knowledgeable staff and great tour. You even get to try your hand at using a printing press.

Joe Dias

Really learner a lot, and the guide was passionate about the period and history of printing. Setting our own type and learning about the printing process before digital camera allowed for a great experience

Docent-led review of printing history and technology is very interesting. Now that digital printing is taken-for-granted, you have to see these machines to appreciate the effort that used to be required to get the word out.

shokoofe moeini

If you are interested in the press, I'm sure have an interesting time in this little museum. You can see collection of traditional print machines.

Loved this place. Not very big but the guides are very thorough and explained everything. Just below the Brock monument and near the Laura Secord house you can easily do these 3 historic sites in one swoop. You even get to take home a souvenir made with an historic printing press! Recommended for all ages.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history in his presentation. There were a few children on the tour who were very excited about printing their names out and he was very patient with them. If you like history and/ or media communication, I recommend it!

Not a very big place to see but is amazing to see how news papers where made back in the days before computers or even typewriters.

Well worth the money for the very informative tour, plus you get some souvenirs, too!

We weren't sure about going here at first but we thought we'd drag the kids to at least one historical site. Guided tour was not only about the local history, but printing and newspapers. We got to learn how to set type, then helped operate an old time press for a one of a kind souvenir. This is a MUST visit when in the area!

This small museum gives you a chance for a hands-on look at printing from the 1700s and 1800s. You will gain an appreciation of how much work went into a single page!

This is a very interesting museum. I strongly advise opting for a docent directed tour (no additional charge) versus poking around on your own. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to share.

Clark H

Great place to learn about William Mackenzie, his political views, and his letterpress printing business. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the period of time Mackenzie, as well as, of course, Mackenzie himself. There is a hands-on demonstration as well, where everyone gets to set type and see it printed!

muhammad shahzad

Nice historical location

Elena was a fabulous docent/guide through this fascinating little historic gem. Mackenzie's history amd the history of printing technology made seemless fun for wufe and me. Kids will enjoy the hands on demos of the presses. MUST SEE.

Mark Woodley

Another place we've driven by while in historically rich Niagara-on-the-Lake many times and finally managed our time better to visit. Home of an 18th Century wooden press! A rarity indeed and this one was used to print anti-slavery laws in 1793. Housed in the former home of politician (first mayor of Toronto) and publisher William Lyon Mackenzie in Upper Canada (Ontario). The museum features printing workshops, demonstrations and events throughout the year and contains over 500 years of printing technology. Small admission charge.

Faith Bell

Great tour! Good for families too!

My fiance called this the highlight of our 2-day Niagara Falls trip. It's a small, almost hidden museum with very fascinating, hands-on history. For a ~$6 entrance fee, you get a few self-printed paper souvenirs, the opportunity to see/touch printing materials from the late 1800s, and a 45-minute guided tour (timing is flexible). You learn about a pivotal time in Canadian history and learn about how early newspaper printing has changed over the years. The information was well-presented, with a good amount of details (not too overwhelming and not too watered-down). If you're driving down Niagara Parkway, it's a convenient midpoint between Niagara Falls and the pretty historical town by Lake Ontario.

What a great little place! We thought our group of 9 to 12 year olds would be bored, but the friendly staff gives a fun tour of the printing presses, which the kids found fascinating. Definitely worth a stop!

Kari Candelora

Not just another old printery. Interesting presentation about Mackenzie and his impact on Canada's Independence from England.

Charlene Gillam

If you like printing history, this is the place for you. Very knowledgeable staff and you get hands on experience with a couple of the presses!

Aaron Corey

Elias Leon-Ruiz

Well, finally I understand why we talk about lower case and upper case letters. And why we 'cut to the chase'. A pity there was not staff for a tour, but it is a really interesting place.

Sarah Mason

Small but amazingly informative museum! A must-see!
