there is a LOT on interactibility and very interesting shows. Im just i could stay longer because it closes early.

Rob Beaton

Jonathan Dickie

Dustin Baptist

Please take your kids here. Our 8 and 10 year old absolutely loved it.

Justin Miles

We love it here.

Andrew Joudrey

Awesome museum! It was really neat to see the different types of industry in Nova Scotia. I was especially interested in the coal mining portion and highlights of the Pictou mining disasters. Reading the school letters about the Westtray mine explosion was very saddening. It really makes you appreciate the human aspect of the disaster. On a lighter note there are lots of great interactive options for younger kids like hand worked pumps and mini cranes! Super cool spot!

Robert Castonguay

Great place to learn about the local history. Cost is fair and the exhibits are fun to interact with even though they are starting to show their age. Overall a fun little trip for the family, but not much of a revisit value.

Brendan Woodward

Really great exhibits.

Jon Doucette

Was much bigger than expected.

What it lacks in quantity, being on the small side, it makes up for with quality and more. The exhibits are interesting and the staff are friendly and engaging. The curators and docents love their job and enthusiastically share their stories and knowledge of the interesting history of industry in the area. Very cool items in the gift shop, too.

Try out and have fun at the water pumping station! View the large works of steel. Cute display for kids. One may spend hours here if one reads everything. Nice art gallery near the end. Then had a nice picnic outside on a table on the grounds on a summer day with a light breeze.

Execllent little museum. It's got plenty of hands on stuff for kids including hydraulic experiments, trains, and an assembly line. We spent 2 hours here on a road trip to cheticamp. Great way to get the kiddos out of the car. Elevator, changing table in both restrooms, water fountains, stroller friendly

There are so many great things to say about this museum. If you find science interesting then get yourself here and be prepared to be fascinated. Hands on exhibits that show mechanical advantage with simple machines, all the ways that water power is used in industry, steam power, electricity, and beyond! Great staff and a diverse gift shop to boot!

Jasmine McLeod

Great place. Picked up a beautiful ns blanket while i was there and was charged an arm and a leg for it and the thing just falls apart literally hours later. Feels bad to have such a good experience ruined by being sold an unfinished product.

N Ohson

So much to see. What a wonderful way to preserve history. This is something everyone needs to know.

Natalie Baerg

It’s actually a pretty good museum. Very hands on and child friendly. I was at it as a child and again as an adult and it was equally interesting both times. Lots of displays of Nova Scotian history, industry(obviously), and people. Did YOU know there’s something manufactured in the province that begins with each letter of the alphabet?! The mining displays were especially interesting as they were local. Then when we were done in the museum we checked out the gift shop. It’s got a lot of cool stuff.

Jon Woodman

Wonderful museum with friendly knowledgeable staff. Great for kids!

We found this to be an interesting stop, and worth a visit. This museum is very visible from the highway, but we had trouble finding the exact spot to turn in. Perhaps needs a sign out by the road? Despite it being a slower day for them when we were there, they still did some demonstrations for us, which we appreciated. Very friendly staff. Loved the gift shop here!

Great museum. It does a really good job in leading you through the ages of industrialization, all the way to the current computerized times. Unfortunately due to Covid some of the hands on exhibits were unavailable but overall a good time for any age. Only shocking part was the Apple computer as I actually used that many moons ago. Guess I may be museum ready too. Finally the store has great options for gifts.

A bit of a hidden gem. I love this museum. A lot of really great exhibits and information. I do have to say the last area with the tech kiosks could use an updating, but I know that costs money, so I don't deduct any stars for that. The place is clean and the staff are kind. The displays rock. This is 100 times better than the discovery centre in Halifax.
