We've got the opinions of real people like you who know the services of The Chocolate Museum (Museum) in the area close to New Brunswick (Canada).
To this day this business gets a score of 4.3 out of 5 and this rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see its rating is quite high, and it's based on a very high number of reviews, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their review when they are pleased with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to write scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Museum is classified in the category of Local history museum.
Great time. Interesting story behind Ganong.
We were very disappointed. It was short and self guided.
This is such a great little piece of history! Definately. A MUST do!!!
A great Little outing in St Stephens even though the museum had more information about where chocolate comes from then actual details of the Ganong company itself. They give tours but honestly should just be self-guided as there’s really not much to look at since you stop to watch videos which are self explanatory. Younger kids got super bored at the end.
This is a wonderfully laid out museum with a great staff, and a sweet surprise at the end :).
Great place
We arrived at 4:30 pm USA time, turns out we were one hour behind as Canada is on Atlantic time. The chocolate store closed at 5 pm and the museum does not admit anyone after 5 pm so people have 30 minutes of time in the museum. It is a nice looking building and museum employee that came out to talk to us as we staired at the locked door was very nice and friendly.

Who doesn't like Chocolate ?? Very interesting & informative. I Enjoyed my time there..I did not go on the guided tour...I read and took my time discovering facts along the way.
Was closed ????
Awesome visit.great your guide. Fresh clean water for my service dog out front. Chocolates were awesome. Lots of samples.
Fun place to take the kids. Lots of free samples.
Nice atmosphere, but was expecting more in the way of how they make chocolate. They show you videos for most of the information they deliver.
Great piece of history to see. (And yummy)
The girl did an extremely good job explaining the process of the Ganong plant. We really enjoyed it and of course I bought chocolates.
Been There since I was a kid
Awesome history..what a beautiful story and it's still going is the best part. The chocolate is absolutely delicious...omg...so I spent $100 at the gift store! LOL. But soooooo worth it!
Great chocolate
Lots of fun with kids, lots of chocolate samples! Which is always a plus, I was expecting it to be a lot more like Willy Wonka esk but will fun just the same!
Wonderful place.Very nice interesting place and very good storyteller
Excellent chocolate, very friendly staff and amazing history of an amazing candy manufacturer
Not super exciting.
(Translated) A bit expensive but beautiful building. (Original) Un peu cher mais bel édifice.
(Translated) Excellent (Original) Excellent
Informative and tasty ,nice people.
If you love free samples and learning about how candy is made, this will make a great place to go for you!
Uninspiring.
The tour guide we has was amazing, however the two females working over at the chocolatier were not very pleasant or happy to help us out. But I would definitely recommend taking the tour.
We had a lot of fun here. The admission price was a bit high for the size of the exhibit but they did have a family price and a Veterans' discount. The museum is well laid out with lots to read and visualize. Lots of 'samples' which got our flavour juices flowing and opened our wallets in the retail store. Spoiler Alert. Everything in the retail store is available in the local shops at better prices, you are not getting factory outlet prices at all.
We stopped here on a lark and boy are we glad we did?! The self guided tour through the museum was very well laid out and had lots of great information. The best part were the samples of chocolate you could have in every room, I highly recommend it!
Loved it and the history behind it. So nice to have this in NB.
Yummy
Loved the tour today given by the semi retied Mo. You could tell the passion behind his knowledge. It made the tour so much better. Some very neat history to learn about from the story of the Ganong Family.
Cool place
Awesome
(Translated) Interesting guided tour but because of the covid so you can't touch the buttons of the interactive areas. We really appreciated the offer of a tour in French and the guide did a great job in making the experience more enjoyable.
Great place to visit
The tour was fun and we loved making bark!!
Awesome tour,very informative.
Interesting tidbits on chocolate making
Really great and our tour guide was very informative and very patient with our three kids. They also played close attention to our daughters nut allergy and had something nut free for her.
Our tour guide was very informative and took the time to answer all our questions. 5 stars minimum.
Overall the store carried less variety than I had expected. I am esp. fond of chocolates w/ nuts (cashew clusters, pecan clusters etc) and they had less of these types than I expected. The store was clean and material is well displayed. The chocolate museum, which is a a separate entity, is right next door.
A very nice place, thank you for the tour Margaret !
$8 to get in and half the exhibits were under construction.
If you love chocolate, you need to go here
Definitely the place to see to experience the history of Charlotte County & New Brunswick
Good spot to learn about the local chocolate history and try the chocolates
Very interesting and engaging!
Small place but very friendly and the chocolate is to die for.
Super atmosphere and great cappuccino
We were booked for a tour beginning at 2pm. They started teen minutes early and when we entered for our tour we felt like we intruded on someone else's tour. We had to leave the room and then waited for a break before asking if we had made a mistake. We had to play catch-up on our own reading information signage racing to catch up to the group already following along with the tire guide. Had we known that the tour would start ahead of time we could have come more than ten minutes early. I would advise that the stated start time is ten to fifteen minutes prior. Otherwise avoid the unpleasant experience and just not enter the premises if you can't be extra early.
$10 a head for what should be a free telling of the company history. There is a store next door for all your chocolate desires.
Historic!
Interesting history of St Stephen and the chocolatiers history.
You don't get free samples like you used to. Too bad.
Very well laid out exhibits, free samples--maybe a bit pricey.
Unlimited chocolate while inside omnomnom.
One of the greatest chocolate shops I have ever visited!! Welcoming staff. They also offer you sample chocolates to taste before you buy anything.
Really informative and enjoyable tour. Have always wanted to go and glad I did. Plus the chocolate is delicious.
I like chocolate. Not sure about the price (almost 30 for three people) for such a short experience.
Awesome, interactive experience
Great place full of information little expensive tho..
It honestly is not much of a museum. Just a little chocolate store. But hey the chocolate was delicious!
Offers a historic look at the world famous Ganong Chocolate Company. Very interesting and educational.
History and chocolate, what's not to love? Watching the chocolates hand dip the Ganong chocolates and seeing how everything is made from the cocoa bean into a delicious treat was educational and fun!
We really enjoyed our time here! The samples were yummy, & the story of Ganong Chocolates was fascinating, even to the risk of fire from the ovens and the fire doors mounted on a sloped rail & held open by lead weights on a rope so that the lead would melt & the doors close in a fire. Margaret, who had gone to work at the factory in the "chicken legs" room after retiring, told engaging stories that brought you into Ganong's Chocolates' long history. Pay close attention to the door with the combination lock at the tour's end — open it & get a selfie then go to the front desk for your prize! ????
I feel I just bought a $10.00 piece of chocolate ????
Godly
Just parked in the parking lot never went in but I here it is a great place to visit.
A great mix, candy and history!
Pal o Mine chocolate bars!! Yum.
(Translated) A very beautiful and interesting place. The whole history of the chocolate factory and its founders, many interesting photographs, old things, friendly staff. Adults and children will be interested. (Original) Очень красивое и интересное место .Целая история шоколадной фабрики и ее основателей,много интересных фотографий ,старых вещей ,приветливый персонал .Взрослым и детям будет интересно .
Take the tour and learn the history of the Canadian chocolate industry and one of their largest manufacturers. View the few staff members who still hand dip chocolate by hand which are only sold in the connecting shop. Samples are provided during the tour, with many flavors of chocolatr to try. I recall eating 5 pieces, plus trying nibs. The tour guide still tried to offer more. View the museum with the tour and then go back to read and learn more, but don't forget to visit the shop to grab a supply to bring home.
My kids loved it but there are a few spelling mistakes in the French part of the exhibit.
How lovely that this wonderful old factory building includes this store. What a wonderful way to preserve it's history.
Pretty outdated. Tour was not great- you basically get 5 chocolates for free and watch several videos. Regret stopping.
cool place. very interesting to know where it comes from
We went here on our last day of vacation 3 weeks ago. We were expecting a history lesson on how this chocolate company has made their name, and we certainly were not disappointed. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and in fact, her father actually worked at the factory. We saw a lot of great artifacts of the old museum, even though it had burnt down a few times. We learnt about some strange habits of the older founders, like the fact that one of them use to eat 83 LBS of chocolate every day, and he passed away at 83 years old. We then went and watch the hand dippers in there special room, which was really cool to see, a specialty that doesn't exist in very many places anymore. Of course, what's the point to go to a chocolate museum, without getting any chocolate. Once the tour was finished, we headed straight to the store that is in the front of the factory. This cute little door greats you as you walk in. It feels old, which is awesome. It really makes you think how it would have looked 50+ years ago. Next time I'm in St. Stephen, I will certainly stop by the chocolate store again. Until next time.
A very very sweet delicous experience We go as often as we can
Great place to stop before crossing the border!
Fantastic!! A must stop and take the tour when your in the town. You won't regret it.
Great tour, well guided. Wonderful history!
(Translated) Museum very pleasant and historically interesting. The secret is to take the time to smell the good smell and savor the good chocolate hummmm (Original) Musée très plaisant et historiquement intéressant. Le secret c’est de prendre le temps de sentir la bonne odeur et de savourer le bon chocolat hummmm
Great surprise. The first sign you see crossing the us border. Get you some chocolate!
Did the tour and got to learn great information and history about Ganong chocolatiers, Saint-Stephen and the people who have paved the way for Canadian Chocolate! Really enjoyed it! Don't forget to stop in the chocolate shop after and pick out some delicious chocolates
The introduction of chocolate history is nice and short (perfect for kids) and the chocolate degustation is very good. I like the history of the company. It's interactive and we can see some artisans making old made chocolate.
Not a lot of museum. Plenty of chocolate, though. Heaping bowls of chocolates throughout the museum. The actual displays were pretty dull and quick to zip through. If you're going to buy chocolate anyway, you might want to skip the museum and head straight to the store up front. Probably the most interesting part of the museum for me were the old boxes they had, from the old days.
Very interesting tour by a student,.
Friendly staff nice place to visit free samples would recommend
A nice history if chocolate making in Canada plus chocolate tasting. Yum.
Fun tour! Great chocolate!!
Great place a must for anyone in the area
Great place. The tour was very informative. Cute spot
No more all-you-can-eat samples...
It's not huge but it's informative, fun, and worth the admission price.
Older factory building in the Town of St. Stephen. My understanding is it was the old Ganong factory prior to the building of the new location on the outside of town. Contains various shops including a place where they sell Ganongs Chocolates. Prices are a little high as they are with most tourist traps. If you are buying the main stay items like Chicken Bones or Pal O Mine Chocolate bar I would recommend buying it at Walmart or local stores as you will save money. I would recommend trying the hand made chocolates. Nice taste. Fresh as made at the Ganong factory not too far from the store. Neat place and worth a visit but bring your some extra money if you plan to go.
Didn't tour the museum, however bought some items in gift shop. The gift shop has a wide array of well displayed items. Some you can tase a sample. Staff was friendly and helpful. The chocolate we purchased was very tasty.
They are segregating and discriminating against healthy people.criminal.supressing n deleting freedom of speech on thier page to
(Translated) It’s not bad to take the kids to learn about chocolate production (Original) 帶小朋友了解一下巧克力生產還不錯
I greatly enjoyed the museum, its displays and handouts of candy but the highlight was the wonderful guide (on 5/25/2019) who stayed late to give us a full tour. She was both full of knowledge and a born storyteller. I wish I could do it again!
Absolute pleasure visiting the Chocolate Museum and taking the tour. I would highly recommend it.
Beautiful, old fashioned and yummy
Our tour guide through the museum was knowledgeable and fun. From the different cocao beans to the types of chocolate and from the hand dippers to the heads of the ganong company. Well done. Only four stars as the chocolate tasting at the end wasn't as sanitary as it could be.
Learned a lot about chocolate and the history of the business in town. Fewer taste testers than past years, but a worthwhile visit.
Really good prices
Palomine
Open only in the summers but a great place to eat a ton of chocolates and look at some history
Awesome tour. Such an amazing place with so much history. I wasn't expecting it to be as much as it was. Tottaly worth the $10 entry fee.
I felt the price was high for this type of tour - $30 for a family of four. That being said, my children did enjoy it and I found it informative. It was a nice stop to break up our drive. You also get to try up to four free chocolates.
Great tour. Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. Plenty of free samples too. Down side is the space is tight for large groups. Having smaller groups would be better.
Interesting. Must be escorted through the museum and very dull for younger ones.
First time here, so fun!
(Translated) I really enjoyed meeting this place. (Original) Gostei muito de ter conhecido esse lugar
Ok to see. The chocolate is cheaper in the stores in town, learned that the expensive way
A wonderful spot to buy chocolates.
A little pricey not too many options
Lots of hiatory packed into a small space. Plus dishes of chocolate everywhere. It's win/win!!
Worth a stop! Fabulous chocolates.
Really quick paced, interesting and interactive. I felt the videos were quite old but it was still a good experience.
Watch prices sometimes cheaper at local grocery stores
Good chocolat. A bit small. Informative and interactive. Get to watch live people hand dip actual chocolats. Great staff.
I love the free chocolate to compliment the tour and the heritage walk was interesting.
Candy why not!
Nice tour with knowledgeable staff. Interesting artifarts. Dont't eat before you go though! They offer you tasters all throughout the tour. And of course you get to see a hand dipper in action.
Nice place!!! Can't say the same about Canadian boarder, very rude & looked at us like we're crazy crossing the border to go to the chocolate museum.
Very nice love the tasting of chocolate
I'm so glad this place protects its guests and employees from the coronavirus by requiring everyone to wear masks.
From the origin of chocolate to the history of the Ganong factory, the chocolate museum will bring you along in an adventure through time. You will also have the opportunity to taste some of the chocolate produced there.
Just ok, but very nice girls up front
Wonderful tour, very interesting awesome chocolate.
Where do you get these chocolates in stores?. We have never seen them!
It was an excellent. The museum is very well laid out with a combination of exhibits and videos. The staff is excellent. Very knowledgeable and helpful...a great stop. And the chocolates were great!!
Good signage, some interactive, nice museum.
Nice place to visit.
If your interested in the history of things you should visit. Your greeted by very friendly staff & begin the tour with a yummy chocolate. They tell very interesting stories about the Ganong family. Throughout the tour samples are handed out. They show videos of the factory and processes. Very fun and well done.
Wonderfull yummy chocolates ???? adds up fast $ no bathroom
This is not a huge museum but if you are a fan of chocolate it is interesting to learn about the history of chocolate and the Ganong company.
Fun, fun, fun. Delicious chocolates and great tour.
Informative, loved the samples!
$32 dollars for the family, it’s not worth it, It takes you 5 min to go around. Better take your family to dinner.
Nice little museum the highlights some local history and will connect with every chocolate lover ... lots of free samples, more than I could handle. Passionate tour host, very enjoyable experience.
This was definitely worth the visit! Wasn't expecting so much history of Ganong! Had a great tour guide, and to finish it off, we got to make our own chocolate bark.
Kind people but boring tour
Guided tours only so did not get the opportunity to see and read some of the exhibit details up close. Chocolate samples were great. Neat to see hand dipped chocolate close up and try some. Just wanted a little more time and ability to explore and learn.
Lovely place to visit
Informative and entertaining.
Very enthusiastic staff. Interesting info. Good samples. The videos are a bit too long, and people got bored. Best to shorten the videos and spend more time explaining some of the items.
One of St.Stephen's treasures. A look back in time to the begining of Ganong chocolates
Great history of the chocolate factory in St. Stephen.
The chocolate museum tour was really cool and the chocolate itself was actually quite affordable considering the truffles are hand dipped. I personally enjoyed the gummies the best and recommend the ones in bags under the cash register. There are a ton of samples and the tour is worth it because of how knowledgeable the staff is and informative the videos are. I recommend this place even if you have to travel a little distance.
(Translated) The visit is great and the chocolate he gives during the visit is handmade (Original) La visite est génial et les chocolat qu'il donne pendant la visite sont fait à la main
It's an interesting look at the Ganong chocolate family story. The museum is a little small for the price but you do get like 4 pcs of chocolate and a bag of jelly beans during your tour. The young tour guide did a very good job explaining certain artifacts. Ganong created many things that are used today by other chocolate makers. My actual museum rating is 3.5. The town of St. Stephens is a pretty little place right beside the Maine border. If you go stop at the town flea market as well.
Chocolates were so good.. very informative .. Margaret was a great tour guide!
(Translated) Small but very pleasant museum. Chocolate tasting during the visit. A discovery for me: it's not just the Belgians or the Swiss who make good chocolate. (Original) Petit musée mais très agréable. Dégustation de chocolat pendant la visite. Une découverte pour moi : il n'y a pas que les Belges ou les suisses qui font du bon chocolat.
Great hands on museum!! And we got to try a bunch of different chocolates!! Loved it!!
Disappointed...10 bucks each to get in, 2 free chocolates each and a couple of free chicken bones. We went during chocolate fest and we were expecting a little bit more that that. The museum itself was basically a self promotion of the Ganong name...an interactive infomercial....that you pay to see. Would not recommend..go to grandma's instead, she will give you more than just 2 :).
(Translated) I have visited in the past and we had more chocolate tasting. (Original) J'ai déjà visité par le passé et nous avions plus de dégustation de chocolat.
Great place. Nice tour.
Love chocolate!!
Great staff !!
Where to start! Was greeted by wonderful hosts, then given the tour by a enthusiastic young lady, we were treated with several chocolate treats, which were all amazing! Learning the history of the Gangongs was very interesting and we learned a lot
This is a great place to visit on your way into Canada. The owners have upgraded it since we were last there. They have a number of videos to watch and some interactive sections for children. If you are antsy and don't want to sit down and watch the somewhat lengthy videos, you can leave your family and sample the free chocolates they have laying all over the place. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
(Translated) Disappointed I thought there would be more chocolate (Original) Déçue je pensais qu'il y aurait plus de chocolat
Took the tour today and it was fantastic! The young lady we had for a tour guide was very friendly, funny and knowledgeable of the history and lineage of the factory, the owners and workers and processes of making chocolate. Great way to spend the afternoon and definitely would recommend if you are in the area.
Very good history lesson on the Ganong family and the history of chocolate
11 dollars to see pictures and text
It was ok. The cost of the chocolate is almost twice what you pay at any other store.
Wasn't their
Choclate
Had a great time even with covid!! Was an hour long tour learned alot and got to make bark at the end
A great look into the history of chocolate and the Ganong company.
Worth the money tour was great
Fun place, knowledge guide. Interactive tour EXCELLENT samples.
Beautiful museum!
Extremely disappointed you are continuing to force healthy people to cover their faces or deny them entry???? Shame on you all at the chocolate museum.???? I’ll be taking my children elsewhere this summer now as we planned on a visit. Everyone should BOYCOTT this place. Canadians do not accept Segregation or discrimination.
Loved it,awesome tour , moe was very knowledgeadle frendly and courteous .
The staff was great. Not enough samples. Wish we would have had more time to go back through and view the exhibits but they started another tour.
Lots of fun yet not too long for an inpatient 8 year old boy! The chocolate is the best I've ever tasted...
A great chocolate adventure. Friendly, knowledgeable guides. Highly recommended.
