So fun to see what was in the museum. Enjoyed it a lot. The volunteer was great answering our questions and letting us explore, to our satisfaction.

Vancouver's oldest building that still exists. The building is current a small, but super cozy museum which is full of items that tell Vancouver’s history to its visitors. As a bonus, the view of the Bay is awesome!

Attempted to visit today around 2.30pm but door was locked despite sign pointing to it saying open. I tried knocking twice also, no answer. I didn’t feel it was appropriate to knock on the caretaker’s door so unfortunately I wasn’t able to access inside which was very disappointing. Building is in a beautiful setting and I did manage to get some lovely photos of the outside. In response to your reply, I did visit on July 31. I tried the door twice but couldn’t get it to budge. Unfortunately I live in London, UK so won’t be able to return as was just here on holiday, nonetheless thanks for your offer to show me round another time.

A really interesting museum with lots of artefacts inside from Vancouver and it's past. Well worth a visit.

Interesting piece of history that survived the great fire and was "floated" to this location from Gastown. Sadly open hours are really few and far between.

This is a little place with lots of history. Great for a short visit when going to Jericho beach area. There is currently a fashion exhibit from fashion historian Ivan Sayers on the second floor not to be missed. Please check the website for hours to visit regarding Covid19.

Don’t miss this attraction wether you live here or is just visiting. This is the oldest building in Vancouver, survived the great fire of 1886. The original location is not this one, it was assembled here years ago (around 1930’s if I am not wrong). In any case, go there to visit and learn. Beautiful bike ride all around in case do you want to go by bicycle.

This old museum contains many old lovely artifacts and is a great place to stop when when you're walking along Jericho Beach and nearby paths. I would highly recommend taking a look inside this old building. It's great to still have such an old building in Vancouver standing.

Wow... What a great find. Walking around today we stumbled across this cool looking old building with a "Museum" sign above the door. What an amazing collection of artifacts and photos. Well worth the effort to go and visit. If you like Vancouver history and want to see some neat stuff, go have a look.

I visited this museum because I was riding by on my rental bicycle. Its a tiny little place - the oldest building in Vancouver if I remember correctly. The woman working there was so friendly and full of facts. I liked the woven baskets, fish skin boots and the drawings in the old magazines for women. I was just there for a short visit, its in a nice neighborhood and I recommend checking it out!

Ed Cerno

Nice view of the mountains and harbour

Ryan Fletcher

Great museums and friendly staff and amazing history

As a local, born 'n raised, and living only 3 blocks away, it's difficult to be 100% objective. That said, whenever visitors, guests, or relatives from out-of-town, USA/CANADA, or overseas are taken for my little walking/cycling tours - well, the biggest "no brainer" is to march straight down the street to visit this modest, 'no-nothing', 'blink-of-an-eye', curiosity. What's a better way to start a tour of this city than to begin, not so much where the city began exactly, but at the oldest survivor (1865)! She doesn't look like much. You could easily snub her and give her a pass by. But don't! She's in a completely different spot from whence she began ( the North foot of Main Street@ Gore just east of Gastown, or the Village of Granville, way before the name 'Vancouver' was even considered). In 1930, she was lovingly barged to her current situation by "The Daughters of The British Empire" - now, "Daughters of British Columbia" The hours are frustratinly limited, but check her out! very informative!

Don't miss out on a great opportunity to learn about Vancouver's great history at the Old Hastings Mill Museum. One of the oldest buildings in Vancouver, you'll find out more about Vancouver's past, like the Great Fire, and the wooden chair that saved a life by keeping someone afloat during the fire. A very nice museum that many don't know about unless you look for it. After going to the museum, go around the neighbourhood and admire the view from here. Cycle around the area all the way to Jericho Beach down to Spanish Banks. You'll rediscover Vancouver here!

Great history inside

Great little building, oldest in Vancouver. Hidden history

Lots of neat exhibits great place.

bob sump

too small and too sumpy.

Eric Napier Strong

Lovely old building with an interesting history and some great artifacts, but the museum is badly in need of refreshing. The displays are very cluttered, and the labels for some Indigenous artifacts are at best culturally insensitive/at worst extremely offensive (EG: "Squaw's moccassins").

Harwood

Excellent place to learn about the history of Vancouver. Needs a better sign near the road.

It's quaint, can't beat the location, and a nice place to drop in if you are taking kids to the adjacent park/beach. I like that admission is by donation. It's not a typical museum, more like a mini museum, as it fits in one floor of Vancouver's oldest building. It's a nice place to visit if you happen to be in Vancouver, but I wouldn't visit Vancouver just to go there.

joe kiem

Love this place

A small museum, but full of items dating back from the early days of Vancouver. There is no fixed visiting fee, people can pay whatever they want. And I liked the museum's location as well, a nice place by the coast. Definitely worth the visit.
