We offer you all the feddbacks of people like you who are consuming the services and products of Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (Museum) in Northwest Territories (Canada).
Nowadays the firm gets a score of 4.6 stars over 5 and the score is based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, it has an average rating is virtually the top, and it's founded on a very large number of scores, so we may say that the assessment is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Museum is classified in the category of Heritage museum.
Very good food.
Very insightful and educational exhibit. It is donation based making public access to it easy. My only complaint was how the topic of residential schools was glossed over with this panel (shown). The motive of this exhibit is to display indigenous life, culture, and history in this region. This cannot be accomplished without acknowledging the destructive impact of residential schools on these people. Many visitors to Canada do not know our dark history and I hope that one day it will become easily accessible public information.
Definitely worth the stop if you're visiting Yellowknife. A great exhibition of art and culture of Northern Canada. Staff are eager to answer any questions.
The museum had some nice exhibits and friendly staff. A good place to start with your visit to Yellowknife.
They have tours available, but also can be self guided. There is a cafe upstairs, and also five exhibitions. Interactive audio and videos. Wheel chair accessible, washroom on site 1st floor by kids play room
Love the exhibits
Living history at its best. Free entry, great ambience.
(Translated) Yellowknife's history, natural environment and animals are described in detail. I just entered the idea of taking a look around, and the pictures, pictures, sculptures, videos, and various exhibits were interesting and fun. (The rabbit is hiding where the polar bear is located.)
Very interesting. Lots to see and read about. Well worth a couple hours of visit
Exciting place
Lots of great exhibits about the history and peoples of the North

Good museum for activities with the kids or as a tourist.
Interesting diaramas and artifacts. The natives and first settlers must have been incredibly robust. There is also a very good restaurant, much more than coffee and donuts.
Excellent exhibits; free; cafe upstairs.
must visit place in Yellowknife!!
Good n interesting videos to watch
Our guy Jean was fantastic. As an archaeologist he did a great job guiding our group around and was well informed on everything in the museum.
Super interesting Museum and Cultural Center! Our guide was absolutely fantastic, he was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There's a whole range of really well curated exhibits here. There are sections on the history of the area, the geopolitical importance of the location, the various types of wildlife, and a section for art exhibited by locals. There is also a great cafe in the building as well as document archives. Absolutely a must see if you're visiting Yellowknife!
A good place to see history of Yellowknife.

Awesome place. Cool things to see. I love how it's free :)
Great all around! Admission is by donation. They have a good amount of art and displays, and for thr young ones - a play area!
High quality displays that are well presented and with good explanations. Lots of diversity of artifacts and nicely broken into regions showing all the various indigenous peoples and their history and cultures. Most interesting stuff to learn on fossils found a 13,000 years old. Love hate relationship revealed between capitalism and the environment. Well worth visiting. Allow 3 hours to get a good visit and not be rushed.
Engaging and interesting exhibitions about life in the north, creative play zones for children and friendly abd knowledgeable staff.
Very courteous front desk! Loved him for making us feel so welcomed. Nice and kids friendly museum with ample of history and details :) Must go while you are in town
Unique and interesting exhibition. Walkable from Yellowknife downtown.
(Translated) It's not big but it is well maintained and the painting exhibition is especially impressive (Original)

Great place! I like it and emjoy every visit
????Free, donations accepted. ♿Yes. ———- The staff are wonderful, will help out with any questions you may have. If it’s your first time, they’ll give you a quick overview of the levels/rooms within the museum. They host both permanent and temporary exhibitions, educating you about the indigenous history and community. It also gives details on the economy, geography and animals surrounding the NWT
We went to the museum to jump start our visit to Yellowknife. We were so please with all the history packed in this 2 stories building, that we made a point to come back on a different day to finish our tour. To complete the visit,we sat at the cafe to take it all in! Great menu, friendly service. Many thanks to the tour guide. Glad we made it part of our visit to Yellowknife.
Very patient and friendly staff, learned lots about indigenous people’s way of life. Wish to see more about the development/history of YK itself
Must to visit place who is first time to yellowknife! Sombe k'e park and city hall are near!
Nice place to visit learn the environment in NWT. Easy to access from downtown.
It's the best museum I've ever been in. I've been back three times and find new things every time.
A wonderful museum showcasing the natural and human history of the region. Displays were well maintained with informative labeling. For those with kids, there is a kids area with mock snow-mobile and fishing boat. Best of all, it's FREE to enter! Highly recommend.
A fantastic gathering of knowledge and displays. It's a MUST SEE when in Yellowknife to better understand pre and post contact periods.
Well laid out and comprehensive. I found myself wishing I had more time to explore.
It may not be the biggest or most mind-blowing museum, but for a city of under 20,000 hours from anywhere, this place shocked me with just how good it is. Exhibits were all high quality and comprehensive as it told the sort of humanity in the Northwest, natives and Europeans alike. Would highly recommend to anyone coming to Yellowknife!
One of the former staff did an informal tour for us, as our uncle built most of the cases in the museum.
So much to learn and see. Loved it!
Wonderful musium, very informative and fun for a free musium.
Cool
Excellent
(Translated) The collection of things in the interior is complete, and visitors have a deeper understanding of the development history of Huangdao Town. The museum also designed a small questionnaire for visiting the prizes, which increased the interest of more detailed visits and took a good place to stay for 1.5~2 hours.
This was an excellent stop while on my photo tour of Yellowknife. I had bookmarked it as a possible place to visit but had not decided until driving around the city. The parking was plentiful, and free. The building was well located close enough to the main city area to be easily accessible. There are several "departments" within the facility that contain all sorts of historical and informative facts about Yellowknife and Canada in general. I'll be back if I'm in the area again.
Really good museum.Takes about 2 hours to tour
Enjoyable visit. Lots of information on the area and it’s history. Both of the Aboriginals as well as the European settlers. This is certainly worth visiting while on your trip to Yellowknife. The staff were very helpful and seemed to really enjoy their work.
Very informative of the Northern culture and nice structure.
Friendly staff
Great displays and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
A small museum that is beautifully curated. A pleasure to see what this community has put together.
It was beautiful the info desk guy was excellent very welcoming and told me where and what the exhibit were
(Translated) On the first floor of this cultural museum, there are many exhibition areas that introduce the animals and history of Yellowknife Town, and provide a play area for children to play. I've always loved the museum seriously my favorite reading the information abou the items .
A fantastic experience. Great displays and explanations. Very engaging and entertaining! Don't forget to leave a donation ~
Lovely and friendly! You can quickly understand about history!
Great ! Worth the time...
Nice museum for visitors to learn a little bit about the local culture, though its small size means you probably won't be spending more than an hour or two at most here.
If you're looking for a 'quick' activity I would highly recommend coming to this museum. It was very informative of the history and traditions of NWT and supplied a lot of artifacts! It took me about an hour to walk around at my own pace - If there was one complaint it would be that it's too small and should expand! The staff were very friendly and helpful when I asked questions and the exhibits were lovely. Would come back again!
A definite must see in Yellowknife. Been to this place many times over the years and it always changes in the best ways. Nice to see a picture of family in there.
This is a must-see if you're in Yellowknife!
Security staff are friendly and helpful, and whole area is clean and comfortable. People can learn many knowledge from here.
Lovely little museum on the edge of the lake. Great way to learn about the local history
Came here for the exhibits, and also hit up the restaurant. Both were amazing! So much to see including aboriginal and natural history, and the food was great.
Great museum! Very well laid out with very interesting exhibits!
Great experience!
This is a great centre, with wonderful exhibits. The food is also very good, but be prepared to wait, it is not very fast. Ordering in advance helps.
A must if you're only in Yellowknife for a short while. It is a well arranged museum for its size and does a great job at exposing tourists to the long, rich heritage of the north!
Heckuva museum. Exhibits are well-organized and effectively designed. My favourite part was the small exhibit on the impact of WWI on the North.
Free to visit (accepting donations).
This is a great museum for everything northern. The displays are fantastic and have good write ups and stories. If you are looking to learn more about the northern way of life then this is a great starting place.
Lovely museum devoted to this region. Not too big but just right to spend 2 hours to understand this Northwestern territories history, landscape, culture and integration with Canadian government. Also explains the animals and lifestyle of the indigenous people in this artic region.
The museum has put lots efforts to create and maintain these vivid stuff. Great to visit here.
(Translated) Great museums Learn a lot about history and animals! (Original)
The kids love going here to see the displays and play in the kids area. The addition of the hockey game is a huge hit with our kids.
Wonderful place, impeccably managed! Really my compliments for everything, very interesting place that speaks of the history of this rich city and its interesting civilizations! It is mandatory to visit it, and in addition it is free!
Great museum with lots of interesting exhibits about the history and culture of the area. Has a treasure hunt activity for the kids.
This is a wonderful museum. The staff a very friendly, and there's an atmosphere that reminds me of my childhood visits here. The exhibits are interesting and kid friendly. The restaurant located upstairs is the most underrated spots to eat in town. Definitely worth a visit!
Introduce NWT and the history of first national in detail
Very cute museum. It's not super big, but it is quite beautiful and modern. I didn't know they had tours, but walked in just as one started on a Friday. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Got to learn about the natives and how they survived, the types of stones and elements found here, the types of animals in the north, and a few other interesting facts. It's all free, and certainly worth the trip.
It's a nice place to know some Arctic Culture.
(Translated) The museums that must be visited, the introduction of Aboriginal culture, statues, and animal introductions, it is recommended to spend a long time, you will gain a lot.
It's ok. Nice area for (small) kids to play
An astounding display of northern life.
Really informative museum, and we spent way too little time here.
Great exhibits and very interesting history of the local peoples.
Love it
My wife and I amazed by the lively animal speciman here, a must go on yellowknife
Extremely neat and well organized museum. It will introduct you into the history and the reality of this rugged country, moulded by the original people and Europeans.
No Yellowknife trip is complete without going to the Museum. Come learn about our land, people, and rich, rugged history. Touch some Polar Bear fur! Appreciate the North! They've done a lot of upgrades recently, it's definitely worth a day, and the café inside serves great food!
Great museum! It's very informative of the NWT history and wildlife education. It took us an hour to walk through the whole museum. Great place to spend time here during the day!
Great museum that's always updating their exhibits.
Great rcmp exhibit
Great museum. Very interesting exhibits that are beautifully displayed.
Great spot!

Very nice museum. A lot to see about local populations and history
(Translated) Yellowknife ~ It's worth a look. ???? (Original) ????
lots to learn
Kids.loved it
Great northern museum. Lots of displays
Covers a bit of geological, anthropological and cultural aspects of a large swath of Canada's North (not just Yellowknife area). It's a large bite, necessarily restricted, and reasonably done. Engaging sections for all ages and a variety of interests. Very family-friendly. Includes free parking, washrooms, coat alcove, and a very nice cafe. There is no gift shop / book shop. Admission is free, but they have a low-key solicitation for donations. Plan for perhaps 2 hours (up to 4 hours if you really want to savour every tidbit).
This museum on Frame Lake is very interesting, and I always enjoy my time there. The exhibits are well maintained, and they are adding things all time to the museum. I would like if there were people available in the exhibits to talk to you more in depth the different subjects.
The staff were really knowledgeable and gave us a lot of interesting information of NWT. Time well spent!
Loved it! Very interesting and educational
Very impressive museum. Had an afternoon in Yellowkinife while transiting from a fishing adventure. Found the displays to be professional in presentation and a great way to gain a deeper understanding of the culture and history of the area. Well worth the time when visiting the area.
friendly staff
Lovely informative museum covering a variety of northern topics from geology to wildlife to culture that gave our group a chance to focus their attention on what interested them most. I enjoyed the scavenger hunt and loved the art, craft, and photography.
Very nice place to visit. Lots of information.
Nice museum for visitors to learn a little bit about the local culture, though its small size means you probably won't be spending more than an hour or two at most here.
A very good museum that helps you learn about the arts, culture and history of the Northwest Territories. Free too!
Learn local history about Yellowknife! Bring the kids!
Worth the visit. Great exhibits on NWT wildlife and history, as well as great art displays.
Amazing place to learn about Yellowknife history and information.
The museum has finished some new renovations, and the Cafe is one of the best restaurants in town!
The only museum in Yellowknife
Great place to visit.
Enjoy Wildlife museum, winter wonderland, the perfect ending with one latte + 365begin nut bar
In the territory with the most boring name ever. The northwest territories.
Currently free due to COVID. Good displays on the history of NWT. A great stop for families.
Best museum in the north west Territories. The subject matter is moderately interesting. Worth a visit. Should take you about 2 and a half hours.
A fantastic piece of history to help visitors learn and have a candid view into the NWT
Great exhibitions! We've learnt a lot about northern communities.
Well displayed and a kind staff.
Nive little museam, free entrance. Must see place in yellowknife.
Interesting info about area and the people
Loved Landan Peters' art !
Good place to visit!
This is a nice museum that does a good job of explaining the basics of the history of the Northwest Territories while centering the First Nations perspective. However, the history is definitely portrayed in a diplomatic manner, giving a nostalgic air to the past rather than framing things in a critical manner illuminating current social and political issues of northern Canada. You definitely need to talk to locals if you want a full understanding of northern issues. There is a nice interactive display about the Aurora and several beautiful beadwork art displays. There is a cafe too, but it was closed when we visited.
Excellent museum that showcases the extensive history of the NWT. A must if you happen to visit Yellowknife.
My sister and I had a wonderful visit at this museum. A lot of information about the history of the town and of the peoples in the north. If you are visiting in the cooler months, it is a good place to warm up. The security guard was very friendly and shared some information about the area. Talking with him was a highlight of our visit here. He recommended the restaurant and we stayed there for lunch. The food was very delicious!
Good for Yellowknife
Nice Place to Visit. Easy, Interactive, and Informative Displays. Free, but Donations are Suggested, Good Suggestion. Parking is Pretty Good, and Knowledge is King. Happy to Have Come Here.
Great chef. Get food. Not expect to find such great quality food in yellowknife.
Nice staff and nice place. Exhibits are a bit boring and political.
Beautiful museum nestled in the province of the northwest territory of Canada. Place nestled in the capital of the province, Yellowknife that reflects the ecosystem and the natural environment in which these animals develop and live. As well as the inhabitants of this inhospitable place of the earth. This museum is an unforgettable experience.
We enjoyed our visit to the museum, especially a chance to share a bit more about my kids northern heritage as great-grandchildren of Sam Otto.
Very nice museum about northern culture and First Nations history and culture.
Very informative and comfortable.
(Translated) We visited the city for free on the afternoon of the second day of stay at Yellowknife. (Translated) Yellowknife Museum. You can see the history of hunting, it is well decorated.
Nice museum. Almost all exhibits are on local subjects
Wonderful place to gain knowledge of the North.
11/8 heckin yes will go again for family funtimes
It's a great place to spend a few hours..
Very good and informative
Great place to go if you are visiting Yellowknife! The staff are super helpful, and the exhibits are well done. They also have a tourist information booth where you can get a free Yellowknife pin.
Stories about the Yellowknife in here. Friendly staffs who always willing to tell more than the exhibitions.
Fun spot to spend the afternoon and learn a lot about northern history and culture. Admission is free, but if you can drop a donation in the bin before you leave. They have few different permanent exhibits on different aspects/regions of the north and there seemed to be at least two different exhibit spaces that get changed out regularly. If you want to learn more about the history and culture of northern Canada definitely check it out.
An excellent place to examine and wander, for a day, or two.
Very well done ! Depicts the north peoples and the early white people's arivl.
(Translated) The history of the natural and cultural development of the Northwest Territories is worth seeing. (Original)
Could learn more about nature and culture of yellowknife. The experience zone for children was also great. Worthy place to donate!
(Translated) Unexpectedly, the small museum has a lot of interesting things to see, especially the animal specimens they make are quite vivid, better than the specimens in many national museums (Original)
I'll be honest - I did not expect a museum of the caliber in Yellowknife. Admission is free of charge. There are both permanent and temporary exhibits, all relating to the life in and heritage of the North. Be sure to take a couple hours out of your day to visit!
Very well done.
Good
(Translated) You can see the history of Yellowknife and the lives of the Indians. Unlike the United States, new immigrants (white people) were also impressed by the process of pioneering land together without killing indigenous people. I was personally happy that the "WE", the subject of the Yellowknife pavilion's photos and explanations, was Indian. Anyway, Yellowknife is where indigenous people lived. There are also many other animals inhabited by Yellowknife. It is a very high quality exhibition hall, so I recommend you to stop by.
Learn a bit
Great free museum. Well worth the visit.
Really neat exhibits, and great value, I mean it’s free??? I’ve never seen so much indigenous culture represented all in one place and in a way that isn’t just historical but shows ways of life still practiced in northern Canada! A great learning experience for me.
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YELLOWKNIFE, YOU SHOULD COME HERE
Excellent history of the Northwest Territories including stories from indigenous peoples
Fascinating insight into history and development of the territories, the skill and importance of the indigenous peoples and the flora and fauna found there. Go to learn, enjoy a coffee while waiting to go out at night for the aurora.
Is a great place with lots of good displays .
What a wonderful way to spend your day going to the museum. Nice modern building with lots of displays and exhibits
This museum is excellent! Loved the exhibit about the Dene people, very engaging and informative. Also, the restaurant (only serves lunch) is really good, fish was the best.
Good exhibition
Lots of detailed props with great information on the Dene culture
(Translated) The museum displays a variety of wildlife specimens, ore specimens, historical relics, and slowly browsing for more than half a day is absolutely no problem. (Translated) As a leading city of Northwest Territories, it is a good museum showing its history and environment. Through the model and the real thing, it becomes easy to understand. The stuffed animals and the ecology of the animals in this area are well explained, so if you want to see them carefully, you will see them for more than an hour. There is also a children's playroom. Excellent place to learn about northern heritage.
Beautiful exhibits, fantastic area for kids. Extremely informative. Staff are also really friendly.
Good displays, interesting history/geography. Free entrance.
For it's size and location this museum is very impressive. Exhibits are pretty comprehensive on life in the North West Territories, and include both indigenous groups and settlers from outside. The dioramas in the galleries are very detailed and informative. It's not too big so only will take you an hour or two, but well worth your time in Yellowknife!
It's free, and it's worth to visit! May take 1.5 hour stay, good choice for waiting the night.
(Translated) If you come to Yellowknife, I recommend visiting here. The admission fee is free, but the contents are so rich that you might think that you may pay. Great museum with even better cafe!
Great place for locals and visitors to learn about Yellowknife and The North. Bring your kids to enjoy the children's area and other exhibits along the way!

Great museum and restaurant fantastic
Great way to spend afternoon with my brother and sister.
Fantastic place! Payment by donation. Scavenger hunt for kids with prize at end. Good videos, and well explained information. Good information on the Dene. Staff were friendly and helpful. Picnic table out front is a good place for a snack. Bathrooms clean. Lots of good other photos. I've added a picture from the kids' area. Lots of kids spent hours in this small area throwing fish around from traditional trapper house and using some of the puppet animals to put on plays for others.
Excellent museum
Best
Great exhibits that really bring the history and natural environment of the north to life. There is a fun play place for kids and excellent programming.
Very informative and educational
Excellent exhibits and staff. Very educational about the northwest territories.
Nice exhibits, friendly staff, nice children play area

Excellent... wow!
This museum showcases the tradition and culture of the Inuits. I am fascinated how they intricately preserve those carvings, old metal scraps up to the wild animals. Very educational!
Really awesome place. Beautiful building. Amazing and informative exhibits. Easily accessible with manual wheelchair.
The museum is free admission. It is very nice, lots of displays and very clean and well maintained

A must-see for visitors to the area - especially those new to the north. The displays are high quality and the museum is very well laid out.
Such a beautiful place
This is a highlight of my trip to Yellowknife
Loveee it .
Nice displays and very informative exhibitions. I was intrigued by the history, culture, and wildlife exhibits here while I was visiting Yellowknife. Would love to see expansions to the centre! Will definitely return.
Great museum, you really learn alot about NWT, its history, culture etc. A must visit if you are visiting Yellowknife! Very friendly staff too!
Very good interpretive center about regional history. Is also a trailhead for Frame Lake.
Small but it is well managed.
Lunch at the museum, great food, great service
It's not the museum it used to be. Instead of displaying general history of the NWT like it used to it has greatly narrowed its focus to native people and their superstitions. We were very disappointed that much of the previous history is gone from this museum. Not a peep about the Franklin expedition!! There's more on that at the Cambridge Bay Airport! Nothing about the early explorers, early or current aviation or mining and the tragedies and challenges.... just native stuff and their superstition. We would never go back here again. So disappointed!!
Loved it here! a must go if you're in yellow knife
Good
Terrific museum.
Lots of things about Yellowknife.
(Translated) Was it built for the preservation of the Indian culture that is disappearing as the Yellow Knife was developed? As much as I came here and enjoyed it, I hope that if you want to know more here as I love this place, please go to see it once.
Awesome. Very professionally presented.
Thoroughly enjoy the amount of historical information about Yellowknife, mining, the Yellowknives Dene, current wildlife and prehistoric wildlife, RCMP in the north. I especially enjoy the Discovery Gallery (I may have that name wrong) where kids can play in a McPherson tent, log cabin, or tipi, and dress up as animals and play with stuffed animals.
Understand the history of the museum.
(Translated) It's free and this quality is hard to find. If you go sightseeing in Aurora and strolling downtown and old town, there is not much else to do, so this museum is quite enjoyable. It is also GOOD that you can understand the history of Yellowknife.
Always a great place to learn northern history. Also very child friendly. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
Amazing lunch upstairs in the museum
Great information.
