Serge Fjetland

Amazing gallery of the history of Chinese Canadians. Loved the VR displays, and the art.

Manuel Lam

Must-see museum in Chinatown that tells stories about Chinese Canadians. Dedicate at least an hour for your visit to watch all the different videos, check out artifacts, and use their VR displays.

They are hoping to build a full sized museum and should be supported.

As I was walking on Pender Street yesterday, I was graciously invited to the current exhibition which I found informative & illuminating. I was so pleased to be invited to understand the history of the struggle of the Chinese community against immense odds in establishing a legitimate place in Canadian society. Thank you!

Steven Smethurst

An extraordinary place to visit in Chinatown, the exhibition has many amazing stories about individual Chinese Canadians

The museum was quite small, but made use of modern technology (TVs, audio, VR headset, etc.) to share stories of a vibrant past. No entry fee, just walk right in and absorb the history of determination, discrimination, and deterioration.

Kirk Chantraine

Really well curated and presented selection of contemporary art!

Cypriine

Lovely experience with the exhibition helpers, calligraphy, and tidbits of the Chinese Canadian story. I especially appreciated the spotlight on queer Chinese Canadian stories as it wasn't something I expected to see.

Popped in this afternoon and thought I could whizz round before it closed, how wrong I was! So many interesting stories and interactive pieces to this great exhibition which encourages you to leave a bit about yourself behind to create a new history. Reservations are advised due to capacity limit, I heard people being turned away. Thank you to Patrick who guided me through a VR experience and patiently explained each scene. I will be back to finish the rest :)

It is a temporary exhibition of Chinese immigration and British Columbia now. They call it A Seat at the Table. The museum opens only on Fri/Sat/Sun from 10am to 4 pm. I am sure you can see something interesting there, BUT not much. How about showing more exhibits of the life from the early Chinese immigrants? May be a small souvenir shop will help too.

Enjoyed the museum friendly staff Winnie with it explaination of the museum and its protocols. I had to say its the most amazing "asian" museum i have attended. Love its work installation, curating the exhibit and its lay out of the safety protocols. Bonus: Great place to Volunteer ( Museum Guide ). Loving it myself!
