Very nice that this important piece of history is remembered. The displays are a bit dry for the average visitor. Fascinating if you like the history of communications.

This historical museum is a good starting place to learn about telecommunication history and how it incorporated in our Canadian history. Totally worth the detour. Staff is nice, friendly and but don't expect them to be knowledgeable in those artifacts in the museum.

It would have been nice if it was open! Very poor job of publishing seasonal closures on their website.

David Brake

More interesting than you might think even for a non-engineer. A thoughtful bit of gender and class analysis scattered throughout...

Really interesting to see the history of trans-atlantic cable communication here. The displays were a little short on explanation of what the equipment did.

RobertandKristin Breen

Loved the museum and wonderful short informative video.

Vincent Cléroux

(Translated) Very well!! It's so impressive! The video in the room at the beginning is very complete, but it lacks some information about the plates in the museum. (Original) Très bien!! C’est tellement impressionnant! Le vidéo dans la salle au début est très complet, mais il manque un peu d’informations sur les plaques dans le musée.

Ken Butt

A well run and informative museum. You'll learn all about the first transatlantic cable location and operations. The original cables can still be seen.

Transatlantic cables came ashore here - you can still see them come out the Atlantic, cross under the road, into this building. Telegraph news & business North America to England became 5 minutes rather than 6 days. Displays could be made interactive & more interesting, needs a curator with ideas.

Sheila Green

Beautiful shop with handmade gifts/crafts. My Grandmother once sold her knitting here, mittens and socks. It was wonderful and a nice view of the ocean is a bonus!

Jon Becker (OTIS)

It was an amazing experience to see how telecommunications across the world became connected in the past. Heart's Content was certainly a great telegraph hub between Newfoundland, Valentia Ireland and New York! Walking through the facility is like a peek into the past to a time before zoom, skype and facebook among others.

Its in hearts content, what could be better.

Unfortunately it was closed at the time we were through I'm sure as it is as jammed pack full of history and amazing stories as many of the other areas we had the privilege to visit.

This building is truly amazing. Besides all of the incredible tech for that era in a small NL community, other bright points were the amazing pool table in the rest area for the employees and the fire door to the main room. It is hung on rails at an angle. It was held in place by an aluminum pin that would melt and let the door slide down in a fire. Loved it all. Staff are laid back, helpful, and well informed

Richard Weigand

A wonderful place to learn about the history of transatlantic communications and how the employees lived and worked. The bay is also a picturesque location of local fishing activities. A good restaurant is also in this town. A must see site.
