Can't argue with the $10 admission fee, but this is still a disappointing experience. Things that pop to mind:
Some displays are completely missing. One has a note saying it was borrowed by someone for study....over 10 years ago. It has been 10+ years. Get it back, or at the very least, switch out the display.
There seems to be a Fundy tides display right at the front. Seemed to be completely inoperable when we were there (mid-Feb 2019). Fix it, turn it on, or get rid of it.
A lot of the signage is dated and seems to be peeling around the corners. Some of the signs don't even tell you what the sign is for; the first floor signage is a "read and try to find the item they're talking about". It should be set up more like the bird section where everything has a number to reference on the sign.
A good 15% of the place was blocked off or shut down due to building issues or a "work in progress".
Several displays had tarps over them and buckets everywhere due to what I assume was a leaking roof.
Some skeletons on the ceiling aren't even referenced anywhere (what am I looking at?).
All in all, hugely disappointing - especially the natural history floor.
All of this could likely be rectified with a new facility; it really needs to be updated in a hurry. But I guess the current state of it is good enough for the provincial Con. government since they decided to pull the promised money towards creating new facilities. I mean...who needs science and history anyways? I don't know if I despise the current government more for this, or the past governments for not addressing the issue earlier as this place has obviously been falling apart for a while.
