Happened upon this gem driving from Bonavista to St. John’s and decided to take the tour so glad we did! It was truly fascinating to learn about the rich history and to see the beautifully restored buildings and equipment. Well worth your time!

Historically significant

Bruce Stearman

A little known Union hero for fishermen in Newfoundland where the fish buyers ran the stores and made sure the fishermen could never get ahead. William Coaker helped change that.

Lynn Taylor

Such an interesting historical site to visit within a small town that is full of innovation and friendship. I have spent 3 weeks in residency here and still have not seen everything. The Adovacate Press has been a delight.

Love the history and how the town was formed. Starting from next to nothing and follow vision that transformed into a functional town. From the power station to fish plant all inspired a union town. Peaceful and calming town. Must visit if you ask. Town is being restored to its natural glory.

This place was fantastic, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and especially informative. This made it a very welcoming and informative atmosphere. The buildings themselves were almost completely intact and coakers house is magnificent. I would highly recommend visiting and starting at the small museum where the lady will give you a short but complete history of the entire site.

Port Union is a unique experience. Folks here are knowledgeable about the history and love sharing it. Very friendly, had a great tour. It's interesting to see why and how unions began by caring for the well being of the workers.

Dave Roberts

Did not visit museum but was an interesting site. Lower Cambrian fossils on rock at base of steps on board walk. Picnic tables. Ruined workers houses up the hill above the main street.
