...And LaHave! Pleasant experiences in a beautiful, broad riverine and estuary environment with a rich history. LaHave itself is a wondrous small-town experience. Explore the lovely, lively "Main Street" downtown -- especially the collectively-run bookstore -- and take in one of the world-class talks or readings by visiting authors and artists. After feasting at one of the locals' favorite hometown restaurants, be sure to board the small ferry that takes you across the sound in 15 minutes, where you can buy fresh lobster, crabs, and other seafood treats at the little shop on the bay operated by the sage fisherman and his daughter who actually catch and collect the fresh fare themselves. LaHave has what it takes!

It speaks of a lot about the history of the Acadians and Mikmaks, we were unable to enter the lighthouse as it is still under renovation but overall there is a lot knowledge about the area to be gained here.. The museum is also close to the La Have bakery, beaches and vineyard.

This is a great little museum with lots of interesting items. We stopped here for a picnic during our visit to crescent Beach and it was perfect with the outdoor picnic tables. We went inside the museum and were very pleasantly surprised by the diverse collection of items. A must stop if you are in the area!

View of the water was ok, but it was closed for the season. A local told us the museum wasn't that sick...

My wife and I found this museum to be very interesting. It is small but they have a lot of information about the fort and the surrounding area. The volunteer on duty that day, Liam, was very knowledgeable and helpful.

A must stop for early history of the LaHave. Many artifacts and maps on display. Bring a snack and watch the yachts and motor boats exit the LaHave river mouth.

Only site to represent the earliest French settlers in Canada: les Acadiens. Great info and artifacts. Opens for the season on June 1 and closes September 1 each year.

The Fort Point Museum is a great little community museum. Lots of interesting artifacts and displays. The history of this location goes back 400 years, so there are lots of stories to tell. Unfortunately, it is only open for three months a year. The outdoor site, however, is open year round. It is a great place to go for a walk, the grounds are lovely. During lobster season, end of November to end of May, you may spot a working lobster boat.

While it isn't a huge place, the view on a nice day and the small museum is packed with things to see. You can also take a nice walk along the shoreline as well. Everyone in my family was pleasantly surprised by how nice and interesting it turned out to be. The staff were also very friendly and well versed in the history of the place. Wish we'd had more time there.

One of the oldest historical sites in Canada this is the place where Champlain landed to name "La Havre" or the harbour, which is the source of the present name Lahave.
