The New Media Gallery continually pushes the boundaries of art and technology, by highlighting meticulously crafted, world class exhibitions. Hats off to the curators who are incredibly friendly, and excited to show you these beautiful pieces of work.

This small and obscure gallery has some of the best international electronic and media arts in western Canada; plus lectures, workshops, and education. Truly outstanding.

An amazing international media gallery on the main street (Columbia) on New Westminster. International artists are carefully curated into themed shows. Helpful curators guide visitors on gallery tours to explain the works and the theme of the exhibit, but you can explore by yourself. I have visited several times and each exhibit is different and innovative. My favourite gallery in the Lower Mainland. I want to see every show twice. Oh, and admission is free of charge too -- even better. Close to the Skytrain transit. Pay parking below. Accessible by elevator.

A small gallery, the exhibits are always incredibly interesting, and the staff takes great joy explaining them. And for the price of free? Nice! Expect about a half hour in here. Combines well with the (also free) New West museum in the same building.

I can't remember what was actually in there the last time I went and it was open, but the space has a nice layout and it's in a great location. Check out the New Westminster museum too!

Some of the best gallery programming I’ve experienced. I return again and again for the fascinating exhibitions that combine science, technology, math and art. Expect to lose yourself in the often interactive exhibits that will keep you suspended in disbelief. Don’t miss the current show MirNs which features reinvented concepts around the idea of human reflections. In synopsis, you’ll be witnessing live machine learning, and biometrics at work. You’ll leave thinking about problematic improvements of surveillance technologies and the ever disappearing notion of privacy. Very clever use of Xbox Kinect as well!

Amazing little gallery with fantastically curated work. The exhibition we saw with various technological interpretations of mirrors was brilliant, and the woman who toured us around was fun and knowledgeable. Can't wait to see what they bring in next!

Went to see MirNr (closed Aug 1st 2021) and was impressed by many things beyond the phenomenal exhibit itself. First, the Anvil Center staff are kind, patient with frenzied guests who are worried they're too late (me), and just generally warm. Second, when I got the the New Media Gallery I was greeted by one of the curators who walked me through the exhibit and offered so many details about the context of both the show in that specific space and each piece itself. As an artist who deals with performance more than new media, I was so appreciative of the curators willingness and eagerness to explain what I was experiencing. I expect this is the case for their other shows. The nearby all gender washrooms were clean, accessible, and secure. The facility had clear demarcations as to their covid protocols, and overall I just had a lovely time. So worth the SkyTrain ride out.

The exhibits here are amazing! I wish it was bigger.

This might actually be the best gallery in the lower mainland. The exhibits are creative, thought-provoking, avant-garde, and sometimes even groundbreaking. The curator is often there to guide you through the exhibit, and staff is knowledgeable and kind. Oh, and it’s free. This place deserves wayy more attention than it gets.

Great place to stop by in New West with your friends and family...

The gallery is small but the quality of the work presented was beyond my expectations for what I would find tucked away in New West. The Curator happened to be in the gallery when I stopped by. They gave an incredibly informative and insightful look into the construction, process and artist behind each work. This is probably my favourite gallery in the GVRD.

The pieces were amazing! However the curator insisted on telling us what to think of each piece before we even had a chance to look at it, which took a lot away from the experience.

Just stumbled into the gallery while exploring Anvil Centre. The curator provides a introduction to the works. The pieces gave me a new appreciation of technology and made me consider the consequence of action. I do love art that opens the mind and induces thought. An excellent find!
